Of all the restaurants in Michigan, it is safe to say Rams Horn is one of the ones I miss the least. It's not bad by any means, it is just the most predictable. Some people like, or even love predictable. I do not. Same menu for years and years. Nothing new or exciting. People here are the kindest you'll meet, wonderful staff and service! Giant parking lot. Short wait times. In a pinch, I'd go if starving. But very heavy menu items, nothing light. It just feels dated, the menu and the decor inside. If looking for reliable service and you are a creature of habit and love the same thing every time, all the time.... this might just be your place! It's just not the place for me. read more

Very impressed with my experience here on a Sunday evening in early November. Everything was clean; booth was comfortable; service was great; prices reasonable. One of the best Reubens I've ever had - lean corned beef, and rye grilled to perfection. Good onion rings too. It had been way too long since I dined here. My husband and I have been going to Ram's Horn in Farmington for about 45 years. It's the best restaurant and has remained consistent in all those years. It's clean and the staff is prompt, friendly, and professional. The food is exceptional and the pricing competitive. You can get breakfast any time of day, but I think you pay a bit more for it if you order it after 12 noon. That's okay with me because there are very few restaurants around where you can get breakfast all day long. I recently stopped in at Ram's Horn while running errands because I was starving and wanted a home-cooked meal. I ordered the hot roast beef sandwich with gravy and mashed potatoes with a side of green beans. Practically before I could pull my phone out, the meal had arrived--it was that fast. My husband and I always stop at the Rams Horn in Farmington MI in our travels through the years. Stopped in on Jan 25 2024 in the evening. Met up with a couple friends that live in the area. The reason I gave 5 stars as always the food was good, the service was outstanding. Very accommodating. My husband went up to the counter to pay the bill by credit card. The cashier took the bill and said, " are you not tipping your server? He told her " I left it on the table" which he did a generous tip. For her to ask ANY customer that question is absolutely uncalled for. We always tip no matter what kind of food and or service that was handed to us. The tip will reflect that. Not so blue. I was pleasantly surprised when I visited. The Ram's Horn is an old stand-by in the metro Detroit area. It's open pretty late. We've had a late night coffee or two. But on this latest visit my date ordered the Greek Salad and I ordered the Cobb Salad. Can I say? It was quite yummy. The waitress was friendly and the food was timely. This place offers great comfort food but nothing spectacular. And spectacular isn't expected, only tasty and filling. But I learned something else it should be, because this is the first time I ever ordered a steak at a restaurant like this. :( Apparently I'm the only one that doesn't know to never do that. The flavor was quite good, but that was certainly not the issue. This steak was so tough it would survive a gang war in Los Angeles. It could probably sub in for a New England Patriots defensive lineman. I found that out because each bite took four minutes to chew. So my girlfriend suggested I have it taken back, which is something I have done only two or three times in my life. And I'm frickin old. What a wise move! I'll to sing her praises the rest of my life for that advice. (Well, for the next half hour anyway.) The battered cod was awesome, even w packaged tartar sauce. And it only took microseconds to cut each piece. Fancy that! A food that didn't run marathons and lift weights to toughen its muscles before harvesting! "Oh, the sinew! Oh, the humanity!" This is our go to spot for comfort food. Waitresses are quick and efficient old school waitresses. Food is quick hot and tasty. Love the hash browns, fried chicken, turkey burger with jack cheese, and the turkey and stuffing dinner. It always smells like delicious coffee when we walk in and they keep our cup filled. The only bad part is the extremely old clientele. We joke about how many air tanks we will see. It can be depressing, but I guess we will all be old someday! The reliable food makes up for it. Service was friendly and attentive, coffee was decent, the food was good, and the restaurant was nice and clean. I ordered the eggs with country biscuits and sausage gravy. It was yummy. I ordered the eggs over easy, and they were done to perfection, perched atop the grilled biscuits with a generous portion of sausage gravy on the side. I smothered the eggs and biscuits and dug in. We just had the worst food we have ever had from a restaurant! My husband ordered one of their big breakfasts, his hash browns were burnt on one side and raw on the other! He was missing all of the breakfast meat. His biscuits were hard and cold. I ordered the hot turkey and they sent me roast beef. It was chewy and tough, inedible!! All-American classic. This is easily my father-in-law's all-time favorite eatery! It's a classic All-American type of sit-down restaurant- no surprises, no bells or whistles, etc. It's just good, simple food designed to fill your belly and leave you satisfied. The interior is nothing to look at. In fact, it's in need of an update. Even the sign outside looks a little timeworn by now. I think it's time to make a couple aesthetic improvements. As a family restaurant, they have an extensive menu filled with great sandwiches, soups, breakfast selections, etc. Among the best- omelets, waffles, veggie pita wraps, fish and chips, mac and cheese, tuna salad sandwiches. Oh, and they serve breakfast all day long. All day breakfast- who says no to that? Not me. Sometimes you just want an omelet at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. This place must be good. It's always crowded whenever we've eaten here, regardless of the day or time. Rarely have we not needed to wait for a table to open up. It's pretty popular with the locals. The prices are cheap and the atmosphere is friendly. Anyone who likes good food at budget-friendly prices should like Ram's Horn. You can't really go wrong here. read more

We were at this location on Saturday evening, August 11th. We come here often on Saturdays. However, the restaurant was much, much busier than usual; there was only one available table when we got there. It was obvious to us that all the staff was really hustling this night and working extra hard. Kudos to them! Lucky for us that we got seated in Brenda's section. As busy as everyone was, she still took her time and gave us awesome service. She was grace under pressure. She's an excellent server and we'll ask to be seated in her section again. I love their Marty Salad. It's not the menu; just ask. Our other favorite is the stuffed pepper soup, available on Saturday and Sunday only. Delicious. I came here for breakfast on a Thursday morning and it was really crowded. The staff helped us a find a spot quick. I got one of the breakfast specials with pancakes, eggs, bacon and toast. The bacon was nice and crisp, the eggs was fluffy with the right amount of seasonings, and the pancakes were made to perfection. The chicken noodle soup was pretty good per Matt K's review but I wish they used freshly pulled chicken instead of what tasted like canned. So, I ordered a strawberry malt, as I have every time I've dined at Rams Horn for the past 30 years. As everyone knows, they always bring it out in a glass and the rest they bring out in the tin cup they mixed it in. This time the server only brought out a glass of malt. After she brought me a half of a malt she went back to the back and I heard her say to her co-workers "do you guys want a strawberry malt?" I turned around and saw the waitstaff split the other half amongst themselves into styrofoam cups. When she brought out my food, I asked the waitress (Jessie O. according to the receipt) where the other half of my malt was. She told me they never bring out the tin cup. We went back and forth then she said she'd send the manager over. The manager came over and I asked him about the other half of my malt. I told him that I saw his staff split it up and drink it, he said sometimes there is a little left over and the staff is allowed to have it. I told him I saw the staff put the other half into two styrofoam cups and there was WAY more than "just a little" left over. I asked him if it's Rams Horn policy that every time a customer orders a shake, the staff get a shake too? We argued more, then I told him to take it off of my bill because I'm not paying $4 for a half serving. He said "okay fine" and walked away angrily. Then our server immediately dropped off our bill and never came back to check on us or refill our waters. She refused to even make eye contact with us the rest of the time we were there. As we were cashing out, the cashier didn't say a word to us, nor make eye contact, she just ran our card. I said "aren't you supposed to ask how everything was?" after at first pretending she didn't hear me, she sarcastically said "how was everything, sir?" I then left "$0" tip and left that place. Do yourself a favor and order the Cinnamon Caramel French Toast. So. Freakin. Good. Im pretty sure we were the youngest people there by 50 years, but the food and service were great! Reasonable prices and pretty generous portions. My husband usually complains at every place he orders a burger as he likes them medium and most places dont even try, but he was surprised and ecstatic with his perfectly medium burger. I hadn't been to the Ram's Horn in nearly 20 years. When my soon to be wife told me that this was where she wanted to go on our first date, I was like, oh, really?? We met for lunch on a cool March afternoon. It was exactly as I remembered, blue haired ladies and their gentleman suitors gathered for their afternoon delight. I sat in awe at the gorgeous woman across the table from me. She glowed from head to toe and was so excited to be dining at your fine establishment. She ordered her go to meal, a veggie omelette, NO MUSHROOMS!! And I had a delicious corned beef Reuben. We chatted while we ate and soaked in each other's company. I knew from this very moment that she was the ONE. I cannot remember our server or how long we sat across from one another. But I will say this Ram's Horn, you will always hold a special place in my heart, just like the beautiful woman that convinced me to eat at your casual eatery once more. Bravo. Ram's Horn on Grand River has the best Vegetable Beef soup I have tasted, besides my own of course. I have found all their ingrediants to be very fresh. I have yet to get a salad with brown spots or wilted. The coffee tastes fresh always, and the service for the most part is wonderful. It's my old standby I eat there about once a week. So if you are looking for comfort food, fresh ingrediants, and good service, go to Ram's Horn. read more
