I come to Ralph's almost everyday. I think I'm addicted lol. This place is great for grocery's on a budget. They have great sale items on everything from wine to poultry. Staff is also extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the products in the store. I feel like they are practically family at this point. Their online app and customer service is awful. Don't bother using Ralph's.com for convenience, because it is the crappiest system I've ever encountered. Order online, pick your time, the app says it's ready and then when you get there, it's NOT READY. The people that designed the application need to be fired for using a process that breaks and provides a customer experience that will make you shop someplace else. It took me 20 minutes to get through to let them know I was there to pick up. The guy filling the online order was great, but I'm sure he gets an earful because Ralph's has a $hitty app and sluggish managers who never answer their phone. I doubt Ralph's will care, so I'll be sticking to Costco and Albertsons. read more

The deli inside of this location has horribly slow and rude service. My partner and I stood in there for about 10 minutes without being acknowledged, there were other customers waiting as well, however only 4 in total. They had 5 staff members working and 2 of them were just standing there watching what everyone was doing. Once we were spoken too we asked for an item that they didn't have, and were told that they would be making more and would have it out in 5 minutes. 2 minutes later they say that they're sold out, and then two minutes after that we were told they would be out in a few minutes. We waited another 10 minutes before deciding to leave after all the staff just stood around while we were waiting, and didn't give us an update on what was going on / if they even had what we were asking for. I love the Ralph's on E. Bluff Dr. in Newport Beach. The reality is its located very close to my home, and the employees are amazingly polite, and kind. I frequent this location and stop by every once or twice a week. Their aisles are always stocked and well organized. And they have an amazinggg selection of alcohol, which are alwaysss on sale! Their staff is also very friendly and helpful. There's also a Coffee Bean inside! The only down-side is the self-check-out stations. During the few times I've used them, they didn't take into account any sales or specials that were going on, even with my Ralph's card - like the $0.88 sodas, if you buy 6 or more. I had to ask a staff member for help like 3 times! I recommend skipping the trouble and going to an actual check-out register. read more

This is my go to Ralph's. It is very convenient to get to from many areas in Irvine. It has a wide variety of food choices, specifically vegan and vegetarian options both fresh and frozen. I also love their produce section as their fruits and veggies are always fresh and just ripe enough to eat. I have never had any bad service here and the staff is very attentive when you have questions or need help. They also have the self check out registers that move quickly and are great during the after work rush. read more

This Ralphs has been my go to store for 25 years. NO MORE!! They continue to add more and more merchandise displays throughout the store. Each week it is getting worse. Customers and shopping carts use to move freely throughout the store. This is no longer possible. Some isles have soooooo much clutter and merchandise displays that only one cart can move, in only one direction. If another shopper approaches you, one or the other has to completely back up. There is no room to pass or turn around. Also the "end caps" continue to creep out into the aisles too. This store has soooooo much clutter, it now resembles a DOLLAR STORE. Also, this location allows dogs into the store. Not service dogs but any/all dogs. Our dogs stay home when we go grocery shopping. Lastly, it seems that most employees that work here are miserable. Rarely do I get a smile or a pleasantry. Stay away from this Ralphs. Mgmt doesn't care about these concerns either. SO SAD..... read more

They must be undercover filling here recording people's responses for a comedy show of some sort. I walk in at 12:05 am, actually forgot about yesterday already ( see review from yesterday). I got my water and cheese cake and proceeded to get in line. Tonight the line started in the middle of the hard alcohol aisle. The cashier " a middle aged male with mom jeans on pulled up to his abdomen with a tucked in tshirt chewing gum like Violet from Willy wonky, asked me before he started do I need a bag. I said no. After I paid I remembered I walked so before I said anything reached into my pocket to get a quarter and said" I apologize, I do need a bag" despite the 10 people behind me, the cashier stops, puts both hands on the air ( see store survalence) and proceeds to scold me in front of god and everyone. " I asked you if u wanted a bag!!!! He said. You said NO!!! Before I could say, I forgot I'm walking, like the guy in bird cage would have, he said. " u you know what!!!! Go ahead. Go ahead!!!! So I put my quarter down and walked out to to him rolling his eyes and he's yet to help the next person. In all seriousness the staff here needs a reality check or something cause this really ain't funny anymore. ( no I don't review often, these are the first 2 in years. The workers at this Ralphs are over the top GREAT. My boyfriend and I wanted to cook some salmon for dinner and we decided to go to the fresh fish section to see what choices were available. The butcher who worked in this area went way above and beyond in service. We ordered some salmon and he was kind enough to slice off the skin, and even told us that he can give us some butter, garlic, rosemary, and dill on the house as a service for ordering fresh fish by the pound. We gladly accepted the offer and got a bag of these complimentary goodies for garnish. They were busy when we were ordering but he still took his time to package everything for us. Then when we were at the registers, our cashier (Ronald) told us that for next time if we'd like, the butchers can go an extra step and throw all of it in a convenient bag for us so that it's good to go and when we get home, you just throw the entire thing into the oven to bake. I really appreciate all these tips that the workers at this Ralphs location gave us and we will definitely be picking up all our fresh fish from here. RE: EMPLOYEE RACISM I already lodged a complaint against the store's Bakery section employee earlier today. I'm a woman of color, Indian-American & a loyal customer for over 20 years. I was waiting to be helped & this female employee was chatting with 2 other customers who seemed to be together. She was trying to explain to this customer why his order had been messed up--I was at the counter long enough to understand the context of their exchange. I was barely 2-3 feet away. She began blaming some nameless employees in the back. The man asked if the problem was "because English is their 2nd language?" Within clear earshot, this woman said loudly enough that the "these people (in the back) don't understand English and it's really hard to explain anything to them. It's a really big problem we have these days." She shrugged after waving her arms in frustration. This was a highly inappropriate comment, and if the workers she was referring to were Latino or Hispanic, this was also blatantly racist. This seemed like a clear Trump-effect unfolding before my horrified eyes. I wonder if this woman would have felt as emboldened 2 weeks ago & said this with the same arrogance. She didn't care if I overheard. She felt entitled to express this bigotry clearly for 3 customers to hear. I wonder if a store like Ralphs would let this kind of behavior pass. What was worse is that when I said, "excuse me," to attract her attention (because I'd been standing at the counter for a good 5-7 minutes without being attended to or told that she'd be with in a few minutes) she turned to me & rudely, very slowly said, "I am helping this woman who was ahead of you in the line." Here is the thing: (1) If Ralph's trains their staff well enough then this employee should've said, "I'll be with you in a moment," the second she spotted me at the counter. (2) There was no line. The employee was casually talking to 2 people. I assumed these 2 people were together. And since she'd already explained the delay or mistake, I assumed that she was done with them. She made me feel like one of "those people who don't understand English"--hence the slow-talk. This is outrageous behavior and not something I expect from a store that I have been patronizing for over 20 years. I will be taking my business elsewhere. I wonder how this woman treats her co-workers who may not be white. I doubt that it's with courtesy. I doubt if she recognizes the dignity of "these people" that she was ranting against. Ralph's has a serious problem on their hands if this is the kind of employee who's the face of the company and is allowed to get away with this attitude without a reprimand. They have some serious investing to do in employee sensitivity training so that this vile incident doesn't repeat itself. read more

Unbelievable this was a $6.99 sandwich. I have been going to the Fullerton location for years and there sandwiches and deli is wonderful. I work in Irvine so for lunch decided to go grab a sandwich, it was sloppy so small for $7 and not fresh at all. I love Ralph's but this location needs to really get it together. read more

Whenever I need colloquium snacks and supplies or a quick snack for the morning, Ralphs is there to welcome me with open parking lots in the morning. :) What I love about this place is their wide parking spaces and their salad bar. This is the best freakin Ralphs ever!! I love this place. Ever since they remodeled (They even had HOT guys giving free samples during their Grand Re-Opening), this store has been my favorite supermarket. Sometimes they have blended ice coffee samples at the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf inside the store. I also love their "Busted Section"... I've found really cool stuff for really cheap back there. Hot Food... ready to put in yo mouth: - "Bistro Meals" $6.99 (at the Hot Foods counter). Forget the fried chicken that every other supermarket has; get a Prime Rib meal with 2 sides for $6.99!! You can ask for free grilled onions and Au Jus or turkey gravy. It comes with a few slices of french bread too, which is really delicious when dipped into the turkey gravy. They also have roast pork loin and roast turkey. But why get those when there's Prime Rib? For 7 bucks... you'll be stuffed. It may not be the best prime rib in the world... but it's good for a quick bite at lunch time. - Green Been Caserole (one of the sides for the Bistro Meal): smooth and creamy with the little fried onions on top. It can get a little mushy tho. - Scalloped Potatoes: freakin creamy as heck. Almost like creamy mashed potatoes. - They have a big cheese selection - Walk-in wine storage - Good sandwiches - Open 24 hours They also have a Glacier purified water dispenser outside that we use frequently. The water tastes great!! I have so many fond memories of this Ralphs... it's hard not to be biased. OH! I just talked with the store's manager and seems like starting 3 weeks ago they close the store at 1 AM and re-open at 5 AM. They used to be open 24hrs... Great grocery store! Great customer service! Great hours. Always well stocked in all foods has organic foods and great selection of fresh organic vegetables. Alcohol section is huge and has great selections of all kinds of wines and spirits. Also has international foods from different parts of the world. A complete grocery store. 1 star rating for their customer service. I had a quick question for one of the associates dressed in all black about the wine sale... Her response to me was outright rude and unfit for any employee. I asked her if the "30% off if you buy 6 deal" was for wine only... All she could say to me was "I don't know" (in the rudest tone like I was wasting her time) and redirected me to her associate. This Ralph's isn't like most I have been to in that it looks like a low rent version of Whole Foods. You hang around Irvine long enough and you realize everything starts to look like a low rent version of Whole Foods -that's just how it is. You may not think a Ralph's could pull this look off, but this place comes pretty close (and also has less parking congestion and fewer all-organic-all-the-time wackos cruising up and down the aisles). I made a trip to the store in early October to buy some American Express gift cards for work. I picked up 300 dollars worth and shipped them off the very next day. As an example of my dedication to the job (and wanting to get paid) I filled out my expense report (with receipt attached) and sent it to our corporate office. I was busy relishing in a job well done when I receive an email from the recipient of the AmEx cards informing me that two of the three cards were never activated and that they would be shipped back to me. I knew as I was heading to the store and blasting some XM Satellite radio (20 on 20, you know how I do) through the streets of Irvine that this was going to be a debacle. I had the cards and the gift receipts in hand and stormed the store. I reach the front desk as the manager approaches and explain my situation. She quickly dials up the AmEx folks to hook me up with some brand spankin' new cards. The lady on the other end of the phone was super rude and decided that she wouldn't help me until I could find the original receipt, which would be impossible since I already sent it to New York for reimbursement. At this moment I can't help but wonder why they give you the activation gift receipt if you really need the original receipt ... maybe that's why I don't work in customer service. Anyhoo, the manager calls back a few times (and keeps hanging up each time the rude lady answers) to get a new rep on the phone and they start working out the details to hook me up with 200 bucks worth of cards. At this point I have been in the store for about 30 minutes when said manager beckons the Coffee Bean barista (are they still called baristas if they don't work at Starbucks?) to give me a free sample of their new drink. If there is one thing I love more than lip gloss and nail polish it is getting free stuff especially when it tastes delish. I waited another 10 minutes and walked out of the store with a free drink and my newly activated American Express gift cards in hand. Given the situation with the gift cards and the 40+ minute wait I would be justified in giving this Ralph's a low rating but I just can't do it. The manger was really nice and they gave me free coffee and for that alone - 4 stars! read more

Love Ralph's, but won't be buying chicken from Ralph's until they discontinue selling 90% Foster Farms (Feds shut down for cockroach infestation, and they caused a salmonella outbreak). Also, Ralph's has NO boneless, skinless chicken THIGHS in any brand. What's up? Sadly, the Albertson's brand chicken I just bought reeked of cow / chicken dung (not sure which) and so I won't be buying chicken there either. After a horrible morning at work, I decided to treat myself to a red velvet cake. I called first to make sure that this ralphs sold the two piece red velvet cake for 3.79 and the lady told me that if I wanted some, they would cut it up and display it. When I arrived 10 min later, sure enough, I saw them cutting the red velvet cake and put it into the containers. Now thats what I call customer service! The red velvet cake was still the best! the cake itself was moist and DELICIOUS. the cream cheese icing was a bit on the sweet side but definitely not worth taking off a star for. In this day and age where a cupcake can cost you a $4, you should drive to the nearest Ralphs and buy two slices of red velvet cake and keep that extra change. My co-worker and I wolfed down this cake as if we hadnt seen food in a year and it definitely helped to brighten our crappy work day---our experiments suddenly worked after eating this cake--so I'm going to have to say this will be a tradition to go get a red velvet cake slice when I have a crappy day at work read more

My friend Chelsea took me here to get some snacks last night after my flight into town. Ralphs is a really clean grocery store that kind of reminds me of Publix in Orlando, Fl. Even for it being a little before midnight, the store still managed to be really organized and appear to be fully stocked on most items. They had my favorite Kerns guava nectar juice which I love so much! I also noticed that they had a pretty good selection of vegan products as well as organic fruits and veggies! People normally associate grocery store sushi with a big old YUCK but their sushi is completely underrated, well made and fresh. The presentation is about as beautiful as you can get for sushi in a box at a store and the taste is authentic as far as I know. I love their California rolls with salmon. They put a great sauce on top that is just delish and their sushi has the right balance of ingredients and rice - not too much of either one. Have spoken to the friendly and humble sushi chef and she arrives at the store very early in the morning to make these beautiful and delicious rolls. Definitely give her your support and give her sushi a try, especially if you don't feel like going to or ordering takeout from a Japanese restaurant but want a nice quick lunch or dinner. read more

They have changed a lot of things as of April 1st of this year. First, they took away the double coupons, to which I said "Whaaaaat the freak?!" Yes folks, they only take coupons at face value now. In return, they have lowered their prices significantly for rewards members (sign up if you haven't). They also moved some of the products around (a cheaper way for a new look?), included bulk dispensers (like nuts), and supposedly made it easier to earn Shell gas points (which I haven't figured out how yet). In my previous review, I have mentioned how expensive they were, so to get a good deal, you needed to buy things that were only on sale, use double coupons as well as catalina coupons on top of that (I used to be able to get spaghetti sauce for $1 and free toothpaste). Now, majority of their stuff have become surprisingly more affordable, so during one sale week, for example, a carton of Minute Maid Fruit Punch was $0.78, Breyers ice cream was $2.50, Pepperidge Farms Milanos was $1.88... Now that's cheaper than what I've seen on sale at Target! I've been doing my grocery shopping at Target (and Sprouts), but I usually get the same things because their selections are limited. Now, I can come here and buy a variety of things that I can't find at Target without breaking the bank :D (I've noticed that Target is starting to incorporate new items as well - like Sargento cheese and Philadelphia Indulgence cream cheese - so there may be competition...mwahahaha *rubs hands together with evil glee*). read more

This review is for the STAFF only. I have always received decent customer service here until today.. which was quite disappointing. The MANAGER who works here is terrible. I did not catch his name tag, but he is tall, somewhat middle eastern looking and wore some sort of uniform.. All he does is stand at the self check out area with some sort of 'I'm the boss' look on his face. Usually the donuts are half off after 4pm, and but when I checked out, I was not given a discount.. I proceeded to ask the man standing there, who had a name tag that said MANAGER. asked if the donuts were not half price anymore. He had a bored and demeaning look on his face and just told me it's whatever price the machine says it to be. Did not show any interest at all to help me. I don't think he even knew what I was talking about. He just looked at the computer at his station and told me the current total of my groceries, which was the wrong amount.. he told me I had $25 in groceries, but I only had $15.... This guy totally does not know what he is doing, yet he is being paid as a manager to stand there and do nothing? It's ridiculous. Give the job to someone else who knows how to handle the job better than that. read more

Ralphs is the best grocery store in Irvine. The sales are usually better than those at Albertsons. And the best thing about this Ralphs is that it is open 24 hours! Yes, even at 3 in the morning, if I have a hankering for something, I can head on over. At these times, customer service may not always be good. In the past few years, I have noticed fewer good reduced-for-quick-sale items. At least there are still more here than at Albertsons and they still offer better savings. I loved when I used to be able to get their Private Selection stuff for a discount. The store itself can sometimes be a little dirty and unorganized. I also prefer the customer service of the Ralphs on University. That's why I rate this Ralphs 4 stars. I forget the hours, but this location can also fry your fish for free. Bum Tip: Cut those coupons, people. Double coupon savings (up to a dollar) everyday. The store manager (I think her name is Karen) is the whole reason I'm writing this review. I'm sure anyone who's been to the store knows who I'm talking about. While the service in the store is overall good, you can tell this lady really loves her job. Not only is she extremely helpful, always making sure things are in order at the self checkout; she's also very knowledgeable, always knows which items are on sale and the item numbers of fresh produce. Recently moved back to Irvine and I'm growing to love this store! Great variety, busy, but never crazy crowded, and everyone is friendly. I stopped by there earlier this evening to pick up some items for a small NYE's party. I got home and realized that I must have left the ham I purchased at the self-check out area. To make matters worse, I was rushing and on the phone (no wonder I left it), and I had forgotten to grab my receipt too! I called and spoke with Matt. He was so nice. He said no problem, come on back. I did, and by the time I got there, someone had given the rogue ham to one of the employees!
