Ramsey's is. Great place for good ole fashion cookin'. If you like chicken salad I high recommend it because it's a meal in itself without any additional sides. Kids meals were great according to my young ones. Today, however, the coffee was extremely bidder as if it had been sitting in the pot for an extended period of time. The humidity in the restaurant was high as if the A/C was not working properly. Normally at the location the environment is very comfortable. Overall, good meal. read more

Tried to like this. Really did. But I didn't. I have eaten at other Ramsey's and it was so-so okay. But today, we went to Zandale and both my husband and I ordered the chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes. Was so not good. Steak was tough, and gravy on mashed potatoes tasted strange and the fried green tomatoes were obviously from frozen. We tried to eat our food but nothing was good. Nothing. Every the cornbread wedge was cold and tasteless. We spoke with the manager and to their credit they were very courteous and didn't charge us and we left and went to O'Charleys. read more

I will confess I am very critical when a place claims to serve authentic local dishes. Please understand this review is not from one visit it is from my last 3 at the same location. Being a born and raised Kentuckian I am proud of our food, and THIS place just doesn't get it. We arrived at 5:00 on Saturday March 4th. Our party of 5 was seated promptly but told by the host that there was a reservation for that table at 6:30 "So we should be able to eat by then". Our drink order was taken promptly, and then the wait began. My three kids ordered cheeseburger and fries, my GF ordered the cajun catfish dinner, and I ordered the meatloaf (recommended by the server).... We waited at least 40 minutes, in which our server never once stopped to check on us to see if we needed additional drinks or anything. The dinners finally arrived, all looked very good however this is where the wheels began to come off. * The kids dinners were nothing to write home about, in fact my 8 year old some complained that McDonald's actually had better burgers. * The GF's catfish looked amazing and actually was very very good, the hush puppies look great, but we bit into one and it had no seasoning, and no flavor. Very done on the outside but doughy in the middle. The rest of her sides were just ok. * My meatloaf arrived and it was cooked with no sauce on it, come on people this is KY we cook meatloaf with sauce on it! It was bland and relatively dry. My sides were crinkle cut fries (pretty good) pinto beans that had no seasoning at all, just bland, and kale greens that were not cut at all, HUGE pieces and had no flavor, if they put pork or ham in there I could not tell. * Once we made it through our dinner, we sat and sat and sat to order my GF's pie (it was her birthday) and finally we had to get the host to find our server. When she came back over we ordered our pie to go. When walking out the door the party that had a reservation was waiting on the table that is right it took us over an hour and a half to eat a dinner that had no appetizers and a desert to go. This place has been a staple of Lexington for years, and it is sad to say you can get a better dinner with MUCH better service at one of the chain restaurants. read more

WOW is their buffalo chicken sauce good. 10/10 recommend their fried buffalo chicken breast/chicken sandwich. Most meals are around $11, but for $14 you can get almost double the food. For my stomach that means 2 meals = cost effective. Aside from that I find it a bit pricy, it does not have the cutest environment, I didn't care for their cornbread- although it's in the shape of corn on the cob and that's adorable. They have jalapeño water, which is good on things like fish and kale greens. The sides I think are a hit or miss. I recommend the mashed potatoes, corn on the cob, and kale greens. The creamed corn was definitely disappointing. Solid choice for lunch though! And if you are anything like me, definitely satisfy your buffalo sauce cravings here. If you want to make a reservation it has to be 2 hours in advance and while the restaurant is large, I'd recommend it. It's a good place for groups as well. read more

We went to Ramsey's on Helmsdale in Lexington, Ky. The service was horrible. The blonde waitress we had went to other tables seated after us at least 3 times to our one. Another waitress finally refreshed our drinks. The restaurant was only about three quarters full, so it wasn't super busy. After over an hour, we got up to leave, THEN a third waitress brought our food out. it was warm but not hot. Food was good but most definitely not worth waiting with two hungry kids for over an hour. Got an apology from the Manager but the waitress gave us a half hearted one. If you chance going, DO NO, I repeat DO NOT sit at the blonde waitress, about 5'5, 135 pounds table. She horrible and rude. Was one of the worst dining experiences I ever had and I've been around the block a few times and traveled all over the US and abroad. The management needs to screen the help a whole lot better. read more

Ramseys Diner offers the best traditional southern dishes. Food is served fresh and prompt. The bar always has a welcoming feel about it, and all the staff is friendly. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who visits Lexington, given that it is very much a staple of the city with its four locations. read more

This place is the quintessential kick ass place of better come hungry because the portions are ridiculous. Finally DO NOT leave that establishment without a piece of pie. The catfish was amazing. I am not a fish person, but my husband insisted I try the catfish. It was excellent. The corn fritters or hushpuppies were great too. We also got a huge baked potato. This was my first time going and my boyfriend hadn't been to a Ramsey's in over ten years. When we arrived, we had to wait about ten minutes to get seated. A manager had to seat us even though there were about five or six waitresses milling about. Now, we did go on a Friday night around 8:30pm, but the restaurant was only half full. At other places, we would've been seated immediately. Once seated, we found an old check at our table. It turns out that the waitress/bus boy didn't take the check with them from cleaning up from the previous people sitting there and left it. We ordered drinks and when we flagged down the lady that got our drink orders to remove it, it made us feel uncomfortable, she said, and I quote, "It's not mine, so I can't take it," and preceded to leave it there. It stayed on the table for at least five minutes, until we got another waitress to get our food order, who FINALLY removed it. We ordered food and waited about fifteen minutes for it. The wait wasn't too too bad, but I've seen quicker at other restaurants, but I didn't pass judgement, since this was my first time. When we got our food, they put the food down in front of us and then that waitress walked off, without giving us ANY silverware. Another waitress had to get us silverware. My boyfriend's Hot Brown sandwich was good, my food was pretty meh. The macaroni and cheese tasted straight out of a box with no seasoning, the mashed potatoes were completely bland. The apple fritters, however, tasted very good and the gravy on the mashed potatoes half saved them. My BBQ chicken was fairly bland and the sauce they used tasted exactly like A-1 sauce, but it could just be the sauces were similar. Then, we put our drinks near the edge of the table, to hopefully get a waitress over to help us and one immediately picked up my boyfriend's glass and started to fill it. When he asked what was in it, she said Sweet Tea. He had ordered Root Beer. She didn't even ask what was in his cup, just assumed it was sweet tea and filled it up. She apologized and then got my refill BEFORE his, which I thought was weird. At this point, we were fairly annoyed with the service and went to talk to a manager. We told him everything that I've written. He told us that, "It is busy tonight but I guess that's not an excuse for bad service." He guesses? After we complained about the bad service, and bland food, he focused more on the food issues instead of the obvious bad service we were telling him about and got free drinks and desserts. It was something, but for our headache we thought more would be taken off. I didn't pass judgement until the food stuff happened. Because of all these issues, I will NEVER go back to this place while my boyfriend is willing to try another location. The only thing good about the experience were the pies, and I will definitely be going back to Missy's pies for another slice. read more

This place is a great place to get wonderful comfort food and service. I was in Lexington on a business trip, and a friend recommended this restaurant. I was not disappointed! Coming from an Appalachian family, it was so great to find traditional country fixings that tasted authentic and came at a great price. The wait staff was also great! I think the waitress felt bad for me since I was by myself. She sat and talked with me for a bit and comped my piece of pie. I'll definitely be back if I'm ever in Lexington again. read more

I went to their old location last year during a trip to the Red River Gorge and had to order a hot brown. omg, so ridiculous and rich. I think I just ordered the wrong things. Everyone else in my group LOVED their food. Mine was just very bland. Had the Yogurt Chicken Sandwich; which sounded like a somewhat tasty, yet more healthy option on the menu. All the ingredients were fresh, however, it had zero flavor. The Mac & Cheese was average. For dessert, I had the Butterscotch Pie - what a waste of money that was! Again, no flavor - just lots of sugar. Had everyone in my group try it, everyone agreed, no flavor. But like I said, everyone else's meals looked and smelled fabulous, I just think I ordered the wrong items. Would definitely try Ramsey's again due to the friendly service and comments from the others in the group. read more

Don't you hate it when you find out the hard way who has low standards in dining? Yikes. The only reason I gave two stars is because the service was prompt and pleasant. The food was not good. My burger was overcooked and the Mac n cheese was the worst I've ever had. I took a bite, added salt, took another bite, and gave up. It tasted like nothing. I'm gonna go eat something else now. Ramsey's is a must try if you're in the area. I was visiting Kentucky for the first time and wanted to try the famous Hot Brown. What a delight! This is a casual restaurant with a local feel - one I'd be happy to spend long hours in chatting with friends drinking beer and eating comfort food. That's right, this place is no health food establishment but if you're in the mood for fried, cheesy, deliciousness - you won't be disappointed. Oh and leave room for pie - they have a long list of homemade pies - there's a flavor for everyone! Ask for Ray for your server - she's sassy, fun and a damned good waitress. We ordered from Ramsey's recently through Door Dash. I really wanted a home style dinner so I ordered the country fried steak and mashed potatoes. Big mistake. First of all the mashed potatoes tasted as if they were from KFC; probably instant, and very pasty even with gravy. But they were marvelous compared to the CFS. There were three large patties of fried meat, and there was corn in the batter. And absolutely NO TASTE even after adding salt and pepper. I choked down almost one patty with help of a tasteless white gravy. The other two went to the garbage. So disappointed. read more

What a great experience! My first time in KY and I've heard legendary take about 'hot browns'. After looking around on yelp, I was directed to this location. You won't be disappointed!
