The waitress waiting on me seems pleasant. The kitchen is rather narrow, not much space for more than one person, depth-wise. They have a really good variety of Delight flavored coffees: caramel macchiato, Irish crème, hazelnut and vanilla. They have fresh squeezed OJ. Ordered a green tea, turkey Reuben with both kraut and slaw, large Greek salad, feta on the side, hobo skillet, scrambled eggs and biscuit and a side of cinnamon raisin toast instead of pita bread. $45.05 I feel blessed that I use both sides of my brain. I can be technical, analytical, I can be creative, I am proficient with the English language. I am organized. I have good traits that go across both sides of my brain. The turkey Reuben is good, small, but the rye is still toasted and slightly crunchy. The cinnamon raisin toast is cinnamon, no raisin, it was so-so. I smothered it with cream cheese, made it more palatable. The Greek salad was ok. It's a bustling diner. The hobo skillet was good. Service is their strength. First of all, I love the rooster decorations all over the place. My server Kayla was very good and nice and informed me what's popular. I ordered the hobo skillet with their house made corned beef. It came with either a biscuit or side of toast so I chose toast. The skillet was very hot so the only thing I wish they did was bring me an extra plate rather than eating it directly out of the skillet. Our waitress was so kind, and she kept checking back in for coffee refills. The food was good, I got a vegetarian omelette and it tasted good, I would recommend it! However, the veggies were folded inside the omelette, kind of like a burrito, so it kept falling out. Usually the veggies are baked into the omelette itself. My friend got the country omelette and he didn't have the same issue, but his has less toppings than mine too. Overall, taste was good but it could've been better. Everything is fresh! The food is fresh, they have fresh fruit for the food instead of just fruit filling, and fresh squeezed orange juice! The scrambled eggs were delicious. The service is definitely some of the fastest I've experienced. It's a small, cute breakfast place. The only downside was we ordered hash browns, a pretty typical breakfast food, and were told they don't have hash browns but I see them in the reviews here and I've gotten them at their other location so I'm not sure if this is a recent change or why they would have gotten rid of them. read more

Early Bird had been on our radar for about a year. Believe it or not we got in without waiting on New Years Eve, around 11:30 am. This is a cute little diner perfectly placed on the edge of downtown Northville. I have visited both on the busy weekend and in the middle of the work week for breakfast. It gets pretty busy on the weekends and since this diner is so small, you'll be waiting for a while standing (nearly sitting on top of) the tables by the entrance. I recommend keeping this as a mid-week spot instead as it is far more enjoyable. My first visit, I ordered an omelette and the second I did their pumpkin spice French toast (on special for fall). I would not recommend the French toast as it was too rich the more I ate it. The rest of the menu seems like your usual diner quality and selection - not bad but not amazing either. I would definitely come back just for a quiet low key breakfast during the week. read more

Nice little breakfast joint located in downtown Northville. Of note, the prices are very reasonable versus many of the other breakfast places I frequent in the area, especially when considering how prices have gone sky high over the last year. I had their breakfast special (Monday thru Friday offering until 11am) of two eggs, potatoes and choice of meat for $6.40 where the food was well made and tasty. Coffee was hot and quite good with friendly and prompt service and nice follow ups especially on the refills. Based on this price point and quality of food I am a fan and will definately be returning in the near future as us retiree's (at least the ones I know) are always on the look out for value restaurants like this that offer good food at a good price with a friendly smile to boot! read more

My wife and I are still relatively new to this area, so we decided to try out this place for breakfast. It had good reviews and seasonal specials, so we thought it would be a great start to our morning. However, I was very disappointed with my experience. First, let's talk about the good stuff. The service was fast and all of the staff we interacted with were very friendly and accommodating. They're constantly refilling coffee and checking in on the status of your table. This a very popular, busy place on a Sunday morning. We thought that this would be a good sign of a great dining experience. Oh how wrong we were. I ordered from the seasonal specials - the peach waffles, plus a standard order of bacon. The bacon was like biting into a flavorless cracker. Well, i guess there was a burnt flavor to the bacon, if that's your thing. I highly doubt the bacon was cooked fresh that morning. I guess it was cooked a day or so before and warmed up prior to being served. How could thick cut bacon be THAT dry? Anyways, on to the peach waffles- halfway into eating the waffles I discovered a fairly long strand of hair. Gross. The server was very accommodating and took these items off the bill. I just ended up ordering an English Muffin, and even that was a hit burnt. My wife had a corned beef has skillet. There were no technical problems with her meal, it was just bland and flavorless. She ended up adding table pepper to it just to give it - something. Well prepared and seasoned food almost never requires additional salt, pepper, or flavoring. So with other options around, we probably won't be back to this place. It's a shame because downtown Northville is really quite a lovely place, with many quality dining establishments. We stopped here for breakfast before heading home from a long weekend trip to Michigan to have breakfast. Even on a week day, it was very busy with a full parking lot! We really liked that there were several "mini breakfast" options (a couple pancakes and bacon, or toast, bacon/sausage and an egg) for $5.50 -- very affordable, and nice if you don't need a huge meal. More places should do this sort of option! Since they were trying to turn over tables quickly we were able to get back on the road quickly. I went here for the first time on Sat.November 2, 2024! I loved this place. The people were nice and kind and even though they were busy, they treated us so well with so much respect. This restaurant was very clean. Even with all of the crowd they had it was Very clean. The waitress was very kind. She had beautiful black hair and brown eyes, and she could not have been Friendlier and very adept. The food was wonderful. There were three of us. One of us got the western omelette. One of us got the chocolate chip waffles, and one of us got the eggs Benedict. each plate was. done perfectly! Nobody ever rushed us and the atmosphere was one of embracing everybody! I love the vibes there. The man with whom I spoke as I paid, my bill was very patient and kind and answered my questions and just made everything all perfect. Don't miss this place. I'm shocked by the horrible treatment I've received at this restaurant. I work across the street from The Early Bird and used to go there nearly every weekday for over a year. I kept going because of the convenience and how fast the food (which is decent) comes out. However, even as a regular, the waitresses became very mean to me. I eat out a lot, and generally tip the standard 20 percent and keep to myself, and have never experienced anything like that at any other restaurant. The treatment I received at this place was actually hurtful (and I'm a 40-year-old attorney). No customer should ever be treated the way that I was. My strong advice: take your business anyway else. Food was great! Other than finding a stray piece of ham on my toast when ham wasn't in my order and no green cholula, it was great and just like its sister location in Keego Harbor. Service was good but made us a bit nervous that there was no list for seating. Apparently we have been missing out on this hidden gem! We were looking for a brunch place that was kid-friendly for my little one, and decided to try The Early Bird. When you walk in, you immediately get the feel of an old school diner - crammed-in tables, seats at the old-fashioned bar, plus all the cute chicken/bird decor to top off the ambience. We sat ourselves, and the service was quick and friendly. They even brought a toy to my toddler as soon as we sat down, which was really nice. The food came out really fast, and was yummy. I visited this place because they were open when I was ready to eat and what a great experience it was. There is chicken deco everywhere. This is in line with the name early bird. Otherwise it is pretty up to date, new tables, recovered booths etc. Due to covid they are operating at 50% capacity. Every other table is closed. Staff is wearing masks and attentive to sanitation. I was sitting in a 4 top table alone, a family came in and tried to squeeze in a 2 top. I offered to switch tables with them and when the server saw it she was there to sanitize both tables even though we had only been at each table a few minutes. My food came very quickly. I ordered my eggs over medium, many cooks have a hard time doing this. They either leave the yolks runny or cook them all the way through. These were perfect. The sausage patties were very tasty and the bacon is thick cut which I prefer. Just a note. The hours have been adjusted temporarily so they do not open until 7am.
