Have never had a problem with the employees at this store until today. Kathy, the self checkout monitor, was being very rude to me and my wife the entire time we were checking out. I'm not sure if it has to with my wife being brown or what, but it was extremely hostile and unnecessary. To top it off, she accused us of stealing bags and wouldn't let us leave before charging us 30 cents... way to stay vigilant Kathy!

    Shame on you Ralphs bakery!!!!

The baker at this bakery hates her job! She needs to quit or get fired! I ordered a special cake for my son's 20th birthday and every birthday is a special occasion for anyone and she completely ruined his cake. It looks like crap it looks like she took literally two seconds to write his name on it and this is not OK this is a celebration that we're gonna be taking pictures of and remembering forever because it's his 20th birthday and she just slapped it on there like she really didn't give a crap she needs to literally just get fired or just retire!!!!! Shame on you!!!!

Just so I remember how much cupcakes cost. :)

I don't get the low rating... - New products and flavors you won't find at Vons / Staters - There's always clearance items in the deli which is great for a lunch pick up - Presliced deli meat and cheese is super convenient in a pinch - Store is always clean - Insane amount of parking and it's in the same plaza as Tarje ;) - All 3 varieties of the Cadbury eggs! Their holiday candy selection is always outstanding. - Carts are bussed in a timely manner & never have trash Only gripe is to cut your coupons before you get there. Reception is spotty within the store.

I went to this Ralph's Grocery store yesterday, and I was impressed.I needed a particular item that I couldn't find, and a Ralph's employee asked if I needed help, and he helped me and showed me where the item was:) He was so friendly. The grocery store was very clean and organized, I also loved the produce here as well.

Round 2 layer marble cake, with fudge and fresh strawberries. Whipped cream icing

I have been buying my cakes and cupcakes for many years here and the bakery manager, Rachel, is always so sweet and detailed with her ideas. The cakes are affordable and you don't need much notice. My girls always love their cakes for their birthdays!

I come here looking for specific things like natural maple syrup and high quality flour. I tend to not get fruits and I tend to find more items here from small businesses than brand name spots, so I'll sporadically find things here to impulse buy. They also have lots of prepared self-service hot foods and a poke bar if you want a meal to go. My favorite thing here are their fresh baked chocolate chip cookies, priced at $3.75. They sell so many of them, that they're constantly putting out fresh batches. I've come in four times this year for it and it's been hot and fresh every time! I find that outstanding as I've been to stand alone bakeries with cookies that weren't as fresh as they are here. The cookie is massive and has high quality ingredients you can taste. It's as good of a chocolate cookie as you can find anywhere. Come get some, because if they keep up the high turnover, then I can keep eating them hot and fresh!

I'm sure everyone can recall the small mom & pop corner market where they grew up, how it held untold treasures behind cabinets, under shelves and in the coolers. Cold soda pop, NiHis, jaw-breakers, ice cream bars, it was all here. Remember asking your parents for a quarter and running off with your friends to that market? Ken, the proprietor, says he owns over fifty surfboards. And I believe him cuz I think a third of them are here. They hang from the ceiling, lean against walls or lie on the floor waiting for some attention. Mop-headed, blond-haired kids come in wearing nothing more than bathing suits covered in sand and dried saltwater to stare in wide wonder at the waves these boards must have seen in their day. 8x10" faded photographs of ancient surf stars sliding down monstrous waves cover holes in the walls. Bobble-heads, mostly baseball characters, stare down impassively and watch the show from on high between rows of collectible Coke cans and the flotsam and jetsam of a lifelong collector. This is Ken's world. Wife "Barbie" runs their day care center. Maintaining two businesses means the "Open" sign isn't hung regularly but, as summer approaches, you'll spot it more and more as you walk up from the beach looking for that cold brew and hot story of how that ceiling-slung "Trestles Special" once carved delicious tracks across a sparkling blue wave. Deep love indeed.

However, I had a cash back offer for a box of Mini Perfect Bars, but only at Trader Joe's. There are two Trader Joe's closer to me, and two other Trader Joe's nearby, but I chose this Trader Joe's at Long Beach Marketplace on the southeast corner of PCH and 2nd since I was in the area for a couple other reasons. Trader Joe's is the anchor store here, just on the other side of PCH from a competitor, Whole Foods Market. Both have their pros and cons with Whole Foods Market being more spacious in size with a wider selection of merchandise, but bigger doesn't necessarily mean better. Trader Joe's has more of a neighborly and cozier farmers market feel, quite the contrast from Whole Foods in spite of their similar approaches to providing high quality groceries at kind of sort of affordable prices. I had been inside Trader Joe's, including this one, before whenever I felt like browsing the merchandise here and experiencing a few minutes of a cozy, neighborhood-friendly environment. But on this last visit, one of the employees who happened to be working by the entrance took a moment to welcome me, which I hadn't remembered on any of my previous encounters. I headed to the rear of the store where they had the granola bars, but I couldn't find the box of Mini Perfect Bars I was on a mission for. I went back to the front and saw a couple of female employees talking to one another. I asked them for help, and Maggie graciously assisted me when I showed her a photo of the product I was looking for. She immediately knew where it was and even led me to the refrigerated section where I'd find it. Refrigerated? Oh yes, apparently, I had forgotten that Perfect Bars weren't your ordinary shelf stable bars; instead, they were the types of bars that needed to be refrigerated* so as to retain the best (or perhaps perfect?!) quality prior to consumption. Nevertheless, I really appreciated Maggie's level of service, and it seems the employees are happier here compared to their counterparts at other grocery stores, including, shall I say it again? Whole Foods. After grabbing a box of the Mini Perfect Bars, which would expire in just less than 6 months, I headed to the checkout lanes. All the lanes seemed pretty short, and I initially chose the stand overseen by the other female employee who was speaking with Maggie a few minutes earlier. Then, I noticed the customer's cart was full of merchandise, so I hopped on over to a checkout stand with Ethan as the cashier. The customer there had half a basket left of merchandise to be scanned, but a few seconds later, another employee, Sean, called me over to his checkout stand. Since all the checkout lines were pretty short, it was easy for me to miss the shortest line. I was impressed that Sean noticed me waiting nearby, but I suppose that Trader Joe's employees like him and Maggie are trained to exude consummate customer service, likely commensurate with the price tags I mentioned in the first paragraph. And Sean was super friendly and all, even complimenting me on the hat that I was wearing even though it's not a hat that anybody in the area would wear lol. His amicable demeanor added to the neighborly atmosphere that I had already felt from being welcomed at the entrance to requesting help from Maggie and now Sean saving me a couple of minutes while wishing me a wonderful evening! The only negative about my experience was that I almost bumped into another customer who was leaving right as I was about to leave as well. But that's on me for not paying close attention to my surroundings lol. Overall, a 5-star shopping experience at this Trader Joe's! Now I hope I can get another cash back offer that would be valid only at Trader Joe's again just to have a shopping experience that can perk up my day after such a long and grueling week of work, as was the case for me this past week. * There is a note on the box that says to store in the fridge or the freezer, but it also says "Take on the go for 1 week." Good tidbit of info to share if you're considering purchasing these Perfect Bars, even if it's not at a Trader Joe's.
