Before Hilltop, he had never attended a formal school setting, so watching his growth over those two years was truly incredible. The teachers are absolutely phenomenal (Mrs Gilary, Mrs Tina, Mrs. Dorothy and Mrs. Alejandra), and there are so many reasons why. They genuinely have a love for teaching and for the children they serve. They encourage independence, nurture each child's individual personality, and create creative, engaging programs that allow children to learn naturally and organically. They also provide so many special experiences throughout the year, including multiple performances that give the children opportunities to build confidence and shine. When my son first started, he had HUGE feelings and very few words in his toolbox to express them. I watched the teachers meet him with patience, compassion, encouragement, and consistency. Little by little, they helped him find his voice, become more independent, and develop the confidence to navigate new experiences. By the time he started kindergarten, he was confident, reading, expressing himself beautifully, and leading conversations. After a change in leadership, our experience began to shift. We initially hoped the changes would be positive, but over time, we became increasingly concerned. Our family believes in God, though we do not identify as Christian. At times, we felt we were viewed differently and excluded from the school community. Our children were not perfect, and we have always tried to guide them and help them learn from their mistakes. However, we felt staff continued to judge them based on past behaviour, even as they were making progress with our support. We were also concerned about the school's demerit system and the possibility of expulsion after a certain number of demerits. We understood that teachers could assign demerits without the principal's knowledge, and in our experience, some seemed to be given for relatively minor reasons--for example, after a teacher overheard a conversation between our children and their friends and disapproved of it. Overall, we felt our concerns were not taken seriously and that our children were not given a fair opportunity to move forward. After we announced our decision to leave, the staff's attitude toward our family seemed noticeably colder. On our children's final day, a staff member asked them, "Why are you even here?" We found the comment hurtful and inappropriate, particularly on a day that was already difficult for our children. Based on our experience, I would strongly encourage prospective families to carefully reconsider whether this school is the right choice for them.

What we can't get is that nowadays quite a few grandparents are raising their grand kids due to the parents of the lovely children. Some of us grandparents have their grandchildren due to the miss conduct of their parents, ie, drug, guns, etc., and are afraid that at any given time someone has threatened them and their children. As the guardians of these little guys we keep them safe from strangers and harm when they are with us but when we let them go to school we want to be safe that the gates are locked and when the EXIT is on a gate that means EXIT only, no entrance of anyone at any time. My youngest son was allowed to enter into the kindergarten play yard and he has no children in that school and has not been on the school grounds this year for the new parents or some of the old ones to see this year but yet someone leaving held the gate open for him since he was running in that direction. This was an issue last year when a child was pleaded to open the gate and a non parent was on the school ground and roaming around before he was approached by office personnel and escorted off the premises before something regretful happened, so please when i make a remark to you about this gate being exit only, heed my concern for the safety of my grandsons and your children.

First, my daughter graduated at QAS, she didn't do well academically, most of her classmates are unfriendly. It's OK.. I thought it was OK! now she's in high school she finally had the courage to tell me on why she wasn't doing well. It is because of bullying, she wasn't happy with the MEAN GIRLS, then boys on their batch are misbehaving too much to the point they missed out too much activities. No one can tame them. They didn't do much out-of-school activities. NO CARITAS on their batch. Bullying are mishandle and no resolution at all. NO GUIDANCE COUNCILLOR/ Counseling. Some classes are taken out slowly.. NO MUSIC, NO LANGUAGE & ART CLASS/ Spanish, they took out the MOTIVATIONAL Speaker (Principal said no budget/ they are very expensive) School gatherings are taken out too. Good thing they kept the BOO BASH because that the only big event in school which families can use their MANDATORY HOURS. I just never liked some PACE STAFF who acts like an employers during volunteering hours. They acted like they are inheriting QAS... like literally.. EVENTS supposed to be fun were parents happily working together building haunted house / cooking & not monitoring them if they are doing something or NOT. To be there instead of going to work is something , don't make it hard for parents to volunteer. It used to be fun years ago when parents meet-up during events. We laugh , we enjoy , we are building good relationships & always looking forward for the next events. Now they have this tactless PACE which I don't know for some reason she is always screaming.. so to me, just go to work if your boss is better than the PACE President.. or else these PACE STAFF eyes will be on you during the whole time. Now my daughter is doing great at Carondelet , she's making friends , she's happy , she's loud & doing great academics. Currently, I still have 2 boys in QAS, & hopefully the new Principal will do better with the BULLIES. Treating evryone fairly & handles issues carefully... I heard someone said that it's becoming to look like POLITICAL DYNASTY... if you know what I meant by that. some parents complaining about the standard of education is not what it used to 5-8yrs ago.. kids struggles in High School? I honestly believe God had a hand in bringing us here, the school has been so nurturing to our children and it's always been a source of great comfort knowing I'm sending my kids into an environment that shows them the love of Christ in everything they do. Teachers are communicative and regularly available, parents are involved and invested in the school, and overall QAS feels like a big family. There's lots of fun traditions like older students coming to teach younger ones, the annual Halloween party, the yearly auction - but more importantly the community is genuinely filled with good people who care about the kids and I couldn't be more grateful for the impact they've had on our lives.
