Seems like this company has changed management in past couple of years. Called to get onsite to check out a system they had installed. $300 charge to verify what I already had looked at- they did come out that morning. Asked them to quote me to replace pump and controller. Received a quote for $21k. Absolutely insane. I believe they don't want the work just collect the inspection fee and hope someone is desperate enough to pay 4-5 times what you should. Wish I had seen the similar reviews from past year. Save your $300 and seek help from a business with some sense of ethics. read more

My well pump died on a Saturday and they were out at my house installing a new one on Monday at 9am and were done by 1pm. It was mind-blowing. Absolutely unexpected, and completely some of the best service I've ever experienced. They left the area cleaner than they got it, were great communicators. Quoted me $21K after taxes and wouldn't give a quote until they came out and saw my house and charged 300$ for the quote. next guy I called gave a quote sight unseen (provided I diagnosed right) (which I did ) and did it for under $7K the next day in under 4 hours. I wish I could rate zero stars. BUYER BEWARE! We paid them to install a water softener. It lasted two years and completely stopped working. Found out they should have tested the water first before selecting the system, but did not. Their response to this issue was that we should 'part ways amicably.' They also price gouge. I work in tech and even I don't make that kind of money. Inflation is bad but not THAT bad. That kind of increase is just wrong and they did not even tell me the same $400 service I had less than two years ago was now going to be $950. Dave has been out to our well house twice now. !st time in the middle of a raging snow/ice storm, he drove out with chains on (and oh yeah it was a holiday weekend), needed a part, drove all the way out and CAME BACK, still with chains on, got our water pump back in service. No it wasnt cheap, but the job was done right and well, DONE. Who ya gonna CALL? RALPHS! Came out again as one of our aging 3 water tanks started leaking; gave me a quote, and yes as expected he recommended changing them all out because of course, if ONE has gone, the others will be right behind. Couldn't find a more helpful guy than Dave! My situation was a bit strange - we never actually had any work done by Ralph's Pump because we don't own the well and the owners insist on using a different company. But when we had issues a few weeks ago, I wanted to get a second opinion. So I called around to get some recommendations, and a couple people recommended that I call Dave. So I did. Over the next several days, he probably spent a total of 3-4 hours on the phone with me helping to diagnose the problems. He was willing to come out on a Sunday morning to look at the well, but (like I said before) the owners of the well wouldn't give us access in order to allow him to inspect it. We got an estimate for some repairs from the other guys, which I emailed to Dave, and he called me within 20 minutes to give me his opinion on their quote. He was honest, didn't try to disparage the other guys in any way, in fact even said that their estimate was probably pretty reasonable, although he thought he could beat their price by a little bit. I offered to pay him for his telephone time and I offered to pay for his time reviewing the other estimate, but he refused. He said his policy is to not charge unless he actually does an inspection or at lease makes a visit to the site. And, he said, he didn't mind talking on the phone and exchanging text messages and just hoped that he was able to help. So, bottom line: Dave was a nice guy, very helpful, very straightforward, and seemed also to be very knowledgeable, reasonable, and honest! read more

Last Saturday (3/8/19) our water stopped flowing in the house. I went out to the pump house and saw an old crusty sticker from the last time Dave came out (18 years ago). My in laws said he was great and I thought "I hope he's still in business" wee he is, and he came out that day, diagnosed and got our water flowing and gave us a quote based on the diagnosis. The next Thursday he came out, replaced the pump, well house plumbing and well pump. It wasn't cheap but the service was great, fast and I feel confident that if we have any problems we will be taken care of. Anorher well company basically ripped me off several years ago so I became sensitive to watching out for scammers who take advantage of a critical situation. Over tha past several months I've been plagued with a number of systemic problems, likely arising from a 35 year old pump and equipment. When the water initially stopped flowing it was pretty critical because everyone was at home full time due to Covid. I called Ralph's and they were able to respond very quickly. They diagnosed a worn pump and had it replaced by the next morning! Just a few months later, the pump switch finally gave up. I panicked but again, they arrived within 5 hours and had the problem solved! They are clearly knowledgeable, professional, and understand how disruptive 'no water!' can be. I had to revisit my review to say that if I could give Ralph's Pump and Well 10 stars, I would. The first time he came out, he replaced my well pump and it was pretty damn expensive. As it turns out? Well pumps are just pricey. It's sort of like losing a water heater or a furnace or needing to put a new roof on your house. It's just one of those really nasty things that CAN go wrong and when it does, it isn't cheap to deal with. Being a new home-owner, my "nest egg" isn't exactly built up to extreme levels. I told DAVE (the owner) this and he totally understand my situation and he let me put as much as I could on my cards and I paid him the rest in a month and a half when I got more money. He was totally flexible with that. AFTER that, we had a little problem. 2 actually. 1) The pump that he installed, burned out immediately and he said this was the first time in 15 years a pump as crapped out right out of the box. Since it was warrantied, he was at no loss on the part, but he could have EASILY charged me for the labor of putting in the NEW-new pump. He did not. He didn't do anything of the sort as he said "you called me to fix your well and get your water working...and I was set out to honor that". 2) After that kind bit of good will, I also asked them to come back out and lower the pump a little bit further into my well so I had more water before running out. Basically, my poor wife couldn't get a long enough shower and that is a bad thing. With this, I completely expected to pay him for this labor. After all, he installed it CORRECTLY the first time, I just needed this tweak. YET AGAIN, he did not charge for this labor. At this point, I feel like I am going to put the guy in the poor house from all of this free labor he's giving me. Each time was a reasonable reason to get in there and mess with the well, each time was not a problem with his expertise, it was just a specific issue with my well that needed a little tweak and he made due on his promise. My water is working - perfectly - and I couldn't be happier with his above and beyond service. The negative reviews here seem to me like they'd be from people who were just steamed that well service is expensive. read more

I have used Ralph's Pump and Well several times over the last nine years for both planned jobs (installation & maintenance) and an emergency like this morning when there was suddenly no water. Even though Dave was out of town and Tom was booked solid, they found a way to fit us in to troubleshoot. Luckily the problem was just something broken in the control box of the pump that Tom could repair right then and there. Nine years ago they were recommended to me by my neighbor. What a great find for my 1933 farm house with a well! I had just purchased a run down house with a well on it, and just as the remodel construction started the well (and subsequently water/bathrooms) stopped working. This posed a very big problem for my remodel project as the painters needed to power wash the house, and everyone needed to use the bathroom! Luckily I came across Dave at Ralphs Pump and Well Service and THANK GOD I did!! Dave came out to my house the very next day and was so incredibly honest and competent. My well system is very old, and at some point will need to be totally re-done. But Dave recognized that now was not the time for that, and within 20 minutes he fixed the problem with my well and got my remodel project back on track. He did a wonderful job explaining my system to me and gave me recommendations for how to improve the system when I was ready to do so. He easily could have told me I needed a $2,000 + fix (because I have no clue about pumps, wells, etc.) but I am so grateful for his honesty and professionalism and next spring when I do make a major upgrade to my well pump and system it will be Dave and Ralph's Pump and Well Service that will be doing it. Looking to purchase a home that was on a well system. Called Ralphs as they'd previously serviced the well. Realtor said the rep (Tom) was there for under 90 minutes and said immediately when he looked it that it was contaminated. Tom ran through some very simple volume and yield tests (that anyone with a bucket and stopwatch could do) and left. Outsourced the sample and nearly a week later I still do not have full results. Received sideways photos of handwritten notes and his findings (barely legible, and something you can do for free at any petstore that sells fish or by yourself with a pH test kit for three bucks) and a near 9k quote to replace, littered with several $200 "misc parts" charges that I don't buy for a second. I should have written this review a long time ago. At my previous home I had a well drilled by a company that charged my 25,000 and told me sorry but it's a dry well. Then they wanted to drill another one. I called Dave at Ralphs pump and well and he said "I'll come out with my sounder to check" There was plenty of water in that well. I had Dave put a pump in it and that well was awesome and never went dry. If you have well issues, don't waste your time calling anybody else. Dave Baerg is very capable and fast. He uses the best in equipment and his trucks are well stocked. I wasted 2 days waiting for the company that installed my well pump. Then I called Ralph's. Dave had other scheduled clients but squeezed me in the very next morning to diagnose the problem. Later that day he returned with his crane truck and performed some tests confirming his diagnosis. This morning (Saturday) Dave was here to make some temporary repairs and now we have water to our house! We have been using a nearby motel for showers etc.. Dave knows what customer service means! After days of tinkering around with it ourselves, Dave from Ralph's Pump and Well was able to get our 1960's era Sears jet pump up and running in about 15 minutes. Amazing! We've had this pump serviced in the past and it seems that no one knows anything about the old pumps anymore. Woke up in the morning to no water/pressure coming from the well, not the way I wanted to wake up. I called another place but they had no one to come out and they directed me to Ralph's. Gave them a call and they were able to send someone out in a few hours, thankfully someone canceled and they were able to come even sooner. They looked over things, replaced a control box, gave me some pointers on how I should be maintaining the well (things I didn't know since I hadn't lived in the home all that long). They did tell me I should probably start getting prepared for a possible replacement since the system is over 30yrs old and that it's a pretty long time for a system to run, but was happy it wasn't the typical pressure sales pitch sort of thing and tried to scare me like some companies do to get you to open up your wallet and let them sell you something. The price for coming out to do the initial diagnostics seemed a bit much, but it is what it is. Overall, I was very pleased with the guys that came out and got my system up and running again and answered all my questions. I'll have no problem giving them a call again to fix and/or replace my system if it comes to that. read more

Ralph's came out to inspect a well for a home sale & his initial test sent air through the lines. After the initial test he pumped for a half hour without issues, then ran the test two more times without problem. He told the buyers that there were definitely problems and they could be bad enough to require an entire new pumping system. One phone call to another well service and we were asked: has the home sat empty? Was the power shut off? That could explain this situation. Ralph never once offered to the buyers that this situation (which was indeed the case) could have caused the issue. Wasted people's time, wasted their money, threw up red flags where there should not have been. Definitely felt like he was trying to take advantage of a lack of knowledge on the part of the buyers. Second inspection by a different well service showed no problems what-so-ever. read more

I live in Duvall in the foothills out in the sticks. Deep well, storage tanks and pump all have need of service over the course of the years. I have used Ralph's Pump many times and am never sorry I call Dave Baerg, the owner. He is incredibly responsive when you need speed or have an emergency and he charges fair prices and most importantly, I never have to worry that I am going to have to call him because something wasn't done right. Ralph's is a company that believes in quality products, service done right the first time and to top it off, Dave has a great sense of humor...very pleasant to do business with! Over 3 years after Ralphs provided service, they continue to harass me for payment. If I had not paid, them, this would be understandable. But I paid in full within a week of receiving the original bill.in 2012. They continue to bill me. My responses have been ignored. I have sent them copies of my cancelled check twice, now for a third time. If their well work is as incompetent as their billing practices, don't use them. read more

My wife and I purchased our current home almost 5 years ago. We weren't sure when the well was installed but knew it had to be at least 30 years old. I called another well service I had previously worked with; they were so busy they referred me to Ralph's. I called on a Friday morning to make an appointment for the next week and Dave came out that same day. I wasn't able to be home, due to work obligations, but described the the problem and scenario and Dave came out at noon that day to inspect my tank and well. The initial inspection wasn't conclusive - the well could be running dry, there could be a break in the pipe, etc. So I worked through the various scenarios myself, with Dave coaching me via email/phone/text. He was very responsive even after hours and on the weekend (frankly, the only time I had to work on the issue) and was able to point me in the right direction without charging me an arm and a leg for repeated visits. I operate a well driven irrigation system for a group of homes. Problems cropped up this Spring when the pump controller began giving us problems. I was unable to firmly determine whether the pump was the cause of the problem initially or something else. It had been very warm for the last few days and we needed to get the landscaping watered soon. I called Ralph's and Dave came out immediately. He quickly verified the pump was OK within a few minutes as he had test equipment I did not and determined that the controller was the problem. He rapidly replaced the controller and we then discussed how we could limit those kinds of problems from occurring in the future. I will be adopting those shortly. While his charges were slightly high, given that the had the equipment on board his truck and also had the controller I needed which would take me a week to obtain, if not longer, I was more than happy to pay his charge. I spoke with him today and got the name of someone to do leak detection for us to help solve our problem. As far as I am concerned Dave was just the guy I needed, and has been totally helpful.
