Ralph Briseno heads a family-operated concrete business, and by that, I mean there's Ralph, his wife Vivian and son, Benjamin -- all of whom are immediately available at any time to answer questions, update plans and present better -- and sometimes less expensive options. Bottom line: Ralph Briseno Concrete is all about communication. Ralph came out and gave us an estimate on the entry to our home as well as a side yard, and he was upfront in telling us he wasn't into doing a "dump and run." He told us what he thought we should do and it made sense. The cost was more than I expected, but he explained that Costa Mesa homes are built on an unforgiving clay foundation that is better served with eight-inch thick concrete and rebar. Considering the existing entry was cracked, uneven and lifted in places, we couldn't argue with his logic, and for me, peace of mind goes a long way. Ralph said the project would take a week, and the project took a week. When his largest concrete mixer broke down, he drove back to his business to get another one. No panic. Easy peasy. A while later, Vivian showed up with parts to repair the larger machine. I can't swear to it, but I think I saw this sweet woman doing the repairs herself. Both Ralph and son Benjamin were there every day, digging in with picks, shovels and trowels alongside their staff. And when they left at 3:30 each afternoon, they cleaned up the area as if we were having a party in an hour and the guests were already showing up. As you can see in the before and afters, Ralph and crew are perfectionists, and we plan to hire them in the near future to do some stucco siding on our 35-year-old home. read more

Very professional and capable family owned and operated concrete contractor. We moved into our home about 6 years ago. Every year, we would have problems with water entering our garages when we had rainstorms. I had been using absorbent barriers and towels to wring out 5 gallon buckets of water out of the garage - not fun when it's raining at 2am!!!! I had several contractors come out to look at the problem, but none seemed to come up with a reasonable solution (short of re-grading) that would not be unsightly. I found Ralph Briseno Concrete through Yelp, called and spoke with Vivian who had Ralph come out a take a look at my issue. Ralph is extremely creative with coming up with solutions to unusual drainage issues. He determined that a "swale drain" would be the most cost effective permanent solution to my garage issue. Ralph, and his son Ben, came out and efficiently completed the demolition, adding the drains, and putting in the concrete swale - all while minimizing the inconvenience of not being able to use the garages during their work. They also observed all of the COVID protocols for our and their safety. We have had two rains now since they installed the swale drains and not a drop of water in the garages! I am extremely pleased with the work Ralph Briseno performed and would highly recommend them. read more

UPDATE: Wonderful family owned and run business. I hired Briseno concrete a second time (6 years later) for major concrete work in my front yard. Like the first time I hired him. I was very happy with the work done. Ralph is very knowledgeable and talented. He and his employees are very hard working. On a personal note, Ralph l, his wife, and son are very good, trustworthy people. They are professional, friendly, and likeable. 5 stars for customer service! Vivian and Ralph were able to give me a quote with pictures and measurements I provided. It helped me make an informed decision. When I am ready to move forward with my project I will definitely use this company! Thank you Ralph and Vivian! read more

Nice people. Didn't end up using them, but they were very helpful and responsive. Thanks just the same.

Briseno Concrete just completed our home repair. It was truly a pleasure working with their team. From start to finish they were nothing but professional, from scheduling the work(arrived when they said they would), to being courteous and quick. Also, Ralph took the time to answer all our questions along the way so that we felt comfortable and confident moving forward with the repairs. I would definitely use them again for any future repairs. read more

We hired Ralph to expand our current driveway by adding a new 6' x 40' section for a camping trailer. I had done my homework and knew all the ways other contractors skimp to save a few bucks at your expense. Ralph went over the construction process and said and did all the right things (I've worked with many contractors and he's very professional). He started the job on time, he supervised every day, did everything he said he would and he finished the job early. His work was excellent and clean. I would highly recommend him and will be using him for future jobs. read more

It's nice to finally find a contractor that takes pride in his work and guarantees his work. A sink hole developed in my parking lot a few years ago. I hired a contractor to fix the problem and it came back two years later. I spoke to Ralph about it and he came out fixed the problem in one day at a fair price. Ralph is probably one of the best concrete contractors I have ever worked with. If you want a great job at a fair price call Ralph! read more

You can hire a contractor or you can hire a craftsman. Ralph Briseno is one of the latter. Ralph, his son, and their crew care about what they're doing. Their workmanship is excellent, Ralph has the experience to present cost-effective solutions to unexpected problems, and they reliably keep to schedule from start to finish. Highly recommended! read more

I had a rotting wood floor on my little condo patio, and wanted to replace the wood with something low-maintenance that looked good. Most of the other companies I called and emailed didn't respond. The ones I did talk to gave me phone estimates that were more than I wanted to spend, or were too busy to discuss and take on a small job. I talked to Vivian on the phone several times - she was kind and patient with my questions. Ralph came out to look at my patio. I like the look of wood, so he suggested a plank pattern saw-cut onto the concrete. It looks so good! Ralph explained everything, did great work, and he was considerate and friendly and great to work with. I am very happy with everything about working with the Brisenos. read more

I recently used Briseno Concrete to remove and replace a block wall that had been partially pushed over by a giant bird of paradise plant. I'm extremely happy with the results. I can't say enough about the professional and complete work that Ralph and his team performed. I really liked that Briseno Concrete took care of everything. While the primary work was the block wall removal and replacement, Ralph also handled everything else, including the plant removal, drainage pipes, stucco, paint, etc. I didn't have to hire anyone else or do anything on my own. My quote included an additional work order that would be needed if the footing required replacement, which proved to be the case. Otherwise, whenever Ralph identified something unforeseen that wasn't too major, he simply completed the work as part of the job for the original quoted price. This included, among other things, an unforeseen broken drainage pipe underneath the wall that required replacement. They worked carefully to preserve the existing cap so it could be re-installed. When he didn't like the way a portion of the cap installation looked, without hesitation he removed it and reinstalled it again to his satisfaction. It's this level of pride in workmanship, combined with his knowledge of how to do things correctly, that really impressed me. If you want to do business with someone who really understands concrete and related work, who cares about quality and has unquestioned integrity, and you want the job done correctly, then I highly recommend that you use Briseno Concrete. read more

After great results last year, we hired Ralph Briseno Concrete to do 3 additional projects; reinforcing concrete under rear patio plus two sets of concrete stairs. Ralph, Ben, and Vivian respond quickly, are very creative, professional, do great work, make sure everything is done just right, and are reasonable. Could not have a better vendor for any work that they do. read more

I hired Ralph to put a new patio in the front of my house. Ralph came out and spent like an hour and a half going over every possible scenario with me. We came up with a really great design together. Ralph ALWAYS showed up on time and clearly cares very much about the quality of his work. He would forsee problems and make sure they were addressed before any concrete was laid. We ended up including electrical outlets in three different areas. This is almost my favorite part! Except the seat walls. Which are just perfect too. He even came up with a brilliant way to hide my sprinkler valves. He built a wall around them and then covered it with two removable squares of concrete. We even put our handprints in these removable squares so we can take them with us if we ever leave this house. What I love most about working with Ralph is the fact that it is a family business. His wife Vivian handles the paperwork and shows up on the job site regularly to help out. His (adult) children are also involved in the business and are really nice and also do an amazing job. You will not regret hiring Ralph. I am VERY picky when it comes to hiring people to do work around my house -- and I literally don't have anything bad to say about the product, the skill level, the work ethic, or the price. :-) read more

Ralph and Vivian were professional, patient with my questions and completed the work in a timely manner. Ralph and his workers showed up on time and when the work was done, they cleaned up after themselves-it was as if they were never there! Ralph is clearly an expert in what he does. I'm very happy with the final product. I love that it's a family business and they only do one job at a time. I got immediate answers to any questions I had. Vivian even caught an overpayment that I made and made adjustments! They even prioritized my job because of the nature of the problem (sinkhole inching toward my property's foundation). I would definitely recommend this company for all your concrete needs. read more

Ralph and his son made a huge effort (and succeeded) in replacing and matching both the color and pattern of some concrete we needed replaced due to severe tree root damage. We saved thousands of $$ by not having to replace the entire walkway. And thank you Vivian for always returning my calls and emails so quickly. If I could rate Briseno Concrete higher than 5 stars, I would! Reasonable, reliable, and honest. read more

Thanks for everything Ralph, great work, very precise and friendly. Super courteous, I would recommend him to anyone for anything concrete related and will be calling on them for any of my future projects/needs. Thanks again guys! read more

After months of consulting with a variety of professionals about the 2 feet of water at the base of our home foundation, Ralph quickly evaluated the situation as simply a drainage problem and knew how to fix it! He showed up on time, worked quickly and neatly, and left the yard in pristine condition. There were no delays or additional costs...and his wife Vivianne was in constant touch starting before Ralph arrived and even after the job was finished! I can't say enough good things about Ralph Briseno Concrete and will definitely use him again and recommend him to friends! Definitely a 5 star company. read more

This was a complicated landscaping and large retaining wall repair and stabilization job lasting two weeks.. Ralph, the company owner, developed a unique plan and a fixed price proposal. He participated in, and supervised all the work. Due to the complexity of the job, in-process changes were made to the plan and Ralph was always flexible and clearly communicated the options. His employees were top notch, polite, hard working and always cleaned up the work area every day. This is a great family run small business and I would definitely use him again. read more

We just finished a drainage and concrete project with Ralph Briseno Concrete, and couldn't have been more pleased. From the initial bid through completion, the project went off without a hitch. Ralph is on the job himself, working alongside his skilled crew. He is extremely detailed, thorough and honest, and handled every issue that arose; rain, late dumpsters, missing city inspectors, etc., efficiently. He had a back-up plan for every possible situation. It rained 3 times in the 2 week span of our project, and his crew diligently tarped off the whole side yards and driveway expansion each time, so our pouring wouldn't be delayed. The city was supposed to deliver a dumpster he had paid for during the re-grading. While it was delayed several hours, he loaded up his truck with excess soil and hauled it to the dump himself. I could go on, but these exemplify the level of customer service and work quality he delivers. He explained every aspect of the project in detail, gave us options to suit our budget and went above and beyond in every way. His office manager, Vivian, is also in constant contact with project updates. I would highly recommend him for any drainage or concrete project, you will not be disappointed. read more
