Sometimes in order to obtain a complete set of food items, you might have to visit several stores. Today, it was the case. What was I doing at Randall's? Looking for croissant dinner rolls. It seems only Randall's carry these rolls. Interestingly, they were not in the bread section. This time, they were in the cake section of the bakery. Bread...cake...what's the common denominator? Flour...but two different types of flower. We needed two containers of the croissant dinner rolls and fortunately, they had only two containers left...score!!! It really did not matter what the croissant dinner rolls were resting only that they were in the store. Oh happy day!!! One of the Randall's team members helped me find the croissant dinner rolls, when I could not find them in the bread section. He was very helpful. It was pretty quiet in the store today. I grabbed rolls, rang up my purchase and was on my way.

Used to like the berry tarts here. Now this is the third time I've bought something that was supposed to be fresh and it's rotten. The first time were a bag of mushy black avocados. The second time were little oranges. And now, look at these Valentine's Day Chocolate Covered Strawberries. Fuzzy with mold!

We really only stopped in to pick up some items after brunch, we were not here long and only choose it as there was no HEB closer. We just got a few things for the day and our trip to the Central Library, which sadly no longer has a food/drink area/restaurant. It was clean, the few people we spoke to were nice. We didn't know the area or store very well but it is a standard Randalls store.

This is a standard Randall's store, well stocked with essentials and fresh produce.  It is kept very clean.  Employees have also always been helpful to me. The parking lot is large with two entrances.  It is located away from a major road, so it's easy in and out. If you arrive when the store first opens, you will have to use self-check. Cashiers don't go on shift for at least an hour into the opening.

The first few days of the bouquet.

How is this even possible? Could it be because we were in downtown Austin? One of my friends speculated that it was because they had a University of Texas game yesterday and they needed ice for tailgate parties. Really!? Seriously?' There is no empirical evidence supporting this assertion. If that was case, why could they not know the schedule. Well, I ended up buying ice at a higher price from a gasoline station...don't remember the name. Am I raging about the difficulty of finding ice? Nope! In retrospect, it is rather humorous that so many places were out of ice simultaneously. If all of the ice went to fun pursuits, I'm good with the icecapades (case of the missing ice). Lesson learned: Buy ice in my neighborhood before heading downtown Austin.

Ok so apparently there are two pages for this location. This…read moreone which is from when the old store was still in existence and a new one someone created after the renovation. Apparently, not realizing this page already existed. Anyway, covering all my bases and doing a review here as well. Note: I've also suggested an edit for the duplicate businesses. Ok now that is out of the way. Review time: I really love this location so much. The store is huge with wide aisles making it easy to navigate compared to the smaller stores. Even if it's crazy busy on a Sunday afternoon you can still get to the items you need with ease. The store is still very clean and of course modern since the rebuild. Employees are friendly. The shelves are stocked fully 99.999% of the time. I live extremely close to the East 7th Street store (5 min away) and opt for this location time and time again.

Contrary to another review, they usually have fresh fruit on hand; bananas in a basket and prepared fruit cups. They have a fair selection of beer, wine, soft drinks and coffees. They have sandwiches and other prepared food (e.g. giant $4 burritos) in the cooler. One time I had to ask for toilet paper and the guy brought it out from the back room. I suppose it took up too much space on the shelf. This is the alternative to Royal Blue, which has even higher prices, although Royal Blue makes some food in-house. On the whole, I prefer Second Street because Royal Blue has a weird vibe and some weird brands and this place is a regular store.

Honestly unremarkable. An independent convenience store that knows it can charge more because of where it is. The staff were friendly enough, but the stock was kind of limited. That might be due to so many people being in town that week but they seemed to run out of drinks fairly quickly. It's also no fault of the store but it's worth mentioning right in front of their doors seems to be a popular hangout for Austin's homeless. I don't think we managed a single visit here without being asked for change. If you need a quick snack they are in a great location, just don't expect an overly pleasant visit.

There was even a hint of gooieness that you want from a cinnamon roll. For a dollar and some change it's a great size! As I noticed other people gathering around the hot food line, I couldn't help but decide on getting a plate. I picked up the ranchero bisteak and chicken Tinga and for my two sides, I decided on the plantains and nopales. Both of the meats I decided on were extremely delicious in flavor and the beef was exceptionally tender. I got red and green salsa and it appears that the red salsa is a tad bit creamy, which is not something I've had many times before. It was unique and extremely tasty. As for the green salsa, I have yet to try, but I am sure it won't disappoint. I do want to give this place praise because I have passed it up before, but it is not a place to be looked over. There's so many other goodies in here that you won't find at a regular grocery store so it's definitely worth coming inside and checking out especially if you just want something to do. The people were so nice exceptional customer service. There is seating if you want to eat inside and they were playing good music. I almost forgot to mention how exceptional the sides were. Often times people mess up nopales, but these were delicious.
