Great find for ramen! Pretty dining room and the ramen bowls were terrific. The only thing that kind of threw me was you order off of an Ipad on each table, and the food comes to the table on a robot. You do not have the opportunity to talk to anyone or ask questions. Your waitress appears simply takes the food off of the robot to place it on the table. A little weird, but okay. And it's about the only time you see the waitress except to get the check so I think the service is negatively impacted by the mechanical service. If they make service a little more personal I would like it more, but maybe that's just me. read more

Very good ramen! Ordered take-out via DoorDash with my boyfriend. I ordered "Spicy Miso" and my boyfriend ordered "Osaka Beef Noodles." The spicy miso consisted of Housemade pork broth seasoned with miso, gochujang paste, ajitsuke tamago, chashu, corn, bamboo shoots, scallions, nori, narutomaki, black garlic oil. Very yummy, and the spice was perfect. The Osaka Beef Noodles had a bunch of stuff, (haha), I don't remember. I tried some though and it was yummy. Food was great and filling. 3.5 but I'll round up because it is decent for Long Island. I've been dying to try this place for a long time and we finally made our way over here for lunch. Super cute place, love the decor. Menu has the basics and we settled with karage as an appetizer, tonkotsu ramen for me and a curry ramen for him. Food overall was decent, but disappointing in some aspects. The karage had a lot of just fried pieces, not enough meaty chicken pieces. The ramens were good, but lacking salt. There was flavor but it was just missing something and the portions were small. I shared my bowl with my son, so we ordered an extra order of noodles right away which was perfect for the both of us. I can't say I'll go out of my way to come back here again, but I wouldn't be opposed to it. I'm a bit of a ramen snob and it's been hard to find a really good bowl on Long Island, but I rounded up because this was one of the better ones, but just not the best. Wife and I tried this for the first time. WOW! Really excellent. We ordered delivery and I really liked how they packaged the ramen. It's in a cardboard bowl with the hot liquid broth in the bottom and a plastic tray on the top holding all the ingredients. You open the top and drop all your food into the broth when you're ready to eat. The flavor was out of this world, I literally added them to my favorites on DoorDash before I finished it. I went to Rakkii Ramen tonight with my wife and 2 daughters. My younger daughter ordered dumplings and Calamari. The dumplings came out pretty fast, only about 45 minutes after we ordered. The rest of our food came at the hour and 25-minute mark. We were going to leave at an hour and a half. There were 5 other groups that left at around 45 minutes when their food also hadn't arrived yet. The dumplings were reported to be hard (by my 7 year old). The Calamari didn't have any flavor and was very chewy, but the dipping sauce that came with it was good. My wife did like the Teriyaki and rice. I got the seafood Udon, which had 4 muscles and 4 shrimp. I am not sure how they have more than a 1 or 2 star rating. read more

The concept of "to-go" ramen is pretty unique with the noodles and sides on top held with a plastic container and the soup being on the bottom but unfortunately the taste was not that great. Then they brought me another bowl of the soup actually cooked and it was still flavorless. My server told me that the regular chicken ramen was their most popular dish... how? 3 Asian chicks walk into a ramen joint in Smithtown. How will this unfold you ask?? We walk in, place is clean, and we are led to the tables in the back for lunch today. We are seated. Nicely heated. I had one ball that was very doughy and could've used a few more minutes on the skillet. Mind you 3 hungry chicks didn't finish the apps! To our bowls: My seafood udon broth ( pic provided) with ramen noodles was delicious! I'm a fan of this bowl. My friend's spicy miso was wayyy too spicy and needed more broth. She asked if they can please add some miso/ non spicy broth to cut some of the spice . She was literally panting and fanning her tongue. Waitress kindly took the bowl, brought it back and said they will bring out a little broth for her to add. My other friend ordered the tonkatsu ramen which also looked like it could've used extra broth. Waitress brought over the small bowl of broth and they shared and poured into their bowls. We all agreed we liked the texture and the chew of the ramen noodles. 3 hungry ladies and we didn't finish the apps... I finished my bowl. My friend had leftover. The bill came and we were surprised they charged us a $1 x 3 for each for our tea which now cost us $6 each (I'll stick with beer or hot sake next time and $2 bc they gave more broth for the bowls that clearly needed more soup. We paid and left but it didn't sit right w us as we felt the above requests were for what needed corrections for their errors. It was either too sweet to drink or not enough soup in the bowls we ordered. where's the customer service? We are annoyed that we got charged for what we asked them to correct. I'm very happy that Smithtown finally has a true Japanese Ramen restaurant. I hear this place had a soft opening this week and I tried it for lunch on the second day of the soft opening. I've noted in previous reviews that I generally to not like to go to a brand new restaurant because there is always a period time that they need to have to be able to work through the unforeseen issues and let them have a runway to work the kinks out. However, I was so excited for this place to open that I couldn't help myself. Walking in, they've done a good job with the decor. The back area has a few tables & booths, as well as small bar area. The front, where I sat, has a bar height area that overlooks the kitchen. I was greeted by a server when I walked in, who obviously was in the learning process, which is fine w/ me given it was day two. She got me seated and went over the menus with me as not everything was available. She struggled with answering some questions about the ramen, but we got through it. I ordered the Gyoza appetizer and the Tonkatsu Ramen with the pork broth. The Gyoza appetizer came out quickly, was nice & crispy, and the dipping sauce was delicious. Not long after the ramen dish made its way to me through the serving window, and it looked beautiful. The presentation was fantastic. I almost didn't want to disturb it, but I dove in with my chopsticks immediately. The broth was tasty and the noodles were good, although I probably should have left them for a minute, as they were still a bit al-dente, but in a few minutes, they were fine. In hindsight, I should have ordered the spicy version, but this ramen was very, very good. I was listening to the kitchen staff and they were definitely in learning and training mode. Funny enough, one of them came out and brought me another Gyoza appetizer, so yeah, there's a few kinks that need to be worked out. Service was good. I asked for water and they brought me a carafe of water. I like that. I didn't order the Bubble Tea, but somebody next to me did, and it looks very good. They give you a nice big plastic bottle so you can take it to go as well. I spent about 24 dollars for lunch. Considered I ordered an appetizer, that's not too bad. I do recommend this place, with the caveat that they have JUST opened and do have some kinks to work out, but all in all, this was a pleasant experience and I hope that they are successful, since I can walk here. read more

First time dining at Rakkii Ramen and it was a wonderful experience. Restaurant was very clean and seating was spaced out. Hand sanitizer on every table. I work in NYC so love trying new ramen places and am sometimes disappointed with places on the island. Rakkii exceeded all my expectations! Place was decorated so nicely! Fresh Sopporo on tap in frosted mugs, service was warm, friendly and attentive, and food was delicious! Firm noodles and porky rich broth. Had the pork buns, Tonkatsu Ramen and a few beers. This place is a mess.. complete chaos. I have no idea why there are so many good reviews given the food is horrible. Let me explain. The food: I got the edamame and tonkotsu. The edamame was greasy. The tonkotsu had this weird taste in it. I was almost convinced there was a splash of cleaner, or just grease in it until I realized its probably the garlic oil and the likes. The pork was pure fat and small pieces. The broth was flavorless, and felt like I was drinking grease. I can not figure out how anyone enjoyed their meal. It's upsetting that my experience was so different. The service and atmosphere: OH MY GOD. I didnt even know there were servers until I read reviews. Every table has a tablet to order off of, and a robot cat serves you food. No one ever came up to me until I accidentally took another ramen bc I could hear the instructions robot kitty gave me. The "server"? Then snatched the bowl out from under me?? We didnt get water until after this interaction. This place is extremely understaffed but I was very confused as to how the two workers there were struggling so hard when half of their job is electronic. And they didnt even come to our table- or anyone elses- once!!!! It was unnerving actually. I didnt like that I couldnt talk to someone about what they prefer etc. Part of me wishes to try this place again but I regret going there yesterday. So, this evening I was introduced to authentic Ramen for the first time. It's certainly a far cry from my youth and eating dehydrated noodles out of a styrofoam cup. The decor is minimalistic but very tastefully done. The food was fresh and delicious. We started off with appetizers of delicious done to perfection green vegetable Gyoza and Tako Yaki, deep fried octopus Tempura. A real culinary treat. My husband had a Seafood Ramen which was chock-full of an array of shrimp, clams and fish in a savory broth. I enjoyed a vegetarian Ramen with delicious marinated mushrooms, tofu, green vegetarian noodles all done in a vegetable broth with tofu. Everything was hot and extremely flavorful! When I saw Rakkii Ramen open, I was hyped! I actually attempted to come on several occasions but they were closed, must have been the Universe sending me a sign. All the 4 and 5 stars reviews eventually got me there and damn was I disappointed. Parking isn't an issue and you can walk in their back door from the lot. When we went inside there was an empty hostess stand and bar and one guy sitting at a table. A few minutes later the hostess came and asked if we wanted a booth or table. They still offer paper menus, which are already set at up your table. After reading all these raving reviews, I was like we need to order a lot. For apps, we started with the edamame, seaweed salad, karaage chicken wings, and the takoyaki. The apps all arrived at once. The edamame was good, it was seasoned and I want to say char-grilled. Seaweed salad was standard, a bit skimpy for the price. I don't eat meat but my boyfriend said the chicken wings were good. The takoyaki was terrible. There was way too much batter vs octopus ratio, and it was very runny/undercooked. The exterior was not crispy and it was cold, definitely not fresh out the grill pan. And hardly any bonito flakes. For ramen, we got a bowl of spicy miso and vegetarian. I actually asked the hostess who was also the server if they could make the vegetarian broth spicy and she said yes. Now I read several reviews from people who said the ramen here was comparable to Ichiran and even better than ramen in Japan, that's a bold statement. LIES! And insulting at that. The spicy miso ramen's broth was not rich or flavorful. It was spicy but bland! Like they just mixed shichimi togarashi with hot water and passed it off as spicy miso. The vegetarian bowl was pure trash. The "broth" was so bland and flavorless and even tho they forgot to make it spicy, I don't think it would have even mattered. Like did the kitchen forget to prepare the dashi the night I went? Neither base had that complex Umami flavored broth found in traditional ramen shops. The noodles were just as bad. The noodles tasted like they were cooked in the broth as they were gummy. Fresh ramen noodles are springy and bouncy not mushy. We didn't even eat 10% of our bowls and it was quite evident when the server came to clear the table and stacked one bowl into the other and the soup from the bottom bowl came overflowing all over the table and floor bc it was practically full. I have no idea why but we ordered a mango mille crepe cake and OMG! It was the worst dessert I have ever had. The layers of crepe were so thick and stale. And if anyone says it's better than Lady M's, you need to be banned from Yelp. The Sake, Sapporo (in the can) were standard, the Sapporo on draft was a bit flat and not cold enough. The interior is new (bc they opened recently) and nice. I liked the decor and setup. They do need to schedule more staff however. The hostess who was also the server was working by herself. She had to seat people, do take out orders, take table orders, bring drinks... she was overwhelmed. I can't penalize her for not being attentive. She also had to clear the tables. At least hire some bus boys. So for roughly $120 for 2 people, this was expensive and not worth it. read more

We had takeout from Rakki last night. Had heard good things about the food. The staff was very pleasant. Food was ready on time when I arrived. Drove about 20 minutes to get home. The Ramen was still warm enough. It was packaged in a container that kept the broth separate from the fillings so that it stays fresh and not soggy. We had Tonkatsu Ramen and Seafood Udon. Both were good -- not the best we've had but good. We also had karaage chicken which was kind of like popcorn chicken and wrapped shrimp which could have used more flavor. So my husband and I went there for dinner last night to finally try it out. Our waitress was so sweet & helpful when giving suggestions on what to have. The food was good and came out hot. However, there was a man behind the counter (I don't know if he was the owner, manager on shift, or just a regular employee) but he was SO mean to all of the waitresses there. A elderly customer came in to the restaurant and realized that he placed an order at a different restaurant than he was at. After this elderly customer left, the man was so insulting to the customer and called him an "a-hole". It was SOOO unwarranted and the guy made an innocent mistake. Our waitress also gave us the wrong bottle of Saki that I guess was more expensive than the one I ordered and he berated her in-front of me and my husband. It was SO uncomfortable and unprofessional. Always wanted to come here and finally decided to come today. I really liked the ambiance and decor of this restaurant, it felt cozy, sophisticated yet quaint and modern. They also played great music, and not the typical generic house heard in Japanese restaurants. Anyways, the most important part which is why you're here, the food. This is probably a place that will be better in person. We ordered the food, probably wasn't the best but was not the worst idea. When the food got here, it is in a whole cardboard bowl. The bowl though is smart all of your ingredients and noodles are separated from the broth. Smart? Maybe. Better in person- most likely. So you put all of your noodles and extras back into your broth. Do some of the noodles were a bit on the crunchy side, again probably because it was delivered and I'm sure when you are there noodles are already in the broth.
