The food was great. I would say 9/10. The fries were too salty, but the chicken wings were yummy. I really enjoyed their tangy sauce. I was really craving a burger so I was disappointed they didn't have any. It's a very masculine decorated place so not so cute for dates but good for some gluten free food and beer. This place is a real local gem in downtown Farmington. Really good beers and food and some of the best service you will find anywhere. Gets a bit loud when it's busy, but I kind of expect that from a place like this. Some of the beers they make seem kind of gimmicky, but I understand that not everyone is an enlightened hop head like myself (lol) and they have to tone down their brewing expertise to cater to the "masses". This is a mixed bag review, the good things were great, but there were some not great things. Located in downtown Farmington, large free lot behind the building. The building itself looks great, nicely renovated, large windows opening to the street, great bathrooms, comfortable chairs. Clean and bright. It is very loud inside. The staff is friendly and helpful, but both the bartender and the food runner are slow. The food was great, and good portions for the money. They only had 5 beers currently on tap, so I had a flight of four. One was good, one was pretty good, one was not good, and one was terrible. I asked the staff about the terrible one, the American Standard, and he said they were trying to re-work the beer into a lager recipe. But they have a brewery with one good beer product to sell. Edit to add: I did not edit my review before the owner's post, but I am adding this part now. He had 3 shandys, one sour, and four normal beers on. I sampled the four normal beers and only one, the 1824 IPA, was good. I did note the staff was nice, and to be blunt I don't really care much, as a consumer, that they were understaffed-- Service was slow. He also messaged me, prior to his response, to ask which beers I had, and to tell me about how terrible the recent closure of Ascension Brewing was. The beer selection was limited as a few were out. But the beer (forgot the name) that has a citrus taste was amazing. The bartender let us sample a couple of the beers before we selected our options. Firstly the menus are QR codes and when brought to the site its hard to see what you're getting. Waiter never brought waters had to get our own from a dispenser in the restaurant. Waiter also claimed the portions were larger than they were. Payed $8 for extra brisket and was a normal amount. We also ordered fries and the waiters never brought it, AND STILL TRIED TO CHARGE US. After we asked to see the bill we told them to take it off and they did. But worst of all, The restaurant has this crazy set up and this may have been the worst brisket I've ever had. Brisket had no crisp, No smokey flavor AND ZERO SEASONING. Not even Salt or Pepper. I beg you for the sake of your wallet do not waste your time. Last night was my first visit to Height Brewing and I'm glad to say that my experience was absolutely amazing. I was nervous that we wouldn't find a seat, but there were plenty of available stools at the bar. My husband and I sat near the kitchen door and the smells that came wafting through made my mouth water!! The bartender greeted us immediately and gave us a rundown of the available beers and where to locate the food menu. We had a hard time choosing just one beer, so we chose to order several "tasters". Our choices included Dragons Fire, Unshandy, Traditional Dry Cider, Pear Cider, and Blueberry Cider. Disclaimer: I am no beer expert, my usual go to is Bud Light or Leinenkugels Summer Shandy I was most excited to try the ciders, but fell in love with the Dragons Fire. It was slightly heavier than a light beer, and great for sitting and sipping or to accompany some snacks. The ciders were all delicious but the blueberry was the hands down favorite. It was very light and flavorful without being sweet and went down super smooth. The only food we tried were the salt and pepper fries, but the brisket is on my list for the next visit, as well as the nachos. OK, so I love mushrooms but I wasn't sure about getting mushrooms on a taco, but the way they do it and the fact that the mushrooms are smoked and whatever sauce they're using, makes them an excellent choice for a taco. They're right up there with the brisket tacos. My friend got the pork belly barbecue bowl and loved it. Been wanting to check this place out and finally made it last night. I love that there is an easily accessible and free parking lot behind! Sat at the bar, and was relieved the seats were comfortable because a lot of places these days have terrible hard seats. Service was slow at first but very friendly and helpful. I tried two samples, then my bf's beer. The PB porter was OK but I switched beers for one of the Honey ales because I found the porter too bitter for my liking. The beers I was really interested in trying were not on tap at the time, bummer. The food was actually impressive seeing as how I am not a big BBQ person. My bf had sliders, and I had the nachos with pulled pork. The portions are HUGE for the price which is great. I was a bit taken aback by how much food we got. Good fries, too. We both liked our food and loved the hot bbq sauce. Looking forward to coming back when they have some different taps. read more

This was our second time visiting. Our first experience was on a weekday and the place was pretty empty. The bartender was serving our table but was very slow to check on us. We sat with empty glasses and had to go up to the bar eventually to ask for our bill. We visited again just to get a to go drink and give it another chance. The place was pretty busy, but the bar was not full. We walked up to the end of the bar and waited. No acknowledgment from the bartender. Another customer comes in and she immediately went up to acknowledge them. So, I moved over to that area of the bar in attempt to order. She finally acknowledged me and seemed very irritated. I'm not sure why we stayed at this point, but we should have just left. We did finally get drinks to go. Unfortunately my husband's beer was not good. He ended up not drinking the majority of it. Which is VERY unlike him. We love to support our local breweries and make a point to go to them. Sadly this one has been at best a mediocre experience twice now. read more

My husband and I have lived in Farmington for years and finally had the opportunity to try this establishment for the first time last night. Let me tell you...it was our first and last time all in one visit. Visit started out with the bartender (who should not be a bartender) coming over and asking for our drink order. My husband ordered a beer and I got a water (no ice available so it was warm) as I am not a beer person and they had no diet pop options which was disappointing. Twenty minutes later my husband had to flag the bartender down to have him come back to take our order and he completely forgot my husband even ordered a drink....you are a bartender...how do you forget? We placed our order and probably 30 minutes go by. No-one ever checks in and then our bartender comes over finally and asks if we need anything else. We both looked at him and said...seriously? Are you joking? We still haven't gotten our food. Again...he seemed to have forgotten that we even ordered food! He runs back to the kitchen and somehow his tablet didn't send our order to the kitchen so they didn't have it. But yet all other orders were coming out fine? They gave us the option to cancel our order since it would take 15-20 minutes but we figured by the time we went somewhere else (plus we had kids at home), we would stick it out as much as we wanted to leave. He did offer a free round which my husband did take them up on and they said they would discount our food (which ended up being 10% which is insulting based on the situation). The food did finally come out and it was extremely subpar. Macaroni was not overly creamy, the brisket was dry and flavorless and my husband's brisket fries were soggy. Disappointed completely. Beer my husband said was mediocre at best. Along with all this, the staff had food up on the counter and were eating/drinking beer in front of customers while also waiting on customers. No hand washing in between eating and running things to customers. Health violation for sure....plus not great for the customer experience. Additionally, we never had an owner come over and talk through what happened. One lady (assuming management) did a quick apology but it was two sentences and didn't hit the customer service bucket at all. But...seeing as the bartender NEVER came back to check on us once food was delivered until it was time for the bill, doesn't surprise me as customer service does not seem to be a thing here. We were also blown away in that there was a gentleman who had a customer ask for the Tigers Game to be put on. He flat out said no and came and rudely joked about it with another set of customers that it is the Tigers 177th game and they were losing and he wasn't going to do it. With as many TV's as you have, would it really hurt (even though you advertised the State Game for the night) to turn one TV to the Tigers Game? The restaurant wasn't even full at this time so it wasn't like everyone was there for the football game. Again...don't you want to meet the needs of your customers? Customer service is key in the restaurant industry. This was honestly the worst dining experience we ever encountered and will not be returning. Additionally, our family and friends use us for restaurant reviews since we dine out all the time but this is one place that we will tell them to avoid as there are a million other establishments that we would go to prior to coming here EVER again. read more

After a long wait, Heights Brewing was finally able to conduct their soft openings for a grand opening slated for 2/10/24! As a mug club member, I was able to check out the food and drinks today and was not disappointed. Their menu is still in development it seems, but the flavor of the food was great! I do wish the nachos had a bit more to offer as far as veggies, but the queso was amazing! The sandwich was small, but the pulled pork flavoring was great, and the fries were fresh and hot. My husband tried the peanut butter porter, which I was very pleasantly surprised with, as someone who typically wouldn't go for a porter. The flavor was smooth, and the peanut butter taste wasn't overpowering, but super tasty! I ordered the American and it was nice, light, and smooth. As a parent I have to note-there is no changing station in the bathrooms which is always a bummer, but overall the ambiance is great! This place for sure will be a regular for us! read more

The owner was nice w/ good info on the beer and story of how he started making beer in his buddies garage to becoming a brick and mortar. You can access beer menu by cell phone qr code if u dont have 1 its on the tvs. Beers and wings were ok no cocktail napkins or even a side plate given when me and my friend split a lb of wings. But the thing that got me the most was we asked to buy a glass preferably not used from the bar w/ the logo for our bar and were given a used dirty glass right off the bar. If i buy a glass I would prefer it to not have lipstick on it still and be cleaned and not used EVER!! Good luck w/ your $250 for a lifetime membership for a place that will be gone in a year. Service is great. Super quick even when they were very busy. I didn't get beer (got root beer which was tasty but not quite sweet enough IMO) but my other friends did. They said it was pretty good. They liked that you could mix the seltzers together. The food is just not good. The bbq is smoky but so dry. The Cole slaw is too dry as well. They do not carry ranch, but served a Carolina sauce (is it supposed to be served hot? Ew) which would have been pretty good if it wasn't served hot. read more

As someone who is supposed to stay gluten free, I've been excited to try this place since I saw it announced. I finally found the time to visit with my mom. I got the brisket sliders. The brisket itself was delicious. Unfortunately, they were out of baked beans at the time which didn't really leave a lot of options for sides. The sliders already had coleslaw on them. And the other sides were all also carb-heavy - fries, cornbread. The sliders buns are already pretty large, so I wasn't really wanting carbs with a side of carbs, plus beer. But that was my only option. I got the cornbread, and it was pretty delicious. But 2 muffins plus the huge sliders, I couldn't finish. I think more non-carb sides would be really helpful here to help balance things. Mom got the bowl with pulled pork and loved it. We both got the honey beer as it was the only gf beer on tap at the time for me. Mom loved it. Wanted to get some to take home, but didn't want to fuss with a growler. For me, the beer was fine. I'd have liked a few others to try, but ah well. Their beers are decently strong, which I'll keep an eye on. I like beers on the easier side so I can have a few without worry. Our server was fine, though had some issues delivering the right amount of cutlery/napkins for 2 people. 3 forks and 1 napkin. Just small things that can definitely be improved on. I know they're still new and learning. I'll be back. The brisket, and the fact I could eat anything on the menu, will keep me coming back for sure. Heights is a good place, but could be better with a bit of tweaking. The barbecue rub uses too much of a particularly spicy black pepper, so that is the overwhelming flavor component of the meat. The sauces are very good, but not the main event nor should they be. I tried the ribs - they were very meaty, though a bit dry. We came in later in the day, so they might have been in a warming oven for too long. Flavor was very good except for the too-generous addition of black pepper. The homemade cole slaw was very crisp and fresh - it paired well with the ribs. The baked beans we ordered as a side were just okay. The beer was the highlight. The Belgian saison-style beer was my favorite and a great complement to the smoke barbecue. The brewmaster is clearly very talented. I will probably try Heights Brewing a second time during peak hours to sample other barbecue selections. Brisket and pulled pork are favorites of mine, and both sounded good on tacos and nachos. read more

This brewery is one of a kind. 100% Gluten free food menu and gluten free BEER?! I am not gluten free but one of my favorite beers here is the Gf Honey Golden Ale. They also brew a non-GF spiced beer with Saffron called the Happy Sandman that is one of the most unique beers I've ever tried and a favorite for many regular customers. Brisket Mac and cheese, mushroom tacos, pulled pork nachos, and the coleslaw are *chefs kiss*. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly and the building is always clean and inviting. You can tell the owners have really put their heart and soul into this brewery. read more

We were excited to try this place out when it finally opened this weekend. Service could have been better but the restaurant did just open, so they're likely working things out. We each had the sliders, French fries, and cornbread. The brisket and pulled pork both had great flavor, but the bun was overpowering. The sandwiches were very light on the meats and the slider buns were quite thick. I do not eat gluten free, but the gf buns were a perfectly fine substitute for a regular bun. The French fries were very good and served in abundance. The cornbread was good, but nothing to write home about. Overall we had a good experience, but a couple improvements could be made. Mainly an increase of meat on the sandwiches, and I would like to see more sauce options other than just the one choice. Hopefully as the restaurant is open longer the menu will develop a bit.
