Standard bar food. Everyone's food was fine, and it's about what you'd expect. I'm not a huge beer drinker but my friends enjoyed the options. If you're interested in a great meal, I think there's better options nearby. read more

Wonderful food and very top notch service. Bar seating is a little tight when there is a live show that night next door. Good idea to make a reservation if you want to sit in the nicer table area in the back rather than the tight seating under the big screen TV. My Concert Experiences Through the Years Teens: Will wait hours before show, excited to see boobs (RIP HFStival), love being in the pit Early 20's: realize the pit is stinky and full of germs - would prefer sitting in seats, but hate how stage rushers block your view. Hate that you have to get there early and boobs not nearly as exciting. Now that I'm older and married w/ child, I don't like waiting around hours just to get in - that's extra time for the babysitter. and boobs are viewed as nourishment packs. Consequently, I LOVED Ram's Head. You have assigned seats and there's no one rushing the stage so your view is pretty much unimpeded. It's a very intimate, relaxed setting. I didn't try any of the drinks or food, so no help there. The people across from me did order the Key Lime Pie but it was mostly whipped cream and they left a lot of it, so I would say that's a pass. Note: 21 and over only for evening shows. They do have kids shows on some weekend mornings. There is a garage close to the Tavern, but I'd recommend trying to find street parking. Ever had one of "those" days? Yeah, me too and Tuesday was it...let's start with the closure of the Greenway when you need to be in Annapolis for your first meeting of the day that starts at 9 am. So, you've probably figured out that we were out the door by 6:30 and our 1 1/2 hr drive turned into the proverbial 3 hour tour...oh Gilligan you are my hero! No breakfast, no lunch, many meetings without a break...so after our final meeting of the day we were blessed with the close proximity of the Rams Head Tavern. Yeah Us!! Oak Barrel Stout, stat! The beer comes out just like I like it cold, frothy on top and soooo rich, yum. Next please! Ordered a greek salad topped with shaved Gyro meat. OMG, it was just what I needed. The romaine was fresh and crisp, calamatta olives, red onion slivers, huge chunks of feta and the dressing allotment didn't weight down the ingredients. The meat...oh that slight crispy crust on the outside, tender moist and well seasoned inside, what's not to like? Dessert - only one house made offering - Peanut Butter Pie. Our brains still telling us we were starving, even though the beer, fresh rolls and salad filled us up were fooled by our lips, tongue and voice box working in harmony to say "yes, we'll take one for each of us." before we could stop ourselves. We finished every last bite...and it were gooooood. I love this venue, if it was closer I'd carve my name in one of the booths. Last night, my fiance and I met up with friends, to enjoy the fabulous Michelle Farrell concert. This was our first experience here and noticed the atmosphere was nice and intimate, and the food and mixed drinks were good. Definitely a perfect venue to enjoy live music. The problem arises as I'm finishing up my meal and drinking a glass of ice water. As I've sipped almost half the water down, I notice a large, brown ROACH floating in my glass. As the lighting was very low, I needed to confirm what I thought I saw with my friends. Sure enough, after everyone inspected it, they confirmed it was a roach and immediately stormed out. The manager was extremely apologetic, and comped our entire night. I'm still completely disgusted about the entire experience and I hope the management takes this issue very seriously by following up with an exterminator. I'd also encourage the Board of Health check this venue to ensure they are operating a clean and safe establishment. GROSS and YUCK! read more

If a $4.25 6-beer sampler and dining next to beautiful copper distillery equipment sounds nice to you, you will enjoy your visit here. I have done many a liquor promotion here without ever eating, so until now, I have been very familiar with this establishment but not their food. If you enter in through the Fordhams's Brewery door, the place looks like a maze of stairs and drops in different directions. The polished copper beer drums they have in the entry are just amazing looking, even for someone who isn't a total beer enthusiast. The dining area is small, the bar adjacent to it is cozy with nice dark wood tones and there is a even snugger downstairs bar nook if you didn't know. The patio is also a gorgeous place to sit and relax when the weather is right. All four of us ordered beer; I wasn't sure which one I would fancy, so I got the sampler. I really enjoyed the Light Lager, the Wit Tail seasonal beer which had notes of orange and ginger (pretty tasty) and the Dominion Oak Barrel stout was my fave. It tasted like roasted coffee and chocolate; that's how my taste buds work anyway. The friends all liked the stout too, even though they're not traditionally into darks. I had a chicken nacho craving so we all shared exactly that as our appetizer. The nachos were crisp and nicely layered with seasoned chicken, lettuce, tomato, cheese, sour cream, chives and olives. We were glad that these weren't soggy, but the refried beans were on the bottom of the plate UNDER the nachos. We thought, "eh? wtf?" I got the Turkleberry; yes it has a cute name that sounds like a little cuddly turkey with the body of a fluffy bunny or something weird like that, but the wrap tasted pointedly healthy, and this wasn't good for a Sunday lunch of beer and nachos. The turkey and orange-cranberry cream cheese and sprouts curled into the flour tortilla seemed soggy and bland in an overwhelming way. The beer sampler and the nachos really sealed the deal in making me happy, though. I must mention that there are a lot of tasty-looking items on their menu I'd like to try, albeit they all have crazy names like "Don CornyCado" salad and the "Hokie Melt". Ram's Head is a great stop for lunch, dinner and especially entertainment. Chances are you have one semi-close to you since they have locations in Baltimore, Savage Mills, and 2 in Annapolis. A wonderful microbrewery in its own right, the best reason to come is to enjoy the cozy space as a venue for musicians of all stripes. I've seen Squirrel Nut Zippers & The Firecracker Jazz Band, as well as others - there really isn't a bad seat in the house. That said, seating is limited... if there's a popular band, get tickets early, as the house sells out fast. The beer selection is a bit limited. However, if you're a Fordham lover, this is your place. Ram's Head is the place to get Fordham on tap--and they had almost all current offerings (including seasonals) available. A bit on the pricey side (beer in the concert venue was about like the ballpark--$5 a glass); a nice Copperhead and great music really make for a wonderful evening. Also available is light pub-food level stuff- I'd reccomend the nachos or grilled portobello mushroom sandwiches. Dessert-wise, you can be blessed with a cinnamon-roll-style carrot cake with cream cheese icing spiraled throughout. The staff is very attentive, but not intrusive - just enough to make sure you're taken care of, but not blocking the stage. All in all, well worth the trip. read more

I saw Dave Barnes here a few months ago, and I fell in love with this place, mostly because of the artists and crowds that this place draws. If you look at most quality non-mainstream artist's tour stops, they always come here, which says a lot about this place. I love... - the intimate atmosphere. When you order your tickets, you choose your seats at a table and I got to know some of the people sitting near me, and it was a really unique experience. - the surrounding area. After our show, my group and I wandered around Annapolis because we'd never really explored it before. There are so many gems around here that we couldn't believe that we didn't frequent the area more! - the cheap tickets. I think we paid around $20, and when you're going to see the talent that this venue brings, it's a steal. read more

I am at a concert here. I like the small venue. But i called 4 hours before the show and they couldn't tell me if i could bring a camera or not. Said i had to call closer to the show. Wtf. Then im sitting here right now and its only 11pm and they tell me they are out of miller light. In the whole bar and restaurant. Really??? If you run out of a miller or bud product before 11pm on the night of a concert you are crap. St Patty's day is crazy wherever you go around here and Rams Head was no different- packed with drunkards that had started drinking at 3pm but they were still friendly and not too obnoxious since they were struggling to stand up straight. This place can be packed and I would rather go somewhere like Dock St or Armadillos closer to the water but this place can be fun too. If you have the right group of friends you'll have a great time regardless of the location. There's an outside patio area and I've been to concerts here too. read more

Happy Hour wings like trying to find a unicorn under a rainbow, then no flavor, hardly seasoned no dips terrible even if they offer them for free at least make them good. They run out constantly even though you have to have a ticket to get a few, they have a guy standing gaurd over them also with a tip jar... Service was good at the bar, the food I ordered was also good, however I judge a place on what they serve and this place served some crappy wings, if I would have paid for them I would have returned them. We've been here a few times, especially during the holidays (Thanksgiving & Christmas), when there's nothing else open. The service can be a little lacking, but I imagine there's a limited staff on those days. The worst was one Thanksgiving when our waiter ended his shift and didn't seem to pass us on to someone else in a timely manner, so we asked over and over for sauces and new drinks that didn't arrive. He actually actively ducked us when we tried to wave him down, maybe because he was trying to leave? They do offer a Thanksgiving dinner for a fixed price that has a lot of the traditional offerings, like turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and pie. They pare down the rest of the menu but there's a still a reasonable variety of things, ranging from chili to fish tacos to crab tots. On Christmas, which fell on a Sunday this year, they offered not only the full menu, but a variety of NFL specials and even their $5 Sunday burger deal, which is pretty awesome. They had a few Christmas-ish specials (like a NY Strip) but nothing like the Thanksgiving dinner. Their cream of crab soup is pretty good, with nice lumps of crab meat scattered on top of a very rich soup. The crab cake sandwich, on the other hand, is kind of stringy and sad -- not lump -- and doesn't taste like much. Their mac and cheese is huge and pretty good, especially if you get it topped with crab. Their burgers are properly cooked (which seems like it shouldn't be hard to do, but a lot of places ask how you want it and seem to completely disregard it) and their homemade chips are crispy and delicious. I recall their Thanksgiving plate wasn't too bad when I had it last year but the stuffing was oddly sweet. The mac and cheese on that plate is different than their usual (why?) and not as good. They've got plenty of beers on tap but it's a bit of a hassle to figure out what's available. The waiters don't always know and it's easiest to just to survey the taps at both bars to decide. They should really do a chalkboard with the options! read more

Very disappointing brunches here. I ordered their menu's riff on eggs benedict that said it included pit ham. What came out was clearly Canadian bacon, so I sent it back. But it was returned exactly the same and I was told that it was as described on the menu. Even the waitress said she was puzzled and that it didn't look right. It's one thing to serve something that's different than what's described on the menu; it brings it to an entirely new level of offensive to then say that food not matching the description on the menu is what was ordered. I've been to brunch here more than once because I *really* wanted it to be good. It's a fun location on West St. It seems impossible to get refills on drinks (like coffee) and once, when I asked the waitress if the coffee was decaf, I was told that she wasn't sure. read more

4.5 Stars. My visit to the Ram's Head was a couple of years ago but the experience is still ingrained in my mind as the best brunch I've ever had. Some friends and I stopped in for the Sunday Jazz Brunch. A quartet of musicians were playing some really smooth laid back jazz that I would venture to guess even non jazz lovers would enjoy. They even fulfilled my friends request to play "The Girl from Ipanema". It was a great rendition of the song! My brunch started off with a delicious Bloody Mary. Among one of the better Bloody Mary's I've ever enjoyed. It's lunchtime on a Monday as I write this from my office desk and I'd pay a handsome sum for a Ram's Head Bloody Mary right now! For my entree I ordered a delicious South of the Border breakfast that sadly they no longer offer. I went to their website before writing my review to get the name of my entree and saw that they have a new menu. I remember the breakfast potatoes as being really out of this world, I hope they still make those the same way. While sad that the entree I enjoyed is no longer available I can't wait to go and try some of the new menu items! read more

Come here for the entertainment, not for the food and drinks! We've had the crab dip, calamari, various sandwiches, fish and chips, and shepherds pie...and nothing was really "slap-yo-momma-good". Pollock for fish and chips, really? Couldn't they have replaced the pollock with cod instead? Eating pollock is like eating krab with a "K" - also known as imitation crab. And the shepherds pie...oh my gross. Who messes up a bowl of slow cooked beef in gravy and mashed potatoes? Soggy, salty, and not even broiled to get that oh so delicios brown crusty top on the mash potato peaks. Sad. And the drinks...dun dun duuuuuuuuun. The selection of beers were great. The mixed drinks were just a mirror image of the food quality. Mediocre, at best. We will not come back, unless there's a really good band in town. In that case, we will eat elsewhere first. read more

I've been here one time before years ago. A Monday night concert for me is really living on the wild side. I typically don't think about getting the party started till Wednesday, but who can resist the soulful and international jazzy sounds of Incognito with Diva Extraordinaire Maysa? We arrived at 9 for the 9:30pm show, there is a parking garage across the street, and they only charged us $3. The tickets for the show were about $35. We were seated promptly and able to order after about 10 minutes. Our hostess was gracious and hospitable given the overload of tables she had. I ordered the crab cake sandwich with homemade potato chips. The chips were fresh, hot, and salty. The medium size crab cake itself was mild in flavor, a pretty good standard sandwich for the price. Everything was tasty. The dining room show area is cozy. I didn't mind putting on something a little extra special to come here. The ambiance at Rams head is way better than the Birchmere. The food, drinks, and price are way better than Blues Alley. The sound is great; you can still chat without screaming. I could even see past the tall man sitting in front of me. My only complaint is that by the time my Long Island Ice Tea got to me it was a bit watered down from the melted ice. Other drinks like the martinis and my brother's beer appeared to be fine. The bill came to $61 (not including tip) for 3 people and we each had a drink. I would make my way out here much more often if they had more jazz neo-soul shows; however I must admit they do have a very diverse line up. read more

Let's just all give this place 4 stars everyone! This seems like the kind of place I would frequent if I lived around here. But I don't. Well, it is obviously a 4 overall. I had a stout (very good) a southwest salad (not too shabby), and a bowl of the crab soup (when in Maryland... unfortunately, not very good). The soup came out at room temperature but I was able to forgive somewhat because the Genius Stout was so good - and I have been making beer for 13 years. Did they make it here? I'm not sure. They may be benefiting an extra star here because I had so much crappy food in Annapolis, but it's hard to say for sure. If you are looking for bar food and some drinks, this will suffice. Took a bud from FL with a taste for craft beer. The Rams head was stop number 3 or 4 on our tour. The Scene. We did a pretty good recon on Main Street and the landing and RHT was the by far the jumping-est joint with a young, hip, good looking crowd. Our server, Laura was funny, efficient and accommodating. The scene was everything I wanted. The Beer. We had been drinking Guinness and switched to Fordham's darkest offering, Oak Barrel Stout. OK, so I'll be honest - I did not have my glasses, the print was pretty small and I though it said Oat meal Stout (one of my favorites). The Oak was very pronounced but the beer was otherwise overshadowed by the Guinness that preceded it. I followed that with a Copperhead Ale, reminiscent of a sweet Canadian style, maybe like Moosehead. The Chow. Last time I was here, the food was really good. This time, not so much. We ordered some wings - half buffalo, half old bay. Now I love my wings well done, but these were overcooked to the point of being dry and scrawny. The OB style were more salty than anything else, but honestly, there was so much going on in my mouth with the beer maybe I just didn't taste it. We had the fried calamari, remarkable only for the portion size (big). The little guys were under seasoned, unevenly cooked (rings overdone, tentacles better) and served with cocktail sauce. By far, this is my favorite restaurant in Annapolis. Just got back from another great dinner. Had the spicy steak wrap that actually had a good amount of heat with great feta. Family had the cob salad, salmon blt, crab Mac n cheese, and the shrimp and grits. Everyone loved everything; all were members of the clean plate club. Paired the meals with the delicious bloody ale Mary and rams head ipa which were all great. Don't get the slim shandy though. It was gross. read more

Unexpectedly ... delightful! Had dinner here before a show (saw Last Train Home - they were fantastic ..whiskey-driven lyrics, steel guitar and great covers from Dylan to Tom T Hall to the Seldom Scene). Sat outside at a sidewalk table, drank several interesting (read: good) draft IPAs and had the chef's special - a Cuban pork wrap with black beans and bananas (yes, sounds strange ..but it was delish). Service was friendly and knowledgable - at least in recommending IPAs. The sidewalk seating was great for people watching .. there was a pretty constant stream of cars and motorbikes 'cruising' by .. guess that about sums up a fun Saturday night in Annapolis! read more

We went for a concert (our tenth or twelfth). The concert was great. The food and service was fine. It isn't clear to me that Ram's Head can do much better than fine when service has to work in the dark and try to avoid sight lines and EVERYONE wants to cash out at once. The menu is sufficiently diverse to provide nearly anyone content. The servers are available and check back. The kitchen does a good job. It beats many if not most concert venues. read more

I really Like coming to Rams Head for a few of their daily specials. It's a nice local bar that has some great food deals. Sundays are $5.00 burgers, Mondays are $19.99 whole Lobster dinner, Tuesdays are $16.99 Prime Rib, All very good prices and the quality of food is way better than you'd expect. The atmosphere is a bit loud but quaint and friendly. I've brought friends and coworkers here for some of the specials and have never been disappointed. It does get crowded so plan ahead. The Lobster and Prime Rib are also limited so they can run out later at night. read more

LOVE Ramshead Tavern! Great for beer snobs who also like an excellent selection of appetizers. The large order of nachos is great for sharing for a group of 4 or more. Lobster hush puppies are really great, as is the crab dip and cheese sticks. I have been a huge fan of Ram's Head ever since I moved to Annapolis in 2011--it is (almost too) conveniently right down the street from my office, making it easy to stop in for what I would argue is one of the best happy hours in town. My favorite part? The drinks are reasonably priced, there is a great draft beer selection and every weeknight features a different complimentary food item. (Friday is best for Old Bay and hot wings). Rams Head beer releases are another one of my favorite things about this place, first Thursday of every month--mark your calendars! The beer garden out back is not to be missed in the summer, just make sure you get there early as it fills up quick. Now the prices definitely have increased recently, which I understand (unfortunately) is a sign of the times but that won't stop me from enjoying a delicious meal there too. I generally go for one of the sandwiches or burgers so I can't speak to some of the items on the menu but I've never had anything I didn't like. This is definitely one of my favorite places to bring out-of-town visitors before walking around downtown. read more

Really hoping that this was just an off day. Party of 6 for dinner. Waiter seemed to be lost right from the first contact. After twenty mins we were able to get our orders in, and about twenty mins later we received our food. I ordered a cup of cream of crab soup which was cold and old bay wings which were not very good. How do you screw up wings? Our party asked for a couple refills on drinks which we never got. The real fun began when we asked for the bill. Waiter said he did not want to split the check because he would mix up al the orders. He said he would prefer if we just split the check. Some paid cash others cards and he was unable to understand how to handle. I am very disappointed, and this was absolutely one of the worst meals.
