First, I used to work in the plumbing industry, it is very difficult to maintain good reviews in this industry. To say I was shocked and impressed is an understatement. In my experience they've been very honest about how our system can best be served (including recommending solutions that are appreciably not the most expensive, based on our own priorities, which I appreciate), and have been flexible when work had to stop mid-way through a project due to unforeseen circumstances. When we found out that our exhaust wasn't exhausting, they were able to get a chimney person out the same day to get an assessment. I can't express how much I appreciate someone who knows when they've hit their technical limit and is willing to say "Let's bring someone else in". Can't express enough how grateful I am to have them around to help out. Their trip charge is 200, because they were great before and I was ok with that. But this time, not only it took them 2 visits (including a missed one) and a long time to give me a quote, but they gave me a ridiculous estimate that made me think they don't want this job. This is ridiculous so I have to go to others. All my 3 other quotes ( from other well reviewed companies) were like 600-1000 to replace the broken runs, but they quoted me something like 5000. In trying to find a solution to an ongoing, big problem, I spoke with many foundation/drainage contractors. I also spoke with a home inspector, who recommended that I contact Steve Bodine. Steve promptly came out to look at my job, and had brilliant and knowledgeable suggestions that other contractors had never even mentioned. My building is 50 years old and needed new drains and a place to direct the water run-off during heavy rains. Steve pulled drawings from the City of Seattle to show where, with the proper permits, my drains could be connected to the City's storm drain. I checked out Steve and Bodine Construction Services' reviews out, and saw the excellent reviews they consistently receive. I hired Steve and his team to do my job. They installed new French drains and water-proofing for our 50 year old home. Steve told me exactly what it would cost, and when he could start my job. Throughout the duration of the job, Bodine Construction Services provided detailed, explanatory job progress photos. Instead of trying to sell us anything we didn't need, he actively helped us troubleshoot and find the issue so we could point the furnace company right to it. This visit didn't make Bodine a sale, but it did make me a customer for life! Highly recommend Bodine Construction Previous Visit 2019: Bodine Construction came out and helped resolve a sewer/drainage issue that another sewer/drainage company had caused, and essentially went to bat for us to get us some of our money back from the previous company. On top of that their prices were fair and their work was great. We had a couple other companies out to look at the issue, but it felt like they just wanted to sell something. Had Maco come out to evaluate a loud rattling coming from my gas fireplace flue every time we used…read moreit. Guys came out and diagnosed a bad blower motor on the roof. Told me that the blower motor was not fixable; needed to be completely replaced. Quoted me a flat $9200.00 for the motor and replacement. I did some research and saw that the identical motor retailed for around $3200. Even given them the benefit of the doubt for extra costs for shipping, etc., they were clearly going to charge me north of $5000 for labor to install a completely self contained unit that attaches to the roof with only a handful of bolts and a single electrical connection. (I also confirmed that blower motors are worked on all the time and do not always need replacement at the first sign of a problem). I therefore got a second opinion. The other company I had come out confirmed that the rattle was in fact NOT coming from the blower motor at all, but from a loose piece in a different motor serving the flue vent. They charged me $500 plus tax for parts and labor to fix it. $500. Done. So, Maco (1) misdiagnosed the problem, (2) lied to me that blower motors cannot be repaired in any scenario, and then (3) gave me a wildly inflated bid in the hopes that my ignorance would be to their benefit. Criminal.

He recommended another business for me because it suited my needs better when he could've taken advantage of my lack of knowledge and charged me for services I didn't need.
