I generally like fast food places that focus on a specialty and do it well over a place that puts out a dozen different dishes mired in mediocrity. Raising Cane's does chicken fingers well. Breading is crispy with the chicken inside still being tender and juicy - pretty much what you want from such a dish. That said, the chicken tenders are pretty much all I think they do well. The crinkle-cut fries are extraordinarily mediocre - pretty much the same as what I can buy in frozen foods at my supermarket. The sweet tea is hit or miss - I lived in the south for a number of years and developed quite a taste for the stuff, and on the bright side the stuff they serve up seems to be brewed fresh but the downside is that it's not overly consistent. It's clearly been oversteeped several times that I've tried it - the pretty obvious bitter flavor of tea leaves left sitting too long that for most people would mean tossing the stuff and starting over. What you get is pretty expensive as well for what it is. The fries and drinks are pretty ho hum and nothing special, so you're paying ~$2 per chicken finger. read more

I love Canes!!!!! Canes is my go-to spot. I'm embarrassed to say but I'm a chicken tender & fries type girl. I love the fact that that's all that they serve. Nice and simple. The sauce is the best part. I dip my whole meal (tenders, fries & Texas toast) in it. Price is reasonable compared to other chicken spots. The staff are always nice and efficient! Crushed ice is great! The lemonade is the best! Only minor complaint is that sometimes I feel like they could cook the chicken a few minutes longer. Sometimes the chicken is a little soggy vs crispy. I love cane's, ever since this location opened and I discovered them, I love them. In fact, I loved it so much I started working there about a year and a half ago haha. All of my coworkers are fun to be around, and it may seem like we're goofing off sometimes, but we always get the job done and have fun while doing it. I will agree that the food is a little pricy, but it's still worth it. I always tell people that if you want quality chicken, you go to Cane's, and if you want cheap chicken you go to KFC lol. I love how the restaurant also supports the local high school sports teams through fundraisers (this location is in the Moundsview school district), and all the posters and signs and stuff in the dining room always gives me something fun to look at (including a few hidden ones in the kitchen the customers can't see). Yes some things it feels like we nickel and dime you for, but it's all for good reason. The canes sauce and honey mustard are mixed on site, and we squeeze the lemons for our lemonade every morning before we open. Those are really the only "secrets" I can reveal, although they aren't really secrets, because we tell customers this every time they ask why it's extra. Labor isn't cheap, especially here in such a competitive job market. read more

The food is as good as it is at the Maple Grove location where I went to with my parents when my Mom was around & had a nearby doctor's appointment, but we no longer go there due to travel time, but this one is on our way home from church, so Dad & I stop by on Sundays. The place is kept nice & clean the staff is great. They're very polite, & you know it can't be easy when working in the service industry, so it's always a pleasure to see them when we walk in. They're such a pleasure to be around. The food is fast, hot, & fresh. My only issue is the annoying music they have playing, but, considering the rest of the place, it's not that much of a problem. Da-YUM! Cane's is the yummiest of fast food chicken joints! Greasy hands down...no leave them up until you wipe them off! We made it a quick picnic dinner. I got the box meal deal. Four crispy breaded chicken fingers, perfectly cooked crinkle fries, the most amazing - melt in your mouth toasted bread, coleslaw, and sweet tea with the best kind of ice! Little pellet ice - - perfection!! The crunchy texture of the breading contrasted perfectly with the juicy tenderness of the light breast meat...then dipped in their magical sauce! I hear angel chickens blocking! Divine! The fries were excellently done too. Some crunchy, some mushy, all perfectly salted so no need to dip in the sauce, but it's there so why the hell not? Then the toast...oh my! Fresh bread, butter and toasted. It literally melted in my mouth. So good! I still need to try the coleslaw, but I'm so full! I only finished 3 of my four chicken tenders. Definitely getting the smaller basket deal and exchanging coleslaw for that dreamy toasted bread. I didn't notice they had fresh squeezed lemonade either. Next time! Everyone from California raves about Raising Canes while traveling or encountering one so I had high hopes. I think people enjoy their bread and the chicken but I felt like it was just ok. I looked online what the most popular item is and it's was the 3-finger combo. 3 chicken fingers, bread, fries, drink and their sauce. I expected the chicken to be a little more crispy and juicy and the bread was good but it just tasted pretty basic to me. The sauce is pretty good with the chicken and fries and their sweet tea tastes like any other sweet tea to me. We went into the drive thru and they were pretty busy. It was quick to order but then we had to pull up and wait for our food to be brought out. It's definitely a cheaper meal to have and on the go and there are multiple locations around the twin city area and neighboring cities. I think it's worth a try but maybe it's different in different locations. I might have to give them another shot sometime. read more

I've been eating at the Shoreview location ever since they opened. Loved loved loved the food. But... that was then and now it's today. They haven't adjusted to Covid. Many is the time I *wanted* to pop in but there appeared to be concentric lines wrapped around the building so I kept driving. Finally got in line and had maybe a 30 minute wait. Yeah, it was good but not as good as it used to be - portion sizes were much smaller, probably because they're trying to get cars through as fast as possible. What ordinarily would be a 5-star review loses a star for the slow-slow service and another star for the perceptible drop in quality. There's a new Cane's under construction near the Rosedale Mall off Snelling. I'm hoping the new one can iron the bugs out. If so, I'm shifting my allegiance to that one. read more

I've been eating from this restaurant for the past three years. I know how much food portions you should get and know my limits of only ordering the three combo. I've ordered the four combo and that was hard for me to finish. As of the last three visits however, the portions have been very light. Quality control isn't what it used to be. I think there's a Canes opening up near the mall now so I guess I'll be eating there instead. read more

Salty. If I had to choose one word to describe Raising Cane's is that it is salty. Everything is salty, from the chicken, to the Texas toast. (Salted butter.) The orange and yellow sauce is even salty. I went to Raising Cane's one day just to try it out since the hype has been so high. And was highly disappointed. The sandwich is just 3 chicken strips placed into a bun. And the chicken fingers are just meh. Yes, it was fresh, but at the end of each bite I was reaching for the soda to quench the overwhelming amount of salt I was tasting. We ended up tossing out much of the food that we ordered, to my dismay, since I don't like wasting food. But it just wasn't worth it. Bottom line: TOO SALTY. and if you're watching your weight, or health... I would steer away from it. read more

Big disappointment when the food is so good, you eat every bite, and just wish those last two fingers were there... Live 16 mins away and didn't check the order until I got home. I was introduced to Raising Cane's at their Dinkytown location. This place has been pretty nice. Have to love how crispy and big their chicken tenders are and their sauce... oh my gosh good. Big fan. This place though is very popular. It gets busy and whenever I go I have to wait a long time to get my chicken. It is worth it but you have to be patient. With that being said, I mean also be patient with some of the people working there. They are probably stressed and unhappy. I had one girl, who was at the first window to pay in the drive thru, be a little rude to me and gave me an unhappy look when I came up to pay. I was in the good mood, so I won't complain too much on that. If you go I would recommend the toast, chicken and the sauce. I am not really impressed by the cole slaw. read more

I feel like I'm cheating on Chick Fil-A, but it's true what they said about Canes. It actually IS better. Not by much, mind you, but the chicken strips are bigger, the sauce is fresher, and I think you actually do get a little more cluck for your buck. (Heyyooo!) Chicken strips are the main event here - actually, they're the only event; you just choose whether you want 'em by themselves or in a sammich. I usually get the 3-finger combo. It comes with 3 tendies, fries, texas toast, their secret sauce (I think the secret ingredient is crack because contrary to what I expected, I'm hooked on it), and a drink. The quintessential Canes beverages are lemonade and sweet tea, both of which are homemade perfection. Also, their coleslaw is actually surprisingly good (I normally feel very meh about coleslaw). It's mostly staffed by upbeat, friendly high school and college kids who give the place a fun vibe. Canes represents the best of the recent increase in fast food quality, atmosphere, and creativity, and I'm digging it. It's become hands-down one of my favorite fast food joints. read more

We have a little boy who is only eating chicken and fries right now so this was the perfect place to come before braving a Super Target on a Sunday afternoon. It was packed to the gills with people waiting for food. The employees were friendly and efficient. I placed my order right away and then we grabbed a table to wait. It's a little cramped in the dining area, but even with it being so busy, there was someone cleaning tables and checking the garbage cans. The décor is fun and eclectic. Our son thought the disco ball was really cool. The wait was kind of long, and then the chicken was a big disappointment. It was super greasy and didn't have much flavor. I was surprised because we'd been through the drive through before and I remember it being really good. The fries are great and that Texas toast is the bomb. Those right there carried the meal for me. Then I took a bite and hit bone! Ew! Nice big bone in my chicken not-so-tender. Disappointing on the chicken front but I would give them another chance when they weren't so crazy busy. The Dinkytown spot is always so packed (and because of this, always pretty filthy) and parking is impossible to find... this one was almost empty AND had free parking! Not to mention this one conveniently has a drive-thru option as well. Our food came out quickly and was obviously hot and fresh as always. Also the kids who work here all seemed to be having a good time, laughing and singing, it was a nice environment to eat in. The menu is simple: chicken, fries, toast, coleslaw... but no matter what you get it's always delicious. Their Cane's sauce is amazing and no matter how many times I try to recreate it at home, it just doesn't compare to the real thing... and the Texas toast is like something out of a dream. So pillowy soft but so perfectly fried crisp at the same time... dip it in the sauce. Do it. DO IT. If you want food fast that isn't reeeeallly fast-food, check out Cane's. It's the best. read more

So now, I get specific cravings for Raising Canes. They offer the best "fast food" chicken in the cities for sure. The chicken comes up hot, crispy, and juicy. The service is fast and extremely friendly. The crew has been bubbly with customers and each other during my last few visits. It's nice to take a break from work and see people who aren't dying to take a break from work! If you didn't know, they pretty much only offer chicken fingers. Add in coleslaw. YES I just repeated a PRO. *It was $6.99 for a Texas toast, 3 fingers, crinkle cut fries, sauce , and Pop. I think that's a bit much. *Kids size is 2 fingers, pop, and fries, with sauce for $4.99, I think * Only 1 dipping sauce... Which is quite PEPPERY -I didn't like it, and therefore had no sauce for my dipping. Ketchup available too. I'm a huge fan of Popeyes & Chick-fil-A chicken. Anyone who's spent time in the south knows Cane's v. Zaxby's is an ongoing feud. Both places sell chicken fingers with signature sauce, seasoned fries, texas toast, and cole slaw. Zaxby's has more menu options and IMO more flavorful chicken, but both are honestly excellent. Chicken strips are pretty much the only menu option, but that's what you come for. The signature sauce is similar to thousand island (arent all signature sauces?) They are a step up from the average fast food place. They also have southern style sweet tea and lemonade. We eat here a lot. we have a bunch of guys from work and was probably 2 times a week with anywhere from 5 -10 people eating. We order for the entire shop every other Saturday. The chicken fingers are getting smaller, the wait times are seriously longer. We try to order online or through the app on Saturdays to speed things up. Every time we try to use them it says they are temporarily unavailable. Every. Single. Time. Why have the options if you aren't going to use them? So we try to call the order in as it is large. If they even answer the phone they say they are too busy and can't take phone orders. So we drive down there and wait in line for a half hour and give them a huge drive thru order. Not doing this anymore. Get your act together. They're building a Chick Fil A right near you. That's where we're going from now on. read more

Cane's is the best!!!! They have really tasty chicken, sauce, and their buttered toast is delicious. The box combo is a fantastic deal for the amount of food you get. Usually quite a bit greasy, and definitely not very healthy but a good lunch every once and awhile. The weak point of the deal is the fries for sure, but they are still pretty good when fresh. Service is good, their staff is friendly. The drive thru is often very busy so you can't expect fast service but it is kind of a bummer you have to wait that long to get your food. This place has great chicken fingers, and only chicken fingers! This location has the same great food and service as other locations, but a few drawbacks. The restaurant is small and the parking lot is very awkward and tiny. If you come at lunch, prepare to wait and possibly not find a seat. Its also pretty loud. The crinkle cut fries are great, the Texas toast is always delicious and greasy, and even though I'm not a huge fan of coleslaw I don't seem to mind theirs. I really like the Cane sauce, but it might be a little too much if you have an aversion to pepper. This is my first visit to Raising Canes. Only heard about them a couple of years ago. Menu is as simple as it gets. Chicken Fingers is the only meal option. A sandwich style, 3, 4 and 6 pc combo. The combos come with fries, Texas Toast, cole slaw and beverage. Sauces are lacking in variety. Cane Sauce, Honey Mustard, Ketchup, Mustard and I think they said hot sauce. Looking on the net, a Cane clone is Mayo, ketchup, garlic salt, black pepper and 1/4 teaspoon Worstershire Sauce. What is 1/4 teaspoon gong to do for a 1/2 cup and 1/4 cup of a mixture. IMO, nothing really. Just there to try and make it special or unique. And it does not work to make it special or unique. They really need to raise their game in sauces. Get some wing type sauce. A hot one for the brave folks, a medium for the majority of people and a more sweet type sauce for those sensitive to peppers. As has been mentioned in other reviews, the fries are fries. Nothing special. Standard food service krinkle cut fries. I don't think they salt their fries when coming out of the fryer. Fries need to be seasoned as soon as they come out, so the seasoning can adhere a bit to the hot fries. Mine were not hot enough to season with salt/pepper they provide in those tiny packages. I guess I will have to bring my own and make sure they are hot enough. But ketchup can help too. The fingers were very crispy and the chicken very tender. Not a lot of flavor in the breading, but that is where decent sauces can help out. Not having chicken fingers before, I thought they were very decent size. Certainly bigger than my fingers I got the Cane sauce and it was OK, just nothing really special. But I am kind of a pepper head when it comes to sauces for this type of food. Not super hot, but give it some zip. The Texas Toast was very decent. I think it could do double duty and used as a very small piece of french toast with melted butter and some syrup. Service was very quick and friendly. It took me a few minutes to decide on which of the 4 meal options I wanted. I chose the 4 piece combo and it was around $8.75. It was served as soon as I got my change. So I don't think they are cooked to order as they claim. You can't cook raw chicken in 2 minutes. And the fries were not that hot either. It is good choice when you want something a little different than what you are used to. Just be aware, have your own sauce available if you want a better variety than what is available. They have party packs available in 25, 50, 75 and 100 piece containers. Unsure of the price or if sides are available in these party packs. But a good option for a party. read more

Coming from a Southern gal who dearly misses fried chicken, a cold sweet tea, smiles and hospitality- I felt at home the moment we walked in the door. The staff was friendly, had us all smiling and laughing in the first 5 minutes. Our food was ready before we could even full our cups with the aforementioned sweet tea. My fav part was that the manager isn't just a manager- she shares every duty with her co-workers. Just like the front door says. Some reviews here rated this as better than Chick-fil-A. I got the chicken strip sandwich and just can't agree. The chicken is obviously fresh and good quality but it has no real flavor. I think they rely on their sauce to give it a flavor punch. Without it, Chick-fil-A wins IMO. At this location the wait wasn't long on a Saturday at about 1230 pm. The environment is pretty noisy as the counter staff yells out the orders and there is just 1 big open atmosphere. A chicken sandwich combo (3 big strips on a bun) was just over 7 dollars, so it's good value for what you get. read more
