Walked in and was greeted with a big smile and asked if we were there for dinner. Told her, "Nope. We're here for dessert!" I had the lemon meringue tart and hubby had a shortbread chocolate dipped cookie. Both were excellent in flavor and texture. I stopped in to get a gift card and decided to try their cafe mocha, well the young lady asked for my order, I said: May I have a cafe mocha, her response was a look of disgust and purposeful confusion, she said: A what? A cafe what? I repeated: a cafe mocha? Her face gave me a look of confusion looking at her co worker. I was like ok? So I said: a mocha.......then she was said: ohh ok. She made feel like I was a huge inconvenience and was annoyed that I wanted anything. Not sure what I did wrong but I will go else where. While standing there waiting on my order they are great at calling regulars their names, greeting them or hollering good-byes. Those who are not feel insignificant. I keep my business local because I believe in investing in my community. As a native to this area, it's important. This location has lost my business. We spent 60 min and 80 dollars for take out breakfast. All the food and drinks were good but if I would've known ahead of time how long it would take, I would've gone elsewhere. We ordered multiple items: two breakfast sandwiches, two breakfast burritos, Thai waffles, two coffees, and an apple pie. The pie and coffees were ready right away. The rest of the food took close to 30 min to come out. They have lots of people working. I saw at least 7 people but most are focused on refilling the glass cases with pastries or making espresso drinks. Everyone that ordered after us got their food first (more than 10 orders). Admittedly some of them may not have ordered hot food but it added to the frustration of waiting. When I checked the bag (thankfully) before we left I realized they had forgotten one of the breakfast sandwiches. Apparently the person who took our order only put one of the two sandwiches in. We even corrected this when he read back the order but he was clearly confused by us ordering two of the same thing and only included one. So now my coffee has been in my hand for 30 min (can't drink bc of Covid and I'm waiting inside) and now the food that was correctly put in is getting cold. I have to flag someone down to tell them my order is missing something. I ask him to put in the order and I walk over to pay. He then tells me that they're out of croissants now (after 35 min of waiting, they likely had croissants when we first ordered). When I tell him we'll take a bagel, he says "with what on it?" I'm so annoyed at this point. I obviously wanted the sandwich we ordered! It took 15 min to get the final sandwich after the back and forth of the croissant and bagel. I'll note that I never got an apology or offer of good will for waiting an hour for food or for the person at the register's mistake, until I finally got the sandwich and walked out. "Sorry for the mistake." I asked for another coffee because at this point it was not hot. They did it, but looked annoyed at the request. We spent a ton of money and I tipped $10 on the original order of $59 for take out. Then the final sandwich was over $8. I don't need you to do anything other than get my order right and be polite. No one was outright rude or anything but I think they should have admitted their mistake and offered something to fix the mistake. They acted as though I messed up and they were just helping me fix my own mistake. Also, even without the mistake it was too long for some basic food. They're getting three stars for the food because it was tasty (although most of it was cold). I think this place is probably a good place and I don't want to be totally negative and nasty about it. But I certainly wouldn't come here for take out again and would triple check that the person taking the order is getting it accurately. read more

It gets very loud and crowded inside seemingly at all times of the day, but if you can find a spot on the patio outside, the setting is lovely. Prices are a bit high for alcohol (~$14 for a glass of red wine), but the quality of everything is excellent. Everyone working here has been very nice, even when things get hectic and busy. I especially recommend the meat and cheese platter - It is a steal at ~$16 since it makes an elegant light lunch for 2 people! read more

The only negative is the lack of parking. I get it because of the location. It's because of the location that this place is awesome being so close to the hospital and clinics. Eureka is not a place I expect to find little gems like Ramones. When I go there, I go for the red walks, the trails and to see my nephews. I had begun to explore as many different coffee shops as I could throughout Oceanside and Carlsbad, and so when I had to venture north for a family function I thought I would try a couple of coffee shops in Eureka just for the hell of it. I must say... I was astonished! Absolutely speechless! It has a charming atmosphere, the baristas are knowledgeable and personable and, despite the crowdedness of this bustling cafe, they managed to take my order and have it in my hand far more promptly than I would have expected! I really appreciate the service and the attitude of this place. Husband is here daily I go occasionally and have been pleased and satisfied on every turn. I love the diversity of the menu from breakfast to dinner. I enjoy the sandwiches, salads and entrees, along with the pastries, tea, coffee, hot chocolate and cookies for the grandbabies. This is a great place to meet up with family and friends, as well as, having meetings. The staff has been pleasant at every turn and accommodating special requests. Okay.... where do I even begin?! We stopped at Ramones multiple times during our road trip on the 101 and it did not disappoint!! For starters, they made the BEST cappuccino I've ever had! I bought a bag of their espresso beans and wow. I need to find a way to get more because I'm not sure I can ever drink another coffee again! We had breakfast here two mornings and I had an omelette one morning and Chia pudding another. I really enjoyed the Chia pudding! Their pastries are also unreal! I took home extra baklava because it is not something you can find very often. It was a real treat. They also make homemade sourdough bread and sell it by the loaf. While I was taking home everything else I couldn't not take home bread. The only thing I didn't enjoy was the cheesecake. I couldn't tell you what it was; I just wasn't a fan. Wow, has this place gone down hill. My husband works right around the corner so we've been a few times, had some good sandwiches. The past 2 times we've gone, once last week, and one a few months ago, it hasn't been a good experience. The staff is completely disorganized, they wander aimlessly, the "baker" you can see through the window is standing around talking to the cooks while they try to make food with his huge beard hanging out everywhere with no net covering it. I also heard the cooks saying several times as they send out food, "Oops! I made the wrong thing!" Really? Quit smoking in the back and maybe you could make the right thing. Seeing this baker standing around like he has nothing to do is also upsetting, especially since we go there for a certain sandwich, The Muffaletta Panini, it's delicious on focaccia bread, but really doesn't taste good on sourdough. The past two times we've been they've been out of focaccia. A bakery is seriously out of focaccia? The last time we were there I was happy because we weren't informed this bread was out (or never even made at all that day) until after we ordered and a waiter came over to tell us, not ask us, but tell us, that the sandwich would be coming on sourdough. No explanation, no asking if we wanted something else. When the sandwich came I sent it back, and asked for it on wheat bread. What they came back with the saddest excuse for a sandwich I've ever seen, completely skimped on ingredients and just pathetic. We wont' be coming back to this Ramone's again. read more
