I came across Orangetheory while searching Active & Fit. I tried out a strength class and the focus…read morewas upper body. I really enjoyed the class. I've been on the hunt for a different weight lifting class to enjoy (for variety, accountability and support) in addition to my normal gym membership. I enjoyed the noon lunch class on Monday and knowing that I received total weight training for my upper body. The staff here were extremely welcoming and helpful. The tone slightly shifted a bit when I expressed my needs to compliment an existing gym membership and routine I already have. The plans offered didn't match my preferences. I decided to explore other options.

I came for a free class. There is parking in the garages if you know where to go. The desk clerk…read moreand coach explained the workout and the equipment to me ahead of time. I loved the workout. I started on the floor, doing power and explosive movements with a little bit of rowing mixed in. It's great that they show the animations on the monitor so we can see what the proper form is for each exercise. That went about 25 minutes, followed by 25 more on the treadmill. They weren't kidding, the treadmills are easy to run on, they do absorb a lot of shock. I was able to do my last all out run at 9 mph. The coach was very engaged with us and took the time after class to explain my numbers to me, such as calories burned and heart rate. My knock is that the prices are crazy high. The best rate is $150 a month for 12 months. I really don't know how that's affordable for most people. I would like to come back, but not for that amount.

I've belonged to a lot of gyms and this Life Time is the best. It's like a fitness resort! There's…read moresomething for everyone here, and fitness equipment I've never seen before. There are numerous classes that are serious workouts. Yoga, hot yoga, stretch, etc. I'm not a swimmer, but if I was I think the swim facilities are second to none, both indoors and outdoors. The outdoor pool is awesome, and will serve adult beverages, which is a nice option. There's steam, sauna, whirlpool, and a clean and well stocked locker room. I joined as soon as I could and was there on day one. Love this place! Finally, shout out to Courtney, who is always there with a smile and exuberant hello.

I love the group fitness classes and I love that you reserve your spot in advance. They also just started a new Core Tone Reform class with reformers for regular members, and that class kicks your butt! I also really enjoy the sauna, steam room, and jacuzzis. Another benefit is the kids membership. My stepdaughter loves coming to the kids club for gymnastics, rock climbing, yoga, and more. I know that she is having fun while I'm doing a class. They have Parents Night Out on the weekends and that's such a nice perk! There's also day camps, which has saved us a few times when we needed child care during a school break. The pool is also wonderful in the summertime. The cafe food is average. I'd love it if the quality was amped up just a bit. The only thing I really ever get is the vegan PB& B shake. It's delicious! It has peanut butter, banana, cafe mocha greens, almond milk, and vegan protein powder. I haven't been to the salon yet, but it's great that this is an option. Overall, I love this gym and I would go every day if I could.

I've been weary about working out indoors so I used the trial offer that Offline had to just check…read moreit out and it lead to me signing up for a month so that I can see how I can incorporate their times into my schedule! I live about 25-30 minutes away so I'll have to figure it out! So far I think I can make this work! Sanitation wise, it's super clean and after the first class I wasn't worried at all! They've gone above and beyond to ensure that they provide a safe and clean place! This is my first time working out with a format like this! You are put through 5 different workouts that's perfectly timed, based on what the focus of the day is Momentum, Anaerobic and Durability. You are walked through the proper form for each exercise then you identify the level you wish to rotate through. I'm not the fittest but I'm working on it and so right now, I'm using the lightest weights but I can definitely work my way up. The workout is tough and you push and work! The instructor is there watching so that if they need to correct your form they do! It feels amazing after and although I'm sore, I'm never at the point to where I can't go back after a rest day!

MADabolic is great! I've taken classes so far with Emily, Sarah and Alli so far and everybody is…read morereally friendly and willing to help out with anything you might need. There's generally 3 different types of classes at MADabolic - Momentum/Anaerobic/Durability which just have a different work to rest ratio. As much as people like throwing out the phrase HIIT, MADabolic is the gym I've found that actually does the closest to applying this. Also, a unique thing about MADabolic is that it incorporates boxing into their workouts so make sure you bring boxing gloves. It's definitely a nice change of pace to be able to hit a bag once in a while. My one complaint if any is that the description of the classes leads you to believe that it goes 50 minutes but sometimes you can be in and out of there a lot quicker than that (35-40 minutes). But the workouts are tough so it feels like you were there for a lot longer! Just a nit pik thing for people who would really care. Also will note that unlike other class-based gyms where you can sort of drop in as you like and it won't make that big of a difference, MADabolic is mostly set up for you to go consistently (I think 4-5x a week is what's recommended?) I only go to MADabolic once a month because I mostly run/cycle and go to another gym near my house and use MADabolic as something to switch up the routine once in a while. If you're looking for consistent results, you probably should go more often than I do haha. Otherwise, I've enjoyed MADabolic and you should check it out if you're around downtown Raleigh!
