I booked facials and pedis for my husband and I to celebrate a birthday. Unfortunately because of their staffing, they could only give one of us a facial. The other got a massage instead. My facial was great and relaxing. My skin felt hydrated and glowy afterwards. My husband said his massage was just alright, nothing to rave about (we regularly get massages somewhere else). Being able to do side by side pedicures was nice but my pedicure wasn't that great. The nails were filed a bit too short and my cuticles were also a bit snagged. I think it's hard for the esthetician to do pedis properly when you're basically lying horizontal on the chair lol... plus the lighting is dimmed for your relaxation. Overall I would return again for a facial but wouldn't go for anything else. read more

I have gone to Raintree for a few years now and have only positive things to say about the staff and service. I receive regular manicures and pedicures and brow tints, but have also had a couple of facials. I find the staff very friendly, kind and professional. It is perhaps not the most chichi spa, but it is attractive, clean, very comfortable and most welcoming. Little touches like warm wraps and offers of tea are terrific. My two thirty-something daughters agree wholeheartedly. read more

DO NOT BUY GIFT CARDS HERE because they may not honour it!!! My best friend bought a $50 GC for my birthday many years ago. I called to confirm twice that the GC has no expiry date, both times I was assured that their GC do not expire. Last year, I decided to use it, they declined my GC because mine is the older version of GC and since their system changed so they will not honour my GC. Seriously???? Because your system changed so my right as the customer and the credit on the GC are invalid??? They said there is nothing they can do...is there no "discount" button in your system to credit me back the $50 after a treatment? Beyond disappointed at their lack of effort to resolve my issue, clearly more worried about their profit than customer service. read more

If you want to know how great Raintree Spa is, try to get an appointment! Raintree being busy is not a bad thing at all. When you call and if they are booked, they will do whatever is possible to get you in, no matter what. Great customer service! Honestly, it's hard to write this review because it will only make Raintree more in demand. Raintree is a fabulous spa with amazing services and a great staff. I had a wonderful experience at this spa recently! I went for a Full Body Bliss treatment (scrub, Vichy shower, massage and mini facial) and added on the Head & Toe Heaven (head and foot massage). This was one of the best spa treatments I've ever had, and I visit quite a few spas. It was definitely the best exfoliation treatment I've had. The attention to detail with all the treatments was impressive, and I felt completely wonderful leaving the spa. My only (small) issue is that they don't have much of a lounge. I like to visit spas with friends and relax in the lounge afterwards, and there wasn't much space here, and what there was seemed to double as a shop. This is a fairly small detail though, compared to the quality of the treatments I received. I am definitely going back! read more

I've been to the spa a few times and for me, it is one of the nicest spas I've been to. I've had two full body wraps, waxes, manicure/pedicures and massage therapy. This is the place you think of when you think of a luxury spa. When I enter the calming environment of the spa, I'm offered tea/water and a warm shoulder wrap. When I change in to a robe, I have a locker and a very plush change room. All of their technicians are friendly and warm, always offering tea/water and they make sure all of my needs are met. With massage therapy, the massage beds are heated so you never feel cold, like in other clinics. The light in the rooms are dimmed so that I never felt exposed, especially during the body wraps when I had to be naked. I highly recommend any service that includes the Vichy shower and if you use massage therapy, buy the 3-pack. You save a good amount on each massage. read more

I have been unfortunate a few times to recieve gift certificates to Raintree so I feel obligated to go there but if i could pass along a warning to others it would be that there are many other friendlier, nicer, more professional spas in Richmond! For starters, the receptionist (who i believe is the owner) is not very friendly. I don't appreciate sarcasm or a condesending tone when I'm making an appointment or paying for the one I just had. The massage therapist I had was brutal. She insulted me the entire time, asking why my ankles are so fat and then I got to enjoy hearing her stories of her friend who became disabled by the same disease I am living with. That's exactly what relaxes me - hearing about how I will likely be disabled! There are so many stories I could tell of disasterous appointments but I'd rather just pass along to GO TO A DIFFERENT SPA! read more

As promised, I want to give an update on my 2nd time at Raintree Day Spa. Barbara, the owner, was there this time, and was just as pleasant and customer friendly as I remembered her to be. She greeted us with tea and gave us forms to fill out. I brought my two cousins with me and as all had 1 hr Swedish Relaxation Massages. While we were filling out forms, our massage therapists brought out warm shoulder wraps for us, which was brilliant! Such a cheap but effective way to show that this spa pays good attention to detail! The massage was pretty good, but not mind blowing (I think it's because we did not get RMTs. Apparently, all their RMTs are booked on weekends until 2011....!). I liked how they were flexible with our needs. For example, my cousin needed someone with a firmer hand, and I wanted a scalp massage included in mine, and they satisfied both our requests. Another little detail is that they would use hot towels to wipe off excess oil after their massaged each section (for example, after a 15- min long foot massage, they would wrap our feet in a hot towel for a minute and gently massage so that we weren't covered in grease by the end of the appointment). I had a wonderful experience at Raintree and would definitely continue to recommend it to anyone who is looking for a decent spa with great service! Try to book in advance for an RMT! read more

I was just talking with a good friend of mine and she told me today that her dad had purchased three gift certificates for his wife, now passed for close to two years now. She (the wife) and her daughter (my friend) had been going to Raintree for close to if not more than 10 years. Anyways, the husband recently found the gift certificates in a drawer...I believe they were for manicure/pedicure treatments and he wanted to give them to his daughter. My friend (the daughter) contacted Raintree to see the value or treatments paid for. She was told they had expired and were worth nothing by the owner. Being the owner she has total control and say, if she wants to redeem them or not for long standing patrons such as my friend and her late mother. Personally, I think gift certificates are quite the scam particularly in cases like this by Raintree. But, here is a chance for Raintree to redeem itself and show a little integrity. If you think about it, you have gotten the money with no questions asked by the husband, his only want in purchasing them was for his ailing wife to enjoy herself while she could...obviously she couldn't and that's why they were put away and forgotten about due to their circumstances. I would like to challenge the owner to reconsider her stance and honour the gift certificates. If you don't, I think that is just bad business practice and bad personal relations. Why not redeem or make good on the gift certificates ($200-300??) it would make everyone happy, you wouldn't lose a 10 year client (the daughter)...along with not having the bad publicity told to friends and family...you will be making a lot more money from her and her friends in the long run. I would like to thank Shannon, the massage therapist, for the great massage I have recently had. She did such a great job and my back does not hurt as much as it did before the massage. I did not expect to feel such a relief after just one massage! She asked me what area I would like her to focus on during the massage and she used different techniques to relieve my back pain. I would heartily recommend the Raintree Spa. I always find it very relaxing; you are greeted with a warm neck wrap, tea and chocolate. The pedicures are always excellent and the staff are delightful. My only complaint is that the gift certificates do have a very short expiration period. read more

I haven't been here in a while, but this was always a good place to go. I usually went to get my eyebrows and eyelashes tinted, and the ladies always did a great job. I went with my Mom to get a pedicure once as well and it was one of the best I've ever had. The last time I went, I got my eyebrows waxed and I had a reaction to the wax. Apparently they had just changed it or something. The lady doing my brows felt so horrible because the skin around my brows went red, and she did everything she could to fix it. I felt bad for her, and I was trying to reassure here that it was okay (hey, how could she have known? Not her fault. :) ). It was nice that she was so concerned (though I know it was her job and she probably thought I was going to throw a tantrum). Raintree is a good place to go to; I'd recommend gift cards for Mother's Day gifts or something, it'll be worth it. read more

Had my second appointment at this spa and they goofed up again with my treatment. I had requested prenatal massage therapy and after when I requested my receipt for claiming on extended medical the lady at the front desk told me that I hadn't received massage therapy but a "maternity massage" and that I had to book a year in advance for those "registered massage therapy" appointments! First of all...isn't massage therapy performed by a registered massage therapist?...and who in their right mind would book for massage therapy a year in advance?? The massage itself was okay but nothing exceptional and the staff are out to lunch. Won't be going here again. Hope others have a better experience. read more

Receptionist not very friendly. Told me no appointments until May and its Jan right now (understandable for many Spas with 1 RMT). In response, I asked how far in advance I can book and couldn't give me a straight answer - got a strong impression they don't want new customers. For a spa that has etiquette recommendations on their website - they should re-think their approach to customer service and gracefully decline business as opposed literally shoving business away. Raintree Spa is Richmond's best kept secret! Every time I go, I am always blown away with the experience. Tea and hot shoulder wraps while you wait, and the therapists are all so friendly that it feels like you're family. I have tried just about every service at least once from the Vichy shower (highly recommend!!) to pedicures and take it from me, don't waste your money at those cheap pedicure places, you'll just need another one in 2 weeks! Raintree is worth having your spa dates booked out in advance for the year and you'll leave every time feeling like you were just on vacation. read more

One word! Disappointed. After 6 phone calls to confirm an appointment I went with an open mind. My 2 treatments were rushed and not very relaxed. It finished 45 minutes early! Not relaxing and not professional. I would never go back. read more
