Great service from 1st response. They did our entire AC setup and install as well as installing an ecobee and they were courteous, nice, informative, and helpful. The process was smooth, the payments were smooth, and I never felt swindled or like I didn't know what was going on. I highly recommend this business. Don't work with this company. After purchasing their annual maintenance plans for both our heater and air conditioner, they no-showed on three separate appointments. Why did I agree to the third appointment? Because the owner promised us a full refund PLUS $1000 if they didn't show for the last appointment. Despite them not showing for the last appointment, and sending me an email stating they would be sending me a check, it never showed up. I've tried calling, texting, and emailing them to resolve the issue, but they're definitely ignoring the problem. This was months ago, and to date, I've not received the service we paid for, received a refund, or even received a reply about the issue. We're now out hundreds of dollars, and I missed three full days of work for nothing. read more

Oh no! Our 25 y/o AC 's compressor died in the middle of July! After a consultation with 1st Response we were back in business less than 2 weeks later with an install of new Bosch Heat Pump. They said it would take two days to install, and by God it took two days to install! Rylan and Jake B. went above and beyond to make sure the install went flawlessly. They had to battle tree roots that were making the outdoor pad not level, an poorly tuned auxiliary gas furnace that just barely fit in the space required, and curious but clueless home owners with a bunch of questions. Rylan and Jake handled all these obstacles with good-natured aplomb. It's clear these dudes love their work; I can recall Jake grinning wildly while doing battle with the furnace. They rerouted some of the ducts and piping in the furnace closet and moved things around a bit so everything fit better, and installed an automatic power shutoff device to protect against water damage. The furnace area now looks neat and tidy as a bonus. Rylan noticed the low and high furnace fan speeds were both set ridiculously high, which was likely the reason for some of our historically uneven cooling and heating. Something has happened with this company in the last 6 months. I have worked with them for years and recently purchased new heat pump from them. The heat pump has a warranty issue and they have broken 2 appointments to repair and now are ghosting me. Whenever you call the office it goes to a voicemail that says they are restructuring. I have the owner's cell # and he has now blocked me. I will be calling someone else to get the cooling side of my new heat pump working. read more

I was referred to this company by someone in the business. Initially things went well. I was pretty excited that a particular service person was coming due to his great reviews. That's where things went down hill. There seemed to be a disconnect between the service techs and the office. I couldn't get a straight answer on whether my repair was covered by warranty. What the estimate was going to be and when I could get scheduled. The front desk took 4 days to contact the distributor and manufacturer on the warranty. I pulled the certificate up in 5 minutes and called the manufacturer in another 5 minutes. I also emailed this to the company I finally got a ridiculous estimate with no breakdown. When I requested it. They said they couldn't do that. I asked what 'materials' were needed and she couldn't tell me. Parts were warranted and labor was going to be 2500. I asked if the job was going to take like a week! She said no but it takes a long time. And they are waiting for parts. Flash forward. The parts are available locally. They were installed in about 30 min by someone else. All materials were provided with that parts. I would not recommend this company I also filed a review with the BBB read more

Moving up by one star. ======= I should have read recent reviews rather than going by the overall rating. First of all, they charge 105 bucks for providing an estimate, every other provider does it for free. Secondly, they disappear after the first visit.. I mean how long does it take to provide a quote?! The guy who came down for the estimate mentioned that they would get back to me within 3 days. It has been over a week and I cannot wait forever to get a quote. I get that they might be busy but they are just making money out of providing estimates and not sincere about following up with the customer. The person on the front desk just passes the buck to the 'manager' and then there is silence. Poor service! You may have made a 100 bucks but you certainly lost 3 customers that I could have referred you to. I woke up Monday to a freezing house. After calling around, 1st response was able to get me in the quickest. Kimberly was amazing with setting all of my initial and follow up technicians to visit. They were able to fit me in to their busy schedule and diagnose the issue with my furnace. Chandler made it late at night to my house after working all day and diagnosed the issues with my furnace. I was going out of town that week which made it very stressful! Kimberly was able to take the code to my garage and got the technician through my garage to fix my furnace. Like a lot of 1-star reviews, we initially had a great experience during the estimate and installation process. Chandler came out and gave us a lot of advice about what systems and machines were needed. At the end, we decided to update our furnace and upgrade to a tankless water heater, in addition to adding an AC unit. All in all, the final estimate came out to about $30K. During the installation process, the only thing we thought was a bit odd was that the installer was watching a lot of youtube videos on how to install furnaces, tankless water heaters, and AC units. We didn't think much of it since I'm sure different suppliers have different installation specs, but now that we're experiencing so many problems, in hindsight that was probably a red flag. Since installation happened about 6 weeks ago, we've have two separate leaks happen on the tankless water heater that 1st Response has been quick to address. Annoying that it happened, but understandable. The reason for my negative review is that 6 weeks in, last week was the first time we've really had to rely on the AC and IT DOESN'T WORK! $30K spent adding a new AC and upgrading the furnace and we don't have a working AC system. There's a horrible sound coming from the AC unit and every time we call 1st Response, we get connected to their dispatch service and all they can do is take a message, mark it as an "emergency" and promise to have a service manager follow up. I've called them at 8 am, then again at noon, then 2pm, and finally at 4:30pm and I've not received one call back. The next thing on my list is to file a complaint with the BBB and then I'm contacting their bond company. Maybe they'll respond then because as a customer who paid them $30K merely 6 weeks ago, they're not responding to multiple "emergency" requests. If you're expecting a company that responds to their customers in a timely manner and stands behind their workmanship, look elsewhere. I get that a lot of people have had a great experience with them and that's what initially attracted us to 1st Response but when the going gets tough and you're suddenly not on the happy path, you're left out in the cold (or in our case, the hot as it is 83 degrees indoors as I type this -- it's 82 degrees outside). read more

He checked my mini-split air conditioner/heater, did annual maintenance on my furnace, checked my thermostat, checked to make sure there was no carbon monoxide anywhere. He was friendly, professional, and very knowledgeable. I had several questions, and he was patient and thorough while answering them, even though it was getting towards the end of the day and he had another appointment to complete. I had my furnace checked out by another company and the issue I had of the heat sometime not being supplied to the home even when the furnace was on, was supposedly fixed. Fast forward to Christmas Day and my heat was no longer working once again, even though the thermostat was on and air was being circulated. The temperature inside my home had dropped down to 48 degrees. Carson Dexter from 1st Response HVAC came to my home and identified the issue, which was a "fringe" case that your average technician would not have found. Others thought I needed a new motherboard when in reality I just needed a new on/off switch. Super professional firm; highly recommended. I was in the end stages of selling a property and was getting horrible service from another heating & air company who was taking complete advantage of me. They couldn't diagnose and said they replaced the capacitor when they didn't and tried to charge me $798 for work they didn't do! I fired them and my realtor Ellie Renee called your company. I had a good experience with Rylan from 1st Response. I just needed an annual servicing for our heat pump and furnace and he was great. He called to let me know when he would arrive inside the scheduled window, was efficient, friendly and clean, and provided a very detailed report of his findings with photos which I really appreciated. I would say prices are generally too high for my liking and they charge and extra $60 to go in the crawl space (Thankfully, they told me this before he came out so I was not surprised). If that $60 went to the guy who had to crawl around in my terrible crawl space I'd be ok but it's really just a padded fee that goes to the company so I think that's a lame charge. Tristan and Rylan were both fantastic, professional and nice to work with. Tristan was able to come out the same day I called when I realized my furnace wasn't working. He was able to quickly diagnose the issue and get my 18 year old furnace working again. He also took the time to identify other parts that were in need of replacement and walked me through each one of them. He let me know which ones needed replacing now and which ones I could wait on replacing. I didn't feel any pressure and also didn't feel like he was just trying to sell me parts. Since my furnace is 18 years old he could have told me I needed an entire new furnace but he didn't and told me there still some good years left. I approved the additional parts which needed to be ordered. Rylan came out to install the parts and got them installed quickly. And walked me through the changes and made sure everything was working properly before he left. I have so many good things to say I don't know where to start. We hired 1st response years ago to convert our house to natural gas and It was an amazing experience. We ended up hiring them again later and again had an amazing experience with them. We moved and bought a new house and were working with a contractor when his HVAC guy all of a sudden wasn't able to do the gas line. I'm weeks away from having a baby and, panicked, called first response to ask if they had any availability. Braxton called me back within a day and managed to find someone to come last minute on a Sunday. I know they were booked out for a long time so his willingness to go the extra mile has to be noted! He let us call him after hours to work through details and was beyond kind and helpful. Then, Rylan showed up! Rylan came Sunday and not only did excellent work, went above and beyond to check our furnace because he knew with a remodel it may need maintenace. He also drilled a few holes to help my husband out who has been overwhelmed with other projects. Avoid this company at any cost. I contacted this company based on friends' recommendation and good reviews online to submit an estimate to add a central AC unit to our house. Braxton showed up on time and we went over the project and we discussed possible options based on location of the installation. When he was living he said that I should receive the estimate in 2 days. Days passed and I didn't receive any estimate from them for 17 days. Each time that I called them, they promised that Braxton is working on the estimate and I should have it by the next day. When I got the estimate, I was shocked by lack of details in the estimate. When I complained about the $3.5k price markup on the same system that they installed for my friend, Braxton started acting defensive and mentioning wrong details about our installation details. I guess that he totally forgot about the details that we discussed and just came up with a random number for their estimate. I hired another licensed company with the same good reviews online that did the installation of the same system for me for half the amount of Braxton's estimate. They might have good reviews online but they are overpriced and disorganized company. read more

Once again 1s Response was on top of it again, they even offered to bring my Mom some portable heaters until her furnace was installed, that is top notch. On the morning of the installation Ryhlan removed the old furnace clean and efficiently and started on the installation of the new furnace. Once again he performed all of the work with great professionalism. As a bonus, my Mom talked to him about letting her know when the furnace was removed so she could install a couple more floor tiles. Well, she was not notified but Ryhlan took the time and actually installed the floor tiles for her. I have no idea but this is fantastic service. And then installed the furnace. The whole time maintaining a very clean work space, being very polite and being a complete gentleman. If I could give 6 starts, I would. It's been a week and a half and it seems my heat is still working so I'm going to leave a positive review. My heat stopped working right after Christmas. I called a few heating companies I found on yelp and this company have the quickest turn around (the next day). Braxton and Ashley quickly identified the root cause and fixed the problem and restored our heat. For anyone who's interested, the price for diagnose and fix without any additional parts is 109 + tax. Another tip to who uses the nest thermostat and having issues that the heat stops before it reaches a preset temperature, you might need an additional wire in your nest due to inadequate power. My dumb thermostat had only 3 wires and it wired fine because it used 2 AA batteries. For nest since it uses power from the wires you might need a fourth C wire to provide it with enough power to prevent it from sending shut down signal to your furnace. read more

Had to have my water heater and valve connecting to the main replaced. They never once showed up within the window I was given or called to inform me of that information. The job spilled over from a few hours to the next day when I was assured someone would be there first thing in the morning. As of noon no one had made it by which I later found out was due to an emergency gas leak at a different location. After leaving a bucket wedged against my hot water heater, I was once again promised that a technician would show up between 8 and 11 am. No one contacted me until I reached out at noon. It was 9 pm before anyone bothered to show up with no warning. If they give you a time, expect to sit around all day waiting. Move on and call another company. Seriously don't even bother. read more

I called about 8 contractors for quotes for replacing my water heater and they were the best price by far! Communication was a little strange at first since I requested a quote and was emailed a quote, as well as a text immediately following stating that a tech was slotted to come by, even though I didn't approve the quote yet. The manager, Braxten, called and explained that the text was a hold in case I wanted to get it installed right away. Since they had the best quote and were immediately available, I called them back and scheduled the service. They were at my house within 10 min. The service techs, Dalton and Tracy, did a great job explaining the job and cleaned up after themselves. When I got the bill, I was actually a little shocked to see some add-on fees that were higher than was mentioned. The techs said I could call the office to talk to them about it, so I did. Braxten provided excellent customer service and explained the fees included labor and markup and was able to help clarify everything. I think it would be beneficial for them to provide a "labor and markup" line item so it doesn't give people sticker shock when they see the fees. I recommend this company and would use them again due to their low prices and excellent customer service. read more

We had hired them to install AC in our home. Their pricing was reasonable and they provided an unlicensed electrician to add a new sub panel to support the unit to help keep the costs from exploding. However, we had to hire another company twice to come repair the unit within the firsr few years of installation. The first was a water leak in the attic that caused damage in our ceiling and down through the dining and kitchen area. The 2nd, even more costly to diagnose and fix was broken refrigerant line on a less than 5 year old AC unit. Braxten is a nice guy and his costs are attractive, but the quality of their work is very subpar. read more
