I've belonged to a lot of gyms and this Life Time is the best. It's like a fitness resort! There's something for everyone here, and fitness equipment I've never seen before. There are numerous classes that are serious workouts. Yoga, hot yoga, stretch, etc. I'm not a swimmer, but if I was I think the swim facilities are second to none, both indoors and outdoors. The outdoor pool is awesome, and will serve adult beverages, which is a nice option. There's steam, sauna, whirlpool, and a clean and well stocked locker room. I've been going to Lifetime Fitness Cary for about 4 years. Yes it's expensive, but I feel like it's worth it. I love the group fitness classes and I love that you reserve your spot in advance. They also just started a new Core Tone Reform class with reformers for regular members, and that class kicks your butt! I also really enjoy the sauna, steam room, and jacuzzis. Another benefit is the kids membership. My stepdaughter loves coming to the kids club for gymnastics, rock climbing, yoga, and more. I know that she is having fun while I'm doing a class. They have Parents Night Out on the weekends and that's such a nice perk! There's also day camps, which has saved us a few times when we needed child care during a school break. The pool is also wonderful in the summertime. The cafe food is average. I'd love it if the quality was amped up just a bit. The only thing I really ever get is the vegan PB& B shake. It's delicious! It has peanut butter, banana, cafe mocha greens, almond milk, and vegan protein powder. I haven't been to the salon yet, but it's great that this is an option. I only went twice and that was on a guest pass, I say that the service was not exceptional, but they were quite nice and it made for a pleasant experience. The facilities were nice and the equipment seemed new and well kept which is always a nice thing. The problem is the value, it's a little bit of a drive and not Central for where I typically am, and the cost is just astronomical. I would not consider this a gym, but more as a luxury inclusive area. It's got lots of fun amenities and I think they take good care of it for the most part, but I just can't justify the cost. read more

I only went once with my friend who had a guest pass. I really enjoyed my time here with all the amenities. The worker was super nice and gave us an in depth tour and answered all of our questions even the silly ones. I got to experience this gym area.I was able to see the relaxation chair and also enjoy the sauna and the pools. I spent many hours here and I felt really relaxed afterwards. I even ate the food there which wasn't bad.It was convenient to be able to eat without leaving the gym. I do think it could be more space for the actual gym area itself. I also was sad that the pickle ball court were close the day I went. I can see the appeal of going to lifetime. Sadly, it's just a bit pricey and not in the most ideal location for where I live. If it was closer to like holly springs then, I would be more likely to have a membership. Because for a couple, it's over three hundred a month. I also wish lifetime provide trial passes as it hard to judge by a tour alone or finding someone who had a guest pass. Overall one of the best gyms in Cary and frankly one of the biggest gyms l've ever been to. Love the spacious workout floor, basketball courts, swimming pool, etc. They've added additional hydromassages and recovery boots which are super easy to reserve through the app. However I haven't been thrilled with how the pickleball programs are run here. There aren't enough DUPR rating sessions (only once or twice a week) and there's quite a few people here who never validate the scores on the app if they lose which is really frustrating and a sign of poor sportsmanship. l've had to contact Lifetime each time because there's always someone who won't validate and frankly I'm kinda sick of it now. I usually play at the Lifetime's in NYC and they have club submit sessions where a designated Lifetime pickleball attendant will enter the scores themselves, so that these problems don't happen and I don't understand why this club won't adapt that. This Life Time has the absolute worst café of any Life Time I've ever been to before. I regularly go to the Falls of Neuse location, I also visit the Apex location which does not have a café and I also go to the Fort Worth alliance location. I've been to Life Time's in Michigan. I've been to lifetimes in California, and in Arizona. this place takes the cake for the absolute, hands-down, worst café. I hate it because this place is close to my house. All the other locations are not. Sometimes I go to the Apex location just because they don't have a café and to be honest that's the only reason I even go to the Cary location anymore. Because I hope they can finally figure out how to make me a drink. They never, and I mean, never have Almond butter. They run out of it so often that it's a surprise when they have it. Let me tell you what's frustrating about that... I did the Life Time cleanse a few times and I'm currently trying to do it again and in the Life Time cleanse they specifically tell you not to intake peanut butter, but almond butter is fine... So the place trying to help me clean up my diet doesn't stock the food that I'm allowed to eat on the damn diet. That's like if Jenny Craig had a physical store, but all they sold was donuts. Sorry... We are all out of apples. Also, when they make a shake they do not fill it up. They leave it like a 1/2 inch from being full. that stupid shake is $12 and it's not big enough for an individual, especially one that's trying to build muscle and the damn shake is called the bodybuilder shake... So to not fill it up when it's already too small is just really aggravating. Next, they never pay attention to the app... I could order my drink 15 to 20 minutes before the end of my workout and they'll still act like it's a surprise when when I get down there. I've even tried to except the fact that they suck at stocking the almond butter and I've ordered it anyway and understood that they were just substitute it with peanut butter but then when I get down there, they didn't make the shake they wanted to just ask me if it was ok to substitute peanut butter, which I guess for allergy reasons is understandable, so then there's a notes field on the app where I type in notes and I say things like fill it up or peanut butter substitute is ok... but they don't read them. So when I get down there, needing to just scoop up the shake and leave so I can get home or to work on time, the shake isn't made. They just sat there and looked at the ticket. This lifetime is terrible. The café it's just a symptom of the overall management at that place. And if this was planet fitness, were you pay $9.99 a month, no big deal... But I pay $200+ a month for this membership. I expect better. read more

Be careful going to this gym during evenings because my car was parked here from 8:30pm to 10pm and I come out to the window being smashed. The security here is not working, as the security should be patrolling the area keeping an eye on the vehicles. This gym membership cost more than any gym membership for the security to not do its job is very disappointing. I asked for camera footage to see, understandably it's confidential but very upset over this happening at a gym parking lot. Been with lifetime for more than 15 years. Facility is fantastic, convenient when you travel, they maintain it to a larger extent. But group classes are a mess, their attrition rate is very high, No one stays past 3 months, Spa is another mess mismanagement underpaid staff and politics supposedly rules the place.And if you dont please your intructors They dont pay attention to you Even though you pay extra to take those classes. read more

Been a member for a few months, I originally go to Raleigh location but moved recently so I had to come to the Cary location. + let me say this I love LT + all it offers honestly for me + my child! But I had to go back to the Raleigh location drive the extra 10 min preferably because we went for a week n so to Cary there was 3 machines that were not working properly or lose. Weights + machine area looks dirty/old (I know it's LT first location) but the $$ we pay for the membership you'd expect them to keep the place well maintained. Not many offered classes either compared to Raleigh. My 3yr old did not like the kids academy either, she'd complain + make it difficult to go to Cary for the whole week or so we went. We didn't have that issue in Raleigh before we moved. Hopefully corporate works on that location one day! Staff at reception was very friendly though!! read more

Their requirement to keep a membership for a "digital" membership while the gym was open and I legitimately can't go to the physical location was annoying. And they didn't require masks in the gym unless required by law. Not really health-conscious as much as money-conscious. When it was open, the folks who worked there were super nice. Overall, I'm very happy with Life Time. The staff is very friendly, workout areas are clean, and has tons of options. The staff, friendliness of members, great facilities and variety of options keeps me here. Although the weight machines / benches are in "working condition" they are old and have tons of miles on them. After speaking with other members, "Life Time Cary has plans to replace them." Apparently this has been said to members for the last few years. For the price point, I'd expect better weight machines. Planet Fitness has better options to be perfectly honest. Would love to see them update them soon. Locker room: there are several broken lockers. Drives me insane. At least put a sticker on it saying it's "out of order." During busy times, the 18-30 age group loves to leave their damn towels everywhere. Outside of these points, Life Time has the best offering in the area. read more

Appalling customer service and equipment that is worn and poorly maintained. My girlfriend and I have been members here for about 2 months and have just had the worst experience we've ever had at a gym. Also the rock wall barely has any open hours. My girl friend was stared at by one of the female employees in her locker room while she was getting undressed and when she was about to go take a shower the employee approached her and very rudely told her that she could not take a shower and had to put on whatever she had and leave the building. This was right at 10pm and what's crazy is while I was waiting outside the locker rooms , AFTER I TOOK MY SHOWER AND WAS AROUND 10:20pm SOME FEMALE EMPLOYEES WALKED OUT THE LOCKER ROOM ASKED ME IF I WAS WAITING FOR SOMEONE AND THEN KEPT WALKING. AT THAT TIME THERE WERE STILL MEN IN THE MENS LOCKER ROOM. When I checked my phone I saw the text from my girlfriend about what happened and that she was outside. The gym closes at 10pm on Saturday. She was in the pool and I was in the gym. She left the pool at exactly 10pm, I finished my set when they announced they were closing and left the gym sometime around 10:07pm. We both went straight to our respective locker rooms when leaving the pool and gym. When I went into the locker room plenty of other men were still getting dressed and taking showers, I went to take a shower and while taking a shower (maybe started around 10:13) I was told that I had about 10 minutes till they were closing up. Clearly women are treated differently here than men. With the terrible customer service and the fact that a lot of the machines are in poor shape I'm thinking this may not be the high end fitness club that they claim to be. read more

I am a member for around 2 years. I love exercising and enjoy the classes. My preference for healthier classes is to do Les Mills and other HIT classes, which are not offered. And to turn the volume down. You go to get fit not to destroy your hearing. What caused me to write this today is the 15 minutes I wasted in the snack bar picking out the correct protein powders that I was told was on sale for the month of December. So why at the register did I not get 30% off???? I had to ask 3 people and then I was told they were only on sale one day, yesterday. This is an example of how Lifetime is a big moneymaking venture at the expense of the consumer. And I usually buy there $50 protein powders, but when told it is on sale and it is not, it makes me disappointed in the corporation. read more

Music volume is way too loud to the point of ruining workouts. And now, our club music goes from super high to super low every 3 min. Staff says it is controlled by corporate and I'm sure this is correct. Corporate needs to do a survey. It would confirm no one wants your terrible music and volume. This is crazy. Staff is friendly, trainers are awesome...Indoor lap pool, outdoor lap pool, indoor hot tub, outdoor hot tub, indoor kids pool, outdoor pool for kids and adults with 2 water slides and lots of lounge chairs to get some Sun. 2 indoor full court basketball courts, Rock climbing wall, racquetball courts, spa, cafe, Sauna, steam room in the locker rooms with plenty of showers, spinning classes, and multiple studios for other classes, kids center...I can go on and on. Lifetime Cary has closed men's showers for most of December. Could have closed part of the showers while they do the work, instead closed off all showers and access to the pool area from the men's locker room. This could of been done a lot better. I attended the one in Ga and it was spectacular loved working out me and my grandson all the free weights and machines that were needed to build, and the amenities were super also. They'd have free towels to shower afterwards even had razors and shaving cream also soap and shampoo! They have meals to eat also all types of healthy shakes! Absolutely an amazing gym! 24hr fitness in Orlando Florida was the only gym compatible to this gym either or and your doing just fine! I promise!!!! read more

I became a Life Time member a few years ago and used the Cary location several times for short terms as I was on break from college. I would drop membership when I went back and I just became a member again. Well I ran into some problems with the app not being exactly user friendly and needed some help, so I called the customer service number and was informed that I had to wait 3 days to have my account opened up. I didn't understand how the account couldn't be opened, so when I visited the Cary location later that day I asked at the front desk and Andrew immediately stepped up and was extremely helpful, easy to communicate with, and had a great attitude. He got a reset password link sent and a card to scan in for me in less than 5 minutes. I walked away with a smile because it's never that easy and customer service is rarely that good. Love love love Lifetime Fitness. The rock-climbing wall is tons of fun; there are great cardio and yoga classes; and of course, they have a cafe with awesome smoothies and entrees (all fresh/organic/etc). I've also gotten my hair cut in the salon with an excellent stylist. This place basically has everything. I was told by a trainer there that they're building a platinum club (the Cary LT is gold) in north Raleigh. What could they possibly do to make it better than the one in Cary? Minor complaint - no toilet seat covers in the upstairs bathroom. Otherwise, fantastic gym with great people. read more

I have stopped going to your place for fitness and swimming since the new coronavirus pandemic (March 15). Later, the governor ordered the gym to be closed. It was only partially opened recently. I haven't been there because of my old age (62), and I didn't dare to go. You can check the records, but you suddenly charged $98 from this month without notice. I have called you many times to ask to quit the membership, but no one answered the phone and no messages were returned. I think this approach is too wicked. I haven't gone for a whole day. There is also a virus that is still in high incidence. You should not collect money. You should not secretly transfer it from my credit card without telling the person. I hate the recent upgrade. There is no clear path to walk anywhere any everything is shoved together. It is like running a gauntlet to try to get anywhere. Bigger, nicer and friendlier than the one I am used to going in NJ. It's clean, lots of cardio machines and better selection of weight machines. Prices on protein shakes are the same which surprises me. Best part is my membership is valid down here as well (apparently my basic NJ membership is considered high level in NC). I am a Founding member since it opened in 2006. Yes over the recent years it has declined in cleanliness and maintaining machines in the like new order. They have many pieces with handles rubbed off, limited 20lb dumbbell, the same rotating step mill broken for the past 5 months, and the locker and bathrooms are dirty, supplies not available but being paid for, especially as today every stall without Toilet paper, most disturbing. This is the Men's locker room. Hopefully they can get it together and quit blaming supply chain or lack of workers, I see plenty walking around each day. read more

4 months since my first review downgrading to 2 *. Just raised my membership fee another $5, to" provide me the best experience" LOL. Only one of the six Precor AMT machines works correctly and they have a disgusting amount of rust on them. In my opinion all of the investment in the club is for group personal training. They show a disregard for the rest of the gym. Still missing the 75 lb hand weight (2-3 years now) and the other hand weights are in serious decline. Many of the weight/resistance machines and are very old and in poor condition. I'm not seeing the extra $5/month every year being spent on components I care about. I am asking myself is this club $90 a month better than Planet Fitness. not sure read more

Nice gym with many options to exercise. We have been going for a couple years now and have been happy.

Made two nail appointments at the spa and both were cancelled. Finally got in & had a VERY underwhelming pedicure. The massage was a minute on each leg (if that) & the callus/dead skin removal was basically nonexistant. I expect to have soft feet at the end of a $46 pedicure & there was no difference because of how very (very) little filing she did. The massage chair was repetitive and not particularly comfortable. The pedicure lasted 50 minutes but was scheduled for an hour & 15. The polish looked nice but overall I would not come back. My usual nail place is $35 & the pedicures are 100x more involved. Been a member here for 10 years pay my monthly 145.00 and the place is packed most of the time so one would think that Lifetime could keep the water fountains working properly and I mean not just one but all of them. Really guys can't afford to maintain the water fountains huh. It would be really nice to get a fresh cool drink of water after a long workout but I guess the clowns who run this place think that a warm low pressure drink from a half clean water fountain is good enough. My husband and I joined in January 2020, excited about the large gym and all the things they have available, as well the hot tubs! We went every day 4x week until the pandemic shut it down. We froze our membership for as long as we were allowed and then ultimately cancelled it. Here were my impressions while we did our 3 months going 4x week: PROS - huge gym with lots of machines, classes, pools, racquetball courts etc - locker rooms, showers, and some private dressing rooms - good cafe on premises with smoothies and food (I only had the smoothies) - easy parking in a massive lot - I never had any problems with crowding, but we also tended to go off-peak in the evenings. CONS - very expensive per month - the outdoor hot tub is ONLY open when it's hot outside when you won't want to be in it because it's so freakin hot and humid in NC; extremely disappointing. The outdoor hot tub should be open year-round, or at least all months except Jan/Feb. The indoor hot tubs are large but they are indoors and I hate indoor ones; whole place smells like chlorine and it's just no good. Also the pool area did not seem particularly clean. Needs much better maintenance and upkeep. - Locker rooms need more regular cleaning. When we'd go toward end of the day (after 8 pm, the bins were overfilled with used towels; no reason someone couldn't more frequently empty them. -threadbare rug in the lobby. Come on, people! With the membership dues you charge, there should be nothing threadbare or old and used looking in this gym. We were sad when the pandemic happened and stopped all our fitness progress for quite a while; we were really on a roll! Wanted to really love Lifetime but with the huge fees and substandard cleaning and maintenance, AND the extremely limited months the outdoor hot tub is open, we didn't think it was worth coming back. read more

Update: Since this review, the club is receiving a very minor refresh. Based on this club and its current condition, Life Time does not take pride in offering anything of high quality besides their endlessly increasing fees. This club is poorly maintained (see photos of rusting and terribly damaged equipment) and potentially hazardous to your health. Check ALL equipment thoroughly before use because you may end up with an infection or injury. My crew and I look forward to swabbing various surfaces in this club to test for the presence of MRSA and various other contagions. We suspect that we will find contamination in excess of 87,000 ppm on most surfaces. To compare, your toilet seat at home probably comes in at 370 ppm. The men's locker room smells putrid, based on off-peak nighttime hours so imagine the odor at 1700-1800! Locker interiors are rarely cleaned also. Whoever the regional manager is clearly needs to be part of a corporate restructuring where he/she/it is let go due to compatibility, performance and ethics issues. There are bronze and gold clubs (especially down in Georgia) that are in much better shape than this pathetic "platinum" club. It is a pathetic shame to Life Time. Place the fact that I'm a diamond member and I've been forced to accept this trashiness along with my $140/month membership. I seriously need an account credit! Dear corporate robot that replies to all reviews with the same "oh, I'm so sorry" sardonic violin bullsh--: Don't reply to this review because it's just so sad and stupid that you waste your time typing out such ridiculous nonsense that serves absolutely no useful purpose whatsoever. No reply or canned apology can possibly make up for the crap one can see during a 25 second walk through at this club. The best thing that could happen to this club is a critical support beam failure that would cause it to fold into itself and destroy all its crap equipment...
