Zero customer service score! They're doing your favor that they let you pay. There is nobody who can take your order only by automated machine, and if it doesn't work, "the lady" he's doing you a favor to come and "help you"

Our little boutique Ralphs. At the corner of Magnolia Blvd & Coldwater Canyon, behind the 76 gas station resides this local market, with great staff, streamline layout and plenty on the shelves and behind the cold doors. There's self checkout on the east side of store, the closest to Coldwater Canyon. And a handful of registers, a lot of which are open throughout the day. Good produce and a fair amount of things you need. Manager and staff are super friendly. The parking lot is surprisingly spacious and easier to navigate than larger locations, something I've come to appreciate a lot. Often find myself at this one to grab a few essentials and/or stock up on items before or after a big event like a Celebration of Life recently, birthday party, holiday or summer event. Great selection of craft, domestic and imported beer. Sometimes I can't find a few of the plant-based items I get at large Ralphs, but do find plenty and am grateful for the manager specials, sales and discounts.

1 1/2 read: Not too long ago, I used to work here, at this RALPHS, in the Deli Department. At that time, Pam was the Deli Manager and I asked her for a job, she interviewed me, and hired me. I don't work there anymore. But occasionally, I go in to say hello to my ex coworkers. Yesterday (07/09/24) I went in to get a couple of items. I didn't see anyone I knew. However, RALPHS is always fully stocked. I found what I came to get and took off. There's plenty of parking. The neighborhood is nice. I like shopping at RALPHS.

They did have pretty flowers and arrangements at affordable prices!

Kroger brand is always the best bargain because it's the parent company of Ralphs. With everything in my digital shopping cart, I checkout and order pickup for free the next day. An employee at this Ralphs finds everything for me and bags it up. They bring it to designated parking spots on the lower level. I very much appreciate this personal shopping service. In the app, make sure to select this Ralphs location for the greatest selection, as it is one of the best in Sherman Oaks. Your shopping Items are kept in a special refrigerated section, so it stays fresh until you arrive to pickup (according to the employee who brought me my groceries last time). But don't worry, I could go pick them up at some random time tomorrow (I work an office job, that doesn't work for me) so instead of guessing when I might get groceries, I contacted customer service to help me cancel. Well only the store can cancel the order, so I got to waste 45 minutes with them only to have to go in and deal with this myself. Why have a customer service line if they literally can't do anything?

This will be my shortest review to date, but this Ralphs location has become my favorite Ralphs in…read morethe Valley for many reasons, especially today. I called the Seafood Department to place an order for some fried fish. I had called last Friday around 7:30 p.m. to order fish, but it was too late. Anyway, Adrian (sorry if I misspelled your name, sir) answered the phone and was very polite and courteous while taking my order. Now, this is a "you buy, we fry" service inside a grocery store, so I wasn't quite sure if I could call in an order. But after my last visit, where I placed an order and walked around the store while the fish was frying, I honestly didn't see why they wouldn't allow it. I originally wanted catfish fillets, but they were out. Adrian offered catfish nuggets as a substitute, but I passed. I then asked for red snapper or rockfish, but they had neither. I moved on to cod, but at $19.99 a pound, I said, "Not today." Finally, he told me they had tilapia for $10.99 a pound, so I ordered two pounds. He asked what seasoning I wanted, and I told him I wanted to try all three -- Cajun, lemon pepper, and one other that I can't remember. He told me it would be ready in 12 minutes, and when I arrived 12 minutes later, it was ready! It was fresh, hot, and delicious. I could hardly wait to get back home and eat it all lol. I will definitely be back next weekend. Thanks again, Adrian. :-)

Cart management has been terrible. Just one example: after 10 extra minutes of my chasing a cart down, someone dumped my items on a table when I wasn't looking and ran off with my cart. I lost another 10 minutes finding a cart but did not have to re-shop for my now one-only pickings. Even more frustrating is that many carts are disabled because the strip that locks them activates five feet inside the parking ln some places. 2. Parking has gone from bad to worse as they designate many kinds of reserved spaces. 3. Shoplifting controls have rendered large areas of the store effectively unusable. Kroger is the most controlling grocer. I just wish they took us into account beyond figuring out to charge too much for average produce. I don't need 10 isles of beverages at the expense of other variety...their club scans are not noticing there are few people in those isles.

It has that calm, old school mom and pop market vibe that makes you want to stick around and browse. The women working there were very nice and super helpful. The sushi was wonderful. One tip though. Make sure you read the labels before grabbing your sushi. I accidentally picked up a few pieces made with brown rice, and personally I thought the ones made with white rice were much better. Definitely a spot I'd come back to.

What makes this store special is the selection -- you can find so many unique products that you won't see in other grocery chains, including a lot of European-style foods. Some of our favorites are eggplant spread, sauerkraut, frozen sweet cheese pancakes (blinchiki), pork dumplings, and many other great items. Prices are reasonable (around average), especially considering the quality and uniqueness of the products. Approached this one older man and asked him if he could make me a bowl of Poke, he said no, you have to do it yourself and as I was still talking, he kept walking away from me. I approached him and said"I am talking to you and you keep walking away from me". That is rude and unprofessional. He didn't even apologize. His name was Mario in the seafood department. Poke looked very fresh along with all the other toppings and ingredients. Just by looking at it, it was super OVERWHELMING! He had nothing else to do, because he had both of his hands behind his back and just walking around. If he wanted to to help me, then he would have. This was on the morning of 7/17/26 a little before 9AM. On the other hand, Tony, who worked the Sushi Bar, in the same seafood department, saw what happened and apologized on Mario's behalf. The fridge for Sushi and other ready made fish items was EMPTY. Tony asked me what is it that he can do/make for me? I replied Spicy Tuna roll. He even wanted to know how many pieces? I told him 8. Right away he went back into the kitchen and made me what I have requested. For 8 pieces was only (12.99). Not a bad price. Came back and handed me the Sushi. Got home and tasted the food and it was very fresh and delicious. Next aisle that I visited was their frozen section. Needed to buy few waffles. There were 2 guys, that absolutely refused to help me. Wouldn't even let me speak. So, I looked around and found the waffles that I was NOT looking for. I wanted the Belgian Waffles and didn't see any. Got the Vans brand Power Grain Protein waffles, and gluten free Original Waffles. So for 4 waffles together came out to be $18.89 with tax. Next disappointment was, went to check out and there was no one at the registers. Waited for like 5 minutes, until this woman came and turned the light on for register # 4. Couldn't catch her name. Store was in a very nice condition, very clean, and fully stocked. They have everything from A to Z. Nice music was playing overhead. They have a very nice, big, 2 sections of patio/outside seating and every now and then, if you are lucky, you may find some items from everywhere that is on sale! They also have an inside seating by the flower area, and all around. Free parking, Wells Fargo ATM machine, and 2 gender neutral restrooms. I practically covered everything and more. I used to go to Gelson's two or three times a week and stock up on food from their deli. They used to have a good selection in their hot deli section. Recently, you're lucky if there are 3-4 hot choices. And if you get there anytime after 1:00 pm or so, everything is completely dried out and stuck to the pans. I went today... wanted some sliced turkey from the carving station. No more full turkeys. Can't get dark meat or a drumstick. They only do the white meat breast. and it doesn't slice or taste the same as from a whole turkey. The salad bar has dropped in quality as well. No more black and green Olives. The hearts of palm are gooey... carrots are dried out. It is terrible. You can't even get a rubber band to hold the flimsy container closed!! They used to make really good Chicken tenders and fried chicken. They've changed the recipe on both and they are awful now. If you don't get them fresh out of the fryer, they are inedible. The produce is still high quality but not worth price. And other staples will simply bankrupt you. I've been to a couple of other Gelson's in the area and they all suffer the same drop in quality. It is a shame. I used to be willing to shell out extra $$ for a higher quality product. In the words of Inspector Clouseau... Not anymure!
