Ralphs is the best grocery store in Rancho San Diego. The staff is friendly and they stock a very wide variety of high quality products. You will pay a bit more than you will at Smart & Final, but the variety of products and quality is a bit higher on many items. Went to food line outside ralphs today. They r limiting to 1 of ANYTHING. the checker was rude. I thought only paper products limited so i got 3 bunches of bananas and 3 packs of mozzarella sliced cheese. She told me limit of 1 of anything and takes two bunches of bananas but doesn't say anything about my cheese. Then person behind me had 3 boxes of Kleenex and i called her on it. She says oh i was talking and missed that. Yes, at 8.15am in morning she was asking another clerk when their breaks were. If you dont like yr job quit and give it to someone else. Dont be rude, i am one of the reasons you have a job. read more

I was looking for something in the refrigerator section that they were out of. Felix was restocking that area and without me even asking he volunteered to go back and check to see if they have more in the back. They did and he brought for out and asked me how many I wanted. As with every grocery store, prices vary and you have to know your deals everywhere you go. We're a military family and have found much better deals here on a lot of products than at the commissary. What keeps us coming back is that and the staff friendliness. We have a 6 month old little girl who they've seen grow since she was just a week or so old. They're always extremely kind, they say hello, and are continuously going above and beyond. We really appreciate all the staff here! read more

The renovations are beautiful. And the store always has a nice, calm, clean, open feel to it. Even the meat / fish market area doesn't really smell! Although it'd be nice if the customers stopped trashing the bathrooms-this is why stores start locking them. Being on a budget, I stopped going here so much, for the dollar stores and outlets, club stores. But if you've read my reviews, I am just getting so fed up with the shopping experiences at even the newer of those stores. AND I have found great deals with the manager's specials. Not to mention they have great sales/clearances. I always buy more than I intend to-but more that I can use later. Also, they have great affordable healthy quality lines. (Didn't wanna just say organic. ) The Abound line for pets is very noticeably better, and competitive with online specialty / vet brands. Even the variety in this huge store is nice, for instance I found some collectible barbies on sale! And no nasty customers running into you with their carts, refusing to move out of the way, crowding you at check out, refusing to put the bar down behind them, while the cashier ignores you. The cashiers / employees are mostly very nice; I even have had them chase me down with my cash back or a forgotten item! I'd like to work out my budget so I could shop here more. Might just lower my blood pressure. read more

Their doors were locked 20 minutes before they were supposed to be closed, I just needed one thing. Had to drive 30 minutes to a different Ralph's after driving 20 to get to this one. It was a huge waste of time, super disappointing, the workers didn't even have the decency to come over and say they're closed, I know they saw me and heard me knocking but they chose to ignore me while I stood there for several minutes trying to get someone's attention... if they abided by their hours correctly I would've saved a lot of gas money driving all over the place, or like atleast change your hours online If they really were closed, Bc that poses a massive inconvenience for people when they think you're open and spend the time and money to get to your store and then aren't allowed in. I know it's annoying when people come in late but I would've been in and out in like 3 minutes and I still had 20 minutes to shop according to the hours posted online. Unfortunate. read more

Again, another problem at the self check out. I was waiting for a lady to put her items in her cart. A tall, dark haired employee appeared to be working the self check out, was standing next to me. I find out a few minutes later that he is the manager. While standing next to me, I told him that I would be needing 2 bags. He said OK and walked off. I thought he was going to get me the bags, but no, he walked to another check stand to help a lady bag her groceries. I scanned my items and still no bags. I asked a young lady, who appeared to be in a hurry to do something else, if I could get 2 bags. She got them for me with a smile in her voice and when I inquired about the guy, she confirmed he was the manager. When he returned as I was on my wait out, I asked why he didn't get me the bags. He responded that he got called away. I saw the entire thing and he was never called away. This is the 2nd time that this "manager" has walked away from me when I have asked for bags. Maybe if I was a younger female, this wouldn't be a problem. read more

Yeah, sometimes I forget just how pricey regular grocery stores are. I'm so used to shopping at Trader Joe's, Big Lots, the 99 cent store, even Sprout's on occasion, that I just hardly ever get into regular large chain grocery stores. But they didn't seem to be hurting for business to be honest, so they must be doing something to make people happy. I asked the clerk where the coffee section was and walked over there hoping to find something on sale. Unfortunately my favorite, Dunkin Donuts, wasn't on sale but other brands were and the Seattle's Best Coffee was the best value so I picked up a bag of decaf to take home. I did a little window shopping at other categories and got a little walking exercise, resisted the temptation of all the candy, cookies, donuts and desserts that I passed by, and checked out. I'm always appreciative when the clerk reminds me about coupons, discounts and rewards cards. This clerk reminded me of my Ralphs card that I hardly ever have occasion to use. Without that I probably wouldn't have gotten the good price on the coffee. I'm sure I'll be back since the store is close to other stores that I pop into when I'm in the area, but I won't be doing any heavy duty grocery shopping here. read more

I love to shop here. They double coupons (up to $1.00). Their fruits and veggies are always so fresh. They have an incredible assortment of specialty items. They also have a very attractive salad bar and Deli. The meat department is full of very helpful people. I love to shop at this Ralph's. read more

So I went in for some flowers and a gift card right around 2pm and it wasn't busy or crazy.. There was nobody at the floral dept so when she came I merely asked and very nicely at that, asked if these were the only flowers they had bc the ones I wanted were dead and pretty ratty looking. She was beyond beyond RUDE and proceeded to give me an attitude with this horrible rude look on her face, saying "umm these are fresh they just haven't opened." Ummm I'm sorry lady but I know what dead flowers look like and what fresh ones look like. When half the daisies are ripped up and falling off, they're dead! So please ppl just go down to any other grocery store where they're much nicer and not condescending like this worker. As I always say, If you aren't a people person please... don't work with people! read more

Big store however I'd like to shop there if they were more customer service oriented. I found when I shop there they cater to the hustle and bustle instead of customer service is what hat really matters. So I choose not to shop at Ralph's unless it's necessary. I find these are the circumstances in this geographical area. It seems noawgays people are such in a hurry that proficiant customer service has fallen by the wayside. Since it's really close to my house I always tend to go here for ice cream and snacks etc, I love coming here because it's normally clean and the employees have good service and are kind, that's where the "-" one star came in, at times some of them are not the kindest which can get me irritated, other then that I love their service and pricing compared to other stores, the donuts are good as well, make sure to join the rewards you'll save money on gas, why not save money on gas and on the items ‍ this will be my go to store unless they change their service to disappoint! read more

Ordered two mini croissant platters this morning by phone. Spoke to Martha who was very knowledgable and helpful. I called not even knowing what to order for a last minute luncheon and she suggested a variety of platters. We settled on the croissants. I was somewhat nervous at first, because I didn't know exactly what I was ordering and with such a short window of time. Martha assured me, I'd be pleased and she was correct. The platters were presented beautifully. Everything tasted so fresh. I received many compliments from my guests. I will definitely be using them again. Thank you Ralphs and thank you Martha! In the past few years Ralphs has definitely been my favorite supermarket in the area (even though Vons is closer) because they're open an hour later than Vons or Albertsons (used to be 24 hours before the strike of 2003 :( ) and have better prices on average. My wife and I have been very happy with their store brand products including the Fudgsicle type bars, toilet paper, and the little 89 cent microwave pizzas. Also when I come in late at night and it's less crowded, everyone working there has been super friendly, especially Norma, Corrina, and Ashley. I do agree with some issues raised by other reviewers though, such as carts scattered all over the parking lot and a lot of sales where you have to buy 4 or 5 of an item to get the best price, but overall I still like it better than Vons or Albertsons and it's definitely worth the drive down the hill to Rancho San Diego. read more

I stopped going to Ralphs because of the rude customer service in La Mesa. Obviously that store closed and after a handful of years decided to give the one in Rancho San Diego a try (neither location is convenient but the prices are nice). OMG, the customer service is amazing!! Everyone is so friendly and helpful--even if it isn't their department. The lady in floral a couple of days ago (wish I knew her name) was so accommodating. I bought a beautiful plant on clearance and she gave it to me for a terrific price. The cashiers are also sweet and personable. I am so glad I finally went in; although it's not a convenient location for me, I will definietly be going back. They are worth the drive. I cannot recommend this location enough!!! read more

This is a great grocery store. It's my grocery store of choice partly because I live pretty close to it. Everyone's really friendly and pretty efficient. Once I came during an 8 hour only sale event (gotta get my 99 cent strawberries!) and I was a little hesitant when I saw the billions of customers waiting in line. I grabbed my strawberries, got in the long line, and 60 seconds later I was up at the front paying. There are also 4 or 5 self-checkout lines and luckily a lot of shoppers are scared to use them or something because they're almost always open (even when there's big lines elsewhere.) Maybe I just get lucky. Who knows. Only negative is that their prices are hit and miss and (other than milk and produce) a lot of the products I buy are much cheaper elsewhere (like Target). I never buy anything not on sale or without my Ralph's card. Other than that, I love it. read more

Ralph's used to have very high prices...especially their produce, but that is no longer the case. The produce prices are fabulous, and it's the main reason I started shopping there again! For that, I give it a 3-star rating. I did not give it 5 stars, and here's why: 1. The service behind the deli counter is sooooo slow and takes forever. They need to have two employees behind the counter waiting on customers instead of just one, when the store is busy. It's very frustrating. 2. My biggest complaint...the parking lot! There are not enough shopping cart stalls! There's only a few of them, and they're very small and don't hold very many carts! Because of this, people just leave their shopping carts everywhere they're not supposed to be! I've literally seen carts rolling across the lot, hitting parked cars! This is not good!! Management, if you're reading this...please think about re-doing the parking lot to acquire more space for the shopping cart stalls!! Sure would be more convenient, and would cause less damage to your customer's vehicles! read more

Wow, I've been gone for three weeks and the store has been remodeled and it's scarier than you know what -- the shelves are now up five levels and it is so enclosing. Not only that, but if and when an earthquake comes, one would NOT want to be walking down one of those aisles -- it would be all over, i'm afraid. Don't feel safe shopping in there any longer.
