We specifically did not want him exposed to ideas currently permeating popular culture or to receive any education that we do not agree with. We also did not want him distracted by women in the classroom. He played lacrosse for 4 years at De La Salle, graduated with honors and went on to earn his bachelor's and then his MBA. He is literally a "straight shooter," votes for conservative values, a committed capitalist, and extremely patriotic. Except for the occasional beer, he does not smoke, does not take any mind altering drugs of any type, highly disciplined, and self motivated. Because of his education and training at this high school, he is gainfully employed, became a millionaire at 26, and a multimillionaire at 30. Isn't this what the high school experience ought to be?? What's not to like???

The tennis courts are in good condition, but often have trash around the sides of the court. The track is inexcusably disgusting. There is so much garbage on and around it. Don't the students in detention need something to do? Or couldn't a Phys. Ed. teacher make the kids do squats and lunges for exercise, while picking up garbage? I bring a garbage bag with me on weekends and pick up some of the trash. And I'm not the only person doing this here. I see other people (mostly searching for recyclables) but with bags of their own. It's really terrible. It'd be nice to see parents take some action on this. They must drive past it every morning too. The road into the school is the worst of them all. Going both in and out of the school; it's very sad. I live less than a mile away and it's incomprehensible how many empty Starbucks cups and candy wrappers are littered in front of our home. Who is setting the kind of example that makes kids think this behavior is okay? I had a lot of friends that went here (back in the late 90s) but I ended up at Acalanes in Lafayette. Our campus did not look like a garbage dump and I feel sad for the students that see this every day.

If you're looking for the best school in the area for your child, look no further! While the school…read moreis highly academic, they are able to meet every child where they're at academically, while still caring for them, socially and emotionally. They care about each child as a whole and that is the biggest difference I've noticed from other schools. They really do care about each child and their success so much. I have 3 children who have attended this school. One from preschool all the way through 8th grade and we have had the best experience. They are able to offer testing and academic resources for children needing more help. The curriculum and teacher style are excellent. The school feels very safe. The facilities are very nice and clean. The school's online platform and technology are excellent. They also offer sports teams for junior high. The elementary and junior high are a little more separated, both programs and teachers have been absolutely excellent. My 8th graders was Very prepared for high school. This is a happy school! The staff are happy, the children are happy and the parents are happy to be there! It's a wonderful and diverse community. Although it feels a little separate from the church, there is a strong religious component. I tell people all the time, this is the BEST school! I cannot recommend it more highly.

We had high hopes for North Creek Academy, but the TK assessment process was incredibly…read morefrustrating. Expecting 4-year-olds to already be writing and recognizing letters feels academically misplaced for a Transitional Kindergarten level. What's worse is the inconsistency--it's clear the "rules" don't apply to everyone, as kids who can't yet write their names are accepted while the process remains a "black box" for everyone else. It feels more like a biased "who you know" system than a transparent evaluation of a child's readiness. We also noticed during our tour that the school's diversity is very low. In today's world, we want our children to learn in an environment that reflects the broader community, and we didn't see that here. Definitely something to consider if transparency and inclusion are priorities for your family.

From the very beginning, the sense of community stood out. The teachers are not only knowledgeable, but genuinely invested in their students' success. They go out of their way to support each student individually, whether it's academic help, college guidance, or just being there as a mentor. My daughter feels seen, encouraged, and challenged in the best possible way. Academically, the school offers a strong and well-rounded curriculum with plenty of opportunities for students to explore their interests, whether that's advanced classes, arts, athletics, or extracurricular activities. There's a real emphasis on developing confident, well-rounded young adults, not just good test-takers. What I appreciate most is the environment. It's supportive, inclusive, and motivating. Students are encouraged to be themselves while also striving for excellence. There's a healthy balance between academics and personal growth, which has made a huge difference in my daughter's confidence and independence. Communication with parents has also been excellent. We always feel informed and involved, and it's clear that the administration truly cares about both students and families. If you're looking for a high school where your child will be challenged, supported, and inspired, I highly recommend Carondolet. It has been a wonderful experience for our family.

There was a distinct difference between how the boys were treated and how the girls were treated during my stay at Carondelete. I was a student there a long time ago. Far before Yelp! however I feel that my experience needs to be shared with prospective students and their families.. I would never, as an alumni send my daughter to Carondelete. Save your money. This school will teach your daughter that she is less than her male schoolmates. For example, during a coed civics class the boys claimed that the woman victim in the famous Miranda case (the case that enshrined the right for every suspect to be informed of their legal rights in a language they could understand) should have been raped if she suffered such an offense! This conversation was glossed over by the school administration. No pupil or instructor suffered any disciplinary action. In fact, by being offended by the assertion that the female victim in the Miranda case should have been raped rather than have her purse stolen, I was made to feel like an outcast. I can not stress it enough. If you value your daughter's autonomy and her sense of self, do not send her to this school.

Because we applied a bit late, we were placed on the waitlist, which we completely understood. What was disappointing was the total lack of follow-up after that point. Despite reaching out directly to the admissions officer to inquire about our waitlist status, we never received a response -- not even a simple notification that a spot was no longer available. When a family pays a $100 application fee, there is a reasonable expectation of communication and transparency throughout the process. To add to the frustration, we continued to receive marketing emails about summer programs despite never hearing back about our child's application. The disconnect between their marketing outreach and their admissions communication was striking. We can't speak to the school itself, but based solely on the application experience, the lack of follow-through left a poor impression.

Sonder Creek has absolutely been the best school for my child. We were looking at a wide variety of…read moreschools (public, non religious private, and religious private) to see what would be the best fit and I can tell you from the moment we reached out with interest, to the tour, to our child having his first 1/2 day visit there, we knew this was his school.  Staff is knowledgeable and knows my child to a depth that truly sets him up for success. It also makes me feel comfortable that they are doing everything in their power to help my child succeed and thrive. I love that they allow him to excel academically (even past his grade level) as well as support him with challenging subjects (teachers stay current with where he's at and are skilled at providing support very quickly if the child needs it while also keeping parents in the loop so we can help when needed too) while allowing him to stay with his grade level of peers so he's not only being cultivated in the classroom, but also learning to be social amongst peers his age. A big concern of mine was coming out of covid, my child wanted to so desperately make friends, but I know sometimes kids show no mercy. At Sonder Creek, overall it's been way over my expectations. Very involved parents, attentive staff that keeps you in the loop, and students who are open to connecting to one another.  My child has loved the STEM programs at school (especially the after school robotics class) as well as learning both Mandrin and Spanish (coming from an English speaking household, it's been amazing seeing him now speak another language which we will continue to encourage moving forward). He also is asking to do the after school Art program and this is coming from a child who started off barely wanting to hold a pencil correctly.  The community here is so special and you get to see that when everyone comes together. This was our first year we participated in Trunk or Treat with his school and it was such a blast; we will be doing it again next year. The international potluck is a family favorite to attend (combo of incredible foods from all over as well as mini performances from the language programs with the students is so darn adorable) and the Christmas Concert is absolutely precious. Sonder Creek is our child's school and we cannot recommend it enough.

I read a few comments complaining about the Biblical views, well, this is after all a Christian School that teaches Biblical truth and not a watered down version of it. Berean actually applies the Bible as God has commanded, so it is appropriate that the school is against certain behaviors and actions. As a parent I appreciate that and my son seems to find it a great place to be. This school is truly a gem for believing parents and teenagers in the Bay Area.

Throughout my time at the school, I experienced repeated bullying and racist remarks from other students. Despite these incidents being brought to the attention of staff, little to nothing was done to address the situation appropriately. What made the experience even more upsetting was the clear favoritism shown by staff toward certain students. Discipline and school policies, especially the dress code, seemed to be enforced unfairly. I was dress coded numerous times for outfits that other students wore without consequence, which made the treatment feel inconsistent and discriminatory. The environment at the school became so toxic and emotionally draining that I eventually transferred to another high school because the bullying had become unbearable. Instead of feeling safe and supported in what should have been a positive Christian environment, I felt isolated, targeted, and silenced for most of my time there. In my opinion, the school did not reflect the values of Christianity, such as kindness, fairness, compassion, and inclusion. No student should feel forced to leave a school because of bullying, racism, or unequal treatment.
