I've been shopping at this Ralphs for almost 15 years which is honestly why this review is so disappointing for me to write. I've given this location so many chances over the years, but at this point the customer service has become something I genuinely dread dealing with. The level of carelessness lack of communication and lack of respect we experience here is incredibly frustrating. It often feels like no one actually wants to take responsibility for helping you. Instead you get passed from one person to another with each person directing you to someone else rather than actually taking the time to listen and help. What bothers me the most is the overall attitude. We've had so many interactions where it feels like customers are more of an inconvenience than people who are simply trying to get their shopping done. There is very little warmth or willingness to go above and beyond and even basic customer service interactions can feel rushed and dismissive. I understand that grocery stores get busy. I understand that employees have a lot going on. I understand that not every interaction is going to be perfect and we definitely don't expect this. But when the same issues happen over and over again for years it becomes much harder to excuse as just a bad day. I've continued coming here because it's my local Ralphs and I've been shopping here for nearly 15 years but lately I find myself wanting to go somewhere else whenever possible almost anywhere else.. It's disappointing to feel this way about a store that has been part of my routine for so long. At this point this Ralphs has become more of a last resort grocery store for me. I really hope management takes the customer-service experience seriously because there is a huge difference between being busy and making customers feel like they simply don't matter. I'm leaving this review because I hope something changes. After almost 15 years of shopping here I would love to be able to walk into my local Ralphs and feel like my business and my time are actually valued. read more

I usually don't leave negative reviews, but my experience in the checkout lane today was completely unacceptable. The cashier, Deena, was exceptionally rude and passive-aggressive throughout my entire interaction. She constantly made condescending remarks, acting like I was stupid while scanning my items, and kept up the attitude right through to wrapping up the transaction. Having worked in customer service jobs my entire life, I know how tough dealing with the public can be. That's why I always make a point to be polite, patient, and mindful when I step up to a counter. It is deeply frustrating to be kind and respectful from the very start, only to be met with outright hostility and bad attitude for no reason at all. I sincerely hope management talks to Deena about basic customer service standards. Being decent to customers who are being nice to you isn't a lot to ask. read more

They usually have some version of whatever I need when I can't go to a preferred store. The staff tends to be friendly and helpful. Unfortunately on my most recent visit I noticed a "B" rating on the door. That's very disheartening for a grocery store, especially one in an area where the residents don't have another option. read more

Just dropped literally $100 on two bags of groceries only to be accused of stealing a 24 pk of soda that is currently on sale for $8 because I had it at the bottom of my cart during self checkout. I paid for it. I told the lady I paid for it. She refused to believe me despite my telling her several times until I showed her the receipt. Why would I pay $100 for two bags of groceries and steal $8 of soda? Between the rat problem and the ongoing atrocious customer service the only reason we shop here is because we literally have no other choice. Why do you have self checkout if you don't trust customers????? I even paid for my bags. Did I get an apology? Of course not. This market is disgusting. read more

As a customer, it was upsetting to see the store manager treating employees with disrespect. No one deserves to be spoken to in a rude or demeaning way while doing their job. I do not understand the negative reviews, I've been shopping at this Ralph's for years. Staff is always very friendly, the store is always clean and the produce department is impeccable! Note: This is for the market, not the pharmacy as listed on Yelp. I couldn't find a Yelp page for the main market. I shop at this Ralph's from time to time during my lunch break to stock up on groceries, snacks, water, and to get some coffee at the Starbucks inside. It is also very close to my workplace, so it is just convenient for me to make a stop. This location is quite spacious and stocked with so many food, essentials, and supplies. It's also clean, and there are plenty of self-checkout stations for faster purchases. The market is located in a plaza right off the freeway and is surrounded by other businesses, such as a Bank of America and ramen restaurant. Parking is decent as well. Overall, it is your average supermarket in California, so you can't really go wrong with the shopping experience. read more

Very bad experience with Irene, the store manager. She did not problem solve or de-escalate the issue. Profiled me as a thief when I was trying to explain what was the problem and did not hear me out at all. While I was trying to figure out names, she said "make sure you got names written down correctly" and speaking over customers making matters worse, making people feel uncomfortable. read more

If there was some other big chain grocery super market other than this ralphs in the area of castaic I would rather go some place else than this Ralph's due to the staff looks like they rather be somewhere else you give them a smile and they look at you with such contempt in theirs faces as if you were not welcome in the store, that is such a sad way to go about doing business .I find it so dreadful to even shop here the staff lacks character they really don't look happy working there. read more

My husband came first without me and said there was a Mexican lady that was so rude to him and when we needed something quick I told him about coming here and he didn't want too and I insisted and of course the old lady TERESA was extremely rude. There is one female in particular that works in the Pharmacy. I believe she is African-American. She's young and she is the rudest person I have ever met there. She never smiles. She's very rude when she speaks to you. I don't know why she's working there with people because she acts like she hates life, & can't stand people in general and has the worst attitude possible. If you're gonna work in a business, where you deal with people customer service you need to have a better attitude. She's the one who chose that profession not us and for her to speak and treat people the way she does is bad business and the pharmacy really needs to look at the people they hire and make sure they have the best customer service before putting them in that position. read more

I have been going to this ralph's for as long as I've lived here, so about 17 years. I really never had any issues, just used it as my typical local grocery store. It's clean and always stocked with what I have needed. However, I had a bad experience with an employee today. I typically never ask for help anywhere I shop because I would just rather find things myself, even if it means I have to walk and walk around the store finding it. But today, I wasn't feeling my best and wanted to get out of the store faster. I asked an employee working the seasonal candy section (tall, middle aged women with brunette hair) this morning for help and all I said was, "excuse me" politely to get her attention. I stood behind her and she turned around, looked me in the eyes and turned back around to continue doing what she was doing, completely ignoring me. I tried again, asking politely, and still turned around again and looked at me, and no response. I walked away frustrated after the second time. I worked in customer service for years and understand how frustrating it can be at times helping customers. However, never have made someone feel stupid for just wanting to ask where an item is located. Do better. read more

Not all, but some of the employees at this Ralphs are rude and disrespectful. The cashier today had absolutely not customer service, was argumentative and rolled her eyes at me. The manager then lied about being the manager (except her own employees pointed her out as the manager). As I was walking out, another customer told me, "don't feel bad. They're like that here." It's not worth shopping there. read more

It's the only local Grocery store. I've been a customer for many many years. The customer service has gone downhill. There a a few good employees. Over this past weekend limited employees (may be due to the poor weather). Long lines only 2 registers open. This is not the only time where long lines and limited service. Today I went in to get a few items. They were located near the top shelf. I asked for assistance to reach these items. The manager said someone would be there shortly to assist me. I waited over 10 minutes. No one came over to assist. I went over again and was not acknowledged. I left the store. read more

Watched the store manager, this tall guy with white hair, threaten to fire an employee for drinking water. The rude staff and the fact that everything I buy from here expires either the next day or the next couple days is crazy to me. Would not recommend coming here at all. The posted hours of operation indicate "OPEN" until 1am. I'm sorry but as a consumer I put faith in those posted hours of operation. So when I arrive at 12:55am and am at the entrance door that is now shut and locked ? it makes me upset to have been deceived. The service industry is not what it used to be. People assume rules can be twisted into their convenience because that's how they want it. I'm sorry but if your a service orientated business to the public. It's important that you follow your own posted rules. Respect and integrity are becoming a sparse thing from the past. i Don't know who calls the shots inside this store but I hope some level of management will read this and address those who feel it's ok to change the rules, and remind them what it means to follow the rules. It's important to at a bare minimum do the right thing when at work. Long time customer. read more

Pls fire Teresa and Liane and hire more ppl like Deena. Teresa yelled at me from across the store in front of everyone saying that I didn't pay for my groceries, when I came back to the self check out register she said "never mind". On another occasion, Liane came to override the self checkout register and she mumbled something to me and my gf, which we both didn't hear, and I asked her to repeat herself and she responded with "I already told you 3 times to move over". Going to give them another 1 star. I am a regular customer at this Ralph's, and for the most part have always had a fine experience, until today. I respect the request for wearing masks when doing any shopping, and have complied with it since it started. Today I found myself in the middle of shopping at Ralph's that I wasn't wearing a mask and didn't have one with me. I figured ok well they haven't said anything , I'm not sick or coughing at anyone I'll just quickly get my couple of items and go check out, if they give me a mask great I'll wear it. The moment I put all my food on the belt in the checkout aisle, the woman working there looked at me angrily right away and told me she is not going to help me bc I'm not wearing a mask. I told her I'm sorry I forgot my mask. She got all heated and said well you need to leave and come back with a mask I'm not helping you. That's when I got upset, I thought maybe she would offer me a mask, or be a little more understanding, instead she treated me like a horrible person and as if I was not a valuable customer. She aggressively put all my groceries to the side and told me I need to leave or go take my groceries to self check out. That's when I decided I'm going to stand my ground and not be treated like this. I told her I need to speak to the manager and she said the manager will tell me the same thing, I told her I will not be treated like this and need to speak to a manager. She turned her head and called for the manager. The manager was behind her and saw what was happening and didn't seem to be bothered, more annoyed at her associate. At that point another kind Ralph's associate brought me a mask, so I took one and put it on. Thinking ok now she'll help me, I was wrong and still she told me she will not help me. So I stood there waiting for a manager. While I was standing there she started telling other customers about the situation. The manager finally came and I told her what happened. The manager was kind and told her associate she needs to check out my groceries and that I'm complying by wearing a mask now. The lady was rude but took my groceries and finally checked me out. Is this what it has become in America? To treat others so poorly when they forget to bring a mask? I stood more than 6 feet from her and still was treated like that, put a mask on when they provided me with one, and still was treated horribly by her. As if I'm some horrible person who does not care about the lives of others. Here is the picture of what she did with my groceries while I waited for the manager. This was not handled properly. read more

Use this store often as I live close. Needed help because apparently the cherries I had needed to be weighed. An employee (likely Lean based on other reviews) was as rude and condescending as anyone I've encountered in years. Also the cherries were listed at $2.49/pound. My 2 pound bag cost $12.70. When I asked her () she told me I need a digital coupon. Feels like a deceptive practice. I didn't check the sign but I will tomorrow. Then I'll never go there again. What a miserable person. read more

Worst check-out experience! Waited more than 10 minutes for the cashier to come by to help me in self-serve checkout. Another station was closed while cashier was waiting for manager to come and clear the problem. I was on self-serve No. 5 when my machine had a problem. Had to wait and wait and wait before cashier came to fix the problem (didn't help that she kept saying, "I'll be there!"). Then, she had to count all my items. Fun...not. This is for the pharmacy. This group of folks are AMAZING!! We have delt with so many pharmacies that make you feel like you are wasting their time. They have made me feel like they were holding or RXs hostage. So the first time I delt with them, I felt it must be a one off. No! They are so helpful. Friendly and patient. They helped transfer RXs to their location. I spoke to a person! When my teenage daughter had to pick up my rx they walked her through what info they needed. Made her feel at ease. If I could give this Castaic grocery store 0 stars, I would. I was picking up a few items about an hour ago. 6:30 PM. Although I live a mile away, I never go to this Ralph's because of horrific customer service. Since I only needed a few things, and not feeling well, I decided to give it another try. I went to self checkout as there were 2 cashiers working (what a shock this is! That's the usual amount of cashiers) I was minding my business, and did not ask for anyone's assistance. For no reason at all, this worker, Theresa, comes over, acting like the food police. I made a mistake when I inputted the organic lettuce and she deletes it and enters the numbers for the Lettuce. It was $1.00 more. I had other organic produce that was entered correctly. I felt humiliated as Theresa had NO reason to come over except to embarrass me. People steal with no consequences and I had to be humiliated. I shop at Ralph's on McBean and Decoro weekly, because the customer service is great. I wanted to speak to a manager so I asked a worker if she was a manager. She said "yes but I'm going on a break go talk to that manager" as she points to a manager that was very busy bagging. Customer service is great isn't it? Imagine, not even a manager can could take a minute to talk to me. I always go to Ralph's for my groceries and I'm disgusted with the lack of training the employees have at this store. Even though I rarely shop here, it's a reflection on corporate. read more

I shop here because it's the only market near me. The managers are rude. I like to play lotto scratchers and every time I win they make me wait to cash my tickets. I hate that by eight o'clock they put a sign on the machines that they are temporarily out of business. Lotto money helps the schools so I feel that they are robbing our kids education because they are too lazy to cash tickets. Also don't ask me to go to self checkout when I'm already in line, besides it's your job to check us out. After all it's what you get paid to do. I don't get paid to check myself out. Also why do they have all young kids collecting carts? Is that all they are good for? I'm disappointed that they get away with all this. read more

This is one of the worst stores and it is a shame that this is the only one for all of Castaic and Val Verde. Most of the people are rude. I can't go shopping with my baby without getting dirty looks, or having somebody cut me off. I do get that it isn't the store's fault but it does make it hard to shop there. Another issue is that most of the people that work there are rude as well. I went in to pick up my husband a case of beer. The cashier mumbles something that I couldn't hear her. I told her. Eventually she speaks loud enough for me to hear her asked for my ID. I apologize saying that I couldn't hear her and she responded "I shouldn't have to ask 3 times." All sarcasm.
