Great place for routine eye care. I've been seeing Dr. Martin for about 3 years now. The building is a little dated and the wait time is long. Nonetheless, the employees are professional and helpful. Dr. Martin is kind, patient, and knowledgable. He takes the time to answer questions, offer options, and hear your preferences. I continue to return annually for check-ups. They are clear regarding the pricing and don't do additional tests unless needed or requested. For instance they don't dilate your eyes if unneeded unless you request it. Side note: the online registration is convenient albeit long. The uploaded photos of your insurance card and license don't go through so they need to scan them when you arrive. My husband and I have been patients at Johnston Optimetrics for several years. They have gone through some personnel changes (retirement, etc) since we have been going there, but the very pleasing atmosphere has not changed. Everyone is so friendly and always ready to help. We both are currently seeing Dr May. He is awesome!! He shows he cares about his patients by listening and making sure he answers any questions in a way you will understand. He willingly explains everything that may be going on with your eyes and makes sure he follows up at your next visit. Even if there are no eye problems, he still shows care and friendliness while being professional. It is a pleasure to visit Johnston Optimetrics. Shoutout to Johnson Optometric Associates PA! I've never praised a medical office before but my experience with these folks has been over the top. I got an excellent exam and glasses there 3 years ago. I broke the frames a year ago and wandered in to replace them, and the kindly optician waved me over and gave me a new pair, no charge. It wasn't in warranty and he never even took my name; this is just how they roll. Recently both lens became too scratched to use safely, so I wandered in to replace them yesterday. They couldn't replace my glasses without an exam and scheduled me for the first available, in November. (They're very popular and always packed.) An hour later, they called with an opening that afternoon. The doctor from 3 years ago saw me, gave me a thorough exam with great manner and explanations. He handed me sample dry-eye formula and wrote a new prescription. The front desk staff found and billed vision insurance I didn't know I had, and the price was waaaay lower than I expected. I now have shiny new lenses in my trust old frames. Healthcare doesn't get better than this. Highly recommended for anyone needing eye care in Garner. I won't let anyone else care for my eyes. read more

This was the only office that would take me when I was absolutely desperate because I had a bad eye infection. The receptionist went out of her way to help get me in on such short notice. I had called "myeyedoctor" which was actually my eye doctor and they could not get me in for three days and didn't seem to care. When I went in I barely waited and the doctor saw me with such little wait in the room. My dr was Dr. May and he was extremely friendly and fast. He had me treated and made sure to get me in with a follow up because my eye was so bad. I am feeling much better now and I am just very grateful they let me come in with such short notice. read more

I don't have much to compare them to, but this office was a delight. They accommodated me last minute, and were extremely friendly the whole time. The doctor I met with was fantastic. The front desk staff was fantastic. The assistants were fantastic. Everyone was so friendly - the whole process was extremely easy. Took my son to get an eye exam and new glasses, asked several times why they didn't dilate his eyes, was told it wasn't necessary. A month later I get a bill for services my insurance doesn't cover, very deceptive staff. Lied str8 to my face told me everything was covered by my insurance and choose to bill me later. During the summer, I needed an eye doctor for a terrible eye infection. I have had an outstanding experience with every worker at Johnson OPtometrics. Last year I had the same infection but to a lesser extent. I went to a different doctor and was given mimimal attention and impersonal care. Additionally, when I inquired about updating my lens perscription, I was told that I would be charged an extra $70 if I did not buy the lenses from that doctor. At Johnson Optometrics, it was completely the opposite. Because my infection was so bad, I had to return many times. Dr. May was patient, concerned, and aware that the cost of the visits were taxing on my budget, giving me a sample of the antibiotic and a coupon to help me save money. When an opening was available, his office called to see if I wanted to take it for my convenience. When my eyes were better, we discussed updated my lens perscription and I was happy to hear I was free (and un-charged) to obtain the lenses outside of their office. Since it was my first time with toric contact lenses, he patiently sent me home to test at least 4 different brands to make sure that I would purchase the best fit, even ordering samples of less commonly used types, which fit my eyes better. The office staff knows the MANY patients by name & even phone voice. They are amazing. read more
