Went here with my wife for a weekday lunch. First time visiting. As is my standard practice, if a restaurant offers a Ruben sandwich, I must order it. I got a Ruben and my wife got a Cowboy burger. The ruben was excellent. As you might imagine, I have tried a few. The bread was crispy grilled on the outside without sogginess. There was a just right amount of sauerkraut, and the corned beef was thick sliced and delicious. They brought the russian dressing out separately so I could get as much as I wanted. I would say its within the top 3 rubens I have had. My wife's cowboy burger was massive and done just right. They had some really tasty looking deserts, but we were too full to try one. Good diner. Was passing through the area and actually looking for a diner and came upon this place at the right time. There was a choice of tables or the booth (I took the booth). The menu is deep, but mostly standard diner. It was the morning, so I just went with breakfast. Ordered the 'Hungry Man's Breakfast' with added home fries and toast (yes, I was very hungry). Also got their freshly squeezed orange juice. The food was good and I had zero complaints. The hostess and the waiter were both very friendly. The waiter was also very attentive and came around several times to make sure all was good or if we needed anything. Inside is small, but spacious enough. This place shares the land with several other businesses and the lot is small, but I found a space just fine. The only complaint is that the lot could use a paving (not this place's fault). I met up with several (as per the photos) of my friends for dinner, and they chose to stay out of downtown Nyack. Ease of parking - I mean, the parking lot was jam packed here, but somehow we all found spots and somehow there was no wait for a table for 8! So this place is built to serve a large crowd. And like any NJ-esque diner (I mean, it's across the river but only a few minutes out), you have 12 pages of menu to choose anything you want. None of it's going to be gourmet, but some solid selections to be found. Things that stood out: * Regular fries look hand cut. No need to upgrade. * Standard meats, sides, sauces on hand. * Friendly staff, service wasn't amazing but nothing bad. Kept my water filled but I didn't get ~quite~ as many lemons as I might have hoped. My food came out a couple minutes after everyone else's. I figured chicken chicharrones was something different than the usual pork - meat instead of fat, for one! But it turned out to be relatively bland, without the salt and spices that I like. So even though the menu tends toward Latin American cuisine as its speciality, I would stick with the American food if I were you. Not a bad place overall, four stars may be a bit generous but they did OK with our large group and were happy to go with separate checks at the end, so I will round it on up. read more

We were looking for a moderate cost hotel halfway between Washington DC and Boston, and chose Nyack, NY. We found this diner in our search for a reasonable restaurant with a good menu and value. We walked into this restaurant among an odd-group of other store fronts and were immediately impressed with its cleanliness, the menu, and its staff. This is a small family business, where all members are taking a personal interest in offering good service and meal. Though the selection included a broad selection of Hispanic choices, it was equally inclusive of all-American choices. I liked the selection a lot. I liked everything about this place, from each server, to the menu, the prices, the cleanliness, and the overall pride this family seems to take in their business. A lot of the choices I reviewed before coming to Nyack, I found prices high and mostly "cocktail-based." Regular normal people, some seniors, but a mixture of people seem to gravitate to this good restaurant. I recommend this to visitors and locals. read more

We've been dining here since it was Hogan's diner, but what I love is the new owners have added delicious items to the menu, besides the traditional diner foods such as burgers, fries, chicken fingers etc. another win is that they stay open later, so you can enjoy their delicious food, not only for breakfast & lunch! They also have happy hour for reasonable prices, if you'd like to have a cocktail! I've had their amazing mushroom burger, I've had the delicious chicken pesto panini, tuna melt, their salads & breakfasts & I haven't come across something I didn't like...best of all is their scrumptious carrot cake! (in my humble opinion). The friendly service, good coffee & yummy food makes me keep coming back for more! This one's a keeper! read more

Stayed at Nyack motel next door overnight. One night. First day I had lunch and dinner at the diner. Food ok nothing to rave about but was convenient and was ok. Next morning went in for breakfast. I am handicapped, senior, walk with cane cannot stand long and need a table. I asked for a table. There were 2 empty. Both long seemed to be 2 small tables put together. I guess they wanted to save for a larger party. They could have separated 2 of the smaller tables a bit. There was no one coming in behind me. There was no where in front to sit and wait either. They refused to give me a table. I left went to another diner The Little Diner. Good food. I called the Nyack Diner asked to speak with manager. The owner was there but busy. I called back second time he got on. He cut me off in mid sentence and said I was watching. You should have waited. Nah ah. Never again. Such uncaring and disrespectful service. Ugh. read more

The Spanish lady with the short cuts is very racist and only can speak Spanish unable to understand English properly .. she holds the customer accountable when it's her that needs to know the menu. Went for breakfast. Service was really good and coffee was decent. Underwhelmed by the food. Everything was edible and tasted ok but was kind of bland. I added salt and pepper to everything and I rarely salt and pepper my food. No onion flavor in anything that should have had onions (my omelette, the home fries). I really want to like this place, as it is local and I love diner-type food...the variety, etc. I've been here many times because the food can be really tasty and the prices are fairly reasonable. But more often than not, they find a way to disappoint me and ruin my meal. Last night, I ordered the chicken francaise, which I have enjoyed in the past. It comes with a nice salad and garlic bread, both of which were fine. The main plate followed, and while the mashed potatoes and veggies were hot and tasy, the chicken dish had what seemed to be no more than a tablespoon of francaise sauce...and the chicken was lukewarm at best. It had to have been sitting there in the kitchen for at least 10 minutes. There is no excuse to serve cold food in a diner. It just speaks volumes to a lack of effort or competency in the kitchen. It went back and they warmed it up, put on some more hot francaise sauce, but by then I was just so disappointed. It pretty much ruined what should have been a pleasant dining experience. And let me add that their portions are not diner-like. They are often really quite skimpy. read more

Found this diner by accident on a trip from Massachusetts to a wedding in philadelphia. I was a little familiar with the area, and when I saw the diner sign I said let me go take a chance.. we were just looking for a rest area break. Very glad we stopped here. The food was awesome, the service was awesome, the prices are great, the portions were great... All the help and everybody was very friendly and everything was done in a timely matter. We may even stop back here on our way back home to Massachusetts after the wedding we're going to in philadelphia. Pretty standard diner. Service is friendly. Prices are good. I judge diners by their home fries and these are only ok. They could use a little more seasoning. We got there around 2 o'clock in the afternoon and it was quiet and I ordered a bacon egg and cheese on a bagel with steak fries and he ordered a grilled chicken wrap and both were delicious and fresh. My steak fries were perfectly cooked and hot and crisp and tender inside. A good diner I stopped in this morning for breakfast, the bright restaurant a welcome change from the damp and dreary morning. The server was otherwise occupied but indicated I could sit anywhere. They have booths and tables, and a lunch counter. I settled in and had coffee within a few minutes. The menu was pretty large, with many omelette choices, but I went for their Corned Beef Hash & Eggs. I have only been to Hogan's a couple of times, but it is a dish I often get elsewhere when I'm out for breakfast. It took about 10 minutes. The hash was from a can. I'm ok with canned hash but it does not stand up well against well-prepared homemade hash. I'm afraid the side of potatoes also were also just ok, dry and nothing special. I may have run across a couple of small pieces of onions, but I would still have to describe them as just dry potatoes without any effort to improve them with how they are cooked or with seasoning. Service was fine, the only negative was my coffee sat empty for a few minutes. Other than that, we had pleasant interactions and I got my bill in advance of finishing my food. I always like that when I'm out by myself so when I'm done, I'm good to go. You pay at the register. I thought it was a good diner, and maybe I just didn't pick the best dish offered. read more

Me and my friends came to Nyack Diner to have dinner. Food was good and everything was fine until the bill came. We noticed that there was an extra $10 charge added to our bill. When we asked the women at the counter repeatedly what the charge was, she couldn't tell us what it was and eventually got our waiter. The waiter came and taped on their computer for about five minutes. We asked him what it was and he just kept saying "It is not the tip." His final excuse was that the computer charged us the extra money. We asked to be refunded the money and they said they couldn't. We eventually got the money back in cash. We had an early morning business appointment in Rockland County and heading home decided to stop for breakfast. So my first good decision for the day was checking Yelp for a good breakfast place. Hogans was at the top of the list so why not. Although it says Hogan's Diner, it's actually a store front in a strip mall. Interesting their business hours are 6:00 AM - 3:00 PM. So obviously they cater to breakfast and lunch only. Place is very clean and has a fresh look. First thing I noticed was that most patrons were people heading out to work and many seemed like regulars. Good sign. So my business partner had the egg Special with bacon and I had the omelette special, asparagus, tomatoes, and jack cheese. Fabulous. Came with home fries, juice and coffee. $9.95. Can't beat that. One small issue. When the bill came we were charged for coffee, but once I pointed it out to the server it was corrected immediately. I'm going to give him a pass on this because I believe it was an honest mistake. When I'm back in the area you'll find me eating here for breakfast at least and would like to try lunch too.
