We belong to the Mt. Diablo School District. Yes, I know, we should have found that out before we bought our home. Actually, our real estate agent did tell us about school districts, but somehow we didn't really focus on it since he was 3 at the time and it seemed so far far away. Anyway, back to the story, we were diappointed. THEN, when we went to the enrollment day, which they call "All-in-One" day, we found out that the school has involved parents, good teachers, and even a foundation. AND, this sounds crazy, EVEN A COMPUTER LAB FOR KINDERGARTENERS -- yeah, they go once a week. The downsides of the school are the same that any school has: fundraisers that are optional (but not really), budget issues (this upcoming 08-09 year will be even tougher), and turnover of principals (we had three principals for the 07-08 school year). But the school really does its best to make new families feel welcome - giving plenty of opportunities for volunteerism that involve little time to once a week (probably more). And the parent involvement and the dreaded fundraising help fill the gap of the funding from the government. We feel very lucky that our kids go to this school.

Not only will your children get sick because other neglectful parents still take their kids to school even when sick. Your child might also come home with lice. Teachers talk to your child with out consent from the parents. My son was stripped to search for any bruises or marks on him since a lady spoke to my son and told him to say a bunch of lies dealing with CPS is the worst trust me they put my son through hell my son was suicidal due to them teaching my son two languages at the same time my son does not speak Spanish what so ever. She stated the reason why my son was the way he is is due to him not having a dad and only having two females as his moms. My sibling's children come here now and they love it just as much as I do! My daughter had a wonderful experience here as a student and she wishes she could go back as she wraps up high school. Me and my family love taking our kids here and the staff is wonderful and I would really recommend to enroll your kids in the summer to attend El Monte. This school is great overall as they have events, kind students, and respectful staff.
