My husband and I ate there over the years. Then another management took over and the quality of food dropped. Lately, I decided to stop in and give the food another try. I was pleasantly surprised the food was good and the quality was good. The service was great. I actually met the new owner and he seemed very nice and concerned. Won't be coming back.Thirty five dollars including tip for a soda (no refill offered),one Tostada 'La Grande' which was quite small and one cheese quesadilla is way over priced. If I could give this place less than one star I would. The food was hideous. The servers confused my diet Coke with a regular Coke, told us the hot salsa was the mild....ouch. My boyfriend and I ordered the fajitas for two. It had steak, pork and chicken. The steak and pork were inedible and the rice was oily. It was obvious the meat was not cooked fresh that day but heated up from days ago. We had one large margarita and two Cokes. The two kids had a kid's dinner and the other a chicken enchilada with rice and beans. The chicken was bland and tasteless. Our bill was over $130. YIKES!!! We will never return to the restaurant and would highly recommend you stay clear. read more

Absolutely amazing! My family and I were trying to find some good food as it was almost 9pm we found this location and went immediately. It was already 8:40 and luckily they offered us togo and to sit outside (as they needed to close) the staff was extremely sweet and even brought us water in togo cups outside! And the food was huge!! This place has amazing food and service! I frequent often with family and friends. I love the guacamole table! The salsa is amazing too. I'm giving it a 4 star, and honestly think it should be 3 stars for the price of their regular sized guacamole (not table guacamole) just the small salsa sized amount is $8.00. The table guacamole is $12.00, so their is no point in ordering a small size for four bucks less. That's way too expensive for the quality and size. At first I tried to call ahead to place a take out order. Unfortunately, the phone kept ringing. I decided that with it being Fathers Day and many businesses are short handed that this could be the reason. When I arrived, they had a sign up saying exactly this. No worries. My first impression was that it was clean, and the staff was professional and doing everything they could to keep things moving. I was approached by Chris and he took my order and double checked it (I had written it down at home), which I appreciated this to make sure that it was correct. I may have waited no more than ten minutes. We ordered the #2 combo and a Kids taco meal. Both portions were generous(along with a big bag of chips and salsa and extra enchilada sauce. I vowed never to come back here. I received a gift certificate and had to use it. The prices are just ridiculous. Dude it's Mexican food. The cheapest food to make. The salsa takes like someone dumped chili powder in it. I had a couple shredded beef tacos. I think the shells were premade from a box? Both tacos had a couple tiny pieces of cheese on them. My food was absolutely delicious and flavorful. It came to the table so fast. Also there were 4 people that came to check on us. I've never had my corn tortillas grilled and so soft and flavorful. The atmosphere and music is nice. I came for lunch. Service was fast and accurate. The owner made the rounds at the tables and solicited feedback. That is a huge plus for me to see an owner that cares. Chips were warm and fresh. The salsa served, even the hot one, was lacking much heat. Same for the food. It was good, no doubt, but could have been a bit more flavorful with additional seasoning or a little heat added. I understand that I am in northern Idaho so the recipes may be adjusted to suit local taste. I have eaten at the one in Hayden, Idaho and the one in Post Falls, Idaho and this one a couple of times and this one has never gotten my order right once. I especially like the one in Hayden as they have lunch specials. So I will not eat at this one unless I have companions who want it. My son & I ate or should I say DIDN'T eat, except chips salsa and a side of 12$ quacomole last tonight, and when I say it was a HORRIBLE experience, let me say the servers were polite, it's the OWNER/Mngr MIGUEL could use some business courses on HOW to run a business (his ego is likely unteachable, because I tried & wasted my breath)! The 25$ plate I ordered was SUPPOSED to be Diablo Prawn dish, & a 9$ side chili relleno. BOTH were AWFUL! I politely asked the manager who was walking by, "Did u change ur sauce?" He's said, "no." I said, "Oh well, it's REALLY super sweet & not spicy AT ALL." WELL, HOLD ON TO UR SOMBEROs when u HEAR HOW this OWNER MAKES his SAUCE (by his admission)! W/KETCHUP & TAPITIO! IN a 25$ PLATE that he's SO proud of. (& they leave the tails ON Prawns which forces one to dip their fingers inside the sauce to pull tails off. DIABLO sauce is SUPPOSED to be made w/DIABLO PEPPERS! Mushrooms being the ONLY other ingredient in the dish were NOT edible cause seriously WHO eats mushrooms W/KETCHUP?! Not the worst of it. When the waitress came & asked if I'd like a take out box, I said we'll, no, as I really didn't like it, after having eaten only 1 bite." She says, "Wait, let me get a manager. The owner/manager did NOT offer 1 dime off bill! He then said he'd changed the entire menu (as a new owner), & he just jokingly says, "Oh u can just add some hot sauce to it." Then he proceeds to ARGUE at table OVER 20 minutes about COST of his restaurant business & liquor license and how he has to pay his cooks, but he's there cooking in the morning. THE EGO on this owner was off charts! He's like, "Well, u could order the $18 tostada. I'm like, "I CAN MAKE THAT at HOME for a few bucks!" It's kind of funny because he kept saying," Oh, u can check my Facebook. " I have lots of good reviews. I'm like, FB, u can just delete or block somebody. You're not getting the reviews u should be getting, because this is horrible food, & you're very rude. I would not come back! People often WON'T complain for fear of spit or worse in their food! They often just don't go back! IF a manager TRIES to make concession w/the customer, one MIGHT give a chance, but after arguing with this man for too much of my life & proceeding to have him make racist remarks about white people, not knowing good food, or hot food, which I WANTED spicy, or that he can't please everyone. I said no, I wouldn't expect you to, but I WOULD expect u to take the cost of MY meal off $35 for my food, which was awful, & I couldn't eat. I said I'm not paying for all that, & left. He then to take a photograph of my son's license plate. We called the police to let them know that this man-made racist remarks and we felt uncomfortable, & left w/o paying for all which I've NEVER done in 60 years! We found out HE had called the police on us! He's charging California prices in Idaho, where the minimum wage is $7 an hour. Give me a break. He deserves to be shut down with his attitude. My son called his Mexican friend and said. "Hey, do you know any Mexican that cook w/ketchup? He's like, "God NO!" Well, this guy claims he's from Jalisco, Mexico, so he should cook real mexican food, BUT he's cutting corners! He needs to go to college & take a few business courses, as the first rule of business is "the customers is always right even when u don't want them to be right. There's no Mexican place to eat other than Taco Bell. He was telling me about Taco Bell shocked that they had long lines just down the street. I'm like, yeah, Taco Bell's not great, but it's affordable, & u KNOW what u're getting. I shouldn't be paying 25$ dollars a plate for 6 prawns in ketchup! I could go on but let's just say as a MINIMUM an owner/manager should start or at least say, "I'm sorry, EVEN if they don't mean it and those words NEVER left Miguel's mouth. We came in with our family of 6 for Cinco de Mayo. We arrived at 530 pm and were told it would be 45 min wait... we ended up leaving at 7:15 after being left outside in the rain waiting for a table. We were told we were next many times. When we asked the hostess why the group of 11 that arrived after us was seated over us the young hostess started yelling and being very disrespectful, it was a horrible experience. We eat there monthly. Unfortunately we won't be returning. I do not recall experiencing such rudeness before. Always a nice manager. But when he the owner sat the 11 top group over our group and being treated so horrible for asking why, we left. read more

I'm torn on what to rate this place. This was my first visit here and I feel the experience was mixed. The location is beautiful on the inside and presents a traditional Mexican restaurant and cantina. Wood carved booths and colorful artwork really help set the theme. Our server was new and it showed but she was extremely nice and tried very hard which for me is a plus. She consistently checked on the table and made sure we were taken care of. My dads food order was messed up and they did overcharge him but we were able to get that corrected before paying. The problem we both had was the food. It was all spice and no flavor. Which is sad because it looked delicious but once you got past the spicy heat is was bland. We didn't even finish it or take any leftovers home. I wouldn't recommend this place for food at this time. Perhaps for drinks yes. I also want to note that when we visited there was only 2 other tables being served so it wasn't busy. read more

While visiting Post Falls I came across this restaurant. I ordered fish tacos on the first night and loved it all, except for their chipotle cream that was a little bland but still worked. The rice, beans and the tortillas for the tacos were delicious. Second night I ordered a carne asada salad, now, this one I was a little disappointed with. Flavor was good but $20 for lettuce and meat does not sound right. I'd suggest adding a little of rice and beans underneath all of that lettuce and maybe it'd be a fair price. Overall great taste and service. Will definitely visit again when back in the area. read more

First off I'd like to say the servers were awesome! The owner is a complete ass. He admitted that his salsa is Topatio and catchup. Gross! He also said he had to change the quality of the food to match the client's. What an ego! We use to go to this restaurant because the food was good. It has hit rock-bottom. We used to eat here and liked it. Hadn't been in for a couple of years and it's obvious they have new ownership. Prices were 3 times what they are in the other Mexican restaurants in town!!! Appalling! And they served a dinner salad with no dressing. When I asked for dressing they brought it and charged $1 on our bill! I mean who serves a salad and charges extra for the dressing??!! Used to be our go to restaurant however after discovering that the servers don't get the credit card tips, we may never go back. I raised 3 kids working in a restaurant and we survived on tips. Every Tuesday my family tries a new mexican restaurant in Post Falls until we find our go-to taco place. This was only week 2, but Rancho Viejo easily blew (last week's) La Cabaña out of the water. At each place we get two margaritas, a kids meal, and two entrees (one of which is vegetarian). Rancho has more flavor in their meals and more alcohol in their drinks. One kid gobbled down his meal amd wanted more it was so tasty. I think he got Huevos Rancheros, which is not a kids meal but was split between two kids. read more

We were looking for a restaurant to cater for our graduation celebration. I saw Miguel's post on Facebook. It looked great. We had him cater a taco bar for 20 people. There was so much food, we ate on it for two days and still had leftovers. It was so easy. He provided all the food , the warmers, and utensils and it was very reasonably priced.
