After sharing our disappointing experience at the Rainforest Cafe in Ontario, I was pleasantly surprised to receive a phone call from the General Manager. He sincerely apologized for everything that had happened during our visit and invited our family back, offering to help make things right. I appreciated the gesture and agreed to give it another try. This time our group was smaller, and we had a 7:00 p.m. reservation. Right away, things felt different. One of the highlights of the evening was Eric, the balloon artist. He was incredibly kind, personable, and genuinely engaging with everyone. The balloon animals were a huge hit and added a fun, memorable touch to the evening. It's those little interactions that help create the whimsical atmosphere Rainforest Cafe is known for. Our server, Emily, was fantastic. She was friendly from the moment we sat down, attentive throughout the meal, and made sure we had everything we needed. She truly helped turn the evening into the experience we had hoped for the first time. The restaurant also graciously treated us to an appetizer and dessert as an apology, which was appreciated. The reality, though, is that while Rainforest Cafe made a sincere effort to make things right, our "do-over" still cost our family another $200 out of pocket. Between both visits, we spent well over $600 to finally have the magical family celebration we originally planned. That's the bittersweet part of this story. If this second visit had been our first, I would have left writing a glowing review. We laughed, enjoyed the atmosphere, watched the thunderstorms, admired the animals, and celebrated together exactly the way we had envisioned. Unfortunately, it took two separate visits--and over $600--to get there. So, would I recommend Rainforest Cafe? Yes. The atmosphere is whimsical, immersive, and a lot of fun, especially for kids and adults who like fun and wonder. If you're planning a visit, here are a few tips based on our experience: -Make an earlier reservation if you can. The restaurant seemed much less rushed, and the overall experience was more enjoyable. Plus the liveliness of the atmosphere makes it a vibe. -If Emily is working, ask for her. She took excellent care of us and made a noticeable difference in our evening. -Don't miss the balloon artist, they are talented and add magic to the experience. Bring cash so you can tip them. And have everyone get one, it's make it more fun. I'm genuinely grateful that the management reached out and gave us another chance to experience Rainforest Cafe the way it's meant to be. I was really disappointed with our recent visit to Rainforest Cafe at Ontario Mills. First, I highly recommend making a reservation because they seem to be required. However, even with a reservation, be prepared to wait well past your scheduled time to be seated. The service was extremely slow, and the food was mediocre at best. It's unfortunate because this restaurant used to be much better, but the overall quality has definitely gone downhill. Also, if you're considering this restaurant for a child with autism or sensory sensitivities, I would think twice. The constant loud noises, flashing lights, and overall atmosphere were incredibly overstimulating, even for someone without autism. What is meant to be a fun experience can quickly become overwhelming. Overall, the concept is still unique, but the long waits, slow service, average food, and overwhelming environment make it difficult for me to recommend. read more

With late stage capitalism upon us, I've been trying to expose my kids to some American restaurant chains before they follow the footsteps of the American Dream and vanish forever. That's why we found ourselves heading to Rainforest Cafe on a hot July day The ambiance is four stars. Aging animatronics are plentiful at this location. Our table had a beautiful view of an old elephant whose neck was more wobbly than the knees of Madonna trying to walk across the World Cup finals pitch. Oh and gotta love the Thunderstorms But what really makes the ambiance is the sound of balloons popping. Once you realize you're not getting a front row seat to the latest American mass shooting you're grateful to get a balloon animal and it only costs you a tip. I'm grateful we made a reservation because shockingly this place was packed on a Saturday night. Grateful to avoid the wait inside the overpriced company stored filled with plastic cups I assume are filled with toxins and over priced stuffed animals. We were quickly seated and our waitress was awesome. She gets 5 stars Let's talk about the food. Wow it is really bad. Like so bad my kids even recognize it's bad. My oldest said - I appreciate the effort but next time can we go to chilis? I had the Pastalaya and where it was somewhat spicy for a chain it was also so freaking salty that I'm still downing water 20+ hours later. My oldest said the fish from the fish and chips was basic and had a sweet crust which was a crime against humanity. Can we give the food negative stars? THE FINAL BASTION OF RAINFOREST CAFE IN CALIFORNIA. I'll never forgive the Downtown Disney location for closing before I became an adult with the money and funds to visit. I've actually only ever been to the Las Vegas one ages ago when I was a child, but I do have memories of going to the gift shop at this location. A lot has changed though, most notably all of the fish that were in the aquarium tanks while you wait to be seated or you can gaze at from the gift shop. Makes sense as taking care of live animals makes things much trickier, costly, and is a huge liability. I actually recently learned that Rainforest Cafe locations had live parrots. Insane. Imagine the America we could have had. With that being said, even if you're not dining in, it's always fun to see the gator animatronic in the front and of course, Tracy Tree. I love that the company still does its best to reach out to an audience, like chimera fusion animals and the appeal to Millennials (the Tracy Tree secrets bumper sticker and shirt). Huge discount corner in the back where I got a really neat vintage art huge drink mug, an Iggy the Iguana pen, and an Easter Cha Cha shirt. I love the characters and that there's printables for kids to color and do activities with. I feel like newer generations are so screen addicted that a call to more simpler times is just so nostalgic and endearing. But I digress. Bar seating is immediate and I love the animal butt stools, but being seated at a table has it's own charm too. I love the chaotic over the top animal (marine, jungle animals, etc.) prints on each table and the rainforest thunderstorm show with the lights and animals that happen frequently. Although everything is a bit outdated, it's very charming. I despise corpo slop minimalism so the attention to detail on the statues, wall painted art, animatronics, etc. is all so very welcome to me, despite how tacky it might be others. There's a balloon animal artist walking around and a photographer who gives you a free small postcard print but you can always get a nicer one for a fee. For our visit, we got several non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks. Most drinks come with a souvenir cup you just show the receipt to at the gift store and they give you a new clean one. Some cups you just have to take from the table (like our 250th USA Anniversary one and a light up one), so confirm with your server. You can BARELY taste the alcohol in the alcoholic drinks which made the much more yummier (I despise alcohol and am intolerant to most drinks), but my brother and his friend enjoyed their Raspberry Rainfall and Strawberry Mojito. My friend and I enjoyed our Swimming Hole and Brazilian Breeze. Not to sweet and refreshing fruit flavors. We we already so full, so we decided to go for some desserts and most of the party wasn't sweet tooths so I couldn't be silly and order the brownie volcano. It took a bit of time for us to order since a lot of the menu was entree foods and not much in the variety of shareables (if you strip away the decor and aesthetics then outside of a couple items, you couldn't really differentiate it from a standard sit down franchise). We got the key lime pie and cheesecake, which were both solid desserts and didn't taste like super pre-made frozen box cakes. Good texture, not too dry crumble, and big enough slices to make sharing easy. Since we were near closing and they had a pretty full restaurant (Saturday evening), it was hard to flag down our waiter since he had a lot on his serving plate. So keep this in mind, also make reservations on OpenTable as it does get busy too. Check their social media since I guess Cha Cha also makes an appearance and I would love to meet them one day. I really hope this place survives and stays a relic of times long gone. They don't make super themed restaurants like this anymore, especially with eatertainment. read more

Heard about this jungle-themed restaurant, you hear monkeys lions birds and elephants during your meal the decor is cool and, every 30 minutes, a thunderstorm passes by a talented balloon artist walks by and makes cool balloon art for the little ones love the gift shop located directly outside of restaurant because we had a little ones, I didn't get to enjoy dinner and just picked on french fries, that being said, need to go back to be able to comment on the food! 2.5 stars is what I would probably give. Pros: Our waitress Amy was very nice, she checked on us several times and updated us on our food arrival. She seemed a little overwhelmed as it was pretty busy and there was a line of people waiting to get seated, but she was still friendly. The outside and the inside of the restaurant is really fun and the perfect place to bring younger kids. We hadn't been here in a good 9 years but it was nice to see the decor outside of the main mall entrance as well as the area outside the restaurant, inside the mall and the gift shop. It's just fully immersed in jungle theme for kids! There's a little smoke, steam and animal hollering every 15-20 mins or so. Our table was right next to the pond with the atlas statue so the water was loud, on top of the jungle sounds so it was really hard to talk to the people in your party. Cons: the food was overpriced for what it is and how much food you get. My little cup of maybe 7 or 8 ounces of clam chowder was $9.49! It didn't taste extraordinary or freshly made, probably out of a can. The kids fried shrimp was just ok as well. My taco salad was also just average. It was on the smaller side and had some chopped iceberg lettuce. It tasted ok. Nothing to write home about but people don't come here for the food. It just felt $2-$3 dollars more per dish than it needs to be. We are in Ontario but I guess the extra $$ is going to the upkeep of the fun and cool stuff inside. It also took at least 30 mins to get our food so don't come hungry! They don't have any complimentary chips and salsa or bread to hold you over until your food comes out. When my daughter graduated from high school, I wanted to do something that reminded us of those special days, so we decided to come back. The restaurant is just as fun and beautiful as I remembered with all the animated animals and rainforest atmosphere. We had a party of 11, and I was pleasantly surprised by how great everything was. I ordered the cheeseburger and fries, and everyone else had a variety of different dishes. Everything came out hot, fresh, and delicious. The service was amazing, especially considering the size of our group. This visit reminded me why I loved bringing my family here. First time at this location after Anaheim Downtown Disney one shut down years ago. Came here Saturday night and host quoted us 25 min wait for 2. We decided to get some drinks and sat at the bar while we waited for a bar table to be cleaned. After waiting 10-20 mins for the bar table, we went back to ask the host an update on the table and ended up being seated on the main floor. Glad we asked! After placing our food order, it came out about 20-30 mins later. We ordered the Pastalaya and Lasagna and both were pretty good. Solid meal and fun restaurant experience but service could be better. Waited about 15 min to get seated and although it took a bit for our waitress to take our orders, she was great. Very communicative, especially when the food was taking a bit long. Food was (IMO shockingly) REALLY good. I had very low expectations of the food & was a bit hesitant since the prices were a lot for a "gimmicky" restaurant but my mind is forever changed. Hubby had hot honey fried chicken, I had fish tacos. Although I was undecided between 2 meals and told the waitress to surprise me, she picked well! The tacos had a very large portion of grilled fish, the sauce had a slight kick but was delicious. My son had the steak kabobs (he was disappointed they didn't come on sticks) but they were cooked perfectly. The "thunderstorm" that occurs every 30 min was not too loud but it was a cute perk to eating at the rainforest. Bathrooms were clean. Gift shop out front was HUGE. I'll start with the food. It was not good at all. I've never really gone to a restaurant and not ate my food. I was so bothered that they had to take it off my bill. Our server was great tho. S/o to Her. We just wanted to leave and go home. I'm frustrated at the fact that we live in Northridge and traveled to Ontario for basically.....NOTHING. I mean that pasta was DRY. Like the desert. It was a Rasta Pasta and baby... it was NOTHING Rasta about that. At least our drinks were cold and good. My kid loves this place so we have to go here every time we are in the neighborhood. She loves the decor and all the animals, yes she is in her 20s now but when we go here it is like she is my little girl again. On our recent visit my party made a reservation for Sunday rather than Saturday. The hostess, upon seeing our goof brushed it off and got us promptly seated even though it seemed very busy. We were greeted by a very pleasant and kind waitress Lindsay. To start she was vey attentive but seemed very busy with many other tables. We placed our order and even ordered some items recommended by Lindsay. When I ordered my plate I asked for some steak sauce and even asked again later but I was never brought any. I understood she was very busy but my food went cold and everyone at my table was finished with their food by the time she realized her goof. She was very nice and refunded my uneaten meal and insisted I take it with me even though I didn't want to as I was staying in a hotel. We will definitely return as we really enjoy this place, especially this location. The service is always great including this time even with the goof. I want to start off by saying these 2 stars are based solely on my overall experience here. If it weren't for Lindsay, this honestly would have been a 1-star review. Lindsay deserves 5 stars all on her own. She is genuinely one of the kindest and hardest-working servers out there. Management, if you see this, please give this girl a raise, promotion, recognition -- anything! She completely saved our experience. My family and I came here because Rainforest Cafe is nostalgic for us, just like it is for many others who grew up going to the Downtown Disney location. We did a walk-in and waited about 1.5 hours, which honestly was fine since we spent the time enjoying the mall. Once we were seated, we were assigned a server named Jace. She greeted us right away, took our drink order, and quickly brought the drinks back. She then told us, "I'm going to drop these drinks off at another table and will be right back." Little did we know, "right back" meant NEVER coming back. We waited around 40 minutes just to have our order taken, and that only happened because Lindsay noticed us sitting there unattended. Even though she was assigned to the bar area, she stepped out of her section to help us. From that point on, she basically became our server for the rest of the night even though our table was never assigned to her. Out of pure kindness, she continued taking care of us while also managing the entire bar section. To make matters worse, we had also asked the hostess for 3 forks. She only brought 2 and told us she would come back with the third one... which, just like the other promises that night, never happened either. At that point it honestly started to feel like our table was invisible. Our food ended up taking about an hour to come out, and Lindsay continuously checked in with the kitchen after noticing how long we had been waiting. In total, we were there for about 2 hours and probably sat through 4 rainforest "storms." By the FOURTH rain show, our original server, Jace, finally came back. While she apologized for "disappearing," it honestly did not feel sincere. I understand restaurants get busy and things happen, but out of respect for customers, there should at least be communication if a server needs to step away for that long or another server should be assigned to check in. The experience with Jace was extremely disappointing, but thank you to Lindsay for going above and beyond and completely saving the night for my family. Overall, Rainforest Cafe is fun for the nostalgia and atmosphere, but it is definitely not a 5 star dining experience. The food is overpriced, although still enjoyable enough. I'll probably come back again someday when I'm feeling nostalgic, but I truly hope Lindsay gets the recognition she deserves because she was the highlight of our entire visit. read more

If I had to choose between the most expensive meal here and an In-N-Out burger combo, In-N-Out would win every single time. Service was mediocre. Everything was perfect! My family and I wanted to enjoy a light dinner. This was our first time here and it was absolutely perfect. At times our adventurous toddler would get startled with the sounds, but she quickly joined the adventure. As an adult, this was a pretty cool experience. I can only imagine what my toddler thought. There are so many animals and effects that make it feel like you are actually eating in a rainforest. I appreciate how clean and spaced out the tables are. I celebrated my grandson's birthday here for the second time and this restaurant never disappoints. My grandson is a bit older now and able to enjoy the atmosphere. He absolutely loved the aesthetics in the restaurant from the thunderstorms every 30 minutes, to the animated animals, everything at this restaurant caters to children. There is an awesome balloon maker that walks around, although it is not free of charge, the only thing she asks for is a tip, which I think is a great trade-off. I ordered the Pastalaya and it was so delicious, it has pasta, shrimp, sausage and chicken it's spicy, just the way I like it. I would definitely come back to this restaurant to enjoy with my family. The very last rain forest cafe in California and it sounds silly, but I love taking my guests here when they're visiting! It's always a great atmosphere, silly animal noises, and a treat to see the rain storm. The lines are always insane, so be sure you put your name down, then walk around the mall. If you don't mind not being in the center of the forestry, you can drink or eat at the bar. I love drinking here because any cocktails or beers you drink, you also get to keep the cup! It's a perfect souvenir for anyone. The food on the other hand... is very salty. I don't know who seasons it, but I wonder if they've tried their own food. I can't finish half the meal sometimes. We got our food and drinks at 2. The kids python pasta was hard and not fully cooked. The mashed potatoes that came with it was also very cold. They gave me another one but that tasted the same. The only semi-good part was the chicken that came with it. We also ordered an appetizer sampler which also had some cold food on it. I would have given this a 0 stars if that was possible. Tim was our server this Friday around 7 PM at Rainforest Cafe, and we wanted to make sure his excellent service was recognized. Usually we request Audrey, but the restaurant was very busy and we were seated in a different section. We are so glad we were placed with Tim. He hit every step of service perfectly -- from drinks, appetizers, table-side etiquette, attentiveness, and overall guest care. He works exceptionally well with small children, was incredibly patient and kind, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the entire meal. Even on such a busy Friday night, Tim remained enthusiastic, professional, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. It is rare to find someone who clearly enjoys their work and knows how to make guests feel appreciated and comfortable. We've been there a handful of times for fun evenings out. Tonight, was really great. The host quoted us 2:45 wait for a table. We ended up waiting about 15 minutes and sat the four of us at a bar high top. The restaurant was really busy and the bar staff was hustling in all the right ways. That was delicious. If you order a specialty drink it usually comes with a souvenir cup that lights up. Customer service was exceptional. If you like dim lit dining this is it. I attended this place with some friends for a nostalgic dinner. We drove 1.5 hours to this restaurant. I ordered the BBQ ribs, the artichoke dip for appetizer, and the rainbow pina colada - all of which were amazing. The service was decent, and the balloon making guy was awesome and made me a flower hat. read more

My friends and I came to the Rainforest Cafe and could not have had a better time! The food and drinks were fantastic, and we loved the ambiance (thunderstorms every 30 minutes!). The service is definitely on the slower side, but the experience makes it worth it. The absolute highlight of our meal was the ballooner, Rebecca!!!! She was INCREDIBLE. We saw her moving around the restaurant the entire time we were eating and hoped she would make her way to our table despite us all being adults, haha, and she did!! Her energy was infectious, and she chatted with us for probably a good 15 minutes whilst making us the cutest balloon hats! Will be coming back just for her read more

We decided to go here for dinner and was pleasantly surprised with the food. 3 out of the 4 plates we ordered were great. Very flavorful & well done. My daughter's kids meal of Mac and cheese was a bit dry and underwhelming. She loves macaroni and cheese and she barely ate any of it. The girls enjoyed the ambience and the faux rainstorm. It was fun for all of us. The one thing we all agreed on was that the service was lacking. We were only asked once shortly after the food was brought out of all was good or needed anything and we never saw our server again until we were done and she was ready to hand over the check. I would have liked a refill of my tea and my 3 year old even said she wanted more apple juice.. we were headed home so we just told her we give her one at home. Other than that.. we did say we would come back but hopefully with a different server and would order something different for our lil one. We are sorry for only the 3 stars but it would have been 4 or 5 if service was great. read more
