Healthtrax is an excellent gym with varied classes, a sauna, steam room, whirlpool, new fitness…read moreequipment and water massage chairs. The staff are what makes this gym different. The instructors include modifications for higher or lower intensity and are helpful with personal questions. I always feel like I have had a workout that not only was excellent for aerobics, muscle strength and or stretching but maintains and improves mobility for daily activities that I never think about. Love the social aspect too!

At first glance, I thought Healthtrax would be a good place for me so, as a senior, I joined…read more Overall, the gym facility is nice. However, my experience was with personal training. I was assigned to a trainer and I was very clear of my limitations due to a knee replacement. The personal training and its exercises, exacerbated my condition and I begin go experience lots of knee pain. My physician indicated I should pause the training. I spoke with the trainer, and emailed Linda, the facility manager requesting, either another trainer more suited to my needs, or a refund. The trainer got back to me and said there was nothing they could do. When I canceled my membership, Linda, eventually got back to me months later, said she would look into and call my back. Again, I heard nothing from her. Instead, she delegated to someone else who did not resolve my issue. It was more important for them to hold onto a mere $53, rather than try a retain a customer. Customer service is just as important and the product so I would not recommend this gym or its personal training.

I came across Orangetheory while searching Active & Fit. I tried out a strength class and the focus…read morewas upper body. I really enjoyed the class. I've been on the hunt for a different weight lifting class to enjoy (for variety, accountability and support) in addition to my normal gym membership. I enjoyed the noon lunch class on Monday and knowing that I received total weight training for my upper body. The staff here were extremely welcoming and helpful. The tone slightly shifted a bit when I expressed my needs to compliment an existing gym membership and routine I already have. The plans offered didn't match my preferences. I decided to explore other options.

I came for a free class. There is parking in the garages if you know where to go. The desk clerk…read moreand coach explained the workout and the equipment to me ahead of time. I loved the workout. I started on the floor, doing power and explosive movements with a little bit of rowing mixed in. It's great that they show the animations on the monitor so we can see what the proper form is for each exercise. That went about 25 minutes, followed by 25 more on the treadmill. They weren't kidding, the treadmills are easy to run on, they do absorb a lot of shock. I was able to do my last all out run at 9 mph. The coach was very engaged with us and took the time after class to explain my numbers to me, such as calories burned and heart rate. My knock is that the prices are crazy high. The best rate is $150 a month for 12 months. I really don't know how that's affordable for most people. I would like to come back, but not for that amount.

The facilities were nice and the equipment seemed new and well kept which is always a nice thing. The problem is the value, it's a little bit of a drive and not Central for where I typically am, and the cost is just astronomical. I would not consider this a gym, but more as a luxury inclusive area. It's got lots of fun amenities and I think they take good care of it for the most part, but I just can't justify the cost.

I love the group fitness classes and I love that you reserve your spot in advance. They also just started a new Core Tone Reform class with reformers for regular members, and that class kicks your butt! I also really enjoy the sauna, steam room, and jacuzzis. Another benefit is the kids membership. My stepdaughter loves coming to the kids club for gymnastics, rock climbing, yoga, and more. I know that she is having fun while I'm doing a class. They have Parents Night Out on the weekends and that's such a nice perk! There's also day camps, which has saved us a few times when we needed child care during a school break. The pool is also wonderful in the summertime. The cafe food is average. I'd love it if the quality was amped up just a bit. The only thing I really ever get is the vegan PB& B shake. It's delicious! It has peanut butter, banana, cafe mocha greens, almond milk, and vegan protein powder. I haven't been to the salon yet, but it's great that this is an option. Overall, I love this gym and I would go every day if I could.
