    beef ishiyaki rice

Ippudo is a Japanese restaurant that has numerous awards for their famous Ramen. I've been to their Berekley, California location, but it has such a LONG wait time there. I think I waited over 3 hours during their opening week. However, this location at the Power Plant Mall in Makati had no wait at all. I ordered their famous pork bun, beef ishiyaki rice, and a mango shake. I absolutely loved everything I ate here! I highly recommend eating here for authentic Japanese recipies!

Pork and chicken bun from the food expo

First time in here and how I wish they have one in LA (or maybe they do?). I ordered Akamaru Tamago and I wished I ordered the Shinaji to make it a full experience. But either way, I really enjoyed my food! The broth was perfect. Not too oily and definitely not bland. I was happy coz it doesn't taste like instant ramen. You can choose from different firmness of the noodles which made it better coz I like my noodles a little hard. The pork belly melts in your mouth and the egg was perfect. When I was eating it, I felt like im in Japan lol. Two days before we went to their restaurant, I tried their pork belly and chicken bun on a food expo. The buns was sooooooooooo awwesome! The flavor was bursting in my mouth and the meats were really tender and full of flavor. For dessert, we got the green tea creme brulee. The creme brulee was perfect! As a green tea/matcha lover, this is heaven for me!!! Also it is topped off with vanilla ice cream and some matcha powder on top! I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a delicious ramen around Mandaluyong. I will definitely come back to try more in their menu. Hopefully they open a branch in LA soon coz I can't wait two years to go back to the Philippines and try this ramen again!

Been to Japan many times but, my family wanted to take me to this restaurant in Manila. My daughter has talked about this place for years now and I finally got to try it. I am so glad I did because the flavors were all on point. If you can't go Japan for some ramen make sure to visit this restaurant.

I've been coming here since Sept 2014. It's taken me over 2 years to write a review. Their ramen is so consistent that it was as magical since that opening week. I really am declaring theirs the best ramen of central/north Metro Manila (Akamaru Special). Order your noodles Hard so that it doesn't get to soft on its way to your table + food porn photo taking. Be sure to not miss their Tamago. That, and you may order their house tea (mugicha). Hot when it's rainy; cold when it's hot AF outside haha They tack on a service charge but they don't slouch on it. The manager on duty or their assistants go around asking how the food is, if you need anything, etc. On point. Other than that, nice to know would be the following: * Free WiFi by Megamall * Only one restroom/toilet at the back * Avoid rush time Slurp well!

    Fried chicken (karaage) bun (₱100)

My first experience eating ramen that wasn't microwaveable with dried veggies floating on top was Ippudo in New York City. Since then, I've used Ippudo's quality to gauge any other ramen place I've come across. After eating at a fair share of the ramen shops in the Metro, I must say that Ippudo still reigns supreme in my book. I'm a very middle of the road kind of guy when it comes to ramen. I don't like a broth too clear because I'm a sucker for umami but I don't like a broth too dense either (like Nagi's, especially with their DIY ramens) since an umay factor starts playing in. Ippudo definitely has that perfect balance. Their noodles are great here. Not too thin, not thick and you can get them at your desired hardness. Just know that their hard is a bit softer than most other places in the metro. Ramen in itself is already a hearty meal in itself but you must try their buns!! The pork bun has a very special place in my heart, with spicy mayo and the pork so, so tender it almost melts in your mouth. The fluffy bao completes the experience. It's a little expensive at ₱100 for one but it's cheaper than New York and worth every peso. I also tried the fried chicken bun. Same concept, different meat. Their kaarage is done pretty well, it's just that it seemed a bit on the salty side for me. It was still good though! Love this place. Lines do form regularly outside but they are so quick with service it kind of balances out. Service here is definitely great as well.

I can't remember anything particularly remarkable about their ramen. I found the broth/ soup too salty for my liking and couldn't bring myself to finish my ramen. I should try other dishes and maybe write another review. Also, their tables are not great for big groups.

I stumbled across this place while we were walking across the mall. I recognized this place because I've dined at the Japan and Hong Kong locations, and the New York location is always packed (lines out the door). I was excited to see that there was no line yet but perhaps it is because we came before dinner time. We ordered 2 different ramen bowls and the pork belly bun! Everything we had was super tasty! The ramen bowls were huge and could be shared between two people. Total cost spent =$26 USD, which is a little on the high side considering we only ordered 2 bowls. $13 USD per bowl seems to be on the high end, especially in the Philippines. If you're sharing, then it doesn't seem as bad. Either way, I enjoyed the food, service, and I am a fan of the place. I would certainly dine here again and again.

    Limited Edition Tantanmen
    Cezar R.

Out of all the ramen flavors that I love, Tantanmen is definitely in the top 3. When I found out that Ippudo now serves this, I made it a point to have dinner here after work. After all, this spicy bowl is only available for a limited time. Let me just say that Ippudo's spicy broth is the best that I have tasted. The spice is full of flavor and not offensive. It's also very creamy. The chasu is also the best that I have tasted. Torched to perfection. That slice of pork melts off the chopsticks Unfortunately, there is one thing that didn't work. Ippudo opted to use their wavy noodles. After trying it out on their Clam Chowder ramen, I swore never to try it again. It's not great for slurping and the texture is too squishy. So here I was begging the servers to just use the ordinary straight noodles. I think I begged 3 times. They explained that this is not possible. So I just requested to make the noodles hard because medium is too soft for me. After begging, still not a possibility according to the servers. At the end, I accepted the fact that I'll be paying Php 530 for a bowl that I wasn't really happy about. I'm the type of person that loves ramen noodles more than the ramen broth. The servers were happy because they won this time. They mentioned though that they will just explain to management to allow changing the noodle type next time for Tantanmen. Who would have thought that changing noodles is now a management decision.. Would I recommend their tantanmen? Of course. Without a doubt people should try it. Was I happy? That's a different question.

    Pork Bun. YUM!
    Gabby A.

I don't like ramen...soup and noodles just isn't my thing. BUT I will go here and eat with my friends. What I love here is the Ippudo pork bun. I usually get 2 but I am sure I could eat 3. The meat is soft and cooked perfectly whenever I have ordered this. I am such a fan. I have also ordered the Tori Karaage. It comes with a lot of pieces and a type of "tartar" sauce that goes well with it. Also includes a small side salad. I'm glad I gave this place a chance. Just because it serves ramen doesn't mean its the only dish that can be good. They have perfected the pork bun (also available in chicken) and I am glad I have tried it. I keep going back whenever I am at Megamall. Even my mother is a fan of the ramen and pork bun...and she is super picky. Even if you don't like ramen or if you do just don't forget to order at least one pork bun. Don't deprive yourself of good food! :)

This is the first time I've had Ippudo...so I can't compare it to the one in New York. The broth was very flavorful and the Chashu was very tender and melts in your mouth. Don't get me started on the egg. I ordered the Karaka-men which is a little bit spicier. Added extra garlic and sesame seed. Was the first to finish in my table of 8!

Since the Ramen thing became a hit in the Philippines, I wasn't really eager to try one because I've tried other ramen offerings of Japanese restaurants here until I had a meeting in SM Megamall. My colleague kept on raving about the reviews she have seen about Ippudo and how lines here get so crazy during peak hours so we eagerly entered the restaurant (lucky first timers didn't get to experience waiting) though the number of chairs outside will tell that there is indeed a long line every now and then. I ordered the Shiromaru Tamago (P405) and she ordered Akamaru Tamago (P420). We also ordered Ippudo Hakata Style Gyoza (P195) and Ippudo pork bun (P100) The first word that came out of my mouth was, "Wow" followed with "Ang sarap!" (With strong feelings) I wanted to take a bath on the ramen's broth. (Seriously) After that day, I raved our ramen experience to other friends and invited them to try it. We tasted each other's ramen and both are exceptional! From that day, Ippudo became my Ramen standard. Tip: Come in early or in the afternoon before dinnertime since the lines get really long outside.

GomaQ! It's delicious cucumbers with sesame seed and oil... and some spices... its so simple but so good.

I'm very picky with my ramen. I really like ramen with clear broth, firm noodles and a soft boiled tamago. I haven't really subscribed to the rich broths of Yushoken and the DIY ways of Nagi. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate them-- I'm just not a big fan. Ippudo has been in the Ramen scene for quite a while, and I've never really tried it cause it's all the way up north, and there's always -- always-- a line to it. But somehow I find myself roped into waiting in line with my family, inching over the front of the line seat by seat. (They've also got a ridiculous rule about not letting you enter unless your group is complete... though it is understandable. Or maybe I was just impatient...) I found their ramen... normal. Nothing special-- very similar with Nagi, actually, but I like their noodles here. The pork bun's pork is thin. The gyoza looks like it could use more filling. The unagi rice needs more flavor. Not a disappointing experience, but nothing special that would warrant that long a line. (And the nearly two hour drive to get to Megamall.)

It feels good to be back. We ordered the shiromaru and the torched salmon. It's superb!!!! They have an excellent food service. We will definitely come back.

It doesn't have the international recognition of Ippudo or Santouka or the creativity of Nagi, but the ramen here feels as though someone is treating you for a nice dinner at home. There are only three flavors available of the ramen, the shiro (classic), kuro (garlic), and aka (spicy). I've had both the kuro and aka, and I can say that they are extremely satisfying. Neither the garlic nor the spice was too overpowering. The broth was also extremely well-balanced. Not too fatty but still smooth enough to make you want to slurp the bowl once you've finished. The pork cuts weren't as tender as I've had at other places, but still very well done. The tamago was also well done. Love the runniness! But what puts this place over the edge into 5-star territory is the price. You can get a super filling bowl of ramen here for only 230 pesos! And that's for the larger size! I wager that's basically half of what you'd pay at the more upscale mall places for nearly the same quality. I was also able to try one of their sets featuring a bowl of ramen of your choosing, their gyudon rice don on the side and a bowl of fresh fruits for only 360 pesos. I was stuffed after. So so worth it. The gyoza was also really well made, and a steal for only 100 pesos. The staff here is always super attentive and accommodating, even when we've come in with a larger group, and they do accept all major credit cards, which is a huge plus for me. Definitely worth a try. I don't have to venture out to the more upscale parts of the Metro to enjoy a well-curated bowl of ramen anymore!

First sip was good enough, second sip was even better. Hey, this is definitely growing on me. I was also happy to find out that there are bigger and more pieces of meat at Ikkoryu compared to my favorite ramen joint that charges an extra P100 for an additional thin piece of meat.
