Nonetheless, the employees are professional and helpful. Dr. Martin is kind, patient, and knowledgable. He takes the time to answer questions, offer options, and hear your preferences. I continue to return annually for check-ups. They are clear regarding the pricing and don't do additional tests unless needed or requested. For instance they don't dilate your eyes if unneeded unless you request it. Side note: the online registration is convenient albeit long. The uploaded photos of your insurance card and license don't go through so they need to scan them when you arrive. Parking is available in spaces surrounding the building.

I went and needed to make an appointment- a week later 4/21/27 i was examined and I was impressed with all the updated machines. I had to wait a few weeks for glasses to be made, which is not unusual. I then went in and tried them on, these were $900 bifocals with all the bells and whistles, but the long-distance view was blurry. I immediately told this to the woman helping me, but she said take them home and get used to them and if they don't get better, bring them back. After a week, I went back and they gave me another exam, and the results were different from the first. After waiting another week or so, I went back again. the new glasses were fine. However, upon leaving, they handed me the old prescription and did not give me the accurate prescription. All was fine until I wanted to get a pair of prescription sunglasses from Costco. I gave them the script from Carolina Vision and waited a week. These sunglasses were for a vacation planned for the beginning of September to see Ireland. Well, when I tried the new sunglasses on , they were blurry. The optometrist at Costco tested my regular glasses and discovered the the script the I was given was the wrong script. so now i have to go on my vacation without the benefit of great sunglasses . Bottom line - Carilina Family vision looks pretty on the outside, the salespeople are professional, but behind the scenes it is a clown show .

While I was there, I went ahead and ordered my new glasses (one of the new Nike frames). This was on a Friday. For some reason, I didn't get the transition lenses this time ( I almost always do). As the weekend progressed I started having sever buyers remorse. I went in to their office Saturday afternoon and asked if I could change my order to add the transition to the glasses. I really thought the answer would be no. They were happy to help me make the change and let me know that it would probably delay my order. I kind of assumed it would but I felt better about the purchase now so no big deal. Imagine my surprise when they called me Monday afternoon to let me know I could come in and pick up my glasses! While going over charges at the end, I had a $145 contact fitting fee. I've been wearing contacts for years so no one helped me "fit" anything. I asked for one pair of contact lens samples to take with me to use during the two week wait time and was told no. $718 and 3 hours later (no exaggeration ) I was finally on my way out. I did ask if that time frame was typical and was told that it was normal now that they've switched to virtual. I now know after reading other reviews that it's actually not typical. I feel deceived on pricing and my time and patronage were not respected or appreciated. I'll be picking up my glasses (cheapest pair available) and contacts and will never visit again. I'll add that the virtual visit with the doctor and technician was fine and both were professional. Unfortunately this doesn't make up for the rest of the visit but it's at least one good caveat to this.

Said he put it on system and that he would call to tell me any copay. I had to retrieve a rx from a different state so would be returning. He calls and says these glasses your child wants will be 79$ with your insurance and she can pick 2 pair. It took me nearly 1 month to get together that money. Meanwhile my husband has been walking around with scratched glasses and one whole arm missing, bc he was told arpund 140$ in july and we sure dont have that. I finally have the $ and go in and #1 the glasses we selected that the guy was supposedly specifically checking on with our insurance was not a blue tag, which would be 2 for $79. We pivoted. Picked 2. Left. Emailed later on, bc in the store i saw a sign that saifld 2 for 79 and so on, for anyone who walks in without insurance; which prompted me to check again with insurance and ask them to recheck as what insurance says is, "covered". They replied to me that they do not take medicaid and that they have a medicaid discount price but the better option for us was 2 for 79 and that they told us this. No. In fact they charaded the opposite. It was a different man i was emailing with, btw. The solution, for them, as a medical establishment that is supposed to help folks, is to say "hi, no, we do not take medicaid ", when asked, and then follow up with "but we do offer a discount program and you are most welcome to shop with us!". This is called good business. Honest business. Helping people. Medicaid, means you dont have $ for what most people do. Medicaid means if there's a fee, kids and adults go without for much longer, and when they do get the funds they are instead going without food this time. Deceptive and, fraudulent, to be frank. Anyhow we got the glasses bc we need them and had been waiting a long time to. They are nice. I would highly recommend this store to someone with no insurance who is looking to pay out of pocket. There is obviously a sales incentive, also, which is wrong in a medical facility. We originally thought they had been so kind to us and raved about them. Ha.
