My last…read moreattempt at a different practice 20 years ago had been so stressful dealing with impatient staff that I stopped going. A recent problem with my eye made me look for help. I was able to get in within 2 days at North Raleigh Family Eyecare. I explained my phobia. Dr. Griffin and the other care providers were caring, patient, gentle, and gave me the space to work up to the scary parts of the exam. I returned twice more for continued care for the issue. I recently went in for a regular eye exam. Each visit has been wonderful. My fear has decreased to almost nothing thanks to their patience. I've now interacted with 6 or 7 other members of staff besides Dr. Griffin. All have been warm, helpful, patient, and professional. I absolutely love this practice and am so happy to have finally found a place that does not treat my fear as annoying and frustrating. (I've always relayed my issue when making appointments so staff would be aware of it. But other practices didn't exhibit the calm patience needed to lower my stress level.)

You want me to pay for something THE PROVIDER wants to do. I Bet they do want to charge everyone $50 extra but it should be a choice not a you have to do this bc the provider wants extra money. I just requested my prescription and will order it online. So much for being able to build local relationships bc everyone is so money hungry it's not enough to see someone for what their insurance will cover. You now have to try to squeeze more out for a test that is NOT necessary for a routine eye exam. However, he never took the time to explain what his formal diagnosis was. I understand it is the holidays, but I am paying to be seen here and have for years. I should never feel like I'm begging for his time. Second, I told him I was concerned about not being about to wear contacts in my eyes because my glasses need a higher prescription. He replied "that's why we get our prescriptions filled isn't it" ---- being the "board renowned optometrist" he is and "college educated" you should know that insurance companies typically only cover contacts or glasses not both--his demeanor is off putting, tone death, lacks bedside manner and egotistical. I had the best experience getting glasses and contacts and I actually chose this office due to the reviews. I'm so pleased with my new glasses and contacts-- turns out, the last place I was visiting for appointments and glasses had changed my contacts from bi-focals and I was having trouble for the last couple of years. Dr. Griffin puzzled it out and now I'm back to being able to see the small print, no straining, and I love my new glasses, which the staff helped me pick out. Gotten so many compliments. The office is on the first floor of a larger medical building and that building has plenty of parking. The office has extended operating hours on certain days if you need an appointment outside of normal business hours. I've always been welcomed when I enter the office and fill out any information needed. Then the techs that do the initial tests are very friendly as well. Dr. McPherson has always been thorough and friendly during the exam. I like that there is a new option to avoid the dilation of the eyes. I will gladly pay the additional fee to avoid that.

They said to go next door to lens crafters and they could get it to me. Lens crafters workers says they do measure it but would only give me my measurements if I was going to buy glasses from them and at check out. Eventually it turned into me getting migraines. After returning to their store a few times trying to troubleshoot my issue of feeling like I was crossed eyed when wearing my glasses that were $316 WITH insurance they made me an appointment. At appointment time I was told that I have to pay even more to have it corrected. I will be disputing this with my card and insurance because I refuse to spend even more money when they obviously entered something incorrect pertaining to my astigmatism. I should have never left Carolina Family Vision since I've never had an issue with my prescription from them. Edited to add: I just thought I should fill everyone in. Two months ago they did replace my lenses without a recheck so they actually confirmed that they DON'T have good customer care. It also shows that you don't have good communication in your office since you wouldn't have said that had you known you all have already failed. Shame on you for trying to hide your failures.
