But overall, when the kids aren't in class, for example, at recess or after school club, they are so friendly and so nice and very energetic.

The email let me know they would not except my son due to the fact that he has two mom's. I was so excited at the thought that my son could be more educated than I was about the Bible and have faith in god. I definitely feel defeated and restricted at this point as to where I can go or who will accept my child. We were rejected by the very people I thought could help us. Bottom line, to save yourself heartacke If you are a same sex household do not apply here. I gave one star because my initial phone call was amazing, the women I spoke with was incredible nice. Of course I hadn't mentioned my son had two moms on the phone as I did know it was relavent.

As a parent you will have to initiate communication with staff, otherwise if your child is having issues you may or may not be contacted, but once school officials know that you are receptive, they will reach out with concerns. The band/music program has been re-introduced, very positive move, although participation rate seems quite low. Negative aspects outweigh, the positives, by a landslide. It seems that the PARENTS, of many AMS students, have forgotten to teach their children basic manners, morals, respect, and school etiquette. The dress code is not enforced AT ALL, uniforms where?? I frequent the campus and see 6th - 8th grade girls dressed in booty shorts, jeans shredded up, with holes, damn-near exposing their panties, halter and half tops with leggings galore, and skin tight dresses. 6th - 8th grade boys walking around, looking like they just rolled out of bed, in pj's and slides (how do you do PE in those?). 8 out of 10 kids are staring at cell phones, in and out of the classroom, at any given time. I've even observed kids eating bags of chips, sitting under tables, using profanity, and wandering around aimlessly during an active English class session. Signs indicate a high level of truancy and tardiness and not much being done to prevent it. Many physical fights have occurred on campus this school year, between students, and also student and teacher altercations. Bullying is prevalent as well. Overall I feel that this school needs a lot of work to bring it up to a decent standard. Parents definitely need to step-up, and play their parts (which may be a shot in the dark) and try to work with the staff, instead of against, in resurrecting old school educational values. Nostalgia wise this was the best school ever, all of their sports teams are really good, I had a…read morelot of fun attending this school with my friends But the fights and lockdowns last year were crazy, alot of fights, and on the second day of school there was a lockdown The school lunch is okay but I used to buy cookies and soda at the cafeteria after all of their lunches were completely gone. Some of the teachers there are very good teachers, like Ms foster, Ms osakwe, Mr anello, mr sheffield, and Ms mickey. There were a lot of good and bad moments at this school, but if you stay out of all the drama and fights, then this school isn't that bad I do think that they need to clean up the campus more as I see spit out gum on the concrete. But the libary looks really nice, they just remodeled it recently and it's completely different from the plain old library they used to have. So despite all the people saying its ghetto, it just depends on how you look at the school, some people have really bad experiences, but some people really enjoy this school alot like I did.
