I think my husband and I found our new spot - We love it there - Food was great and reasonably priced (only take cash btw), the waitress was respectful, and the ambiance had a good ma and pops kind of feel - We'll definitely be coming back -

Steak and eggs breakfast. I asked medium rare. It came well done. The coffee was watered down, horrible food.

The food in this place is horrible the coffee was cold the medium rare steak was well done

It's like your sad uncles kitchen. They serve underwhelming coffee with a side of cranky old people complaining about things they don't like 'anymore'. The good; eggs were cooked perfectly, good sausage, cute shot of juice. For 5.50 out the door I really shouldn't complain.

Nice and quaint

As little girls my sister and I would cross the street from our school and go to the Log Cabin (now Sparky's) for french fries.

Even family from out of state loves to visit Hogans! They have gluten free bread available and can accommodate that with my meals. I always love breakfast at a diner and was pleasantly surprised when I was able to have avocado toast with poached eggs today! Having a gluten allergy can be taxing on finding decent spots and not getting burnt out of the same options, but that has not been a problem here! Those not gluten free/vegetarian, have also enjoyed the variety of menu items. Many have said they have some of the most delicious french fries they have ever had. Parking can be a bit tight when busy, especially when 9W is busy, but usually it's doable and there are other lots within walking distance.

Instead of being greeted with a smile, we were asked if a booth was okay and than he walked away and threw two menu's on a table, never to look around or tell us to enjoy our meal! Absolutely no communication or eye contact. We should have left right then! Waitress gave us that same greeting . Literally asked what we wanted while looking at the table across from us! It was the worst service I ever experienced! For "okay" food, I think I'll take my business elsewhere!

The place was clean and tidy, I appreciated the historical photos of Peekskill around the dining area. The menu is not overly ambitious, but plenty of choices; the food was very good, portions not skimpy and definitely not over priced. They were cooked through and through. But it was still doughy; which tells me that how they mix their batter is the problem. I also got the Peekskill Diner Omelette. It was decent. 4 out of 5. About as good as any omelette from any surrounding diner. Unfortunately, the home fries were pretty mid. I wouldn't say they were undercooked because the potatoes were soft, but they were definitely not roasted long enough. I'm guessing they were boiled before roasted; which is fine, but they just need to roast them a lot longer because boiled potatoes absorb a ton of moisture and need the extra time roasting. Service was fine. Waiter was always on time. Water and coffee refills were on time. I would say 4.5/5 on service. Nothing wrong there. The manager was attentive, and looked like he was dedicated to making this Diner work. He's the only reason I'm giving this place a 4/5 and not a 3/5. I'm sure he'll be reading this review, and I'm sure he will work to make the food better. The actual restaurant itself is small. It feels a little cramped. Not as bad as the worst I've seen, but it does feel tight. I won't deduct any points for this because they're working with what they got. If they make the food better, they can go even tighter, and I won't complain. All in all, I think these guys are stretching themselves too thin. They wanna do the standard NY style Diner, but I think they'd be better off finding a niche. It's a small space. It doesn't need a menu that big. We need less variety and more quality in this area. All our diners in the area are mid. All of them. Westchester, 202, Mohegan, etc.... we don't need another mid diner. These guys will not last if they're gonna give us the same mediocre food we can get from bigger diners with more comfortable seating. At least the rest of them got better pancakes. If you're the manager and you're reading this, trust me when I say this. You may be busy now, but that will end. Start planning for a change. I recommend going down to City Limits Diner in White Plains to see what they're doing; if you really wanna stick to the NY style Diner vibes. Otherwise, find a niche. Find the thing that your head chef is passionate about, and let them make the best fking food in a 20 mile radius.

I love that this is an actual filling station, still with garage doors. You can eat inside or outside - doors were open for the nice weather but I'm sure the place is heated in the winter. Fun sign out front. The very friendly lady at the counter answered all our question and we chatted about the restaurant as we were deciding what to order. All 5 stars so far. So for burgers, I fully admit I'm a bit of a snob and hard to please. I was heartened that these are Pat LaFrieda style burgers: brisket, hanger steak, short rib, not chuck. So I gave it my best shot and ordered a TFS burger (caramelized onion, mushrooms, bacon) with two cheeses, cooked rare, plus a side of onion rings. As others have said here, my "rare" burger came out medium, so I'm sure glad I didn't leave it as the default medium. The burger was a little too salty but otherwise solid and full of flavor like good meats and toppings ought to be. The onion rings were not all that great - solid breading that drowns out the onion, and you don't get a lot for $8 (plus dipping sauces cost extra, unless you just take a ketchup or mustard packet). Verdict: I like this restaurant, but it's not enough to draw me back here or any other Filling Stations (all in authentic garages) without two changes: * When providing high quality meats, please cook burgers thick instead of thin so that they can come out actually rare for the best taste. * There were no prices in the liquor menu. I'm not even going to try ordering a beer (or other) if you don't tell me the cost up front.

The staff member the, Lana was really nice and we had a really nice chat. It was rustic, but basic interior with pent off seating inside and outside. As others have noted, they just expanded to include dinner hours some days, but we showed up for lunch and were seated right away. Menu isn't super huge, so I settled in the Burger area and noticed right away the price discrepancies. Deluxe burgers (with fries) typically cost $2 more than regular (without). Except the pizza burger costs $3 more and the cheddar chili burger costs $1 more. Dear Little Diner: Fix that. Make the fries $2 and call it a day. Once I discovered my ladyfriend was ordering a dish that automatically came with fries even though she didn't want them, I decided I would just order a regular. Bacon & Bleu Cheeseburger, add avocado. I love those flavors, but here's another problem in the menu. It says: (1/2 Ib. Burger) Made from 100% Pure, Fresh Beef Served w/ Cole Slaw, Pickles, Lettuce & Tomato Deluxe Served w/ French Fries. Add Avocado 1.99 And then under the list of burgers: Burger Add-Ons Bacon, Avocado or Sautéed Mushrooms $2.99 Extra So which would it be? I asked and the waitress said $1.99, so I went for it. Turns out that, as I rather suspected, the avocado was billed at $2.99. Maybe - MAYBE - it's $1.99 if you order it with the fries, but why only the avocado? I brought this up and they agreed to cut the $1 off my bill since the menu indeed has this ambiguity. They were very nice about it, so just maybe that was put back into their tip. (: So, dear Little Diner: Also fix that. Just delete the little Avocado bit at the beginning. Ambiance: Nice breakfast place. Service: Very friendly and accommodating. Food: Worth coming back for. The only drawback is inconsistent menu pricing... so just ask if anything is unclear. I'll have to come back with a breakfast hankering next time and try that side of the menu.

Ease of parking - I mean, the parking lot was jam packed here, but somehow we all found spots and somehow there was no wait for a table for 8! So this place is built to serve a large crowd. And like any NJ-esque diner (I mean, it's across the river but only a few minutes out), you have 12 pages of menu to choose anything you want. None of it's going to be gourmet, but some solid selections to be found. Things that stood out: * Regular fries look hand cut. No need to upgrade. * Standard meats, sides, sauces on hand. * Friendly staff, service wasn't amazing but nothing bad. Kept my water filled but I didn't get ~quite~ as many lemons as I might have hoped. My food came out a couple minutes after everyone else's. I figured chicken chicharrones was something different than the usual pork - meat instead of fat, for one! But it turned out to be relatively bland, without the salt and spices that I like. So even though the menu tends toward Latin American cuisine as its speciality, I would stick with the American food if I were you. Not a bad place overall, four stars may be a bit generous but they did OK with our large group and were happy to go with separate checks at the end, so I will round it on up.
