Came in with quite a large group without a reservation but they were very accommodating and service was fairly quick. Most importantly, food was delicious!!

Food that tastes great same day and the day after as leftovers. Service was great and they had an open mic night which was a great vibe. Also enjoy a Thai iced tea.

    Happy hour fun!

Two words: Happy Hour. Loved my first experience at Rak Thai. They had great happy hour specials. Half off wine, $1 craft beer, and $10 special cocktails. $1 wings, and half off lettuce wraps and crab Rangoon nachos. Everything was a good size and was super tasty. The wait staff were nice and attentive. Everything was a good value. 4 drinks and 3 apps for under $45! Definitely check this place out. I want to come back and try the soft shell crab curry. Looks amazing.

This was an interesting spot. We came for the Christmas market which is located in the parking lot of the Downtown market. The downtown market is not the type of market I am used to. It has all the qualities you'd expect but also has a few restaurants. Rak Thai was one of them. We didn't eat but the food looked and smelled amazing. We just grabbed a couple of drinks. They had decent beer options and a nice selection of signature cocktails. The service was great and we loved the atmosphere. It's walking distance from just about everywhere downtown so I'll definitely come back to try the food!

I've been excited to check out Rak Thai, as the space has been vacant for ages and the Downtown Market has been without an anchor restaurant for a while. The space is really pretty, with plants and a beautiful mural and comfy seating. My friend and photographer extraordinaire, Olivia A and I met for dinner recently. We got the crab cheese nachos to start - it is a massive portion! We didn't know what to expect, but this could be a starter for at least four people to split. It was delicious, with crispy wonton chips, tons of shredded imitation crab, cheese sauce, and sweet chili sauce. For my entree, I got the drunken noodles and ordered the dish with beef. You can also get chicken, shrimp, or tofu. I got the medium level spice. Olivia got the crying tiger beef. Our food came out quickly and everything looked great, but our server let me know they made my dish with shrimp instead of beef, and asked if it was okay. I was a little surprised that they wouldn't have just remade the dish as ordered, but I went with it. The shrimp was cooked perfectly but I don't love tail on shrimp in dishes like this, as it's just kind of annoying to eat. The noodles were tender and the veggies were fresh. I definitely could have used more heat on the dish so I might go hotter next time. The steak was a big portion and looked so good. They still don't have a liquor license, which is a bit of a bummer, but I think it should be happening soon. It's a bit pricey, but the food was flavorful and tasty. I don't think it'll be my go-to Thai spot, but I'm glad we got to check it out.

This is a really great restaurant in the Downtown Market. They have lots of seating and it's really beautiful with lots of natural light. The food is amazing. I love their drunken noodles and chicken wings but really everything is good.

First time seeing this space revamped for Rak Thai and was immediately impressed with the interior! I love what they did with the space! We were seated and helped right away. Besides water I tried out the Thai Iced Tea which wasn't too sweet and tasted delicious! For an appetizer we tried the Crab Cheese Nachos! The wonton chips were so good and the portion of this appetizer was bigger than I expected! Loved this and want to order it again soon! For an entree, i enjoyed the crying tiger steak! The steak was super flavorful and tender. Loved that it came with sticky rice too! Wasn't a fan of the sauce and the papaya salad but i can be picky in those areas. Everything else was fabulous though! Would definitely recommend for those looking for some delicious Thai food!

We love the vibe of this spot and it's a great addition to the downtown market space. The crab cheese nachos are of course the star! It's a huge portion with all of the best parts of crab rangoons in nacho form. Perfect for sharing. Plus if you go during happy hour they are half off!

I've had take out from Rak Thai a handful of times and was excited to see that they took an old communal dining space to make it into a full service in-location dining experience! The decor is absolutely adorable and I love the vibes. It's not too loud considering it's in the downtown market and their hours are extended beyond the downtown market (though, they need to update their website to reflect it). This makes it a little confusing because they actually have a separate entrance (with no signage, again - something they need to update) to let people know that they can come in between 7-9pm even though the market itself is closed. It's a bit confusing and the "host" stand is meant for inside the downtown market entrance so you have to walk a little bit to be greeted. However, it was a pretty good experience! It was really clear that our server was overwhelmed at the amount of tables he had so we were trying to be pretty nice and lowkey, but it was clear that he was a little flustered by our few questions. My friend and I are in search of the best Thai in GR and order the same 2 items each time: 1) Pad Thai and 2) Red Curry (both simple and delicious staples when done correctly). I was a big fan of the Red Curry (though next time I'd just upgrade for rice noodles vs rice). We got level 3 for both and it was a decent amount of spice! Nothing overwhelming but enough heat to enjoy. We got both items with chicken and I was disappointed in the chicken with the Pad Thai. It kind of had a fishy taste to it (like it was made in a wok that had seafood and not fully cleaned?) which deterred my ability to enjoy those pieces that I had to push it to the side. The chicken in the curry was delicious though! Given the cost and serving size, I'd definitely try it again and expand my ordering to something more. However, I don't really know if I'll go out of my way to do a sit down here, especially around the Christmas market time and parking being chaotic. They don't have their liquor license yet but when they do, the full bar with dinner will be a great add!

Came as part of my 5,700 mile food tour. After taking a lap, I snagged a gyro for lunch but couldn't pass up the prospects of a red curry pad Thai...so I came back for dinner. Red curry pad Thai with chicken, rice noodles, egg, onion, tamarind red curry sauce, cilantro, and peanuts at a "bankai" 5/5 spice level. Wow, it was truly a top bite of the trip. I loved the fusion of the two dishes and finally a place where 5/5 heat lives up to its warning. The lime juice was a nice acidity to cut through. Had to eat it in shifts to cool down and it tasted just as good just above room temp!

Raw uncooked "fried" chicken wings !!!

I ordered via Uber Eats the fried chicken wings and Pad See Yu on November 14, 2025. As I was eating the chicken wings, it became apparent that it was too chewy. When I turned the lights on, I realized in shock that the chicken wings were raw and uncooked. I called immediately and was assured that a manager would call me. No one called and I just called today. I spoke with the manager, Jesse, who told me that I should have called Uber Eats instead of getting denied via their message App. Jesse told me that it was over 24 hours and that Uber Eats would not issue a refund. Although I informed Jesse that I had numerous incidents of vomiting and diarrhea from the raw chicken, he was unwilling to compensate more than the chicken wings and Pad See Yu. He even had the nerve to tell me that he was making me the Pad See Yu for free and that me asking for two Thai iced teas was not going to be honored. Vomiting and diarrhea for 2 days is just an acceptable business practice here. Even after he saw the picture that I emailed to rakthaigr@gmail.com, he did not seem to care that the food poisoning could have been life threatening. I threw up everything I ate to no avail as I still got sick to my stomach. Don't patronage this establishment that does not take food poisoning seriously.

I visited Rak Thai to check out their new location in the Downtown Market and I love the new space and the new menu! I ordered pad Thai and wanted to get crab rangoons and was sad to hear that they no longer have crab rangoons on their menu. However, they recommended me the crab cheese nachos and I'm so glad I tried them out! Who knew that this combo would be so delicious? The food was also only a 10 minute wait!

    Pad Thai was also delish.

Service frm Dylan was excellent. Us 3 went in with the idea of a late lunch but ended up eating their HHr menu which was delish.
