Just Wonderful. This was the second time I've come here. The portions of meat seemed bigger and the lunch special also included the hot pot. Come hungry! The server we had was a lovely woman who had plenty of patience with our being unfamiliar with the hot pot experience and menu and did her best to explain to us. The service is great. Lunch really is an amazing deal as you get BBQ and hot pot and not just one or the other. It is a LOT of food. You will need to pay extra if you want to take left overs which they discourage as the idea is to not order more than you can eat at the sitting and not to waste good food, but with both BBQ and hot pot available, it's hard to gauge how much you can eat. They bring you 5 items at a time and you'll find it's a lot more than you thought it was and they're generous portions. They will bring you more once you finish your first round, so start small and if you want more they'll bring more, but I find my eyes were bigger than my stomach and it was a lot of food. It's a great lunch that is an event in itself., and not a place to be in a hurry. The food is delicious, fresh and well prepared . It's quite fun to cook it yourself, though it does take a bit of practice to figure out how much to put on the grill at once, but it's a kick and your food is always hot. This was my 2nd time here and just as enjoyable as the first. Bring friends or family, and make an event of it. However I have seen single individuals come and have hot pot by themselves so don't hesitate if you can't find someone to join you. It's perfect food for a cold rainy day or a celebration! read more

The common theme of eating here... cold and bland. Great interior, but for as fun looking as it is, it totally lacks any soul... bland and cold! Pork soup dumplings... if you say so! Filled with a tepid brownish liquid and a grey flavorless ball of meat. They wete not steamy hot or fresh. Pineapple steak cubes in brown sauce- yep as advertised... cubes of small pineapple and steak drowning in tepid brown sauce.... Served in a COLD pineapple shell on COLD plate. Super! Tom yum - warm, grainy(?) not spicy, very mild on all the traditional flavors. Onions and vegetable vegetables all tasted weird. Chicken friend rice was - ok enough but also served on a COLD plate. Fried pork dumplinga were ok enough, and had an imteresting grill on them but still - ok. Service was snappy on the order taking and service. Totally lack luster - the cold servicewear and meh food is puzzling.... Pass. read more

We got takeout shortly after they reopened (after rebranding, I think) and we really enjoyed our food!! The hot and sour soup was amazing and the spring rolls were crispy. We got a few dumplings - all good, the best were the sichuan spicy dumplings. The Thai friend rice was pretty good but my husband loved it so maybe it just wasn't my thing. Someone from the restaurant called me when my order was ready for pick up which I appreciated. I would love to come back and sit down to eat. Will definitely order again. read more

This location doesn't do hot pot. Great authentic food and nice environment! We enjoyed the soup dumplings here! The fried dumplings were more like gyozas since they were thinner. The udon noodles were really good and spring rolls were nice and thin. The shrimp with green beans were good. The duck rolls came with hoisin sauce were okay. The spicy dumplings in hot oil had a nice spicy flavor too! The pineapple fried rice was okay but my son didn't love it. They also have some other dim sum options and Japanese sodas. I'm sort of baffled as to why they would stop the BBQ and Hot Pot which was incredibly successful and switch to basically a Chinese restaurant. We stopped by and ordered some dumplings and spring rolls. The restaurant, which was standing room only during the hot pot days, was empty other than one other party. The dumplings were good, not great. Very doughy and sort of bland. The Sesame chicken was dull and didn't have much flavor to it. The eggplant was very good, though incredibly over sauced. All in all, I'd rather get local Chinese food for a much lower price and continue to go to the Smithtown location for hot pot which is their real strength. read more

Having had 2 great experiences at the hot pot branch, we decided to try their dumpling/wok place: Food: very good dumplings, sweet but tasty pad Thai, great scallion pancake. I've been searching for great Chinese food in the East Northport / ComMack area for 4 years and every single time it was disappointing. Not this place. I don't even know where to start. We sampled a variety of apps and entrees so we can figure out if we would come back and everything was so good I don't know where to start but here we go: Apps - So far I've judged every Chinese restaurant in this area by their wonton soup and JBBQ served the best wonton soup I've ever had. The broth was amazing and the wonton itself even better. - duck rolls were fresh and crisp with a good amount of duck in it which was a pleasant surprise since most all the times the rolls I've had out here have been mushy. - pork soup dumplings. I didn't know what to expect since I've never had soup dumplings before but wow, it was like an explosion of flavor as soon as you bite into it and it was hot and I wanted to eat the whole plate. - sweet and sour spare ribs sticky, sweet, exactly what you would expect for something called sweet and sour ribs. I had to hold myself back from eating the whole thing because I was sharing a plate. - pork and shrimp shumai it was flavorful and you really did feel like you were having pork and shrimp. sometimes in other shumai dishes it's just kind of mushy. This definitely wasn't mushy. Entrees - shrimp lo mein noodles were perfectly cooked and not sticky at all. It was easy to get onto my plate and I wasn't getting clumps of noodles stuck together, which is great and they weren't cheap with the shrimp either there was plenty throughout the noodles. - general Tso chicken had the perfect chicken to breading ratio while also being big. - pineapple chicken fried rice was the only entree that was just OK but still a good eat. What is there not to love about this place. Pricing is great, Food is great and the sake is great. I will be a repeat customer. read more

My wife and I decided to pay JBBQ a visit after the new remodel with Dim Sum. We tried the dim-sum platter and the pan fried pork dumplings. Both were very good! (Didn't get pics sorry). Sadly service is where the low stars come in. They looked low staffed as only one waitress was serving about 8-10 tables. Long wait times for the food and drinks were to be desired. We ordered a "Love Poison" off the menu which the waitress had no idea what it was (she was also working the bar :( ) and it arrived with a fruit fly in it. When I say there was a swarm of fruit flies by our table, I mean it. They were all over our table and others, definitely something they need to work on. I believe it would have worked better if they kept the shabu and added dim sum to the menu. Sadly I won't be back. read more

My family and i wanted to try this place since they unfortunately got rid of hot pot and bbq. Horrible decision they made with this. Very expensive, the food was not good. The sesame chicken was small and super sweet. I am very dissatisfied with the food here. We came starving left still hungry. The place was dead, our waitress was nice. Had a great experience tonight at this reincarnation in the Mayfair shopping center. Daniel the manager was interested in pleasing the customer. That means alot and Doesn't hurt that the food was great. The place will attract the young, along with older groups who traveled to nyc for Chinese food. Good luck and success. read more
