I attended this school K-6 and had an amazing experience. The teachers were amazing! I appreciate that they taught the word of God unashamedly and still do til this day. No tickling of ears here. To all of those who said this school teaches hateful things when it comes to cultural issues...The word of God is offensive and is sharper than any two edge sword...it divides. God is love, but He is holy and righteous. God is very clear about the way He created things and His design for His creation. We have to remember Satan comes to steal, kill and destroy and He comes to take people away from the truth and lies trying to tell people God made them opposite of the way Gods word speaks of. WORST SCHOOL EVER!!! My daughter attended here for 8 years and got bullied for 5. I talked to the principal and he said he would solve it. HE DIDNT DO ANYTHING. I am very mad. Our daughter started Tabernacle as a shy kindergartener. She is now going into 2nd grade as a confident reader and has been supported in developing socially as well. We especially love the music/instrument program at Tabernacle. Mrs B is the best! read more

I attended Tabernacle from 3rd-8th grade and now my daughter is about to start 2nd grade. I am still friends with some of those people who I attended with so very long ago and I hope that my child gets to enjoy that as well. I have been debating whether or not to write this but I think parents of prospective students need to be aware of the school they could possibly be sending their kids to. I contacted Leslie, the registrar to set my kids up for the following year 2025-2026. Obviously, I would not take my son out over halfway through his current school that makes ZERO SENSE. It was very clear that I would be having 3 kids attending the 25-26 school year. Even asked if my children could start in summer of 25 so they could get used to coming to a new school prior to new year beginning. She assured me we have placement & they can all start in the summer. She even let me know the activities the children do in the summer. It was very much aware of when my children would be beginning. Back story...When I called to inquire prior to the tour she was so nice, let me know she had room for all 3 of my children and she would send me the enrollment pkts so I could have those completed by the tour & get my children enrolled. Even mailed us the enrollment packets by US Mail and they were strictly for the 2025-2026 school year. I emailed Leslie to see if she could move my tour appt earlier. She couldn't b/c she had a tour that day w/ an assessment immediately following. So, I moved my tour appt the following week. Took the day off of work, missed a field trip w/my older son and brought my 2 littles b/c she was adamant on them coming for the tour. I made sure to bring all my enrollment forms. Even brought my checkbook. The day of our tour I walk into the VERY TINY OFFICE, hand Mrs. Leslie our paperwork. I immediately watch her turn the enrollment packets to the IEP section for all 3 of my kids. That's when I notice her vibe, tone, & sweet attitude change b/c she noticed my 3yo son had an IEP. She got completely awkward. The tour felt like we were unwelcome. You could feel the elephant in the room. It was the MOST awkward tour I have ever had out of all the schools I visited, & I immediately felt it after she looked at my kids IEP sections. She didn't even show my younger kids inside the preschool area. The whole reason I brought them. She just walked us by doors pointing at them saying that's the preschool class. That's the 2nd grade class. Etc. Showed us the preschool playground but not where my older son would be. Then walked us out. It was literally 5 min. Seriously, what kind of tour is this? Oh, that's right she literally didn't want us there and you could tell. By the end of the 5 min I asked Mrs. Leslie so can I write you a check, set up my son's assessment to get enrolled? Like they allowed the child the wk prior to take an assessment immediately following their tour. She says oh so we're going to be placing your children on a waitlist. I said hold on a minute, what?! You told me you had placement for my children that's why I came, filled out all this paperwork etc. She said, we have to see if your son passes the assessment first. I said, I would like to get him scheduled. Then preceded to say well I have to check with Mr. Taylor, let me contact him and get back to you. I hear nothing from her & contact her to follow up. She then proceeds to tell me that Mr. Taylor wants to give time to the current students to be able to pass. And then after we will contact you if there's room. I email her back asking why did you tell me you had placement for my kids, send enrollment packets if it switched to this now. She said she "misunderstood" and thought I was applying to this current 24-25 year. Like don't give me this nonsense. You even sent 25-26 pkts knowing that's when my kids would be attending. You allowed a child to take an assessment the wk prior, but, my child is not ok to do assessments? Leslie, you're a horrible person. You discriminated against my children. You don't even have the audacity to check w/me what my son's IEP involves. INSTEAD, YOU JUDGED US AND DISCRIMINATED AGAINST MY CHILD. By the way my son only needs speech services, I take him to those so the school would not have had to do anything. YOU ARE A HORRIBLE PERSON AND I HOPE WHEN YOU PASS AWAY YOU CAN ANSWER TO GOD for DISCRIMINATING AGAINST HIS CHILDREN. THE PASTORS SHOULD BE AWARE OF YOUR DISGUSTING BEHAVIOR UNLESS THIS IS THE BEHAVIOR THEY ALLOW. YOU ARE A FAKE INDIVIDUAL AND I HOPE KARMA BITES YOU BUT AGAIN IM LEAVING IT IN GODS HANDS TO DEAL W/YOU ACCORDINGLY. Do not send your kids here. I attended from 1st to 8th grade (2011-2019). Elementary school was an okay experience; meanwhile, in middle school, the teachers began to spread hateful rhetoric to the children. ie. being gay is unnatural, transgenderism is an abomination, abortion is murder and you will be punished (even in cases of rape) etc. I believe that it is okay for teachers to have these individual beliefs if they align with their interpretation of the Bible; we are allowed religious freedom in this country. However, hate and judgment towards others regarding your personal beliefs should NOT be pushed onto young children, or random people in general!! God is the only one who is allowed to judge people for their sins, yet these teachers (mainly Bible teacher(s) in particular) would encourage individual judgment on people in these situations, spreading stories to students about how he would go out in public, telling transgender people that their way of living is wrong and that they aren't a "real woman", they need to go to church and turn to Christ, convincing a pregnant 12 year old student NOT to get an abortion although she was smoking cigarettes during pregnancy and would likely give birth to a child with defects??? etc. There is much more where that came from that I can't include in here. Spreading hate and criticizing people for their identity/situation is the worst way to get people to join a religion, and the worst way to practice Christianity. Jesus was friends with prostitutes, criminals; he loves all His children regardless of their sin, and is the only one who is allowed to judge. Yes, as Christians, it is our mission to push people in the right direction and encourage them to have Christlike values, but this is absolutely the wrong way to go about it. Honestly, this school gave me religious trauma because of how forceful and extreme they are with their beliefs (might be a crazy concept for some, but yes, religious trauma is a thing). Although I am a Christian still, and I am all about raising children this way if that is what you choose to do, I strongly believe there is a limit to what these children should be taught. Religion is very complex and hard for small children/adolescents to process and understand. When extreme beliefs are taught to them, it can be scary and confusing. When the idea of eternal condemnation in hell is taught to them, it can be very anxiety-inducing. Especially if you are LGBTQ..... I am bisexual, and it was very difficult for me to come to terms with because of the upbringing I had. Many of my friends who also went to this school are LGBTQ as well (I wanna say about 4 of my close friends), and I cannot imagine how they must have felt when they sat in class, being told that their way of living is wrong and that their existence is an abomination. This school is extremely homophobic and hateful. I vividly remember one day in middle school changing in the locker rooms for PE. This one student came to school with a new pixie haircut, and the PE teacher started aggressively questioning her while she was changing her PE clothes about why she got that haircut, why she was trying to look like a boy, and saying that she should never have thoughts like that. Insane. Imagine how vulnerable and uncomfortable that poor girl must have felt. Seriously, why are we bullying children over a haircut, during a time in their life when it's normal to experiment with fashion? Please avoid at all costs. The price of tuition and trauma, and confusion that kids have to deal with in this school is not at all worth trading for a "prestigious" education. read more

We transferred from a different private school where my daughter came home upset and sad every single day. We were very aware of how our outgoing and social girl was struggling at that school. We decided to take her out and start her in Tabernacle. The difference of experiences was night and day. Our girl jumps out of bed to go to school in the morning and is sad to miss when she's sick. ( She even tries to get us to sign her up for aftercare when school is out for the day :) we've now been at this school for 3 years and we truly couldn't be happier. Every single teacher we've met has been a rockstar. The kind that you can tell truly care about teaching and their students and not the kind that just clock in for a job. I love how organized this school is and how informed I always am about events and things going on. We always get advanced notice for field trips or parties etc. They put on really cute activities for the kids including family movie night which is one of our favorites. The office staff always go above and beyond. Our children are all thriving here and we are very happy with the education they are getting. read more

The bullying at this school is like nothing I have ever seen and I was a teacher at another school. The staff sweep major issues under the rug and the whole time they have you thinking they care about the children. When I attended, Tabernacle was full of sadistic administrators and teachers who enjoyed beating children with wooden paddles. The school shared facilities with a church, and I never once saw any kids who attended their church get paddled. I attended a church that didn't fit their particular brand of "Christianity," and I got paddled regularly for minor things like talking in class or coming back late from recess because I had to wait to use the bathroom. I even got paddled for calling out a bully. Nothing happened to the bully. Ridiculous. I guess if you hate your children and would love to see them bullied and beaten, then by all means, send them to Tabernacle. If you love them, steer very clear. read more

I attended Tabernacle Christian School from Kindergarten through 8th grade. I do not follow Tabernacle's particular Christian ideology. In my humble opinion, Creationism and science are not mutually exclusive. Nor do I believe that there is only one "correct" religion. From this point of view, I believe that Tabernacle impresses some questionable beliefs onto the malleable minds of its students. However, Tabernacle is a private school that operates within its First Amendment right. Don't like it? Send your kid to another school. Despite my theological differences, I sincerely cherished my time at Tabernacle. I made a number of close friends that I continue to remain in contact with. The students were, for the most part, well-behaved. I did not witness any instances of serious bullying, drugs, weapons, etc. The teachers were also truly concerned about their students' well-being and education. The curriculum was fairly rigorous and prepared me for my first year of high school. I also enjoyed a number of other perks at Tabernacle. The computer classes were highly practical! I even learned to type 60 WPM prior to the beginning of Junior High. The interscholastic sports program was a lot of fun. Playing soccer for Tabernacle was one of my favorite grade school memories. The elective PE courses offered students opportunities to gain new skills (e.g. Golf Class). The foreign language courses were enlightening. These courses prepared me to succeed in my high school Spanish classes. Would I send my child to Tabernacle? Tough question. I'll cross that bridge sometime in the next decade. With that said, I am confident that Tabernacle continues to be place where students develop academically, socially, and ethically. read more

My daughter has been going to school here for a few years. We have feel in love with this school. The staff and teachers are great. My daughter went to Queen of all Saints and we pulled her out because she was not learning. We have seen a big difference since she has been going to this school. I attended this school for years myself. Looking back I have to admit I have some really great memories... except a painful crush on a girl I sat next to for years (due to alphabetic seating) that I had no courage to do anything about. Sigh. Anyhoo.... I did drama at this school (even won a blue ribbon as King Arthur during a big production), played sports, excelled in running (not so much today), learned computer skills (such as computers were way back when), enjoyed some great teachers (kudos to Mr Souza for teaching me the perfect free-throw shot) and generally had a great education experience. I admittedly don't know if standards today have changed but I can say that I turned out pretty well if I don't say so myself. read more

I love this school. They care about the families and the kids. They have 6-6 (6am to 6pm) care available for those who need it and their prices are great for the care and education received and when compared to other schools. This is my sons fourth year at Tabernacle. I feel comfortable and confident leaving my child there for 9-9.5 hours. The daycare staff is extremely organized. Many of them are alumni students. They have three main fundraisers throughout the year: back to school night , jog-a-thon and the crabfeed. Each fundraiser is fun, super organized and a great success. During the summer they have fun activities and field trips scheduled each week. I have nothing but praises to sing on the teachers, Ms. Lisa and Laurie, principals and the daycare folks! I attended school here from kindergarten through the 8th grade. My husband and I will also be sending our daughter there next year as well. As with anything, there are positives and negatives, but I can honestly say that my time spent at Tabernacle was filled with positive experiences. The class sizes were always very small which meant more one on one attention from the teachers. I wish that they offered a sex ed class, but I have zero problem with educating my daughter myself on the issue. I always loved my teachers and still keep in touch with many of them 20 years later. 6th Grade. Middle School. We made the difficult decision to move to Tabernacle at the end of 5th grade. We had looked at several schools. CTK, St. Francis, St. Agnes. We had come from a very small, private school. A school that our son had attended since Kinder. A school we loved and cherished and the move was unbelievably emotional and heart-wrenchingly difficult. History, comfort, stability, familiarity. A school that had given our son every opportunity and every opportunity to excel. We knew he had outgrown this incredible school, but we needed to find an environment and academic platform that would continue to nurture and challenge and propel him. Provide that all important stepping stone and prepare him for HS. From the moment we met with the Principal, Mr. Taylor, and the unbelievably open and inclusive greetings from the kids, we knew, this was home for the next 3 years. We had our concerns - coming from a class of 12 to 27. iPads instead of text books. Having to make friends anew...He is flourishing. He is challenged. He is stepping up to that Challenge. He is happy. He is engaged. He is spiritually and physically in the best place EVER! Thank you, Tabernacle!! For embracing our son and giving him the tools to be all that he can be. read more

Dear Tabernacle, Please STOP sending me your 'hello neighbor' flyer. We tried to enroll our son at your school a few years back. You were warm and friendly during our meeting until towards the end when you finally figured out (after numerous mentions on the phone and in person) that he has gay parents. Then your tone and manner changed and said the Tabernacle community would not be a good fit, and may even be hostile towards us. You then proceeded to tell us about the little girl that had two moms who only lasted six month and transferred out because of being ostracized. Kids learn from their parents and their teachers- the adults in their everyday lives. We're glad you showed your true colors before we were subjected to your 'inclusiveness.' I thought I've moved on, and left this bad experience behind. But you keep sending your FALSE 'Welcome to the neighborhood' JUNK mail, so here I am on Yelp saying, Thanks, but no thanks. I was truly shocked by the post written below. Now, I realize this was a couple years ago but WOW! I came from family that had high expectations when it came to education so I was so very picky when looking at schools for my little one. My daughter started Jr. Kindergarten there this year and I have to say that I couldnt be happier. She is learning things on the Jr. K level that my friends who have their kids in other schools arent learning in 1st grade! The classes are small, and the teachers are very warm and loving. The school itself has a strong sense of family and values plus she gets religious instruction without having it crammed in your face. They call themselves an Open Heart School, which means basically yes, it is religion based but there is no expectation to donate a ton of the money to the "church" in order to have your child attend their school, and no pressure to attend their church, which I personally love. I would recommend this school to anybody in a heartbeat. read more

This was my daughters second year at Tabernacle. I cannot say enough awesome things about the teachers she had while in 1st grade. Her teacher Mrs.Z suggested a resource class after discovering that my daughter was struggling academically. That's when I met Mrs. M who walked me through the program that she has had many years of success with and knew my daughter would do wonderfully in. We have all seen positive results and growth in my daughter and she is so proud of herself to! These ladies are the true meaning of what a teacher is and what should be and I'm extremely grateful and blessed to have had them! We love this school!! We now have our 4th child there and she is thriving!! This school has great academics, Bible lessons, music, sports, art, computer, Spanish, cooking, etc. They provide a well rounded education. The students learn public speaking early so there is no fear. The school celebrates each child's gifts through their award ceremonies. Tabernacle helps throughout the world and in our local area through their community outreach partnerships. When family tragedies have struck, the Tabernacle families banded together to help with whatever was needed. Once the kids graduate from Tabernacle, they are kind, respectful people who are considerate of others. True, lifelong friendships are developed. Our oldest is now in his late 20s and he still sees his Tabernacle friends regularly. We highly recommend this school!! read more

This school is a JOKE.......The principle does not do his job. As long as you pay your kid will pass. They cover true "grade" for your child. My daughter was there for 6 years and thinking she was getting a good education but when I moved her and she took an entrance exam for another school she was tested 2 grades below her grade. They are friends with parents and do not care about the kids. The principle does not handle issues but cover up. There were bullying at school but he did not handle it with the child's parents. My daughter has been attending this school since 1st grade. She is now in 4th grade and I couldn't be happier with the education she is receiving. She is learning Spanish, computers and Violin in addition to the regular 4th grade curriculum. They teach the children to be kind to one another and they teach them about Christianity. My daughter has attended tabernacle since kindergarten. We (her included) love this school. In kindergarten at the beginning of the year they told us she would be reading by the end of the first quarter. I didn't believe it, but by December she was reading signs on the road. As a 4th grader now, her education is well rounded. She has all the basic subjects plus music, spanish, P.E., computers and art. She has homework every day and though it seems like a lot I know these are building blocks for diligence and work ethics throughout her life. I have to say I'm taken aback by many of the reviews on other sites I've read regarding the religious aspect of this school. The children study about Jesus, learn and memorize biblical scripture, and are taught biblical principles. And yes, they learn creationism. I'm not sure why this would come as a surprise to people.....This is a Christian school. I can certainly understand why someone who believed Darwin's theory would be put off by creationism and this is probably not the school for that person. There are many great schools in the bay area for those who want an excellent education without the Christian faith and/or bible being taught to their children. But, if you want your child to learn what it means to be a follower of Jesus, a reader and doer of biblical principals AND you want them to be loved, nurtured and educated in a manner exceeding the standard then Tabernacle is the choice for you. read more

Tabernacle school cares about my child. She has been there for 5 years now. The administration communicates very well by email and phone. Their tuition cost is very reasonable for the quality of education my child receives. Their hours are great if you need before or after school child care. They're open from 6:30-6:30. They also have Spanish, music, art, computers and PE. They have successful fundraisers as well. They have quarterly awards for the children so they can be recognized for their hard work. Starting in 6th grade the children use computers in each class instead of carrying around multiple books. They are very organized about drop off and pick up. The grades all start and end at different times so there's not a huge line of cars during those times. The principal and vice principal are there to help your child get out of your car every morning. I know my child is safe at this school. She loves Tabernacle! I highly suggest this school. read more

Ok so heres the thing. I went to this school. They have started doing alot of things online, which made things alot easier gradewise and I cruised through on that. But the teachers, ugh! I wasnt a troublemaking student but I could see the way they treated others. They made me and others feel small and stupid by giving us rude looks when we asked completely appropriate questions. Or, when you would say you didnt understand or could they repeat again, they would say no and tell you to pay better attention. The electives program was very nice though, offering a wide selection of choices for everyone. I had alot of fun with them! Junior High was a lot more enjoyable than elementry school ( in my case) I liked how intelligent the bible teacher was, and how he wouldnt give us alot of homework, but he would give intresting lectures on supernatraul things, and problems in the real world. The school was very close minded and they would force us to stand up and take off our jackets in the (chilly) chapel. I thought that was very unnecessary. The kids were nice though, and I have made close friends there. not quite sure what was up with the disciplinary system though..... Would I send my child here? Eh, maybe. read more
