Absolutely will never schedule another appointment here again. I waited over 1 hour 45 min min to be seen for an appointment. This office is dingy and needs a deep cleaning at the very least, but a complete renovation or new location is totally warranted. Fixtures were covered in a thick layer of dust, ceiling tiles were bowed and had water stains, air vents & returns appeared to be clogged with dust (I left there with a sore throat and stuffy nose from the poor air quality), walls had holes from things that previously hung there but were never repaired, optical equipment appeared to be original to the office (decades old), front desk staff was very loudly conducting personal conversations amongst themselves. Find a better practice. read more

I had cataract surgery on April 1st performed by Dr. Hunt of the Raleigh Eye Center. I could not be happier with the results! Everyone in his office was very friendly and professional. They explained everything to me and answered all my questions regarding the procedure and told me what to expect. I was initially afraid of procedure and feared the outcome but the actual results exceeded all expectations. Doctor Hunt is truly a master of his craft. I went to have my eyes examined and get a prescription for contacts. The office people were more unhelpful than I get other places, but I wouldn't write about that. However, people need to know about competence. The doctor was very friendly and appeared nice, but ultimately I realized she wasn't listening to the information I was giving her. I still wouldn't write. On the way home my eye started to hurt, and then more so, I called and they told me to come back in. By this time I was in so much pain I could barely see so had to find a way to get there. The doctor saw me after 45 minutes and then cheerfully announced that the contacts she gave me didn't fit my eye balls. Seriously. I have been getting contacts for 25 years and part of the process is that they measure the contour of the eye. I have been refused contacts that I wanted because they didn't fit. The question, of course, is why didn't this woman, who had just examined my eyes used the technology to tell her how to give me the correct prescription? She was still in that 'sweet' and giggly posture, so I didn't ask that question. The coldness of the staff mattered a whole lot more when I returned and they weren't helpful. Be care but if you go there, or anywhere, I guess, make sure that they have measured the contour of your eyeball. I could have been killed on the way home, if I hadn't been able to get back I would have had a real mess. read more

After my eye surgery my sight was VERY blurry (still is weeks after surgery) and I was projectile vomiting. I called the office multiple times and I could never get through to anyone. It was a week before I was actually able to speak with someone who could not have cared less. The staff was apathetic, dismissive and and had ZERO compassion or concern. I had a Botox procedure performed for an eye twitch. Dr over filled so I couldn't close my eye for 2 weeks: I had to manually force it closed which in turn caused dry eye, It also effected my vision so I couldn't drive. If I could leave ZERO stars I would. I took my elderly mom to see Dr Joyner; we had a 1:20 appointment and arrived 15 minutes late. My mom recently had a stroke and is a little slower getting around, plus I couldn't find their basement office after we parked in the upper parking lot. So we were a little bit late. The front desk person was so dismissive of us, keeping my mom waiting until 2:45! OVER ONE HOUR WAITING! I never experienced something so rude at a doctors office. My mom is disabled and tired and I kept asking when she would be seen. After one hour I started to show my frustration but the front desk kept dismissing me, saying because we were late they were "working us back into the schedule". Are you kidding me? NOW THEY DECIDED TO TELL ME? They kept on taking all these other patients for Dr. Joyner ahead of us. The people that I saw come in much later than us. We would have never have waited had we known it would take so long. I asked to see the office manager so I could explain what happened to us. You know what they gave me? A business card of Rebecca Wilson, and told me I could just call her. Not a way to treat your client. We will never be going back to this office again. RUDE! My mom wasn't seen by Dr Joyner until 3:25. Stay away from this place if you value your time and your family. read more

I was extremely disappointed in the service I received on my initial visit. Due to COVID shutdowns and a loss of insurance during layoff periods it had been 2 years since my last visit and I was in desperate need of a professional evaluation. Dr. Wrzosek was the reason I chose the office based on his expertise. First off the check-in was very antiquated and the office was extremely dingy...typical for Durham, right?!!? I had to fill out a lot of repetitive paperwork that made me question why I was at a place where there was no process to complete paperwork online in advance. When I was seen, the optometrist couldn't get my prescription right. The tool she used to get my prescription right just blurred my vision completely and I started feeling like the training in the office was subpar...to the point of considering walking out. After I questioned the whole procedure she just pretty much gave up and asked for the doctor to do it. I was moved to another room for the doctor. As soon as the doctor came in his computer crashed....literally died. He grabbed a laptop and tried to pull up the optometrist data and nothing was there! So he started doing everything but was more concerned about his dead computer than his patient...at least in my opinion. I had a $60 co-pay (of course) just to get a prescription on the visit. I booked the appointment to be a consultation with an ophthalmologist AND to get a new prescription. My previous provider offered an all-in-one service. I got my paperwork and was happy to leave. Then I tried to order glasses online. My prescription is completely wrong! The values on my $60 piece of paper were not even prescription selections. I called the office in Durham and was transferred somewhere else due to "staffing shortages". The lady the answered from the optical department was very short and rude but at least she told me that my prescription was completely wrong. She transferred me to an answering machine and I left a message. That's where I'm at and I'm furious not only at this office but at doctors and medicine in general. What a scam! I'll be starting over 100% and going somewhere close to home. I will be writing this same review everywhere I can because that office needs to rethink its practice, business plan, and customer service! Dr. Wrzosek's kindness is the only reason it got a star. He seemed knowledgeable but rushed. That's the part I hated. read more

Update to visit in 2019. Day before Thanksgiving is not the time to have an appointment. Check in was again efficient. Waited 15 minutes for tech to do preliminary activities but had to wait one hour for doctor once the first activities were completed. Expertise seems good. If the total wait time was 30 minutes or less and not 75 minutes this would be five star. read more

Just to help other parents that have a child with ASD or will not wear a mask. My 3yr old is on the autism spectrum and will not wear a mask so they would not allow him to attend his appointment because it is their policy. This was a referral from his pediatrician. Make sure you call and ask when appointment is made, just in case they change their policy. read more

I've been going to Dr Boliek for years now. I just had cataracts removed and IOL inserted. The entire staff followed the COVID 19 rules and I felt very comfortable. Dr B is always very knowledgeable and takes his time with me. The surgery was successful and I'm glad I had it done. Would recommend this office and doctor for any of your eye needs. read more

I had a very good experience with Dr. Board. I had severe pain in my eye and had no idea what was going on. Went to a primary care dr and the referred me to this center. This was after 2pm. Raleigh eye called me at 4 and said if I could get there in 15 minutes, I could be seen. Unfortunately I live about 25 minutes away. I communicated to them what severe pain I was in and they put me on hold and asked if the dr would stay late to see me. Dr Board agreed. I was not a regular patient but will be now. And btw Dr. board is a peds physician and d I'm in my 50s. There was no rush to get me out. Really grateful for him and the team!! read more

Horrible experience with this office, they gave my son a new Pt. appt for 5:20 pm almost two months in advance. We confirmed the appt. and so did they through an email and voicemail, everything seemed great. I had requested to leave work earlier that day it ended up not going to work because he had an ear infection and was put on antibiotic the night before; however I didn't want to cancel that same morning so I got my child ready and drove to our appt. with plenty of time which was nice as I had to stop on the side of the highway because my son wouldn't stop crying (he was clingy from the medicine I think) I settled him and kept driving. We arrived at 5:08 only to find out that they close at 5 o'clock. I called and was transferred to their phone emergency service and the operator told me that place is only open until 5 o'clock M-F that it was imposible for me to have gotten an appt. for 5:20 PM, at that time I was afraid I might have confused the month or day but definitely not the time because I remember being overly happy when I asked for the latest appt. in the afternoon and she said 5:20... I said "really?!!! they will see a new Pt. At that time?" She said yes and I was very happy. Anyways I went home angry, Driving with watery eyes because I could have kept my baby at home instead been responsible and taking him even though he wasn't at his best. The next day I called and the front desk lady listened to me like I was crazy and said I'll transfer you to our office manager and all I heard was "please leave a msg..." It has been almost 3 weeks and I haven't heard from them. Needless to say I asked my pediatrician to send my referral to another office and think twice before sending another Pt. to them. read more

Had an appointment set months in advance for my toddler. Confirmed with a call from their office the day before the appointment. Showed up 15 minutes early for said appointment (after walking about a half mile from a distant parking lot in the rain, because there were ZERO near the office) only to be told it was for the following day. Everything I had written down, the confirmation call, all of it meant nothing to their office receptionist. The woman at the front was rude and asked if I wanted to reschedule! I mean get real, why on earth would I want to make another appointment only to come back and have the same thing happen? It was like a Seinfeld episode...they know how to take the reservation (appointment in this case) they just don't know how to hold them. Personally, I think if the doctor is cutting corners by paying for an incompetent and underqualified staff, then they must be cutting corners on the care of patients as well. I suggest a better staffed and more competent doctors office. Perhaps one that also offers parking within a reasonable distance also. read more

Recently, one person who assisted in my appointment was Taylor. I asked lots of questions about a potential surgery and my particular eye issues. Well if i could do less than one star i would. Scheduled a procedure for lasik with Dr Rosen and right if the bat i had a off feeling with the dr. He left out all kinds of details about the procedure. Details about the preop care or postop care i would need. Long story short i was very uncomfortable with having the procedure done here. The day of my procedure they canceled due to a issue with the machine needing maintenance. I took this as a sign and got a second opinion where the surgeon told me i was not a good candidate for lasik and recommended a different procedure PRK. Dr Rosen told me they would call to reschedule me when the machine was fixed the next thing i heard from them was 3 weeks later when they called to verify my apt for surgery in 2 days. They never even called just scheduled a apt without even telling me about it. I did end up having PRK with Porter Ophthalmology in Raleigh and would highly recommend them for any procedure you are planning service there was top notch. read more

I had cataract surgery on Friday morning. I developed some disconcerting symptoms afterward, but they close early on Friday so I couldn't reach the office. The nurse had said (earlier in the day) that she would give me the doctor's contact info in case of an emergency, but she didn't. I called the answering service FIVE times and never got the doctor on-call to call me back. I wish I'd never had cataract surgery and especially not with Raleigh Eye Center. Was referred to this from our pediatrician due to eye concerns for my four year old. He has a really hard time with doctors and on the way he threw up because he was feeling so nervous. I called the office to let them know how nervous he was and to be understanding of it when he is seen. They hung up, called me back to reschedule because he was sick. I said he's not sick he's just nervous, he does this often with doctors and since we haven't seen you before I wanted to let you know. They asked if he would throw up in the office and I said most likely not because I think it's all out now but he will continue feeling nervous if you can make him feel comfortable there. Then they asked me to hold. Another lady came on the line and tried to reschedule me for another day "since my son was sick" and I finally said I would never take a sick child in to be seen for eyes I just want them to know how nervous he is and that's it. And then they tried to say it was up to me to continue or not and it could just be his age for the problems they saw on the notes. So I said it seems like you made the decision for me and we are not going to be seen today. They then assured me they see special needs kids and young kids and are understanding but I felt and heard nothing understanding from them. Defiantly communicating this to our pediatrician and asking for another referral to a place that is understanding of unique kid situations with seeing new doctors! read more

First time being here and we found it by going through our insurance. Called and was told that they can see us because they take our insurance. When I walked in they were so polite but we were confused why our questions could not be answered when asked. They kept saying, " all concerns will be answered by the next person." Passed us on three times and not once were our questions answered. Get to check out and told we owe a large amount. Very confused why my insurance isn't covering it. They proceed to tell us that they don't take our insurance. I call later to talk to the manager not trusting that they will pass on the questions I had in regards to our account. Finally get ahold of the financial manager and we are told we owe even more. We understand service was rendered but in a very underhanded way. To me that shows a lack of respect for themselves if they can be underhanded. If you have no other option but here make sure you get your questions answered immediately because I don't want this to happen to anyone else. read more

My mother has dementia and has seen two doctors in this practice for glaucoma and macula degeneration. Both doctors have all been very patient with her and all of our questions were answered. I've been suffering with dry eye for over two years but repeated visits to address the issue w/my prior eye doc were useless. While she'd prescribed drops, recommended some OTC drops and cauterized my tear ducts, I saw little to no improvement. A friend recommended I see Dr. Wrzosek (at the new Durham location) and I'm so glad she did! At the first visit he told me the ducts had re-opened (which was particularly bothersome given I'd seen my original eye Dr only two weeks prior and she didn't even notice!!) and suggested I try the autologous serum tears. The autologous tears have been LIFE CHANGING!!! From the FIRST DROP-and I'm not exaggerating here- I had extended relief! And for the first time in over two years I do not have to wake multiple times throughout the night to use OTC drops, nor do I have to use them before I can fully open my eyes in the morning! Dr Wrzosek recommended I use them 4-6 times per day and I do but more often than not I have to remind myself to do it because my eyes are not bothering me! In addition to the serum tears he re-cauterized the ducts, which was a quick and fairly painless procedure, and suggested I consider the LipiFlow procedure which I've already scheduled. I could not be more pleased w/ the care I've received from Dr Wrzosek and the staff at the Durham location of The Raleigh Eye Center. read more

I visited Raleigh Eye Center with my college aged son last week We will not be back. First, the wait time was quite long. Once called back by the tech, we were immediately (and repeatedly) given a sales pitch for lasik surgery despite not even being a good candidate for it. The tech was nice and thorough and finished her part by dilating his eyes for the doctor. Dr. Kiley was too brief, not even taking the time to examine his dilated eyes until I called his attention to this. Being our first time here, we brought the old prescription as a starting point. He said yeah, that's close enough, without much effort for bettering it first. Finally, the charge was higher than visits at other offices. read more
