Came to this place with my mom for the first time and honestly did not disappoint. The prices were very reasonable and the portions were enough to make me and my mom full. The food looked great and tasted great. Karaage (it was suuuuper juicy), shrimp tempura, and takoyaki were very crispy. The pork katsu was very crispy as well. My mom ordered the tonkatsu shoyu (I sadly didn't get a pic ) and it was wonderful. Service was great. Before we left, I asked for a cup to fill up my soda to go, and I honestly just wanted to finish my soda that I had left. This is actually very good ramen given there's not a large Japanese / Asian community here (save for the Azusa Pacific and Citrus College students). The broth is authentic, as with the chashu pork and veggies. The spice level "2" was all I needed (the level "4" ramen frightens me). The noodles are good, a nice chew. I haven't tried all of their sides, the gyoza I had was also quite good, with a nice burst of flavor. I had a colleague who tried the poke, she reported her satisfaction. At first hearing about this place I was super excited that I would finally get to meet my favorite anime hero Naruto. Unbeknownst to me, Naruto was not here I was just the name of a fishy thing. The broth is my favorite part I got the level five spicy which isn't spicy at all, but really great flavor and rich. The Pork chashu Was a little more tough and chewy than I would like, I like when the chashu is super soft and rips off really easy. The soft boiled eggs were delicious the yolks still a little runny not well done. Overall experience was pleasant. I didn't wait long to be seated. Tuesday July 23rd 1pm it feels like 100 degree Cali weather. Parking close to this place will be difficult, so stretch your legs cause you gonna walk a few more paces than you really would like to. Right in the plaza with Mariecalendars and Stater Bro's is at. Daikokuya, Shinsengumi and Orochon Ramen spoiled me so I wouldn't say this is the best spot to get ramen but I really like the name! Also like the decor and how they play the anime series Naruto in their televisions! Just brings back my childhood haha oh! And the ramen presentation kinda reminds me of the Naruto manga! The out door seating/mini patio area has 8 chairs, 7 small tables and has a heater for cold days. Looks pretty comfortable. Expect to pay around $20 dollars if you gonna order appetizers, ramen and dessert. Once you enter, most likely the server will seat you quickly with the menu and drink order. They have two VEGAN ramen options. The appetizers aren't the healthiest options but that is what makes them sooo good! No alcohol but they do serve a Japanese non-alcoholic beverage called Calpico and and and RAMUNE! Just ask about these drinks and the servers will explain. The Mochi ice cream is always good here! Heads up: the ramen is pretty filling so unless you can enjoy a lot of food or are happy with bringing it home then I suggest not to order too much. This spot is not too big but it is not a compact can of sardines either. Honesty it feels almost spacious. Two little restrooms in the back(one men and one woman). Everything looks surprisingly organized and pretty clean here! The server's hospitality was GREAT(I mean patience with kindness plus funny jokes) and all my questions about the food were answered! Found this place after going to the LA county fair. It's hard to find since it's tucked away in a shopping center but it's worth it. Traditional style Japanese ramen and curry. Nothing fancy. Just basic good good. Appetizers were tasty. Gyoza was good. Nice crisp on the fried side and the wrapper wasn't too gummy. The pork inside was flavored great. Sauce on the side was just ok. A bit sweet. 4:/5 Potato croquette was amazing. Nicely golden fried with the tonkatsu sauce on top. 5/5 Chicken jarabe was also good. The dipping sauce that it came with was just ok. Some kind of mustard spicy mayor sauce also. But the batter on the chicken was fabulous. 4/5 Had a variety of the Ramen's. I tried the No 61 which is a chicken base with chicken. Broth was good. Could have used a tad bit more seasoning for my tastes. And everything is extra. However, I've tried the ramen w chicken (tori) base, and it was bombbb! CURRY RICE Usually, I get curry rice here - it's kind of like comfort food from Japan for me. A plate of steaming curry rice makes me feel nostalgic for all my photo trips to Japan over the years. It's good, and the rice is neatly shaped into a football, and you can choose different types of meat. KARAAGE vs CHICKEN KATSU I prefer the fried chicken (karaage aka fried chicken thighs) instead of the chicken katsu (breast cutlet) because it's juicier. Up to you. I met a lady who I think might be the owner? She said she's from Okinawa... she was pretty nice to us. The service is always better when she's around. CROQUETTE If you haven't tried it yet, order a croquette aka corokke. It's like a deep fried mashed potato (or a Japanese knish if you're from NY), and it's drizzled with Japanese "Bulldog sauce" (relaaaaax people, it's not actually made from dog. sheesh.) Pretty good ramen/curry spot in Covina! Came here with my bro and his family, who live in Covina. They had tried coming here before but its always been packed. We luckily came around 3pm and got a table for 8 pretty quickly. The place is a bit small and is decorated with Naruto Japanese Anime. We ordered our food - I got a spicy level 5 tonkatsu ramen and so did my sister in law. My bro got the black ramen, and they ordered katsu curry and karage chicken for the kiddos. My ramen had a nice kick and was really flavorful. I was curious see what the "wheat" ramen tasted like, but didn't want to fully commit to a whole bowl in case I didn't like it, so I got an extra side of noodles. It was just thinner and I honestly couldn't really tell much of a difference between that and the egg noodles. The kiddos liked it and ate some with their katsu and karage chicken. We came around their opening time and had to wait 20 minutes before they opened the doors. They let some people in earlier to order before they changed their signs so this was a bit confusing for people who were waiting outside/half standing at the door. I have been here in the past a couple of years ago, and my impression of the food has remained the same. The soup's consistency is very thick, heavy, and rich and the noodles are a bit thicker too. We got the: 1) Spicy tonkotsu miso ramen (level 3) -not very spicy at all 2) Tonkotsu shiro ramen -the noodles were slightly less thick than the miso ramen All in all, it was a mediocre experience, not bad, not outstanding. I'm not much of a spicy food lover so their R4 is my typical choice. The broth is really thick and rich it adds so much flavor to the vegitables and egg noodle. When I'm feeling tired this ramen soup gives me the boost I need. It makes for a satisfying lunch or dinner! Recently , due to modifications to normal operations caused by covid , I've just been calling ahead to pick up my order. Sometimes the call doesn't go through, they must be busy with other callers. Just try calling again, if not set your order in person. It should take like fifteen minutes or so depending on how busy they are. I've never had to wait super long. The noodles and broth are separated into two to-go containers so that the noodles don't get soggy and ruined. When sealed the broth manages to stay hot for a while, so you can still enjoy the soup hot when you arrive home with the takeout! read more
