My two grandsons go there and just loved their kindergarten teacher Ms Lingenfelter and now the oldest is in first grade is impressed with his first grade teacher Ms. Smith they are wonderful ladies. What we can't get is that nowadays quite a few grandparents are raising their grand kids due to the parents of the lovely children. Some of us grandparents have their grandchildren due to the miss conduct of their parents, ie, drug, guns, etc., and are afraid that at any given time someone has threatened them and their children. As the guardians of these little guys we keep them safe from strangers and harm when they are with us but when we let them go to school we want to be safe that the gates are locked and when the EXIT is on a gate that means EXIT only, no entrance of anyone at any time. My youngest son was allowed to enter into the kindergarten play yard and he has no children in that school and has not been on the school grounds this year for the new parents or some of the old ones to see this year but yet someone leaving held the gate open for him since he was running in that direction. This was an issue last year when a child was pleaded to open the gate and a non parent was on the school ground and roaming around before he was approached by office personnel and escorted off the premises before something regretful happened, so please when i make a remark to you about this gate being exit only, heed my concern for the safety of my grandsons and your children.

A lack of homework, consistent education, report card or progress reports. My child also lost his music teacher in fall with no replacements and just lost hope. Nobody took over. I messages the principal and was met with excused and lack of response. When I raised concern for lack of proper education and who would fill the gap the principal didn't even respond. My child was disappointed with the lack of education, support. And an ability for a sub to provide structure. My child is excited to leave this school and get proper education elsewhere. His friends who attend other schools are getting C's and saying the work is too hard to get an A. My son was taught the fundamentals that started with John Muir. My daughter is a 4.0 student. She reads 1 hour per day, every day. She also plays the piano for 50 minutes every day. My wife at times will help with the class. I find teachers want to come to teach at John Muir leaving their teaching jobs from such areas as Concord and Danville. This says a lot in my book. Most of the teachers do not put up with disturbance from the child. Some parents do not like this because they want babysitters, not teachers. I see some parents going through the motions like they are involved, but they are more involved with Facebook and talking gossip. I must admit, I too sometime get drawn in, but I stop it when my children are invovled. John Muir and the staff are among the best you will ever find. If you want them to challenge your child so that he may be ready for college, they will. If you want them to babysit, well, maybe this school is not for you.

My daughter found this when she enrolled him into Hilltop Christian School. He has grown so much and this was because of the wonderful teachers and aides at the Hilltop Christian Preschool. He started with Mrs. Hillary where she helped him mature and focus while learning about Jesus in a safe and non judgmental classroom. She cares about her children and their families. After he left her class, he was promoted to his pre k class where Mrs. Dorothy Coker took over. She provided him with structure and discipline to prepare him for Kindergarten. She works so hard to make sure that her students are prepared for Kindergarten. They are so innovative when it comes to assignments and programs that they put on throughout the year. Yesterday we attended the Pre-K graduation and they did not disappoint. They made sure that all of the graduates felt special and appreciated. Thank you Hilltop Christian Pre-School for the work that you do year round. Your love for the children that you are entrusted with show in all that you do. Unfortunately she is very unprofessional in her communication style because it is embedded with microaggressions. When she judges you to be someone she doesn't like / who is "not good enough" for her standards / or you don't do something in the way she wants it done, she will make it clear in how she treats you; and charges you extra fees. For instance, this last Christmas when she decided each student in the class needed to buy every single other student in the class a present for gift exchange, our family couldn't do that this year due to financial hardship so we were met with a negative attitude and she has treated us and our daughter poorly ever since. We are pulling our daughter out immediately because the last thing we want her to think is that that this type of behavior demonstrated by Miss Dorothy is Godlike or something to aspire to.
