I've driven past this place for years, always saying I'm going to try it. I finally did and it was as good as I was hoping it would be! I've been three times in a month if that tells you anything, always good food. Fast service and prices are very reasonable. They have the best chips and salsa I've ever had, it is now my go-to place when I am craving Mexican food. I've tried the chicken chimichanga plate and the steak plate so far and I have no doubt everything else is equally as good. They even have a drive through! In short: Great food, great prices, nice people, open crazy late for post-bar snacks, but...hard to find, undecorated, slow service. And despite the shortcomings (or maybe partly because of them), five stars without a doubt. This place lurks behind the A&W on the north side of 128th. Don't be like me--I got off the freeway and drove past it twice, front and back, before I figured out where the parking lot was. Hey, it was really foggy. Turn in behind the A&W and there you are. Ironically, A&W flies a big neon sign that says "All-American Food," which will guide you to Raliberto's if you let it. When you do get here, you see a small converted fast food joint. They do their best, putting up big signs and painting the windows as vividly as they can. You can drive through or dine in. When you walk in, you see a fairly dim dining room with virtually no decorations, and they might not always be super quick to bus out tables. They keep a very lean staff here, so busing isn't always job one. Don't be swayed. The food rocks. The menu is simple, and shown up on the wall with photos. Tacos, burritos, chimchangas, etc. Whatever you order, whether you order to go or to dine in, it's coming out in a stryrofoam clamshell. It's either in a bag or on a red plastic tray. They have all the basic pops from the fountain, and a couple in bottles. They also have horchata and fruit juice. You order. It's cheap. You sit down. You wait. Even when it's dead, you wait ten minutes. That's because they're making your food. They're not just grabbing it off the warming tray, they're slamming metal spatulas on the flattop and putting your food together. It's not all organic or anything, not at these prices, but it's all fresh and it's all made when you order it. Cool! What you get is great. Explosively flavorful sauces and salsa fresca, gooey cheese, chewy tortillas, and great fillings with nicely balanced seasonings and good depth of flavor. The tacos are too big to eat without scooping a few forkfuls first, the guac is creamy and tangy, the burritos are hefty and full of flavor. I love everything about this place after one visit. WOW. Let me start by saying I've experienced authentic Mexican cuisine, Tex-Mex, Cali-Mex and any other variation from Washington down to Florida and I've never had a more consistent experience. The burritos are *USUALLY* large and certainly filled to the brim with toppings. I'm a huge fan of their breakfast burritos, the potatoes are crispy inside and the ratio of meat/potato/cheese/egg is fantastic. The salsa you get with each burrito is just the cherry on top of a spectacular feast in a tortilla. The bean and cheese burritos are creamy, Hearty and oh so cheesy, every bite a true testament to the munchie power of a plain bean and cheese burrito. These can be reheated so sometimes I pick up an extra one or two to make myself at home! The rice and beans can be a tad salty on days, that tells me each chef has their own personal style and I've recognized it in the burritos as well as rice and beans. It's not a bad thing, it reminds me of a trip to Mexico with my Grandpa where everywhere you went the same recipes had tweaks to make them more special than the next. Finally. Let's discuss the coup de grâce of Ralibertos, that is the silky, creamy yet somewhat spicy Horchata. You have not had a complete meal from Ralibertos until you finish it off with a glass of horchata. The Large can be shared-- but don't try sipping mine! Been going here for a bit, quality has taken a dive, the carne asada is pre cooked kept in a large metal container, and reheated. Guacamole used to have a lot of flavor, now it's weird and tasteless like it's just smashed avocados. The hot sauces they give you are probably the worst, taste like flavored water. (Yes, even until midnight!) Once again, you can choose what protein is inside - so far I've tried the chorizo, bacon and carne asada. Coming from San Diego, California where all the good mexican food chains are at is definitely what any Californians be craving for when moving to Northwest. Found this gem when I moved here and it has been my go-to when I crave Cali burrito since there's no other place I've been so far that has it. Took my fiancé here this morning to FINALLY have him get his craving of the "Robertos" style and authentic cali burrito that he's been craving for a while. The staff are friendly...just a little slow bec there's only one person cooking but be patient--it's all worth it! I'm a little disappointed. I ordered a carne asada burrito and I asked if they could make it a "wet" burrito. You know? The burritos with sauce, cheese and salsa melted on top? I also got a large Horchata. At the microphone area they said my total was about $15. Then I get to the window and he said sorry my total was actually over $18. I was thinking "how the heck can a burrito and drink cost over $18????". I asked him why it was so much and he said it was because I asked to make my burrito wet. The extra cheese costed more. I said thanks for letting me know. I get home and my burrito is cold, there's no cheese so I don't know what extra cheese he was talking about, and it was just straight up enchilada sauce poured on top. I was very dissatisfied. This place fondly reminds me of the taco shops I used to frequent when I lived in Phoenix. Drive through or a small dining room, the food is cooked up quick and it is delicious. I lived in San Diego for 5.5 years and have to say this is as close as you're going to get to a San Diego-style taco shop in the Northwest. If you're not familiar with that type of Mexican food and you come here expecting a "traditional" American-style Mexican restaurant, you are going to be disappointed. The California burrito is great, the best in the Northwest. The only thing I changed was to add sour cream on the inside. The carne asada has the perfect flavor and the pico is not overpowering. The carne asada fries are excellent - I could have eaten the whole plate by myself (I probably will next time). My girlfriend had the rolled tacos, I wasn't very impressed by them. They were kind of dry and didn't have much flavor. The second time we went she ordered the street tacos and those really delivered. The restaurant is kind of run-down and the parking lot is weird, but the burritos and carne asada fries are well worth it. I recommend eating in or eating your food immediately after ordering it - this isn't the kind of food you want sitting around for 10 min. I will be back for more. read more
