The Monte Gardens Elementary School (MGES) is the only magnet public school with special programs in the Mt. Diablo Unified School District, MDUSD. The long standing reputation of test scores, diversity and parent participation thrive its success. Due to the highly competitive lottery process, only less than 30% of kids want to attend this school is accepted in the MDUSD. For those families who live in the MDUSD territories and care about kid's education, it's a certain consideration to begin your child's education. The lottery registration typically happen in the January of one year before the kid's KG school year. For instance, if your kid plans to start KG in 2025, parent registers the lottery in January, 2024. Check with the admin staff for the lottery registration date. Since the magnet school likewise a public school in the private setting, the MGES focus more on the students' success rather than the customer service in the profit oriented private school. Therefore, parents are recommended to plan 2.5 years before the KG school year. It is always helpful to go in person for getting the lottery information. Admin staffs are very helpful and give you all relevant information. "The return of investment in the early child education is exponential, Jeff Bezos".

The administration didn't do much to stop the violence, it really just sorted itself out which was lucky. The principal was an unenthusiastic mess, she focused on minor problems like dress code and running in the halls instead of the violence that happened all over campus, and really never solved problems brought up by students/counselors. My teachers were overall pretty good, but some were terrible. My eighth grade math teacher Mr. Woolridge, was an oaf. He didn't know how to spell or even do the curriculum. He strictly went by the book and only went over problems were they give you the answers. Luckily he was fired and left right after the 2024 school year ended. Overall I can say that the school has gotten better since 2022, but is still a violent and overall lacking education and administration wise.

It was the most uncomfortable feeling I have ever had going to the Admin Office. I all ways felt the atmosphere or mood of the office starts from the top. Talking to several teachers they all have delicately said Principle Bain is very busy and has alot on her mind which is why she doesn't engage in a positive friendly manner with parents or students. I just stared back at the teachers in disbelief they just smiled back what else can they do if they want to keep their job's.

**Title:** Deeply Concerned About How This School Handles Safety and Communication…read more **Review:** I'm writing this review as a deeply concerned parent about an incident that occurred on **October 16, 2025**, at **El Dorado Middle School**. Despite another parent giving the school an advance warning about a potential weapon being brought onto campus, the school administration **dismissed those concerns**. When the situation finally escalated, the response was alarming, not only because of the incident itself but because of how it was handled afterward. My son who was only a witness and not the actual student that brought this BB gun to school was **searched and questioned by police officers**, and at no point did the school **notify me or reach out** to explain what was happening. I had to find out by my son via text as it was happening ,which is completely unacceptable. As parents, we trust schools with our children's safety and well-being. That trust is broken when serious matters like this are treated with such **a lack of transparency, urgency, and communication**. Regardless of the outcome, parents deserve to be informed immediately if their child is involved in or affected by such a situation. Despite multiple emails to the principal i've only gotten a dismissive response & to follow up the school board hasn't even bothered to give a response back to this situation!

From the very beginning, the sense of community stood out. The teachers are not only knowledgeable, but genuinely invested in their students' success. They go out of their way to support each student individually, whether it's academic help, college guidance, or just being there as a mentor. My daughter feels seen, encouraged, and challenged in the best possible way. Academically, the school offers a strong and well-rounded curriculum with plenty of opportunities for students to explore their interests, whether that's advanced classes, arts, athletics, or extracurricular activities. There's a real emphasis on developing confident, well-rounded young adults, not just good test-takers. What I appreciate most is the environment. It's supportive, inclusive, and motivating. Students are encouraged to be themselves while also striving for excellence. There's a healthy balance between academics and personal growth, which has made a huge difference in my daughter's confidence and independence. Communication with parents has also been excellent. We always feel informed and involved, and it's clear that the administration truly cares about both students and families. If you're looking for a high school where your child will be challenged, supported, and inspired, I highly recommend Carondolet. It has been a wonderful experience for our family.

There was a distinct difference between how the boys were treated and how the girls were treated during my stay at Carondelete. I was a student there a long time ago. Far before Yelp! however I feel that my experience needs to be shared with prospective students and their families.. I would never, as an alumni send my daughter to Carondelete. Save your money. This school will teach your daughter that she is less than her male schoolmates. For example, during a coed civics class the boys claimed that the woman victim in the famous Miranda case (the case that enshrined the right for every suspect to be informed of their legal rights in a language they could understand) should have been raped if she suffered such an offense! This conversation was glossed over by the school administration. No pupil or instructor suffered any disciplinary action. In fact, by being offended by the assertion that the female victim in the Miranda case should have been raped rather than have her purse stolen, I was made to feel like an outcast. I can not stress it enough. If you value your daughter's autonomy and her sense of self, do not send her to this school.

The kids are bright and quirky and kind, and the teachers and leadership truly understand how to support 2E/ASD kids in ways that will prepare them for life after high school. My teen has become so independent in just a year at Orion, and I am confident that this will only increase as they begin the transitions program in 11th grade. Social emotional, speech, executive function, and self-regulation support is cohesively built into all aspects of every class in ways that are clearly transferable to other settings during and post-high school. The school is 100% committed to helping prepare every student for whatever their goals are for after high school. As a bonus, the school is super sensory friendly in all ways, something no public school IEP can really accommodate for. Dr. Stewart has designed a real gem of a school!

The school refused any responsibility. The school said keeping kids from porn and obsessive use was a parenting issue. Secondly, they have no physical education for already resistant kids. They made it mandatory for parents to provide PE after school and on weekends. Overstressed, overtired parents battled to get homework done. and did their best but failed.
