"You *race* people always be doin' this [Insert remark about how this race negatively impacts others]." "You *race* people are why [Insert some remark about how everyone of this race negatively impacts others]. These types of statements have been used throughout the school, by staff/ teachers. A mixed race girl was sent away by staff involved in a race specific program, because she was "too white" (for being half white). I've also witnessed a male P.E. teacher accept flirtatious behavior from female students who did not have to engage in the P.E. activity, while keeping their good grades, as well as have him discuss his personal relationships with students. This was all before the remodel, so I don't know if it's the same staff.

She (Maria Campbell - LMC Welding Instructor) / lacks to provide adequate welding material saying "you're just going to have to make due." in addition she criticizes and doesn't correct or give adequate explanations on how to do something, everything is rushed and half assed, the amount of student to teacher time in the shop is at most 5 minutes / this is without constant pressure from a student asking for help and to be given an example. In addition, she penalizes students who have to leave early when they have work early AM the next morning. Never in my 5 semesters have I heard or been told by a professor "welcome to the real world." In response to me letting her know I would be leaving at around 8:30pm due to me having to be up at 04:45am the next morning. Im extremely disgusted and disappointed with how she conducts, handles, speaks, and teaches, she lacks knowledge of the field and does not have enough time under her belt to be a adequate welding professor. I am not sure who Norma is talking about, but I have worked right along side the Janitor at Turner during an Earth day event. He is a very upbeat guy and is very kind to the kids. The principal here is TOPS! She did a great job getting this school under control from a very organized drop off all the way through to the equally organized pick up after school. She also has a very firm yet fair approach to running her school. She always addresses the students and parents in a respectful manner regardless of the situation. The demographics in the area are the sole reason for the 3 star review. There are many children here that come from rough/ or ESL homes and the school is doing many things to get these kids any assistance they need, however the sheer volume of disadvantaged children brings down the overall performance of the school. The PARENTS that come to school and make a scene are another part of the problem, My son was very distraught after witnessing a belligerent parent berating a staff member with foul language and aggressive behavior. The student belonging to this "parent" joined in telling the staff member to "shut up". While few and far between, these incidents do occur at Turner. This is the unfortunate reality of the entire School District as well as many other school districts in the area. The food being horrible (as described by the other reviewer) is also not the fault of the school. This is due to a much bigger problem that affects nearly all public schools barring those located within very wealthy areas like Alamo or San Anselmo. (If you want to have lunch envy go look up what those kids are served!) In summary, both of my children have done quite well here and we are sad to go but we are moving so we must.
