Just dropped literally $100 on two bags of groceries only to be accused of stealing a 24 pk of soda that is currently on sale for $8 because I had it at the bottom of my cart during self checkout. I paid for it. I told the lady I paid for it. She refused to believe me despite my telling her several times until I showed her the receipt. Why would I pay $100 for two bags of groceries and steal $8 of soda? Between the rat problem and the ongoing atrocious customer service the only reason we shop here is because we literally have no other choice. I shop at this Ralph's from time to time during my lunch break to stock up on groceries, snacks, water, and to get some coffee at the Starbucks inside. It is also very close to my workplace, so it is just convenient for me to make a stop. This location is quite spacious and stocked with so many food, essentials, and supplies. It's also clean, and there are plenty of self-checkout stations for faster purchases. The market is located in a plaza right off the freeway and is surrounded by other businesses, such as a Bank of America and ramen restaurant. Parking is decent as well. Overall, it is your average supermarket in California, so you can't really go wrong with the shopping experience. read more

There is one female in particular that works in the Pharmacy. I believe she is African-American. She's young and she is the rudest person I have ever met there. She never smiles. She's very rude when she speaks to you. I don't know why she's working there with people because she acts like she hates life, & can't stand people in general and has the worst attitude possible. If you're gonna work in a business, where you deal with people customer service you need to have a better attitude. I have been going to this ralph's for as long as I've lived here, so about 17 years. I really never had any issues, just used it as my typical local grocery store. It's clean and always stocked with what I have needed. However, I had a bad experience with an employee today. I typically never ask for help anywhere I shop because I would just rather find things myself, even if it means I have to walk and walk around the store finding it. But today, I wasn't feeling my best and wanted to get out of the store faster. I asked an employee working the seasonal candy section (tall, middle aged women with brunette hair) this morning for help and all I said was, "excuse me" politely to get her attention. I stood behind her and she turned around, looked me in the eyes and turned back around to continue doing what she was doing, completely ignoring me. I tried again, asking politely, and still turned around again and looked at me, and no response. I walked away frustrated after the second time. I worked in customer service for years and understand how frustrating it can be at times helping customers. An employee (likely Lean based on other reviews) was as rude and condescending as anyone I've encountered in years. Also the cherries were listed at $2.49/pound. My 2 pound bag cost $12.70. Worst check-out experience! Waited more than 10 minutes for the cashier to come by to help me in self-serve checkout. Another station was closed while cashier was waiting for manager to come and clear the problem. I was on self-serve No. 5 when my machine had a problem. I am a regular customer at this Ralph's, and for the most part have always had a fine experience, until today. I respect the request for wearing masks when doing any shopping, and have complied with it since it started. Today I found myself in the middle of shopping at Ralph's that I wasn't wearing a mask and didn't have one with me. I figured ok well they haven't said anything , I'm not sick or coughing at anyone I'll just quickly get my couple of items and go check out, if they give me a mask great I'll wear it. The moment I put all my food on the belt in the checkout aisle, the woman working there looked at me angrily right away and told me she is not going to help me bc I'm not wearing a mask. I told her I'm sorry I forgot my mask. She got all heated and said well you need to leave and come back with a mask I'm not helping you. That's when I got upset, I thought maybe she would offer me a mask, or be a little more understanding, instead she treated me like a horrible person and as if I was not a valuable customer. She aggressively put all my groceries to the side and told me I need to leave or go take my groceries to self check out. That's when I decided I'm going to stand my ground and not be treated like this. I told her I need to speak to the manager and she said the manager will tell me the same thing, I told her I will not be treated like this and need to speak to a manager. She turned her head and called for the manager. The manager was behind her and saw what was happening and didn't seem to be bothered, more annoyed at her associate. At that point another kind Ralph's associate brought me a mask, so I took one and put it on. Thinking ok now she'll help me, I was wrong and still she told me she will not help me. So I stood there waiting for a manager. While I was standing there she started telling other customers about the situation. The manager finally came and I told her what happened. The manager was kind and told her associate she needs to check out my groceries and that I'm complying by wearing a mask now. The lady was rude but took my groceries and finally checked me out. Is this what it has become in America? To treat others so poorly when they forget to bring a mask? I stood more than 6 feet from her and still was treated like that, put a mask on when they provided me with one, and still was treated horribly by her. If I could give this Castaic grocery store 0 stars, I would. I was picking up a few items about an hour ago. 6:30 PM. Although I live a mile away, I never go to this Ralph's because of horrific customer service. Since I only needed a few things, and not feeling well, I decided to give it another try. I went to self checkout as there were 2 cashiers working (what a shock this is! That's the usual amount of cashiers) I was minding my business, and did not ask for anyone's assistance. For no reason at all, this worker, Theresa, comes over, acting like the food police. I made a mistake when I inputted the organic lettuce and she deletes it and enters the numbers for the Lettuce. It was $1.00 more. I had other organic produce that was entered correctly. I felt humiliated as Theresa had NO reason to come over except to embarrass me. People steal with no consequences and I had to be humiliated. I shop at Ralph's on McBean and Decoro weekly, because the customer service is great. I wanted to speak to a manager so I asked a worker if she was a manager. She said "yes but I'm going on a break go talk to that manager" as she points to a manager that was very busy bagging. Customer service is great isn't it? Imagine, not even a manager can could take a minute to talk to me. This is for the pharmacy. This group of folks are AMAZING!! We have delt with so many pharmacies that make you feel like you are wasting their time. They have made me feel like they were holding or RXs hostage. So the first time I delt with them, I felt it must be a one off. No! They are so helpful. Friendly and patient. They helped transfer RXs to their location. I spoke to a person! When my teenage daughter had to pick up my rx they walked her through what info they needed. Made her feel at ease. Now 3 months later, everyone we visit we have a friendly face to greet us and help us. Thank you team!! I shop here because it's the only market near me. The managers are rude. I like to play lotto scratchers and every time I win they make me wait to cash my tickets. I hate that by eight o'clock they put a sign on the machines that they are temporarily out of business. Lotto money helps the schools so I feel that they are robbing our kids education because they are too lazy to cash tickets. Also don't ask me to go to self checkout when I'm already in line, besides it's your job to check us out. After all it's what you get paid to do. I don't get paid to check myself out. I've been going to this store for over 10 years. It has progressively gone downhill. Recently when you go inside there are pallets everywhere. You can't take your cart down most isles because of the boxes and pallets. You would think with all of the boxes everywhere that the inventory would be great but they are always out of everything I'm looking for. They randomly stop carrying certain brands. This week the new thing is moving all the items in the store to new aisles. This is awesome because I really love to spend an hour guessing where they moved things. I shop at this market regularly. so normally my experience here is not bad. but today was completely different. the Checkstand payment system went down. and while these things happen, the bagger behaved as if it was more of an impostion on her than anyone else. Since we had to transition to another lane, my groceries had to be moved to the next checkstand. that's fine, no problem, but in doing so, the bagger threw my cake, ruining the icing, dropped my vegetables on the ground and waited until everything else was moved before addressing the dropped food. then I asked her if she could go get me a replacement cake since the icing was smashed. she never did, so no cake purchase. meanwhile, the 2 containers of ice cream had melted. the checker was understandably overwhelmed because she was not getting the help she needed herself. Good customer service would have replaced the dropped vegetables and cake and then offer to replace the ice cream with new containers. none if it happened. read more

This is one of the worst stores and it is a shame that this is the only one for all of Castaic and Val Verde. Most of the people are rude. I can't go shopping with my baby without getting dirty looks, or having somebody cut me off. I do get that it isn't the store's fault but it does make it hard to shop there.
