Veggie Ramen ... just the broth
    Ariel L.

I like this place! I don't what's wrong about the other folks but this is only my second time here and the food is consistently good! My service was also great, maybe because I got the same fast and happy server (Miko). Kirin beer is always a good pairing with any ramen and especially for this place. Do try their featured or seasonal ramen and you won't be disappointed. It is table sharing so for small parties, no issues of getting a seat ... I'm a party of one and always get seated quite fast. Big groups will be harder as it is a first come first serve. Side dishes are also good and an extra tamago (boiled egg) is always a good add for more protein! Truly worth a try after church, for a late night eat, or if you're just up for some great ramen!

Ramen is one of my go-to comfort foods. I've eaten at a few ramen places here in Manila. So, when Ramen Nagi opened in Manila, I had to try it! In Ramen Nagi, it's all about the soup. They have 4 soups: Original King (Butao), Red King (Akao, Spicy soup), Green King (Midorio, "Pesto" soup) and Black King (Kuroo, Garlic and Squid ink soup). The night I ate here, I was with friends. So, we were able to order a bowl each. Ramen price is Php410 (8.77USD) for all 3 except the Original King which is Php390 (8.34USD). Like ramen houses in Japan, you can customize how you want your noodles (richness, spiciness and even how hard or soft you want your noodles). If it's your first time, best to ask for the Chef's Recommendation. Now, let's talk about the soups. The Original King is rich and is not too fatty/oily. But, honestly, I have tried better soup at other ramen houses. The Green King was surprisingly good. It was like eating "Pasta Ramen". I like that they added Parmesan cheese to compliment the pesto. The Red King was not as spicy as I expected. But, you have to mix it well because of the red ball of seasonings they put on top of the ramen (lesson learned.). Lastly, the Black King, which was my order, was the strangest among the 4 soups. At first, I liked the flavor and how thick the soup was. But, as I ate more of the soup, I found myself struggling to finish my ramen. I think the thickness of the squid ink got to me. Don't get me wrong, it's a very good soup base, I guess it just wasn't for me. :( Overall, I liked that the service is fast and that their ramen soups are tasty. They also offer special limited ramens like Truffle King or Curry King. :)

Cheerful vibe from the red interiors, loud welcome remarks and weird pipe in music. Enjoyed my first Ramen Nagi visit and my bowl of Black King. Waiter usually gives a paper bib. Wear it and don't think twice not to! Nice to compare with your seat mates who eats the messiest. The squid ink gives that umami flavor and fried garlic makes it intense. Very unorthodox but so good! Others find it too fishy but it works for me. Thought to get the richness less than average and found it still too much. Add a bit of fresh crushed garlic to cut the cloying factor. Order your noodles extra hard or hard so they don't get soggy at the end.

Out of all the ramen joints that I've tried, I consider this as one of my favorites. The long waiting line kind of gives the impression that they serve really good food and indeed, they do. So when my friends and I passed by the place and the line was noticeably short, we grabbed the chance. Being the adventurous foodie that I am, I tried one of the chef's recommendations:Red King. Judging by the photo on the menu, I knew it's going to be a spicy treat. I was right. Good thing its level of spiciness was on point. It didn't pretend to be spicy nor did it scrape my tongue with strong spices and sauces, The meatball and the noodles were both really flavorful as well. With all the other interesting items on the menu, and a memorable first experience, I will definitely go back to this place over and over and over.

Ramen Nagi gets a golden star for its many quirks that add up to being a good time bound to be had. As you enter the place, the banners, logos, and menus scream bold red against the neutral and peaceful wooden walls and tables. The whole inside is jampacked with energy, especially with the funny, enthusiastic waiters and chefs who welcome you and have occasional bursts of pump-up cheers. I'm a huge fan of how you get to customise your order to how you want it. I keep the spice somewhere below 3, hard noodles, and order shoulder instead of belly because the broths tend to be rich on their own. On that note, I suggest keeping the richness, special sauce and garlic as normal or light because when they say rich, they mean it. Though I commend Ramen Nagi for its initiative in bringing the authentic Japanese ramen experience to the Philippines, a detracting factor would be their seating style and how they push for us to sit next to or close to strangers. I'm fine with it but usually my family would rather wait for a whole table to open up before sitting down. I'm guessing the close proximity is simply a value that doesn't really sail in the FIlipino restaurant culture.

It's so weird that we cannot take home our leftovers. I would understand if we are in a buffet setting.

Mentally bookmarked it and came back another day during off hours (3 pm) - the waiting benches outside were empty. The decor inside is impressive - a huge display of ramen spoons crown the central open kitchen where Chashu is being grilled and bowls of soup noodles are assembled. The order is taken at the register at the front before you are seated. Once seated at the bar, a chef and waiter on either side of the bar are there to help you out. I ordered a delicious Tsukemen, whose broth options were different had I ordered a regular bowl of soup ramen. The tsukemen broths appear to be more seafood forward and worth coming back to try them all. I do recommend getting extra chashu no matter what your order is. For just 315 PHP you get 3 extra pieces of smoky goodness, an outstanding piece of meat that I've never seen at any other ramen joint. Definitely a must-come-back to on my next Manila visit

The location in BGC was quite large with the bar like seating winding all around the kitchen area. Hundreds of soup spoons hung above. Ordering process was the same with the menu posted at the front. Three types of ramen (regular, dipping and soupless) plus side dishes like gyoza and extra char siu. Service was fast at the front and kitchen staff regularly shouted greetings in Japanese when getting seated. Food took a little long to be served as I watched one guy prepping, making the ramen and char siu. Seemed like they were a little understaffed that day. I had ordered my favorite tan tan men with a side of char siu. The broth was creamy and mildly spicy. Ramen was thick and chewy. Char siu was thick, juicy and added more flavors to my tan tan men. Their char siu was quite a generous serving of pork for the price. Beats many other ramen places. Gyozas here were also good. Crisp on the outside and good amount of filling inside. They offered two sizes, 3 or 5 pieces. Besides the slow service this chain still remains my favorite here in Philippines.

It doesn't have the international recognition of Ippudo or Santouka or the creativity of Nagi, but the ramen here feels as though someone is treating you for a nice dinner at home. There are only three flavors available of the ramen, the shiro (classic), kuro (garlic), and aka (spicy). I've had both the kuro and aka, and I can say that they are extremely satisfying. Neither the garlic nor the spice was too overpowering. The broth was also extremely well-balanced. Not too fatty but still smooth enough to make you want to slurp the bowl once you've finished. The pork cuts weren't as tender as I've had at other places, but still very well done. The tamago was also well done. Love the runniness! But what puts this place over the edge into 5-star territory is the price. You can get a super filling bowl of ramen here for only 230 pesos! And that's for the larger size! I wager that's basically half of what you'd pay at the more upscale mall places for nearly the same quality. I was also able to try one of their sets featuring a bowl of ramen of your choosing, their gyudon rice don on the side and a bowl of fresh fruits for only 360 pesos. I was stuffed after. So so worth it. The gyoza was also really well made, and a steal for only 100 pesos. The staff here is always super attentive and accommodating, even when we've come in with a larger group, and they do accept all major credit cards, which is a huge plus for me. Definitely worth a try. I don't have to venture out to the more upscale parts of the Metro to enjoy a well-curated bowl of ramen anymore!

My dad's relatives are somewhat aware, so they suggested we go here for lunch. I was bummed because of the lack of local eateries we've been to so far (which will be a recurring pattern for the rest of our time here). And Ippudo already has locations back in the States. But I was still interested in going since I didn't get the opportunity to go during my Japan trip last year. You will find the restaurant on the second floor of Greenbelt 5, a shopping mall in Makati. Next to Chili's, which I'm sure is a familiar name for everyone. There was a bit of a wait since it was busy. Seating was tight because our part of six was smushed into a booth that should probably only accommodate four. A bowl of ramen is about $8-12 USD, on the higher end locally (the average office worker in Manila makes less than $10 an hour). I tried their limited edition (available until April 30) Yakiniku Ramen. The pork bone broth was lukewarm, but the consistency of the Hakata style noodles were great and the soft boiled egg was perfect. The thin slices of pork went well with the teriyaki and spice miso sauce. Philippines 2024 collection: https://www.yelp.com/collection/DHwKzvo7o_ll8jmXFFU3KA/PHIL-2024
