Disappointed. We made reservations for 2pm on Sunday....granted it was a zoo it is difficult to get anyone's attention to actually use those reservations. We were on a 1 hour time line which we let them know upfront. The wait staff was nice, but they failed to bring the food in any timely manner. I just ended up asking for the check ahead of the food. When the food arrived, we had just a few moments to eat, but they did not bring one of our meals as ordered...They put cheese on a burger for someone with dairy allergies. Like I. Said disappointed. The waitresses said she. Would replace the patty and she should be able to a patty from the kitchen in less than a minute. We gave it five, then scrapped off the cheese. We just gave up.... For the $97 and lack of an enjoyable experience- not really the waitresses fault....I would have much rather gone else where. read more

Like the other comments the staff was very friendly and helpful. The food is very good and fantastic presentation!

All we expected! Good food, different than usual but not odd. Rainforest still around you while you eat. Great service nice people.

I can't think of anyone I can recommend Rainforest Cafe to! I thought now having a little one this might be fun, but alas I was wrong. For adults it is super over priced while the ambiance is cheap with their mismatched plastic table cloths and dilapidated chairs. For younger ones (my 2 year old for example) the animals coming to life at deafening volumes with wild sounds is more scary than fun. Maybe for parents who just don't care about cost with kids that are old enough to not be scared by the sudden starts and stops it would be ok if you are also willing to put up with slow service? I don't know, I still can't honestly think of one friend or family member that I would recommend this to. My son loves looking at the animals on the facade every time we are at the Mills, but we won't be going inside again. I can't comment on the food because between the exorbitant prices ($16 for a cheeseburger!), the slow service, and the startling animal "show" (of which we saw three iterations without having someone come to take our order) we got out and went to another restaurant for lunch. read more

I happen to be at the Ontario Mills Mall and having to chose between food court food and a very manic and loud Dave and Busters...I chose this place, my hope was for a calmer atmosphere and better food. Being on a business trip, I didn't have my children with me...this is defiantly some place I have to take them! This place is committed to the rainforest theme...you're surrounded by a forest, sure it's a simulated one but still awesome! There is the constant sound of falling water which I found comforting. Occasionally, you'll hear the roar of the tigers and elephants; the animatronics are awesome! Despite all this "stuff", the atmosphere is NOT manic but it did take me a second to get accustomed to the rainforest "program" of sounds (and sights). If you have children, they probably won't want to leave! In terms of food, it wasn't bad; I had ribs which were tender and tasty. It came with fries. I see on Yelp some complaints about their service, I didn't have a bad experience. My server was efficient and friendly. Overall a weird place for me to have dinner on a business trip but I had no regrets! read more

Rainforest Cafe in the past was always a great sit down restaurant to bring your kids and have nice dinner. The decor is over the top and watching every kid in the place stop and stare in awe at the "lighting storm" even when I came without my kids was great. I really hope I get to change this rating, because I would hate to think they have traded gimmicks for quality (like so many other places). Rainforest Cafe is why my boyfriend likes shrimp, he tried a piece off of his cousins plate years ago and has loved it ever since. We waited in line, no biggie, we always do and were seated. The waitress was a bit slow getting there, still no biggie. We put in our drink and dinner order, the boyfriend got the Mojo Bones (1/2 rack of ribs) with a side of coconut shrimp (his favorite) and I ordered the "Taste of the Islands" (blackened tilapia, coconut shrimp and scallops done scampi style). The ribs were done well, tender, flavorful, but the boyfriend didn't think the portion qualified as a half rack. The fries were good and the coleslaw was not . The shrimp we both had were more batter than shrimp, rubbery and they changed the recipe on the batter. It used to be crisp with a blast of coconut and nice spicy finish, now its a bland and oily suggestion of a chunk. My Tilapia was perfect, well crusted and flavorful, the mango salsa wasn't great but, I didn't order it for the garnish. The scallops were not good by any stretch of the imagination, rubbery with some kind of mayo goop on top that killed them completely. I really hope the quality of the food comes back in line with where it was two years ago, or that it's just this location ..... I miss having a great family dinner with my kids eating quality food and not a paper bag in sight. read more

First off, the don't have the nutritional information on the food here. That is important to me when I go out, because even salads at a restaurant can contain too much fat and sodium. But that's just me. The prices are also pretty high and the food is mediocre. Service was alright. Kind of slow. On the plus, my kids did enjoy the atmosphere and their kids plate. read more

The whole restaurant is rainforest themed. The animals move every 15 minutes and a thunderstorm happens every 30 minutes. I would say the whole restaurant is more about the atmosphere rather than the food. The food wasn't bad, but it was pricey. I shared a plate with my little sister. We got the Parilla Yucatán. It had blackened tilapia with mango salsa, shrimp wrapped in cheese and bacon, chicken breast with cheese on top, and vegetables. I also ordered a side of safari fries (regular French fries). I am sure I could've eaten everything on my own but I was still satisfied even though I shared. Overall, the flavor isn't really there for the price. BUT I wouldn't say it was bad. I would recommend the place simply because the experience was amazing. My little sister (8 yo) was overjoyed throughout our whole meal. The service was a little slow though. There isn't many people walking around all that often. read more

We came here after the kids soccer game. The place was packed however, the service was very fast. Unfortunately, the waiter told us this is the last remaining restaurant- downtown Disney location no long exists. All of the fishes in the tank were removed do to overhead cost which is a bummer. It's now a blue water tank which looks odd. Anyhow, the fish tacos was very good along with the black beans. I wife enjoyed her Corn Chowder. read more

Ambiance was cool. The rest? Not so much. It was my daughters 9th birthday and we came to rainforest cafe only to be completely disappointed. Made reservations for 630 pm, and didn't receive our food until 1.5 hours later, drinks took 30 min, when the server came out with the appetizer almost an hour after ordering he said "sorry it was just sitting back there" and it tasted exactly as he said. We had to ask the server for refills over and over. EXTREMELY LONG wait and poor service. Food was mediocre and cold, table was dirty and sticky. Never again! Overpriced, and dishonest service. (Our 9yr old left her gift on the table as we left. Called ten min later as the restaurant had been closed and no other tables were seated yet no one found anything. The girl on the phone almost laughed out loud when I called and asked if they had found anything) Do not recommend as there are far too many other cool places to check out in the area. Will never visit again. read more

If I can give this place a zero I would . Horrible experience ! I come here every year for my daughters birthday since she was 2 years old and she turned 9 yesterday. This was her favorite place and now it's not. The service was AWFUL. I understand servers get busy but it took a little over an hour to get our food , when our food finally came out every single dish was cold . Not to mention we were a party of 9 celebrating my daughters birthday. We never got refills on our drinks . When the appetizer came out we didn't even get side plates until I asked and when I asked it took him 10 minutes to finally bring them. Our server was not attentive he was a bit rude . I am not a complainer but this really got me upset because we were there to celebrate my daughters birthday. Being said we won't be returning here ever again. read more

The atmosphere is fun..not impressed by the food. I got there 30 minutes before closing (No one likes that last minute costumer, so I asked before being seated, if it was still 'okay' to order and if the full menu was open..The lady upfront said, yes." Anyway, food was "warm" NOT "hot." They heated up our food because they admited that it would take too long to re make it. So that was kind of shaddy. Anyway, in a nutshell, I don't care if you're about to close..You're being paid, regardless. Also, if I'm paying $18 for my plate.. I expect an $18 worth! Our grand total turned out to be $51 and some off cents for two people, I suppose if the food would've been worth it, it wouldn't have been a problem. Oh well. Also, I judge a restaurant by how clean they keep the bathrooms. .This was pretty bad. In their defense, it was A Saturday night, must've been busy. Still pretty gross. read more

You do not come here for the food, you come to see the decor. I have been here a few times because I love being surrounded by expensive tropical saltwater fish. Everything tastes okay as long as you do not expect too much. The chicken strips with curry coconut sauce was pretty good...which is probably the only item I can recommend. Unless you have at least 4 people, DO NOT ORDER THE VOLCANOE. It is waaaaay too big. read more

We came right before the dinner rush. Our hostess was wrapping up silverware and slammed it on the table when she saw us. We also noticed the fish were missing from the tank. When we asked our waitress, she said they permanently removed them (sad :( ) My mom loved her bacon BBQ burger. My coconut shrimp and mashed red potatoes was very small of a serving for $19. The mashed potatoes had the oddest taste- maybe sourcream used in the base? Would not recommend them.... Food was strange for me, but my mom raved about the burger. Mixed feelings about the experience. In general, great place to take kids! read more

Let's start by saying that food at this place is mediocre no matter what you order. Burgers are dried, French fries are soft and mushy, chicken dried, fish and chips tasteless, kids meals are horrible with fruit in a little bag like the one you buy at Walmart. Th service was very nice although she didn't come around much. The only reason why I'm giving this place two starts is because my kids had a blast and they loved eating in the "jungle" and that's the only reason why I would be back. Food is overpriced and bad so that's not good. Fish and chips are $20 and any plate is pretty much around that price. Dried, cold brownie is $14, for real? So yes, they are lucky my kids loved the place otherwise they would be getting a minus 3 starts (if yelp allowed me of course). read more

This is with extreme sadness that I write this review. Growing up, it used to be my favorite restaurant to go to. Jungle atmosphere animated by lightning and simulated tropical storms along with beautiful animated animals surrounding your table. That's what I remember rainforest cafe for. Years later, it has become, like many other places, a thing of the past. Everything is so "yesterday", no modernization of any sorts, even on the menu. The restaurant itself is sad. Some animals clearly need to be fixed up or touched up. The tables and chairs are not balanced and ours happened to still be wet when we were seated. On top of that, you are welcomed by an impressively empty giant aquarium which sets the tone for a white depressing meal... I can't say the service was bad at all. Our sever was very polite, checked on us during our meal and brought the food at the same time promptly. Hostess was polite as well so I don't quite understand the critics about the service. I even saw the staff being very enthusiastic singing for a birthday group. It devastated me to see the restaurant so empty for dinner. And the food... I don't even want to go in further details. Just read the other reviews. Over-priced and cheap quality. You're better off at the food court where there's actually life. Because apart from the couple animals who can still scream and roar, you'll feel awkwardly alone in this jungle. Rainforest Café, I salute you old pal. You probably won't last long anymore since your owners don't seem to care and close all your locations one after the other. I will miss you and I'll just keep the childhood memories I had of you, not the sad place you've come to be... read more

Came in on a Friday around noon. Not crowded by any means. I only come here for my two boys. If it wasn't for them I wouldn't step foot in this place! The food is mediocre and way overpriced. I only get a Caesar salad every time I come because so much of the menu is deep fried. I always have to ask for fresh chicken because apparently they use refrigerated chicken. I also have to ask for dressing on the side because they soak the lettuce in dressing. Salad was $17!! The silverware was covered in dry food. Gross! When I needed service, I couldn't find a server if my life depended on it! I actually had to call the restaurant to have them send me a server lol!! I think from now on I'm just going to eat a protein bar while my kids enjoy their kids meals and the animals. One final note, it's funny how once the bill came my server kept showing up every 5 minutes lol!! I got up to take the boys to the bathroom and I saw her double timing it to my table! I told her not to clear the table because I was coming back....pretty effing funny! read more

Waitress and waiters are awesome. Food is very bland and cold and stale. The cooks should be ashamed of themselves. They put no effort into the food at all. They really would have a nice establishment if they did better with the food. The ambiance is inviting and my kids were so excited but the food was absolutely horrible. The menu is really small and some items are just too overpriced for what they bring out. We tipped our waitress good because she was sweet and prompt and it wasn't her fault. Appetizers and alcoholic beverages are ok so if I am ever forced to come here again it'll be for just that. read more

WARNING .. WARNING .. WARNING ! One of the worst restaurant ever. If you enjoy being rushed ,poor service and bad old tasting Food. Long wait for a menu and 40minutes to receive order this place is for you. Was my first and last time coming here.. I ordered an anaconda pasta for my wife and Portobello wrap for me. it took almost an hour to get our food when the place was nearly empty and when the food did arrived it was cold had a weird taste. Clearly it wasn't freshly made .Maybe a few days old. The pasta was under season and flavorless. The basil was black and dried up. As for the Portobello wrap with french fries . it was the same thing disgusting that whole meal was cold. as if they just pulled it out of the fridge. The spinach inside the wrap was black and mushy , ready to expire. McDonald's has better french then what I was serviced. read more

Staff was unfriendly and rushed us as we sat down and when we asked for a moment to look over the menu. Our hostess huffed rolled her eyes and did not revisit our table. So we got up and left. HORRIBLE SERVICE - for the price of this place the service should match. Clearly people don't come here for the food because let's be honest it's just 'ok' at best. The scenery is fun but the fact that it took over 15 min for someone to even say hello, then ANOTHER 15 min to even get water.... our appetizers came out before our drinks and all our server could say was "she got triple sat" (with a bad attitude) we looked at her crazy because the restaurant was sort of dead. And if that was truly the case ASK FOR HELP. So many people walking around not busy, chatting and doing nothing!! I could go on and on Bottom line HORRIBLE experience and Danielle needs 3 tips 1. Worst experience for a restaurant. Went with a big party to celebrate a birthday. The bill out to $430, so we put $100 cash, $150 on one card and asked for rest to be put another my card. My card was charged and server tells us we still owe , my card was charged $196. I get the balance and its a little over $80. So i pull out my other card and had them charge it . I was perplexed on how we still owed but wanted to get on , I then realize there was no mention of the $100 cash. I ask the server and he said he put the $100 as his tip. I dont know what kind of server does that. Its robbery. We set aside $75 for the tip already and where gonna put it after. I just left and let him keep the $100, but whatever it is what it is. read more

I only love this place for the theme of course! To me it is totally worth it to eat crappy food and see my siblings so excited about the animals and thunderstorms. Children will definitely love this place and the kids menu is wayyyy better than the adult menu. How can you do chicken tenders and pizza wrong? As for us adults I feel the entrees are way overpriced and very blah! Their burgers aren't that great and they upcharge you for fries! french fries that are always served with burgers , weird. I got a sampler platter and it was better than other items I've tried, a little bit of everything but still average. Great for birthday celebrations for children. read more

I was there early afternoon. Very few people dinning with us. Yet, it took the server forever to 1) take our order 2) deliver our food 3) deliver our bill. The food was overcooked, tables wobbly and sticky, and overall staff attitude was "who really cares?" The drinks were fine, and the jungle atmosphere (the reason we keep coming back) continues to be the main draw. However, I'm rethinking my desire to partake in this world given they can't get the rest right. The Volcano desert was decent -- dry cake, average vanilla ice cream, way overpriced. My husband and I decided to come here cuz we thought our 2 yr old son would enjoy it there. Well... he did like the aquarium and the animals but when they turned to life poor kid was terrified. Let's talk about their service....well...it took our server about 15 minutes before he came to our table...How did I know it was about 15 minutes? Well the hostess said the animals turn to life every 15 minutes and when we got there the special effects were almost done...Our server came right when the special effects was starting...So yeah that was about 15 minutes...Since he took that long we already knew what we wanted...he took our drinks and food orders...Food came pretty fast...Server only came once to ask if we wanted extra napkins...He didn't bother coming back if we wanted refill...We waited forever for our check....We also waited a bit for our receipt after I gave him my credit card....I guess the theme of the day was "wait for the server!" Food was ok...the Bourbon chicken was a little too sweet for me...The jasmin rice was pretty good though...My husband seemed to like their pastalaya Maybe we will visit Rainforest Cafe when our kids our a bigger and not scared of the animals anymore. I come here simply for nostalgia purposes. When we were kids my sister had her 8th birthday party here (well over 20 years ago) so the magic of this place lives on for us, no matter how tacky it is for adults (and believe me, it was not lost on us). So we are the only group of only adults but we don't care. We saunter in, grab a margarita, and hunker down for some good ole fashion rainforest weather. The atmosphere is loud but the animals are good company. I ordered the Natural Burger which is their vegetarian patty and it's pretty decent! It's a chickpea based patty that's crispy on the outside and soft in the center. It had great texture. Mashed potatoes on the side are perfectly whipped. My sister is pleased with her coconut shrimp and my mom loves her barbecue chicken wrap. Look, it's a decent place for what it is. Think of it as a safari TGI Friday's. read more

Calling this place a restaurant is a stretch. My daughter loves the atmosphere and that's why we came, but the food is terrible. I got the mojo ribs for $27.99 and they were terrible. In many ways, the work of a restaurant customer is easy. We risk very little, outside the possibility of food poisoning and bad service, yet enjoy a position over those who offer up their service and product to our judgment. Most thrive on negative criticism, which can be fun to write and to read on Yelp. But the bitter truth we must face, is that in the grand scheme of things, the Rainforest Cafe in Ontario, California is probably more meaningful than anyone designates it so. But there are times when a customer truly risks something, and that is in the discovery and defense of the Rainforest Cafe. The world is often unkind to classic family dining experiences, themed dining. Tradition needs friends. Monday, I experienced something extraordinary: a brilliant meal from a singularly unexpected source and a great server (Mackenzie). To say that both the meal, ambiance, and restaurant have challenged my preconceptions about fine dining is a gross understatement. They have rocked me to my core. In the past, many on this restaurant's Yelp page have made no secret of their disdain for the Rainforest Cafe's motto "A wild place to shop and eat". But I realize, only now do I truly understand what it means. Not everyone can visit Rainforest Cafe with only 18 locations; but Rainforest Cafe can live within everyone. It is difficult to imagine more humble origins than those of the safari guides now working at Rainforest Cafe in Ontario, who are, in this reviewer's opinion, nothing less than the finest guides in Southern California and the chain. I will be returning to Rainforest Cafe soon, hungry for more. read more

Rainforest Cafe - The entrance... - American Near Me - Ontario, California

I don't even know where to begin with this one. We were so very excited to be at such an amazing restaurant for our twins birthday. We were given a "tour" of the ambiance and then seated outside of the main seating area beside the bar with our four children. We were disappointed to be seated so far from the action, but we ordered drinks and went about our night. Upon receiving our drinks, the server accidentally spilled an entire Dr. Pepper on my dad. This was not a huge deal. We gave grace and dealt with the situation. A manager came over and attempted to assess the situation while repeatedly asking if he wanted a new shirt, rather than bringing him one (he was visibly soaked and sticky, his hair, all down his back- the WHOLE soda). Finally, my husband said YES. He needs a shirt if possible. Thank you. The same manager told my dad that his meal would also be comped. That was generous. We ordered an appetizer. Asked for plates for said appetizer and were brought filthy plates. Not just a few petty spots- the entire plates were covered in soggy frosting and sprinkles. Okay- asked a manager (a different one) if we could have some clean plates. She took the plates and left. We asked for plates again, with no service. Half of us ate off of napkins. We were then brought the wrong kids meals, they went and "swapped" the plates out for another table and told us "they brought the wrong plate out". Gross. Absolutely not. Nonetheless- the night went on. None of our drinks were refilled. We finished our meal and waited, and waited, and waited for the birthday cupcakes. Meanwhile, two of my children mentioned how cold their food was. The nuggets were frozen in the middle. The pizza was over cooked and tasted of cardboard. Again- we weren't going to be those people and just complain all night. Everyone has bad nights. After another hour we were brought our check. Nothing comped. Nothing removed. I am completely disappointed as the concept is amazing and well thought out. But when children are seated outside of the ambiance you come for and the service is so incredibly subpar, it's difficult to give Grace. Definitely has gone downhill. The balloon artist we had (Alex) was awesome and made up for the girls experience. read more
