My go-to Ralph's! Typically clean, well-stocked and well-staffed. This Ralph's is located in the lower level of a parking structure. If you use Google Maps it might navigate you to the upper level, which was confusing for me the first time! I now use the street entrance off Wilson street (next to Wells Fargo). One time I went and the fire alarm was going off inside. I asked the nearest staff member how long it had been going on for and he said 2 hours! Went to this Ralph's at 10pm on a Monday for emergency baby food and the infant aisle is locked. Why?? I asked a female worker "is there any chance I can purchase baby food, I see it's in that aisle" just out of curiosity so I can go somewhere else if not. She said "there's some in the front". I go to the front and it's just baby formula. I go back to her and she points at the front telling me it's 'over there'. I tell her "that's just formula". She said "that's all we have". So she wasted a few minutes of my time with her poor service, acting like she's in a rush when the store is open until 1am. I went down the street to Vons (which closes at 11pm) where the baby aisle is NOT locked and made my purchase. In and out, easy peasy. I've been a long time customer of Ralph's both this one and on Colorado-Verdugo. While the selection, variety and prices might be ok I've been having a problem the last year with produce. Onions that are moldy inside the day I buy them. Tomatoes and limes that get mold in two days at home. Herbs that last only a few days. I end up throwing half my produce out so I'm not really saving money. If we have to continually pay higher prices for food and check out our own groceries at least give us some quality produce! read more

I just left Ralph's after spending 45 minutes collecting about 15 needed specific items. Just before checking out I left the cart by the flowers to get a can of pineapple which took no more than 3 minutes. When I returned the cart was gone with no sign of it anywhere and no one knew what happened to it. I was surprised because I've done that very all of my life (50 years) and never had a problem whatsoever. Employees should boy have been in a hurry as it closes at 1 AM. An hour an one half later. Cashier Charletta P called us impatient when we simply pointed out that the price of an item was not what it was advertised for. We did not raise our voice or get upset when asking, we just brought it to her attention. That pissed me off so much that I didn't realize there was another item that was incorrectly marked on the receipt, that I just got charged seven dollars extra for. It's not the first time we've seen bad behavior there. The previous time we were there, we watched and another cashier treat a woman differently for what seemed to be just her ethnicity. I'm not gonna lie. I was recently here shopping for dinner and while putting a rotisserie chicken in my basket--I proceeded to fumble said chicken right onto the ground. This mf had been COOKIN under that heat lamp, the packaging was slippery and hot and almost fell apart. There was an employee right there who saw the whole thing happen. I excessively apologized (like the worm I am) and he helped wipe up the chicken liquid that was all over the shelf. I finally got the shell of the plastic container around the rotisserie chicken after like 15 seconds and corralled the recently fumbled fowl back into its natural habitat (within its container). I kid you not, homeboy then said--"5 second rule, it will be fine. Thank you for shopping with us!" and walked off. I was dumbfounded. Up to the day of this event, I had never fumbled a rotisserie chicken, a ham, a tenderloin, not even so much as a McNugget. Here I was, freshly in shock of watching a full, uncovered rotisserie chicken hit a dirty counter, but I was now encouraged to keep this chicken and buy it based off of the "5 second rule". I walked around the store for another minute or so after walking away from this employee. Probably leaving behind a small trail of rotisserie chicken liquid from my basket as I walked. I dipped into the candy aisle and set my recently-fumbled rotisserie chicken filled shopping basket down, walked out the door and never looked back. That day, I vowed I could never return to Ralphs again. I have done just that, I even go to Jon's (yuck) now. I need to atone for my rotisserie chicken fumbling sins, but I'm not gonna get pinched for $11.99 for some slippery rotisserie chicken container making me look like a fool. I'm sorry Ralph's. Still racist here. Racially profiling people who use self check out. They got a little more sneakier when it comes to watching black people check out compared to others but it's still there. Walk up to a self check out machine, the staff watching the area suddenly moves to the far end (the entry) area so that they can get a better view, there are others there but they didn't walk over until I walked up, as soon as I left, they resumed their position next to the cash register area. There were 3-4 other people there, none whom were black. The way she did it wasn't as obvious so I guess yay for that, but feeling surveyed when there were other people there... I'm 50 and know when a racially biased person does something prejudice. Those little micro racial aggressions pop up. This used to be a decent store, not anymore. I had literally one item and I got behind an insta cart worker who was checking out three different orders. He could have let me go first since he took forever to check out. The cashiers should not allow multiple orders like this, the line was backed up in the aisle. The cashier didn't apologize just his every day doing business and making customers experience horrible. On top of while I was waiting a weird guy in the hygiene corral ( roped off area with separate entry) was staring at me in an odd way every time I turned around. It was creepy af and very annoying. PARKING (FREE) Located in the outdoor Glendale Fashion Center, they shared a large-sized overground exposed and underground covered parking lot with several businesses such as Staples, Michael's, World Market, Petco, and more. Otherwise, there appeared to be plenty of street parking on most surrounding streets excluding the main drag of Glendale Ave. - 'nuff said. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A large store with aisles upon aisles of food, the layout was similar to most grocery stores with the produce section directly on your right when you entered, the many refrigerated sections along the right and back of the store, and then the deli far off to the left. The wine and beer section was off the deli area. Plenty of promotional signs and visuals stimulated your senses as you walked throughout this box of goodies. No natural lighting since it was located in a subterranean parking lot while bright soul-sucking fluorescent electric ceiling lights filled in the rest. There were no TVs, but music played in the background. ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL Glendale's Glendale Ave. Ralphs location may not be my favorite one but still fulfilled all that I usually needed. They had everything I needed, was usually stocked well, often not a long wait, a self-checkout area, the prices always seemed cheaper than other major grocery stores, and the staff seemed perfectly fine. Plus, if you joined their free membership, you earned points towards future discounts and dollars off. Place itself is great, issue was the cashier. Just left the store. Wednesday 7:30 pm 9/25/24. Was my turn in line and the cashier was rude for absolutely no reason. This isn't a racial thing just trying to be as accurate as I can be and I'm a person of color myself. Cashier was an African American woman. My turn was next and I said "hi how are you?" And her immediate response was "you're supposed to wait until I say next then you can say hi how are you?" With a condescending tone. I say "sorry what?" And she proceeds to continue. 97% of the time I come here there are zero hand baskets by the door, and so I have to wander around the checker stations to find one. Three days ago I visited the store and there were no hand baskets by the door and only one shopping cart. But plenty of workers standing around. They just redid the store to make room for more self checkout kiosks. I had three items, one was alcohol, which you can't purchase at self checkout. The two lines with human checkers were a mile long. I dread going to the store. read more

I think this Ralphs is OK, I just prefer to shop at my Ralphs near my home. The aisles are wide. Everything looked neat and in place. What I didn't like was the fact that there weren't any shopping carts or baskets for us to use. We had to go get one from the parking lot! I purchased bison bars here only to realize a week later they had been expired for over 6 months. When I went to return them, they wouldn't accept them without a receipt. That may be understandable for a sizable purchase. For a small purchase though it seems like they could take the customer's word or look it up in the system. Yet the checkout person said they didn't know that they sold the expired bars without a receipt and I'd have to come in early in the morning for another worker to track down the order. I walked off less concerned about the money and more the principle. They didn't bother to check the shelves to make sure they're not selling expired goods. So I checked myself and sure enough, there were about 7 other boxes sitting there toward the back that were expired by at least several months. Some by about 8 months. After I showed a worker, then they issued a refund. Be careful about expired food at this store. And keep your receipts because they're more inclined to think you're trying to scam them out of $8.99 than check to see if in fact the customer is telling the truth. read more

Paid for what I had and drove 20 min home just to find out more than half of my purchase was missing from my bag. I drove back the within 30-40, and located the guy that bagged my purchase and his response was "are you sure you're missing the item" yes I'm sure. I bought 7 items, more than half are missing. This was not a grocery list of item. I asked to talk to the manger and they point some guy out to me who has at least 5 ppl waiting in his line. I stand there waiting, pregnant, assuming the manager knows I'm waiting on him. No response or reaction. I ask the guys who bagged my stuff if the manager knows I'm waiting on him. He says "oh...no" and goes and calls him. The manager asked me how he can help me, and I tell him I'm missing some items. My assumption is that when he's employee fail to hand one of only two bags over to a customer, they hold on to the bag in case the customer returns. But no, he asks me to point the guy who was my cashier out...I tell him the man is no longer there. He tells me he the person has left for the day and that he needs a receipt. I did not have the receipt. The lack of apology and the total attitude of the employees is pretty disgusting. I asked him what he wanted me to do? I have the purchase on my card and with an attitude he tells me to just go get what I had and bring it back. Pretty grossed out by this place I walked out. Someone needs to walk into this place and teach them how to treat their customers. I don't give a shit about the $30, I do care about my time being wasted and the lack of apology from not the staff but the managers.
