Best customer service that we have had in a long time! The wine is fantastic, the ambiance is so laid back and so nice at the same time. This place is the perfect balance. We were able to sit on the back patio with our kids and dog, and order pizza from diavola which is next door (and avoid their line out the door for a table). 10 out of 10, we will totally be back! read more

I signed up for their wine club membership after visiting their winery in Sonoma. I received an email in February notifying me that I was charged for a wine shipment and that they would notify me again when it shipped. The email also stated that it would ship overnight. I never received any other communication. It's been about a month, and I still have not received the wines. I have tried emailing and calling, but I cannot reach anyone. Every time I call, it goes straight to voicemail. I had to reach out to my bank to dispute the charge. I do not recommend signing up for their wine club, and I don't understand how they can run a business like this. read more

Omg this place is AWESOME! Coolest downtown tasting room with super-chill vibe. Love the bartenders. Sebastian and Trey are so hospitable. Oh and the wines rock!! Killer Zinfandel and delectable Viognier (get it while you can - it's pretty special). I went for a special event and they were serving the most amazing tamales I've ever had in my life - they were soooo good I just wanted to sink into the comfy sectional leather couch and eat tamales and drink wine all day. Seriously. Someone please feed me unlimited tamales and pour Rancho Maria wines into my mouth. I'd be a happy camper. Perfectly located on the Square (we locals call it the Plaza!) nestled between my favorite Sonoma men's shop (Eraldi's) and my favorite jewelry shop (Sonoma Silver Company). Get in there if you're in Sonoma - you will love it! Cheers to Rancho Maria. They have the secret juice recipe for sure! read more

Review below, need to convey this: If you are a fan of Meyer lemons and/or Viognier. Just go here. This winery is relatively new to the square but the space looked inviting, so we gave it a shot. Five tastes for $15 was a great deal, and we'd had some good luck tasting for the day. Here goes...The first rose didn't do much for me, I skipped their Cuvée. I tasted it and was entirely fine with this decision. Then came the run of 2012-2014 Zinfandels, with a reserve, and at the bottom, a lonely Viognier. These were so drinkable. Pairings would be nice but in no way required. Had I been in the market, I'd have bought a case of the rest of the wines on the list. I was not ready for the Viognier, seriously. It was beautiful and bright and it still baffles me that grapes made this lovely citrusy wine. I definitely bought some, and this place certainly makes the list of relaxing yet engaged tasting rooms that I will be back to! read more

The wine tasting was very enjoyable. We liked their wines so ordered a case to be sent back home. The order received however was not complete. We never received an invoice with any details however I had written down the prices and shipping cost when ordered. The missing bottles were included in the amount charged to my card. I've left messages and sent emails but have not had any response at all. None. I would caution anyone about buying wine to be shipped from Rancho Maria. read more

What makes this tasting room unique is that you are getting Dry Creek wines in the center of Sonoma square. They specialize in Zinfandels and Petite Syrahs. I am very familiar with this vineyard. Before I tell you about the wines I'll give a brief history of the vineyard. Monte and Stella acquired the property and it was already producing zin and petite syrah. They initially started off selling the grapes to Mozzocco (famous for dc zins). After many years they started making some wine from their own grapes. It was a natural progression. They have great terroir and produced from it the best possible grapes they could. And now they produce fine wines from the ground up under the Rancho Maria label. Now to the Tasting Room. The vibe is nice and mellow, laid back, nice music. The décor is California mission with a pea gravel courtyard out back, bistro tables and a nice firepit. They style is reflective of their family, a beautiful mix of European and Hispanic cultures. Sebastian, the son and one of the owners, guides you through a tour of the wines with stops for vineyard history and their winemaking process along the way. You can really feel his passion for both his family and the work they put into the wines. What really surprised me was their Zin Rose. Don't confuse this with white zinfandel...completely different and so much better than it's similarly colored cousin. It is bone dry with great acidity, rose petal nose, white raspberries and citrus on the palate, with a nice minerality. I was excited to hear that they have a Viognier in progress. Not released yet, but I am a big lover of Viognier, and will wait patiently for the release. Their current release Zinfandels and Petite Syrah's are big, structured, age-able and beautifully tannic. I believe most wineries in the area can't hold a candle to the wines produced by this family. read more

This was the second stop to our wine tour in Sonoma. This place was very spacious and had air conditioning for the outrageously hot day. They are dog friendly and provide water for everyone including the dogs. The wines are great and they have a nice selection to taste from. We were allowed to take our time and enjoy the wine with the air conditioning! I let the dogs run freely while i chilled on their comfortable couch. This place great for groups and the space is pretty big. This is a must stop if doing wine tasting in Sonoma! read more

This was our first stop in Sonoma. We walked around the plaza and decided on Rancho Maria and were not disappointed. Friendly service and delicious wines. Rancho Maria is one of the better tasting rooms along the streets that border the town square. They have a front area with seating, and as well as a patio outback where guests can enjoy a glass or two (or even a bottle). You can also buy some cheese and salami from Sonoma Cheese Factory, and bring it to snack on here. The staff was also nice and helpful in guiding us through the tastings. My favorite wine from them is the Stella. We were so impressed that we picked out a bottle to bring home as a souvenir for our Sonoma/Napa trip. I wish I had saw the 10% discount for checking in on Yelp, otherwise I would have definitely used it. I highly recommend checking out this tasting room. It is superb! read more

Really fun patio, and Daniel is super cool! It's super refreshing outside because they have lots of trees. I'm so happy that this family run establishment is run by a father and son duo! Tré poured my flight and he was congenial and knowledgeable. Their 2011 vintage Zinfandel was remarkably good. Five stars for all of that. On the other hand, the first guy I saw when I walked in was this guy sitting at a table looking at his laptop. He didn't say anything for a beat, then he looked at me as if to say, "uhhh, what do you want? Can I help you? I mean, what do you want?" (I'm guessing that if a party of four had walked in, he'd be an altogether different person in his demeanor, but maybe not). I'm assuming this was the tasting room manager because he then pointed me toward Tré, who turned my experience from an immediate negative to a positive. The manager needs to up his customer service game. Edited to add: Apparently, the guy I assumed to be the tasting room manager is named Sebastian, and he's actually the winemaker. (I know this because he has responded to some reviews here and his profile picture confirms this is the guy who didn't seem to be interested in engaging me). I didn't read all the reviews but there is one from March and one from April of this year that confirm that this guy has poor customer service skills (he, in one instance, attributes it to "having a bad day."). Sebastian, the only way you're going to get repeat customers and grow your business is if you learn how to treat your customers well. Good luck. read more

Went in for a $15 tasting with two other friends and our server Sebastian was so nice at first. After we were all done with our tastings Sebastian poured my friends two extra pours and poured me one extra when we had never asked for more so we assumed he was just being generous. When it was time to pay he charged us $90. We were supposed to only pay $45 total for all of us. We went back in to have the charge explained to us and immediately his attitude flipped and he was rude and so condescending. He would not give us an itemized receipt that showed us a clear breakdown of how we were being charged. Any other winery would have told us that we would be getting charged before pouring us more wine. They also never ID'd any of us which I thought was unprofessional. read more

Both servers were extremely rude to our party. They left during the tasting (2 had a white flight, 2 had a red flight), poured the third wine twice instead of the final wine (forth pour), and then suggested they weren't wrong when we commented on it. The left the fourth bottle on the table- implying "pour it yourself." Even after cashing out and TIPPING (which I shouldn't have done), they yelled "byeeee" in a condescending tone and gave overly obvious eye rolls. Worst customer experience ever. Would never, EVER return. read more

The sign out front "Do you rosé all day" caught my eye. Of course, I'd love to do that. So I stepped in and was greeted by a very nice person who walked me through the wines offered by Rancho Maria. The tasting I had was amazing. Every wine I tried was superb. They have an outside area too if you just want to relax with a glass of vino. read more

What an experience in the middle of downtown Sonoma. We were looking for an intimate wine tasting place where we could truly enjoy our wines without it feeling too crowded We stumbled upon this place and was surprised that it was empty but decided to take a leap of faith since the furniture decor was so inviting. It was great that we did because we absolutely loved our experience here. Sebastian was friendly, personable and knowledgeable. Once he had more customers he still never rushed us to leave. He also gave us samples of his famous Sirah wine. $15 for a 5 wine tasting, definitely must try for first and repeat Sonoma tourists! read more

Loved the wine tasting experience here from the moment walking in to walking out. Tray greeted us with the warmest and cheeriest personality. I like that even though another party came in to taste wine, Tray continued to make us feel welcomed. I know from past experiences the host will leave us when new people will walk in. Not at Rancho Maria. We did ask Tray for places he recommended around town and we took his advice and I'm glad we did because our next stop was Cochon Tasting Bar. Sorry I didn't catch the gentleman's name but he was so nice. He spoke so much about there wines. There we had the amazing almond and olive board. He also provided us with a extra board so we can cut our delicious garlic cheese from Vella. I will definitely return to these two amazing places and recommend to everyone. read more

These boys know what they are doing! Rosé all day! Right across from the fountains in Sonoma square, this little tasting room has a great energy, and a fantastic Rosé of Zin (not your mom's White Zin, but the real deal). The back patio is dope, too. I recommend this place highly. read more

Wow! Just wow! First of all, Sebastian is great, kind, and his wine is absolutely incredible. I'd give 100 points to his Petite Sirah, Rosè, and Stella (but don't think for a second that his other wines aren't delectable). He also has great colleagues: I met James and he is also so knowledgeable and kind. These guys really know great wine and great service, and the atmosphere and vibe is easy. Not to give out my secret favorite wine but the Stella '11 was by far the best wine I've ever had. These guys are going places, watch out Sonoma. read more

We're here right now with trey coles. Totally voluntary review. Cost efficient menu and pricing that is fair to the consumer. Completely honest pitch of sale. Any questions about each specific bottle , year, and questions about the vineyard were answered. We were given the full experience even though we traveled to Sonoma as tourists. I can't believe how much I learned from 1 stop here and plan to make future trips with friends and family to this destination. Trey coles helped us and I highly recommend he stays employed here, he is happy and doing what he loves, if the owner reads this, he wishes to grow with your company and deserves a rais. read more

The worst tasting room I've been to in wine country. The guys working expected us to fall over them with praise for their rosé "because it's the best in the square", but didn't like how we talked, things we asked, or where we were in the tasting room. I've never been treated so poorly in any establishment- I'd avoid this place at all costs, unless they hire new people to be face of this tasting room. The rosé wasn't awful, but I wouldn't get another glass. read more

We walked in at 5pm and asked what time they closed. We were greeted with a snarky comment by Sebastian the wine maker. "How late do you want to stay?" It was rude and we were a bit put off. Thinking that it was just an odd greeting, we decided to try it anyway. The experience didn't improve and we left. It was the attitude that gives this place one star. We won't be back. read more

Rancho Maria is a small producer of premium Dry Creek Valley Wines. The Rancho Maria Wines' tasting lounge opened in 2016. We offer a tasting experience you won't find elsewhere. I really enjoy the veggies in the dish. The broccolini was cooked the way I like and the rings of squash were tender and sweet. The hubby got the beef shoulder for his third course:5 stars. Tender and falls apart much like a pot roast. Flavorful as well. Apple tart and ice cream: 4 stars. I actually enjoyed the dish. Not too sweet. You can taste all the flavors and texture. Over all we had a great time with the wine, food was accompaniment. The museum was fun to stroll thru as well.

Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! I will always be a fan of classic winery setups, BUT... I LOVED the modernized look of Zialena! The exterior of their building alone is so eye catching and unique. And then you walk inside and think, damn this place is so chic and hip! I love the artwork, I love the stylish tables and chairs with the bright orange seat cushions, I love the youthful and fun atmosphere and vibe. It's just wonderful. Those views! I underestimated how great they'd be because you can't see much from the outside. But once you're sitting on their patio, the views seem to be endless. Countless views of the hills and their beautiful vineyards. It helped that it was a stunning day outside too. Reece set us up on their side patio which was glorious. Now about this wine; fan-freakin-tastic! I loved every single wine that I tried. All were scrumptious. I'll get more into the wines in a bit, but first I'm gonna tell you a little bit about what I learned from Reece. Although the actual tasting room is newish, the winery is a fourth generation run operation by the Mazzoni family. The family hails from Italy and they've been harvesting grapes and producing wine for years. The winery is actually named after their Great Aunt Lena (Zia Lena in Italian). Mark and Lisa (sister and brother) are the owners and they also run the winery. Zialena grows grapes for over 90 different varietals and all of them are estate grown! That's right; those vineyards that surround their property are actually their own. They use whole cluster fermentation to produce their wines which basically means that they ferment the grapes with the stems (the stems aren't removed). This allows for more of an elaborate flavor profile in their wines. They also ferment in concrete with the top open. Never really heard of open top fermentation prior to coming here, but it allows for more oxygen to come in contact which helps with faster yeast production amongst other things. Alright, let me take my geeky wine brain hat off for a second. Reece had us completely engaged during this tasting. I literally started taking notes because it was so much interesting information. But those wines, dear GEEZUS! So, so good. Their unique fermentation techniques really paid off because their wines are so rich and complex. We tasted one welcoming white wine (Sauvignon Blanc) and 4 reds which were all incredible. The Cappella Red Blend was to DIE for and undoubtedly my favorite wine of the bunch. The spices were so pronounced but yet the wine went down oh so smooth. Took a bottle of that and I don't think it even lasted a few days. Reece was so knowledgeable and confident. This man probably could have sold us the earth and we would have bought it. Seriously. So engaging and we loved it. But wow, I'm impressed. Zialena is a one of a kind.

Throughout lunch, Edd brought us different wines to taste and by the end we were most definitely sold on the Stone Soup (the red version). The olive oil tasting was so much fun. First of all the bread was so delicious. And then we tasted about 15 (?) different olive oils or vinegars. The raspberry, lemon, and garlic ones were clear favorites. My personal favorites were the garlic and sage. Even though it was a bit of a rainy & cloudy day, the views from the patio were beautiful. We finished our wine out by the fire pit outside, and now I really need to come back during the summertime when the skies are more clear for the full experience. I left with lots of olive oil and great Christmas gifts for the family. The four piece olive oil sets are perfect for that and I brought one home for my family and we did our own inspired mini taste testing (I still miss Trattore's bread tho). 10/10 recommend and yes I definitely want to come back for the summer views and this pizza oven I keep reading in all the other reviews:))

I particularly liked the chardonnay here. The olive oil is not to be missed, either. Phenomenal. The Trione family has been in the area for a LONG time. Tons of history here and definitely worth a stop if you're in the area.

We stopped in unannounced and were greeted warmly. Taylor was such a pleasure and she remembered my daughter & I from 2 years ago when she helped with our tasting. Grabbed a couple glasses of champagne and walked the grounds to kill some time before our lunch reservation. Probably my favorite winery in the area.
