I stopped by on a recent Sunday after a lovely walk around Lake Congers. Upon entering, I noticed the decor is tasteful, elegant and provides a warm ambiance overall. I was then warmly welcomed with the most sunny smile by Stephanie who offered to seat me right away. Since I wanted take out instead, she provided me with a menu and pointed out wonderful options and made great suggestions. I decided on the Turkey chili which seemed like a solid choice. While I was waiting I was introduced to the chef, Christopher and the owner, Ramona. Both Christopher and Ramona were a joy to talk to and despite being busy, were kind enough to spend a little time with me! My meal was prepared and packaged in hardly any time at all and leaving actually felt like I was leaving home! Honestly, it's hard to find such wonderful family values and it was a short but wonderful experience. My turkey chili was rich and delicious and hit the spot. Do yourself a favor soon, take a ride over to Ramona's in West Nyack and try out some of the home cooked with care treats on their menu. Look for Stephanie's million dollar smile! Went upstate to get my ring fixed...excuse to try a brunch place. Hubby found Ramona's, very highly rated on Yelp. It was difficult to find as there is a small sign by the driveway leading to the parking lot and restaurant. The building is set in, not by the street, and there was no obvious signage. It looks like a simple house in the parking lot. Upon entering, the room felt quaint and cozy. We were immediately seated as we went during the week and it was quiet. Hubby had the pancakes with sausage and I ordered the omelette. The pancakes were tasty and not dense. The sausages were unfortunately 3 small breakfast sausages. For an additional $4, 2 fat sausages would have been nice. My omelette was good but I don't know if I would call it fluffy. The eggs were flat and the only "fluffy" part maybe that the inside of the omelette was slightly undone. Coffee was nice and rich. I gave this place 4 stars because there was nothing wrong and the food was good. Although this place isn't mind blowing, I think if I lived here it would be a nice regular place for brunch. Ramona's is an excellent choice for freshly made foods from their menu. Without a doubt, they prepare the largest blueberry pancakes that I have ever seen or eat, along with very good French toast. Ramona and her family run the restaurant and every one of them are friendly and pleasant. But be aware that the restaurant is on the smaller side and thus, more cozy than many other places. Ramona's is a nice alternative when all the Nyack restaurants are jampacked and you don't feature all that and what a nice quiet space to enjoy a decent weekend breakfast or weekday lunch. Wow! The place is cute and cozy, although I would have to go again when is full to see how I feel because the tables are very small. Nonetheless, is a complete contrast from the outside. The houses around look like they are going to fall any second, and it will even make you hesitate if you are at the right place. But once you go inside is a different environment. The service was attentive and kind. My partner and I made it just before they closed (were the last ones) and everyone was nice and welcoming. They have the cutest, fluffiest dog as part of the staff - enough to say he's employee of the month. He doesn't come inside, greets guests outside sometimes. Of course I want to be a regular now. The food was really good. I am very picky with dry chicken and this was juicy. Not usually a fan of wraps because I feel like sometimes everything gets mushy or you have to search for the perfect bite but this one was flavorful, well seasoned, and had a good portion of everything. It came with a tasty balsamic sauce but honestly you did not even need it. With or without it was a success. My partner was super impressed with the sliders and devoured the whole dish even though he "wasn't hungry". He said the patty was moist, well seasoned, nice choice of bun, a pickle for the perfect amount of acidity. Both dishes had the option of cole slaw and potato salad so we tried one and one. I was not 100% a fan of the potatoes because I am particular about onions, peppers and celery. It's a personal thing so if you don't mind, try it. I would only say I needed some salt but I ate some with the juice of the pesto coming from my wrap and it was good. My partner liked the Cole slaw but I think he was more focused on the sliders to really be descriptive. I liked the prices for the place, quality of food, and proportions. Overall we spent $50 with tip and 2 sodas. We will be back and I am very curious what they would do if they served dinner! read more

Great local spot for breakfast/brunch! The restaurant kind of just looks like a house on an unassuming street, which gives it a nice small-town local vibe. The interior is cozy with a homey indoor area and an outdoor patio for seating. As for the food, the Aloha Hawaiian Breakfast Bowl was very good - the pernil (shredded pork) was tasty, the pineapples had a nice grilled flavor, and the poached eggs were nice and runny. The white rice underneath was a bit plain though. This bowl cost me $12, which was a pretty good deal. I also got an apple juice, which tasted store bought, but it was only $2, so that's fine. The staff were super friendly and helpful, and the service speed was fast. Overall, I am giving Ramona's Cafe a solid 4 stars for its quality food, great service, and nice homey small-town vibe. read more

I went to Ramona's Cafe on Sunday for brunch. I must say I was pleasantly surprised! While it may not look like a lot from the outside, inside is a quaint, welcoming & homey feel of a diner, where the owner & sweet waitress make sure you're greeted warmly & you take a seat. Besides walking in & feeling welcomed, it's so cozy. The aroma of fresh cooked chili was lightly perfuming the place, seducing you into taking some home before you left if you didn't have it while there. I love that they always serve breakfast! We opted for breakfast & were able to select our own fresh ingredients for our omelets & a great selection of bread... not just white toast or wheat...They had sour dough, rye & whole grain...this was a first & I must say, great! The coffee was freshly brewed & they didn't skimp giving you weak or watered down coffee, (my experience from other places). By the way, I bought 2 tubs of the chili home & we had it for dinner! The Chili was delish! If I have to complain, I just wish the tub was a larger size because it was a little pricey & left us wanting more! While we were still seated, (before leaving) the Chef came out to see if everything was good...& it definitely was! We were happy at everyone's warm & attentive manner! What a cute little brunch location! We came across Ramona's cafe while we were searching for brunch places near the area, and we're so glad we came here! The 2 of us got the Belgian waffle pancakes and the omelette. Both were so delicious. Esp the omelette with unlimited toppings and a huge portion! Hands down one of the best omelettes I've had. I stumbled upon Ramona's after an early morning breakfast spot search. Very quaint atmosphere. I had the omelette with cheese, onions, and peppers with a side of home fries. They were so crispy and good. The omelette was good and fresh and well cooked. My daughter had the French toast and it was also very good. The pancakes were really good. Served with powdered sugar and strawberries and blueberries. We all liked the pancakes. The coffee was yummy, too. My daughter had the all-American breakfast. An absolute gem, no two ways about it. Leaving congested Manhattan and getting a breath of fresh air upstate was exactly what we needed. Finding a relaxed, cozy, mom n pop eatery that reflected that upstate breath of fresh air was what we found at Ramona's. Small cafe with just 1 server and 1 chef -- two people working hard to deliver an A+ experience. Chris was in the kitchen and cooked up some amazing dishes. I had the best omelette here I've ever had. Potatoes were so perfectly crispy -- attention to detail matters to Chris. He had no ego and was happy to run out from the small kitchen to assist tables as needed -- a lost art that you'd never find here in NYC.
