It feels like the older I get, the more I try to recapture my childhood on my birthday. So, Rainforest Cafe seem to be the perfect place for my birthday dinner this year even though I'm 50 years old. I previously tried to convince a friend to go with me for dinner on a regular night and she joked that she hadn't been there since her kids were 3 years old. So I thought, perfect for my birthday. I love immersive environments and themed restaurants and bars, and this definitely delivered! There are animatronic animals at every turn, a talking tree in the gift shop, thunderstorms every 5 minutes, and so much eye candy. Five stars for atmosphere The restaurant was packed at 6:00 p.m. on a Saturday, with full reservations and more people showing up trying to walk in. There is quite a check-in process, and for me with a long line, so it's good to get there early. The whole ordeal actually takes a long time and we were there for almost 3 hours for dinner. But there's plenty to keep you entertained, including balloon animal artists (I was disappointed that they did not come to our all adults table) and a photographer taking souvenir photos which I absolutely loved. Everybody liked their meals. I went on theme and ordered the beef lava nachos which were perfectly good. I also had a frozen strawberry daiquiri in a souvenir parrot Tiki mug, which was fun and tasted good although not very boozy (which was fine because I had a long ride home). Service was very friendly but slow, understandable for how busy they were. We did have to ask for things like a place setting and the gluten sensitive menu a couple of times before actually getting them. But I'm thrilled beyond belief that they actually have a gluten sensitive menu and that I didn't get sick after eating there. I wish there had been more in the gift shop that I had wanted to buy. A lot of the products offered are toys for kids and generic wildlife/rainforest stuff or feature the Rainforest Cafe cartoon mascots on them. All in all it was a great birthday dinner and I would recommend it to anyone who wants a festive time.
I haven't been to a Rainforest Cafe since childhood, so I was excited to experience this sacred location with a group of my bestest friends for a joint birthday celebration. The atmosphere was, of course, magical. The dining area was spacious- leaving me plenty of room to walk around to get pictures without bothering other patrons, as well as beat on my chest every time the thunder started, or when the apes started making a commotion. Massive pointers for that. Also the gift shop is so fantastic. I came here primarily motivated by nostalgia, and honestly, my expectation was that the food would just be alright- I was mistaken!! The food was actually so bomb. I got the python pasta, and my friends got the fish tacos, a burger, and the lasagna and everyone not only enjoyed their food immensely, but the portions were substantial- most of us took a last little bit home to eat later. :) We finished off the night with the volcano, which, despite being sad they don't do the little sparkler in the top anymore (i get it though tbh), i loved it. I thought that would just be some brownies or whatever too but The lava cake was soooo gooey and the presentation completed with chocolate rocks and lava sprinkles was so darling. There were also 5 of us and we couldn't manage to kill it off completely, so biggie portion for sure Lastly, service was lovely. Greg took care of us and provided excellent service. He even heard my friends and I out when we provided feedback on the location offering a gorilla walk-around character for parties. I mean, the frog is super iconic, but I'm a primate at heart. But thank you Greg for being so kind and attentive we appreciate you!! Will totally be back to pound on my ape chest and chow on some delicious grub xoxo
My boyfriend and I had some time to kill before our movie and we decided to go to the bar at rainforest cafe. If you've never been, it has a Disneyland feel to it. There's beautiful scenery like a tropical forest and loving mechanical animals. Boyfriend and I ordered strawberry and regular mojito and it was wonderful. Kaydence, our bartender, was an exceptional and kind host and great bartender. We will definitely return.
I came here with a reservation, and they let us in a bit early. I would definitely recommend getting a reservation through OpenTable since this place always seems to be busy. First off, this place is definitely a vibe. It's a fun experience that makes you feel like you're in a jungle/rainforest. I can't say too much about the food since I came here mainly to try the special Sparkling Volcano dessert, which is a fun, big chocolate brownie/cake with ice cream. It tasted good, and it's a fun little dessert for $19. I love all the monkeys and other animatronics that make noise every so often. Overall, I'd say you come here more for the experience than the food. Also, the service was actually amazing!
I have always liked the rainforest Cafe! This one is in the mills mall. Its a neat place bc of the decor and ambiance. I love the vibe here. The food is ok. Just very average but the service has been great and the atmosphere is just awesome. Ive added a picture that's 21 years old. My baby at the time! This is how long I've been coming here! Nostalgic!
I usually always take a picture of the menu, but didn't think I would be making a yelp review for this place. I forgot what the steak dish was called, but it was really good! The steak had a good hard sear on it, although it was overly salty. Everything on Taste of the Island plate was good. Everything was seasoned perfectly and flavorful.
I was really disappointed with our recent visit to Rainforest Cafe at Ontario Mills. First, I highly recommend making a reservation because they seem to be required. However, even with a reservation, be prepared to wait well past your scheduled time to be seated. The service was extremely slow, and the food was mediocre at best. It's unfortunate because this restaurant used to be much better, but the overall quality has definitely gone downhill. Also, if you're considering this restaurant for a child with autism or sensory sensitivities, I would think twice. The constant loud noises, flashing lights, and overall atmosphere were incredibly overstimulating, even for someone without autism. What is meant to be a fun experience can quickly become overwhelming. Overall, the concept is still unique, but the long waits, slow service, average food, and overwhelming environment make it difficult for me to recommend.
THE FINAL BASTION OF RAINFOREST CAFE IN CALIFORNIA. I'll never forgive the Downtown Disney location for closing before I became an adult with the money and funds to visit. I've actually only ever been to the Las Vegas one ages ago when I was a child, but I do have memories of going to the gift shop at this location. A lot has changed though, most notably all of the fish that were in the aquarium tanks while you wait to be seated or you can gaze at from the gift shop. Makes sense as taking care of live animals makes things much trickier, costly, and is a huge liability. I actually recently learned that Rainforest Cafe locations had live parrots. Insane. Imagine the America we could have had. With that being said, even if you're not dining in, it's always fun to see the gator animatronic in the front and of course, Tracy Tree. I love that the company still does its best to reach out to an audience, like chimera fusion animals and the appeal to Millennials (the Tracy Tree secrets bumper sticker and shirt). Huge discount corner in the back where I got a really neat vintage art huge drink mug, an Iggy the Iguana pen, and an Easter Cha Cha shirt. I love the characters and that there's printables for kids to color and do activities with. I feel like newer generations are so screen addicted that a call to more simpler times is just so nostalgic and endearing. But I digress. Bar seating is immediate and I love the animal butt stools, but being seated at a table has it's own charm too. I love the chaotic over the top animal (marine, jungle animals, etc.) prints on each table and the rainforest thunderstorm show with the lights and animals that happen frequently. Although everything is a bit outdated, it's very charming. I despise corpo slop minimalism so the attention to detail on the statues, wall painted art, animatronics, etc. is all so very welcome to me, despite how tacky it might be others. There's a balloon animal artist walking around and a photographer who gives you a free small postcard print but you can always get a nicer one for a fee. For our visit, we got several non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks. Most drinks come with a souvenir cup you just show the receipt to at the gift store and they give you a new clean one. Some cups you just have to take from the table (like our 250th USA Anniversary one and a light up one), so confirm with your server. You can BARELY taste the alcohol in the alcoholic drinks which made the much more yummier (I despise alcohol and am intolerant to most drinks), but my brother and his friend enjoyed their Raspberry Rainfall and Strawberry Mojito. My friend and I enjoyed our Swimming Hole and Brazilian Breeze. Not to sweet and refreshing fruit flavors. We we already so full, so we decided to go for some desserts and most of the party wasn't sweet tooths so I couldn't be silly and order the brownie volcano. It took a bit of time for us to order since a lot of the menu was entree foods and not much in the variety of shareables (if you strip away the decor and aesthetics then outside of a couple items, you couldn't really differentiate it from a standard sit down franchise). We got the key lime pie and cheesecake, which were both solid desserts and didn't taste like super pre-made frozen box cakes. Good texture, not too dry crumble, and big enough slices to make sharing easy. Since we were near closing and they had a pretty full restaurant (Saturday evening), it was hard to flag down our waiter since he had a lot on his serving plate. So keep this in mind, also make reservations on OpenTable as it does get busy too. Check their social media since I guess Cha Cha also makes an appearance and I would love to meet them one day. I really hope this place survives and stays a relic of times long gone. They don't make super themed restaurants like this anymore, especially with eatertainment.
The Rainforest Cafe is a very special place to me, and I had a wonderful time dining here tonight! The atmosphere of the chaotic rainforest was so captivating, every detail adds to such an immersive scene and experience. The service was good, dining on a Saturday evening can be tricky with wait times, but I could see that the staff was working so hard. The food was okay, I personally wouldn't dine at the Rainforest Cafe for the food, but for the experience only. My appetizer plate looked really good but most of the food was a bit too greasy and I could tell it was sitting for a while. I still ate nearly all of it however, like I said, it wasn't bad it was just okay! I absolutely adore this restaurant and hope it stays forever- maybe an upgraded menu in the future?
Super slow service. Make sure to make reservations, for temp was mediocre but the food was good. Expensive but paying for the atmosphere.
Talk about a blast from the past. I hadn't eaten at Rainforest Cafe in probably 20 years, so coming back felt like unlocking a very specific childhood memory, complete with jungle decor and plenty of nostalgia. I was actually surprised by how good the food was and enjoyed it much more than I expected, although a few items leaned overly spicy and felt a little mismatched with the rest of the menu and theme. Service was fast and efficient, and Tim deserves a special shoutout for bringing such great energy and enthusiasm to the experience. Is Rainforest Cafe a little over the top? Absolutely, but that's also kind of the point. It was a fun meal and the perfect place to recharge after completing what felt like an expedition of its own: one very large lap around the very large Ontario Mills.
First time at this location after Anaheim Downtown Disney one shut down years ago. Came here Saturday night and host quoted us 25 min wait for 2. We decided to get some drinks and sat at the bar while we waited for a bar table to be cleaned. After waiting 10-20 mins for the bar table, we went back to ask the host an update on the table and ended up being seated on the main floor. Glad we asked! After placing our food order, it came out about 20-30 mins later. We ordered the Pastalaya and Lasagna and both were pretty good. Solid meal and fun restaurant experience but service could be better. Would still reccomend for family with littles.
Amy was amazing! She answered all of our questions and was very knowledgeable about the food. We haven't been here for a while and there's isn't one near us, so we made a little trip for a late lunch. Everything is as I remembered when I came here a few years ago, still a great experience! Love it.

This was an unfortunate experience. The service here is not just slow, it's inexcusably neglectful. We came with my three kids for my son's fourth birthday on a Tuesday, typically the slowest night for any restaurant. It was not crowded. We had a reservation. From the time that we sat down until the time we had our drinks was 58 minutes. Literally an hour for two sprites, a milk, two mixed drinks, and a glass of wine. It was 90 minutes before my kids got their food. The adult's main entrees didn't come until long after the kids had finished eating and were asking about dessert. By that point, we couldn't make the kids sit and wait while we ate after a nearly two hour wait for a burger and a salad. They removed the two entrees from our bill, but I would have vastly preferred to have had it to eat during the meal. By the end, the charm of the decor had worn off. All three kids were cranky and ready to go. I understand they coast off their atmosphere, and they probably don't care if locals like my family come back, but I would say that they would have sold merch to all three of my kids if they didn't force us to sit over 90 minutes without food and an hour without a drink. On the way in, everyone was excited to explore the gift shop after. On the way out, we wanted to forget the experience and just get home. And they think they'll upsell us pictures to remember the awful dinner? The two tables to either side of us also had meals comped and were outraged. How often are they comping food for a total failure to bring it out? Look at these reviews. This is a known issue, and persists on a slow Tuesday. This is management's fault and they clearly are not going to do anything to rectify their lack of ability to run a restaurant. This is, quite literally, the worst organized I've ever seen in food service. I'm giving two stars for our poor waitress who deserves a better back of the house and better leadership and the balloon animal person, who was very talented. But this is a total failure of a restaurant and they are completely uninterested, despite the canned corporate response to every single Yelp review pointing out this issue, in improving. Do not patronize this place. I certainly never will. I have fond childhood memories of Rainforest cafe, and was excited to bring my son here for his birthday. But if this is what it has devolved into, it deserves to go out of business. read more

Used to come here for the rainforest ambiance and my nieces and nephew loved it. Probably due to covid or lack of staffing but it wasn't very crowded but everything was soooo slow - even w a VIP card, we were not called until 15-20 minutes after the estimated wait time, and the orders and food took over an hour. Appetizers came w the meal instead of in advance and we were starved. Don't come too hungry / be ready to wait! Food was ok. They don't have the vegetarian options they used to like the portabello mushroom sandwich or wrap. Only a salad. Got the fish tacos and they were ok. The balloon artist is fun for kids tho. read more

When we arrived at the restaurant, the hostess was allegedly unable to find my Open Table Reservation, I immediately showed her and at that point she found it. We were then rushed to a table as I was explaining it was my 2 year old granddaughters first visit. Needless to say, the servicer Kat at our table 110/1 was horrible. She never offered drink refills, water etc. the sad part was my granddaughters pizza and fries were forgotten and Kat with no sense of urgency, even after seeing that all the group had food already, said she would check on the pizza. Sometime later the cold pizza and fries arrived. I asked to speak with the manager about about 10 to 15 min later a blond hair female with an attitude showed up asking what questions I had. I explained that I had no "questions" and at that point figured it was a waste of my time to even explain the situation, since she already displayed attitude. My question to the establishment, how do you allow negative reviews to be posted without making some adjustments. People dine out and expect quality food and service. Well I can tell you from my experience, RainForest offers none of the above. My donation of $135.00 will be my first and last, unless I see a change in management and service. I am really surprised that Landry's Inc. allows this type of service as it is not displayed at their other owned establishments I dine at frequently. read more

We've been wanting to bring our 7 year old since she's never experienced Rainforest Cafe, we used to have one back home near south coast plaza as well as downtown Disney and we were sad when those locations closed! We have a Landry's select club card so we were seated right away! Our experience was delightful from the food to the host and our server's attention. My husband really enjoyed his pastalaya dish! Hoping my daughter will want to come back since she was a little spooked in the beginning with the animatronics but then she was okay! This place brings back childhood memories, love the nostalgia of rainforest cafe ! read more

Wow! I had not been to the rainforest Café in probably 15 to 20 years and I am re-impressed! The ambience is fabulous for young kids. My 4 year old grandson has some sensory issues with the sound so I covered his ears and he did great. They've got this adorable store when you enter and all kinds of animals, elephants monkeys, tigers & thunderstorms in the dining area. Super cool experience but on top of that, the food was better than I recalled, and our server Kaydence was the best! So attentive, cute and friendly! Thank you for taking great care of us. read more

We always love coming here for special occasions, the kids love the ambiance and they have a pretty good selection of kid meals. The food has always been on point. Like the fish tacos and you can go big on desserts or their giant cakes. Make reservations it's the easiest way of getting here without waiting. The servers are always nice. Bathrooms are clean. Come visit for the experience. Inside Ontario mills you can spend all day here shopping and eating. Hoping they stay here for a long time since it's the closest location for us. read more

As a family we used to take our little ones to experience the restaurant for its whimsical jungle atmosphere. Thrilled they would anticipate the rain after thunder stroke, noises of wild animals would sound and we would look around to find them. A very special place in the city to simulate a kind of Jungle Book Disney style . We all grew up and reminisced about the experiences we all had being somewhere else atmosphere, but food was the last thought it came to our minds. I had the opportunity to return to the jungle restaurant, we sat at the bar because it was a 50 minute wait; we called prior to make reservations and we were told no reservation were taken just come and wait. So expect to wait to be seated on their time. I was surprised with the seafood plate. Large enough, tasty and seafood was excellent- I shared my plate and I was satisfied. The fish tacos were surprisingly large pieces of breaded fish. The bar is a quick way to eat and go not if you want to expect the jungle atmosphere. Good food- our bartender was excellent, he returned often to check if we had all we needed. We only had non alcoholic drinks, but saw many tropical concoctions. . I would recommend the restaurant for the experience. Rainforest Cafe has limited franchises so go before this one also disappears. A+ read more

This was a great place to celebrate my son's 8th grade graduation. We had a group of 14 and it worked out well. We placed a deposit ($100 at the time when I called) to reserve our date and time. While there they had someone going around doing group pictures at the tables that you can buy for $20 each and a wonderful lady who offers to do custom balloon animals. There was a little bit of a mix up at the end when it came time to pay our separate bills in our party but they took care of it. read more

Experience with take-out: I went here because I had a $25 reward from Landry's. I saw the prices on the menu and was shocked that I wouldn't be able to get much with that money, so I was expecting to be disappointed (especially after seeing reviews). However, I was actually quite impressed with the food! The pastalaya was really good and worth getting again! I also got the caribbean rice as a side. It was nice (black beans in it), but nothing worth getting again. Cobb salad was pretty good. I went back another time with another $25 voucher and got the fish tacos and they were SO good! Once again I was very impressed! We also got a kid's meal with cheeseburger sliders, but nothing too impressive about them. read more

The food was terrible. I order the sirloin steak and shrimp. Then asked for a medium steak and got a burnt steak. All the food was so dry. My veggies and shrimps were overcooked. Second time my steak was redone. It was rare. The picture you see below is the third time. By this time I was done with all my food. All I had was the steak. My husband is a chef. He said then in less than 5 minutes they can't even throw the steak back on the grill. He said they microwave it and that's why it lost all of its juice. My husband order a pasta and it was so dry. He had to ask for extra sauce. Services wasn't great either. We waited forever for our food. I had to ask for a refill on my drink cause it sat at my table for more than 10 minutes without being refill. After I paid, I asked for a manager. Because I wanted to make sure that she knew this was the worst service and worst food I've ever ever had. I didn't want to say anything before because I don't need anything for free. When the manager came I realize she was the one that brought my steak back and I let her know that it was microwaved. Overall this was a waste of our money. I will never come back again. read more

This review is based solely on the Bar area this time. Husband friends and I sat at the bar and had a few drinks before going out for the night. Husband and I had the blue Nile and the Strawberry Daiquiri and they were so good! The daiquiri could have used a bit more blending but it was still really good! Also, you get to keep the souvenir cup which was pretty cool because my friends are from Texas and they got to take it with them. Our bar hosts were really sweet and nice. When we were getting ready to leave we realized they only put us town for 1 drink, so we didn't get to keep our both our glasses, but Steve fixed it right up for us and told us just take this receipt to the souvenir shop and tell them I sent you. It was our fault we didn't put you down for 4 drinks. So that was really great. We didn't have food this time around but food never disappoints so I'm happy with the visit! read more
