Pickeball courts

Overall one of the best gyms in Cary and frankly one of the biggest gyms l've ever been to. Love the spacious workout floor, basketball courts, swimming pool, etc. They've added additional hydromassages and recovery boots which are super easy to reserve through the app. However I haven't been thrilled with how the pickleball programs are run here. There aren't enough DUPR rating sessions (only once or twice a week) and there's quite a few people here who never validate the scores on the app if they lose which is really frustrating and a sign of poor sportsmanship. l've had to contact Lifetime each time because there's always someone who won't validate and frankly I'm kinda sick of it now. I usually play at the Lifetime's in NYC and they have club submit sessions where a designated Lifetime pickleball attendant will enter the scores themselves, so that these problems don't happen and I don't understand why this club won't adapt that. It's super simple and it would solve so many problems.

This Life Time has the absolute worst café of any Life Time I've ever been to before. I regularly go to the Falls of Neuse location, I also visit the Apex location which does not have a café and I also go to the Fort Worth alliance location. I've been to Life Time's in Michigan. I've been to lifetimes in California, and in Arizona. this place takes the cake for the absolute, hands-down, worst café. I hate it because this place is close to my house. All the other locations are not. Sometimes I go to the Apex location just because they don't have a café and to be honest that's the only reason I even go to the Cary location anymore. Because I hope they can finally figure out how to make me a drink. They never, and I mean, never have Almond butter. They run out of it so often that it's a surprise when they have it. Let me tell you what's frustrating about that... I did the Life Time cleanse a few times and I'm currently trying to do it again and in the Life Time cleanse they specifically tell you not to intake peanut butter, but almond butter is fine... So the place trying to help me clean up my diet doesn't stock the food that I'm allowed to eat on the damn diet. That's like if Jenny Craig had a physical store, but all they sold was donuts. Sorry... We are all out of apples. Also, when they make a shake they do not fill it up. They leave it like a 1/2 inch from being full. that stupid shake is $12 and it's not big enough for an individual, especially one that's trying to build muscle and the damn shake is called the bodybuilder shake... So to not fill it up when it's already too small is just really aggravating. Next, they never pay attention to the app... I could order my drink 15 to 20 minutes before the end of my workout and they'll still act like it's a surprise when when I get down there. I've even tried to except the fact that they suck at stocking the almond butter and I've ordered it anyway and understood that they were just substitute it with peanut butter but then when I get down there, they didn't make the shake they wanted to just ask me if it was ok to substitute peanut butter, which I guess for allergy reasons is understandable, so then there's a notes field on the app where I type in notes and I say things like fill it up or peanut butter substitute is ok... but they don't read them. So when I get down there, needing to just scoop up the shake and leave so I can get home or to work on time, the shake isn't made. They just sat there and looked at the ticket. This lifetime is terrible. The café it's just a symptom of the overall management at that place. And if this was planet fitness, were you pay $9.99 a month, no big deal... But I pay $200+ a month for this membership. I expect better.

When I brought this to the owner, his answer was "because our facility is top notch and we have a bodybuilder like atmosphere which encourages a higher level of training at our facility". The facility is not top notch. Every other anytime fitness I've been to in the area has more equipment and is cleaner. They also are never any help when you come to them with questions about your "contract". I got a new credit card and needed to remove my card that was expiring from my payment method. The process was impossible. 2 weeks passed before anybody could give me an answer on how to change my payment method. Then, when it finally got switched, I got hit with late fees and a service charge totaling over $100. An absolute joke of a gym. Stay away at all costs.

I have been a Planet Fitness Cary client since 2018. I took a brief hiatus during COVID but…read morereturned once the facility reopened. I think that we have had a very good relationship. There was a time when folks at the front desk knew my name, and we exchanged pleasant salutations during check-in and check-out. Two weeks ago, I fell on the ice and broke my knee. I am having surgery next week and will not be able to work out until mid-July. I decided to pause my Blackcard Membership until July of this year. Well, that is when my road to perdition started. First, I tried to accomplish this task online. It is 2026, and most businesses allow clients to transact business online. Not Planet Fitness. The chaotic web client insisted that I call a toll-free number to accomplish this task. Ok, I contacted an individual in their offshore call center. Now, Mephistopheles was not his name, but I knew what he was up to just the same. After asking me why I wanted to modify my membership and other non-sequitur questions, he told me that he could not fulfill my request. He stated that he was not authorized for such transactions. I would have to call another toll-free number and talk to someone else who "could also not help me." Well, that made our ten minutes on the phone most worthwhile. After calling the second toll-free number and connecting with a domestic call center, the outcome was eerily similar. After discussing the issue for about 5 minutes, I was told that I would have to go to the facility, broken knee and all, and modify my membership there. So, I got a ride, broken knee and all, to the facility over the 5 kilometers. At this point in the never-ending story, my personal Dante's Inferno, my goal was to cancel the membership. So I did. The personnel at the front desk were extremely rude and showed no concern when a patron walked in with crutches and an extensive knee stabilizing unit. No "how are you today, sorry to see your misfortune," or even a hello. Just "matter of fact" if you want to cancel, cancel. OK!! My goal at the beginning of Gulliver's Travels was to suspend the membership until my knee allowed me to return. Now, my relationship with this business is over. When my recovery allows me to return to a gym, it will be to Life Time Fitness or some other quality establishment that knows how to treat clients. If I could give the Cary Planet Fitness a rating lower than one star, I would. Be very cautious of the facility! Any business that makes it this difficult to modify or cancel a membership cannot be on the up and up! Some people look at the price and ignore the value-added proposition. Sure, the price may look great, but the customer service and crowded conditions challenge the value proposition. Look before you leap, the Judgement Free zone is also a "customer-service" free zone! While I still have much to explore, this review is going to based off of my first impressions…read more Walking in, the facilities are modern, clean, and expansive. So far I've really only been to the locker room and the main lifting area (I'm assuming) on the ground level. The front desk staff has been friendly, and there is a store I want to explore on the right as you walk in (heard good things). It's clear both inside and from the outside that there is much more to the building but that will be for as time progresses. Very much a "lifters" gym due to the vibes, the color palette is fairly dark and muted, primarily consisting of various shades of gray and black with an occasional red accent. On the wall there is a large mural of two bodybuilders, next to a 16 tv array display showcasing the game, or Ronnie Coleman lifting videos. On the floor there is a plethora of equipment, truly anything any lifted would need or even really want. The space is large, and with that packed with equipment while maintaining healthy spacing between pieces, which is very much appreciated. When it gets busy there may be a tad wait for some pieces but that is anywhere, and very reasonable. Staple workout pieces have multiples such racks and benches, and so for those it's fairly unlikely you will have to really wait. The equipment is modern, clean, and seems to be well maintained. The one qualm I have, which very well may be just due to me going later in the day, is the inconsistency of the weights. There are plenty of weights available, but they vary in size/brand/type a lot. Most seem to be iron, but the brands vary so even if the same weight, the sizes vary slightly. Now I don't necessarily mind loading up a bar "asymmetrically", but at the same time it would be kinda nice if I could have matching plates. I understand this is a small and insignificant thing, just one I noticed, and something that could also be very much due to gym goers moving stuff around. If you're going to the gym primarily to lift, I'd likely recommend this gym.
