Saturday's visit was disappointing. Slow service, especially to get our drinks (I guess the bartender was MIA?) My Southwest Taco Salad was huge but the chicken on it was bland as can be which made it inedible for me. I did appreciate the black beans, corn and pico. Shredded lettuce was a nice touch. My boyfriend got the chicken wings with bangin' sauce and was not impressed. He was told it was like a creamy buffalo sauce but in reality it had zero flavor. I'm a wimp and even I thought it had zero heat. The chicken tortilla soup was tasty. We'll be back next time we're in the area. We'll just stick to pizza instead. read more

We had a great first visit to CJ's! Super cozy, lively bar & grill. We ordered the cheese bread and bbq chicken pizza. Both were great, but the cheese bread was a favorite! Our server was great. Would recommend!! read more

Great local brewery with no frills ambiance and attentive service. Takes a bit of wait on the food but they have ton of tv's everywhere to keep you busy while you wait. Been a fan of their red beer and tried their fall lager both great. Wings are done perfect, nachos are huge good to share, pizza is a bit greasy for me. read more

Busy Saturday afternoon lunch. Seated promptly, friendly staff, reasonably quick service. 4 in a booth that was pretty tight. Pizza was very good, short rib grilled cheese was excellent. Drinks mostly centered around Gypsy products, first time I'd had them- very nice. Bloody Mary could have been spicier, but overall good. Dessert we had the butter cake and the stout cake.. both good. Stout cake has icing not ice cream. read more

I am going to give this place a 3.5. In the past, we tried it and I was not impressed. We did not return until recently with a family member who wanted to eat close to his home. This time, I was left with a much better impression. I started with the summer beer. It was pretty good and refreshing, like a Blue Moon. The porter, or stout my husband tried was not bad, but it stated it had coffee and chocolate notes, which I did not taste. Still, I would return for a pint. I had the Big Jim, obviously reminiscent of the Big Boy Slim Jim. That was one of my favorite childhood sandwiches, and I feel they did it justice. I enjoyed it, and it was a nice portion. It was well made and tasted similar to Big Boy, very nostalgic. I got the truffle parm fries. They had a nice crispiness and a good flavor. It was a good portion. I also got a side salad, nothing fancy, but hit the spot. The ranch was very good. As far as the other food. The mac and cheese was finished by my child, which is great, but it was such small portion for the price, most places give you twice as much. The sliders looked good, but were so tiny. The sweet potato fries were nice, they went well with the ranch. I think our family member was disappointed with the wrap sandwich. I did not try it, so I am not sure, but it looked like it could have been filled with more. I took the Big Jim home since I had a lot to share with my other child who also really liked it. With such a simple sandwich you do not really get many places making it that way, so I would probably return for that again. I am a fan of the Jims! read more

I grew up around Detroit but I reside in Jacksonville Florida now. My wife and I flew up to the Detroit area for a concert along with a few days with friends and family. We had a great meal with great service elsewhere, then went on to CJs so we could play Golden Tee as a group, have some drinks and continue enjoying the night. From the moment we arrived, our server made it clear that we were a bother to her. I have not one clue what we did wrong. As far as I'm aware, we were all very polite through the whole evening. During our first interaction, we let her know that we'd eaten elsewhere and that we were there for the game & drinks but we might want food eventually. Not long after that, she came to snap up our menus and said "looks like you're not gonna need these!". My thought was "if we were before, we sure don't now", but we continued enjoying our night anyway. I cannot stress enough that we were not bothering anyone else in their brewery. We were all very confined to the one table by the Golden Tee machine. Yet every time any of us asked for drinks the server acted like it was a big inconvenience. Such odd behavior. Her and the rest of the staff weren't done yet though. As far as we're aware, they close at 11pm. Around 10:30pm, the staff started slamming chairs and tables around, loudly. It was such childish behavior. What were they trying to prove? That they're upset polite people were keeping to theirselves in the corner for a few hours while also giving them money? As I said before, we reside in Jacksonville Florida but as a Detroit native I am bothered that we wasted any money in this place. I cannot imagine why the servers were so upset at us for wanting to enjoy their establishment but I assure you that we will never make that mistake again. read more

Always a great experience! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the service is consistently excellent. The food and drinks are delicious, with a great variety to choose from. Nothing terrible to say but also nothing great to say, just so-so. The food & service not too bad but the noise level pretty high (busy bar scene). Not what I want for a dinner venue, I prefer a softer ambience for dinnertime ( I also don't drink alcohol). Probably won't go back. read more

In town for a few days and hungry for pizza & beer. Searched pizza brewery and CJ's came up. Menu looked great so we gave it a shot. Wow were we impressed! We each ordered square pizza and they were SO good. The crust reminded us all of the delicious personal pan Pizzas from late 70's Pizza Hut!! Crusty, chewy and served piping hot!! Prices were reasonable and a small easily served two! Service was really quick in spite of it being a very busy place. Wish we had time to go back! read more

fun hangout type bar with good food. We came here for a drink and some dinner. Bar area was packed for trivia night so we got seated at booth which was not busy area. The service was on the slow side took and good 15 min for drinks and 30 for food. Ruben was good but could've used more kraut and sauce. Fries, chips and pizza were all excellent. Overall I would be back....fun place lots of drink choices read more

I was very pleased with this place. The food was pretty good. I really like the sliders a lot. The prices were reasonable. It's got a cool atmosphere and I think it'd be great in the summertime. Just ordered food around 9:20, almost 2 hours before closing. Completely rushed my order made me a burger well done with no flavor could barely eat it. Had my girlfriend ordered a steak medium rare, it was made tough again with no flavor or seasoning what so ever. Also when I was ordering like baked potato or certain things, they wouldnt say sides would be additional toppings. Even for the burger every single piece was charged as a side. My bill ran up to 120$. I was shocked but then I still thought maybe the food would be good completely disgusting. Who would want to eat a burger or a steak with no flavoring. At first I thought ok maybe they just messed up the burger but a 40$ steak as well? This place is a joke, do not order carry out and I wouldn't suggest eating there unless you're ready for your waitress to remake it. Next time explain what you're charging and that sides is additional pay and definitely add flavor to the food. I'm very disappointed drove30 mins and paid 120$ for this. Never coming back!!! read more

Great beer and delicious food. Burgers and pizza are excellent and everything else I've order is also good: salads, fajitas, wraps, etc.

I have been a customer here for several years until I discovered that the restaurant was overcharging for menu items during an extremely busy weekend. When I brought it to the manager's attention I was told it was no big deal and it was a system error, not her fault. It escalated into an argument after which I was asked to leave. I sent a message to the owner who agreed with the staff. My advice is to check your bill before you leave! read more

Big place and huge parking lot. Service was prompt and friendly. Yelp has a free app and even though they didn't know about it anymore they honored it. Beer was good- no tag a brew though. Had the captain crunch chicken and it was tasty. It can with a healthy portion of rice and broccoli. My companion had the Hawaiian pizza with picked jalepeno. Not a destination place and definitely if you're in the area place. read more

CJs is on our list of places to eat when we don't have a specific place in mind. Good food, friendly service, and accommodates different size groups. The food is good, and they have their own spin on most of the dishes. My normal meal is a CJs brewed IPA beer, a bowl of soup and a burger I split with my wife. The beer is good. The soup is good. And the burger is good. They offer three or four options for fries. We have also had their pizza, which is nice if we have a larger group with kids. They have a bar area, which we don't normally sit at. CJs runs daily specials / events like a trivia night. read more

Their beer may be great, but the carryout service absolutely sucks. I ordered a dozen times from them about 3 years ago...they got every single order wrong, so we stopped going. This week, the place down the street (where I switched to) went out of business, so I thought, "I wonder if CJ's has improved at all," and tried a simple carryout order from them again (a burger with lettuce and extra mustard). Same old same old. If you are looking for carryout...I'd recommend going ANYWHERE else. PS never mind the excuses from the manager which are certain to follow. You have ONE JOB and you screwed it up. As if $17 for a hamburger wasn't bad enough! read more

My kids and I were on the area so we decided to stop in for lunch. The host was cheerful and inviting (it was her birthday), the ambience was typical for the kind of establishment, the patio looked amazing but we couldn't chance the bees. A friend and I had decided to meet up at a restaurant up the road but a misplaced reservation had us scrambling for outdoor seating. Actually, she did the scrambling because I was unfamiliar with the area. However, sometimes life works out. She and her husband have visited this restaurant previously and enjoyed meals here. Given the lunch hour, I thought the patio would be filled but we were one of the first ones here and she picked out the best spot: shaded and in a corner, away from the other guests. We shared a menu because the restaurant did not want to clean more than one but since I can read upside-down, I quickly narrowed down my choices between the build-your-own burger and the short rib grilled cheese. Both sounded fantastic. My friend did make the choice more difficult when she informed me that the pizzas were great here. The grilled cheese, with the thick-cut bread, won out, in the end. Who can resist that, especially with short rib? It was delicious, especially with the added pico de gallo. However, I did remove some of the jalapeno disks - there were just a bit too much for my tastes. The sandwich comes with fries but I selected the tempura-battered onion rings, available for an up-charge. Yum. Luckily, my friend got fries with her Reuben and shared them. They were as delicious as both my friend and the server attested to. The patio quickly filled up for the late-lunch crowd while the indoor dining room was sparsely populated. Service was fine; our drinks were refilled quickly and our check came quickly. read more

We had a nice time. We were able to talk with our friends even though it was a noisy place. Food was fine, no real complaints until I went to use the restroom. That was the dirtiest, most, disgusting I've ever been in in a restaurant. All I can think now, between shivers of remorse, is, how clean is the kitchen? They need to power wash and disinfect the entire bathroom. Top to bottom. Twice. read more

Get the mug club and enjoy the holidays in style. Love this place. Home away from home with custom summer brews. Best place ever.

I really like the warm and inviting atmosphere of CJs! I popped in recently and firstly loved all the holiday lights they had up. It's also conveniently located right near Jax car wash and wonderland bowling so it could be a fun night out after having a nice meal here. I noticed they have daily specials posted on the outside of the front door which is neat too. The service was really good and prompt. I like the variety on the menu, my only qualm was I got the salmon as my entree and I could've sworn it said at the bottom of the menu a side salad upcharge was $3 but I was charged $7 I realized later and it was a small salad. The salmon was a tad salty but still edible. I highly recommend the Brussels sprouts here as the mix of agave and sriracha is an amazing combination and the portion size was great to share amongst 2-3 people. I would return as the menu has something for everyone, the wine was good; and it has tvs for the sports watchers in your friend/ fam group. read more

If you told me that pizza in greater Detroit area could taste so good, I wouldn't believe you. However, after experiencing the pizza at CJ's Brewing Company, I can believe it. We were visiting family in Michigan and they swear by this place. So, naturally, I had to see what the hype was all about. Read the review below to find out why the HYPE is REAL. Food/Drink: 5/5 We had ordered 2 pizzas for our group. We were all looking forward to this meal as we had a pretty light lunch and did not eat much afterwards. We devoured them as they were so crispy and thick. One pizza is definitely more than enough to feed 2 people depending on the appetite. They are also delicious and truly I cannot wait to visit Michigan again for this hidden gem. The drinks are really good too. You cannot go wrong with any of the beers. There is a beverage for everyone. Due to my lack of decisiveness, I went with the flight of beer. The waitress provided good recommendations. Ambience: 5/5 Loved the decor. Very inviting. Very much gives off a sports bar with a hint of family friendly all while maintaining a brewery feel. This is a hard ambience to capture, but they were able to successfully do it. We probably would have sat outdoors, but due to the weather opted for the indoors. Service 5/5: Very friendly staff who are very accommodating to our requests and modifications. read more

Cj's Always provides good service, food, and drinks. Mug club is a great deal and they always have a good selection of beer.

We met up for lunch on a beautiful sunny Saturday. Funny thing was we weren't hungry. Hahah. He had a couple of beers (red) and I just had some water. I was freezing so I got some soup to warm me up. Honestly, I really only like French onion because of the cheese. I should just order melted cheese on a plate. Lol. Anyway, there were plenty of TVs to watch the game. The atmosphere was comfortable. The bartender was amazing. It was a very fun place where you could go alone or with family. I can't give 5 stars until I try the beer. So I guess I'll have to go back. I work in the area so that won't be a problem. Overall I recommend this place. Give it a try! read more
